Desert Warrior arrives with all the ingredients of a major historical epic. A reported large budget, breathtaking desert locations, international stars, large-scale battles, and a story inspired by real Arabian history should have been enough to create a memorable adventure. Instead, the film becomes another reminder that impressive production values alone cannot save a movie when the story lacks emotional weight and memorable characters.

Set 1,500 years ago, the film follows Princess Hind as she escapes the reach of a powerful emperor who demands young women from conquered territories for his own purposes. Forced into exile, Hind must survive the harsh desert while gathering tribes together to resist a common enemy. On paper, the premise promises political intrigue, warfare, and inspiring leadership. In execution, however, the story rarely rises above familiar genre conventions and never finds the dramatic power needed to justify its epic scale.

Aiysha Hart delivers a respectable performance as Hind, bringing dignity and determination to the role. Unfortunately, the screenplay gives her limited opportunities to become a truly unforgettable protagonist. The biggest casting issue comes with Anthony Mackie as the mysterious bandit who becomes one of Hind’s key allies. Mackie is a capable actor, but once again he struggles to command the screen as the central heroic presence in a large-scale production. The character feels underwritten and lacks the charisma necessary to anchor such an ambitious story. Throughout the film, Mackie appears more like a supporting player caught inside someone else’s adventure rather than the rugged warrior the narrative wants him to be.

The real highlight of Desert Warrior is Sharlto Copley as the ruthless commander Jalabzeen. Whenever Copley appears, the energy immediately rises. He brings intensity, menace, and unpredictability to a role that could have easily become another generic villain. For years Copley has remained one of the most underrated actors working in genre cinema, and this film serves as another example of how much value he adds to every project. His performance is more memorable than many of the film’s heroes combined.

The film is directed by Rupert Wyatt, whose previous work includes the highly successful reboot Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Wyatt clearly understands scale and spectacle, and there are moments where his visual storytelling shines. The desert landscapes are beautifully photographed, and the vast environments create an authentic sense of place. Cinematographer Guillermo Garza captures stunning images throughout the film, turning sand, mountains, and endless horizons into the movie’s greatest asset.

The battle sequences are competently staged, featuring horse charges, tribal warfare, and large formations clashing across the desert. The action looks expensive and polished, but it rarely becomes exciting on an emotional level because the audience never develops a strong connection with many of the characters involved. The camera work consistently impresses, while the combat itself often feels routine.

What ultimately hurts Desert Warrior is the gap between its ambition and its storytelling. Every frame suggests a premium historical blockbuster, yet the narrative follows such a predictable path that it struggles to leave a lasting impression. There are flashes of greatness, particularly whenever Sharlto Copley takes control of a scene, but they are not enough to elevate the entire production.

Fans of historical adventures and desert-set war epics may still appreciate the impressive visuals and large-scale action. Those searching for powerful characters, memorable drama, and the emotional impact found in the best historical films may find themselves admiring the scenery more than the story itself.

First of all, Beast deserves recognition simply for being an Australian production. For years, Australia has quietly produced some of the toughest action stars and most talented stunt performers in the industry, and films like Beast demonstrate how far the local film industry has progressed. This is not a small independent sports drama trying to imitate Hollywood. It is an ambitious MMA movie with solid production values, convincing action, and enough heart to stand alongside many international combat sports films.

The story follows Patton James, a former MMA fighter whose career is long behind him. Living a difficult life and struggling to support his family, Patton is forced back into the cage when old rivalries, personal challenges, and financial pressures collide. Revenge, redemption, and one final opportunity to prove himself become the driving forces behind his return to professional fighting.

Daniel MacPherson takes on the role of Patton, and fans of action television may remember him from the high-octane series Strike Back. What makes his casting particularly effective is that MacPherson is no stranger to physical hardship. Having competed in multiple world championship triathlons, Ironman competitions, and endurance events, he brings genuine athletic credibility to the role. His performance is understated and committed, avoiding unnecessary theatrics while making Patton feel like a believable former fighter carrying years of physical and emotional damage.

Opposite him stands Bren Foster as Xavier Grau, and this is where Beast truly finds its strongest asset. Foster is outstanding as the film’s primary antagonist. His martial arts background immediately separates him from many actors who merely play fighters on screen. Every movement feels authentic, every strike carries weight, and every scene reinforces Xavier as a genuine threat. Foster has steadily built an impressive career, and performances like this suggest even bigger opportunities are ahead of him.

One casting choice that feels less convincing is Mojean Aria as Patton’s brother, Malon. While Aria commits fully to the role, standing next to someone like Bren Foster inevitably highlights the difference between an actor portraying a fighter and a genuine martial artist. Perhaps his casting was influenced by his portrayal of Jake LaMotta in The Bronx Bull, but throughout the film his character often reminded me of Scottie Epstein from Never Back Down 2: The Beatdown. He serves the story adequately, but never completely convinces as someone operating at the same level as the elite fighters surrounding him.

Kelly Gale brings warmth and elegance to the role of Lucy, Patton’s wife. Her character provides the emotional balance that many sports dramas need, and she handles the romantic and family elements naturally without becoming merely a supporting accessory to the hero’s journey.

Russell Crowe’s involvement may surprise some viewers. Based on the marketing, one might expect him to play a major role throughout the story. Instead, his screen time is relatively limited. His character Sammy, Patton’s former coach, spends much of the film sidelined. The decision to portray him as physically disabled never fully pays off dramatically, and it is actually his daughter who assumes much of the coaching responsibility. A more active reunion between fighter and mentor might have added greater emotional impact.

Director Tyler Atkins deserves significant credit for bringing everything together. The film embraces familiar sports movie territory, but it does so with confidence. Like classics such as Rocky and Ali, Beast focuses on one man’s inevitable return to form while surrounding him with an ensemble of supporting characters. The story itself offers few surprises, borrowing many familiar combat sports tropes, but it remains engaging because it understands exactly what audiences expect from the genre.

The fight sequences are exceptional. Bren Foster and fight coordinator Sean Harnett deserve enormous praise for creating bouts that feel authentic, brutal, and technically impressive. The action is dynamic throughout, while the training montages capture the energy and determination that define great sports dramas. It is also refreshing to see the story take place inside the world of ONE Championship rather than relying on the more predictable UFC setting. Small touches such as addressing eye pokes—a growing issue in modern MMA—add another layer of realism for combat sports fans.

One fascinating detail behind the scenes is that the film reportedly involved thirty-five producers. Considering the scale of the project, that number reflects just how much effort went into bringing Beast to the screen.

Fans of MMA, boxing dramas, and underdog sports stories will find plenty to enjoy here. The plot may follow a familiar path, but the strong performances, authentic fighting, and impressive choreography make the journey worthwhile. If you appreciate films where heart, discipline, and hard-earned redemption are just as important as the final fight, Beast delivers exactly what it promises.

Spider-Noir brings one of Marvel’s most unusual characters into live-action, blending superhero mythology with the atmosphere of classic 1940s detective stories. Set in a shadow-filled version of New York, the series follows Ben Reilly, a former masked vigilante known as The Spider, who abandoned his crime-fighting life after a personal tragedy. Now working as a private investigator, he is drawn into a conspiracy involving powerful criminals, mysterious superpowered individuals, and a city sinking deeper into corruption.

Leading the series is Nicolas Cage as Ben Reilly, a role that feels both inspired and distracting at the same time. Cage previously voiced Spider-Man Noir in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and while this version is technically a different character, it is nearly impossible not to associate the two. Fortunately, the actor’s naturally eccentric screen presence works surprisingly well within the stylized noir setting. The exaggerated dialogue, heavy shadows, and larger-than-life personalities create an environment where Cage’s unique acting style feels appropriate rather than overwhelming.

Opposing him is Brendan Gleeson as Silvermane, the aging crime boss who has tightened his grip on the city during Reilly’s absence. Gleeson delivers exactly the kind of villain this story needs. Instead of relying on supernatural abilities or physical intimidation, he projects authority through quiet menace and calculated cruelty. His performance gives the series a grounded antagonist who fits perfectly within the crime-driven narrative.

The supporting cast strengthens the show considerably. Karen Rodriguez shines as Janet, the sharp-tongued secretary who provides much of the series’ wit and energy. Lamorne Morris brings charm and determination to journalist Robbie Robertson, while Li Jun Li adds intrigue as the mysterious Cat Hardy. Together they help create a world that feels populated by memorable characters rather than simple comic-book archetypes.

The series comes from showrunner and creator Oren Uziel, known for projects such as The Cloverfield Paradox and 22 Jump Street. Here, he leans heavily into detective fiction, drawing inspiration from classic film noir while mixing it with superhero storytelling. The result occasionally feels familiar, but it remains entertaining because it fully commits to its identity.

Visually, Spider-Noir is where the production truly excels. Whether viewed in black and white or color, the cinematography captures the mood of old Hollywood crime thrillers. Smoke-filled offices, rain-soaked streets, neon reflections, and deep shadows create a striking atmosphere throughout the series. Every frame appears carefully designed to resemble a graphic novel brought to life.

The action scenes are equally effective. Rather than relying on large-scale superhero spectacle, the fights are built around detective-thriller tension and close-quarters combat. Reilly’s spider-sense provides opportunities for inventive choreography, while the camera work keeps the action clear and easy to follow. The series understands that style alone is not enough, and it consistently delivers sequences that feel exciting without becoming exhausting.

While the plot introduces few genuinely new ideas, the combination of noir storytelling, comic-book mystery, and strong visual design keeps the episodes moving at a brisk pace. The twists may not surprise seasoned viewers, but they are delivered with enough confidence and energy to remain engaging.

Spider-Noir is likely to appeal most to viewers who enjoy detective stories as much as superhero adventures. Fans of classic noir films, Nicolas Cage’s distinctive screen presence, and darker comic-book adaptations will find plenty to appreciate. It may not reinvent either genre, but it successfully combines them into an entertaining and stylish mystery that stands apart from the brighter, more conventional superhero series currently dominating television.

What would you do if your quiet suburban neighborhood suddenly became a prehistoric hunting ground? That terrifying question drives The End of Oak Street, an ambitious new sci-fi thriller from writer-director David Robert Mitchell, arriving in theaters on August 14.

The film stars Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor as parents living an idyllic suburban life with their two children. Their ordinary morning takes a shocking turn when they discover that Oak Street no longer leads to neighboring homes or familiar roads. Instead, the street abruptly ends at a massive cliff overlooking an unfamiliar landscape. Moments later, the family realizes they are no longer alone. Roaming the area are towering dinosaurs, and survival instantly becomes their only priority.

Known for the chilling cult hit It Follows, Mitchell once again appears to be blending suspense, mystery, and psychological tension into a unique cinematic experience. Reuniting with several key collaborators from that film, including cinematographer Michael Gioulakis, the director has assembled an impressive creative team. Academy Award-winning composer Michael Giacchino provides the score, while producer J.J. Abrams adds another intriguing layer to the project.

Rumors continue to circulate that the movie may somehow connect to the Cloverfield universe, though no official confirmation has been given. Regardless, with dinosaurs, mystery, and a stellar cast, The End of Oak Street is shaping up to be one of summer’s most intriguing genre releases.

Guy Ritchie’s In the Grey delivers exactly the kind of stylish globe-trotting action thriller audiences expect from the British filmmaker. Built around a team of elite operators tasked with recovering a stolen fortune tied to a dangerous criminal empire, the film moves from luxury boardrooms to hostile combat zones with confidence and style. Beneath the complicated financial schemes and international intrigue lies a straightforward mission movie about professionals navigating a world where legality and criminality often overlap.

The story revolves around Rachel, played by Eiza Gonzalez, who recruits a trusted team of mercenaries to help recover billions hidden by a powerful criminal organization. Alongside her are Sid and Bronco, portrayed by Henry Cavill and Jake Gyllenhaal, two highly skilled operators who approach danger with calm professionalism. The mission quickly spirals into a series of increasingly dangerous operations involving betrayals, firefights, chases, and impossible extractions.

While Cavill receives top billing, it is surprisingly Jake Gyllenhaal who dominates the screen. Ever since his performance in the recent Road House, Gyllenhaal has developed a certain edge that follows him into every scene. If you have seen him as Dalton, it becomes almost impossible to separate that image from his character here.

There is a constant sense of danger beneath his relaxed attitude, and that menace gives Bronco far more personality than the script initially provides. In fact, there are moments where Cavill’s usual star power seems to disappear entirely whenever he shares the frame with Gyllenhaal. Cavill remains solid, but Gyllenhaal simply feels more alive and unpredictable.

Eiza Gonzalez brings elegance, intelligence, and emotional balance to the team. She certainly looks the part of someone capable of navigating both corporate and criminal worlds, and she gives Rachel a sense of wisdom beyond the action. However, the role might have benefited from an older performer with greater dramatic gravitas. Someone like Jessica Chastain could have added additional authority and life experience to the character. Gonzalez does well, but there are moments when the role seems to demand a different level of screen maturity.

As the primary antagonist, Carlos Bardem struggles to fully convince as a feared criminal mastermind. The character works on paper, but the performance never quite reaches the level of intimidation the story requires. It is difficult not to imagine actors such as Mark Strong or Jordi Molla bringing greater presence and unpredictability to the role.

Director Guy Ritchie once again demonstrates his mastery of stylish action storytelling. The polished locations, expensive suits, luxury vehicles, and highly competent operators all feel perfectly at home in his cinematic universe. Even when the plot becomes dense, the film remains entertaining because Ritchie understands how to make professionals at work look fascinating.

The action sequences are sharp and well executed, focusing on tactical operations rather than excessive spectacle. Firefights, close-quarters combat, and chase sequences are staged with clarity and energy. The camera work showcases both the exotic locations and the precision of the team’s operations without sacrificing momentum.

Among the supporting cast, Emmett Scanlan and Kristofer Hivju stand out despite limited screen time. Both actors bring personality and presence whenever they appear, and the film leaves you wanting far more from their characters than it provides.

Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of In the Grey is its ending. Rather than feeling like a complete conclusion, it plays more like the opening chapter of a larger story. Several threads remain open, and the dynamic between the characters suggests future adventures. In many ways, the concept feels perfectly suited for a long-running television series built around impossible missions, international conspiracies, and elite operators tackling one dangerous assignment after another.

Fans of Guy Ritchie’s stylish action formula will find plenty to enjoy here. The film offers strong chemistry, polished production values, and enough action to satisfy thriller enthusiasts. More importantly, it introduces a team that feels capable of carrying many more missions in the future, whether on the big screen or in an episodic format.

They Will Kill You is the kind of movie that reminds audiences why genre mashups can still be exciting when they are handled with imagination and confidence. Combining supernatural horror, hyper-stylized action, and comic-book violence, the film follows Asia Reaves, a woman who accepts a job at a mysterious New York apartment building only to discover that its residents belong to a satanic cult with dark secrets and seemingly impossible powers. What begins as a desperate search for answers quickly turns into a bloody fight for survival as Asia battles her way through an endless parade of cultists, monsters, and supernatural threats.

The film belongs almost entirely to Zazie Beetz, who delivers one of the most physically demanding performances of her career. As Asia, she is vulnerable enough to make audiences care about her situation but tough enough to become a convincing action heroine when chaos erupts. Beetz handles both the dramatic and action-heavy moments with confidence, making it easy to follow her through increasingly outrageous situations.

The villains are led by Patricia Arquette as the sinister Lilith, supported by Heather Graham and Tom Felton as members of the cult. While none of them receive extensive backstories, they serve their purpose well as larger-than-life threats inhabiting the nightmare world of the Virgil building. The focus here is less on psychological depth and more on creating memorable confrontations for the heroine to overcome.

Director Kirill Sokolov clearly embraces his love for genre cinema. His latest film feels like a collision between Kill Bill, Evil Dead, and Hotel Artemis, wrapped inside a graphic novel aesthetic. The influence of those films is obvious, but rather than simply copying them, Sokolov creates an energetic playground where horror and action constantly feed off each other.

The biggest surprise is how well the action works. Modern horror films often struggle when they attempt martial arts or large-scale fight choreography, but They Will Kill You delivers several genuinely impressive combat sequences. The fights are fast, brutal, and creatively staged, making excellent use of the building’s confined spaces. There is a constant sense of momentum as each confrontation escalates into something even more outrageous than the last.

Much of the credit belongs to fight coordinator Russ McCarroll and stunt coordinator Kerry Gregg, whose work gives the movie its heartbeat. Their choreography successfully blends martial arts action with horror violence, creating sequences that feel both visceral and entertaining. The stunt work remains sharp throughout and often elevates scenes that could have become repetitive in lesser hands.

The camera work complements the action nicely, using dynamic movement and strong visual composition to emphasize both the brutality and the dark fantasy atmosphere. The Virgil itself becomes a character, filled with ominous corridors, strange symbols, and nightmarish corners that keep the tension alive between the fights.

Fans of stylized genre cinema will likely have a great time here. Those looking for realistic horror or deep character drama may find it excessive, but viewers who appreciate inventive action, outrageous gore, and unapologetically pulpy storytelling will discover a film that confidently embraces its madness. More importantly, it delivers something increasingly rare in modern action cinema: fight scenes that are genuinely fun to watch.

What happens when bank robbers become social media celebrities? That’s the question at the heart of How to Rob a Bank, the upcoming action-comedy from David Leitch, and the first trailer promises a wildly entertaining mix of heists, humor, and high-speed chaos.

Known for action hits like Bullet Train, Deadpool 2, Atomic Blonde, and The Fall Guy, Leitch appears to be bringing his signature blend of stylish action and explosive stunt work to a modern heist story with a distinctly viral twist.

Nicholas Hoult stars as the charismatic leader of a crew that doesn’t just rob banks—they livestream their crimes to millions of followers. As their online fame explodes, the group becomes unlikely folk heroes by redistributing money and targeting institutions viewed as corrupt. But fame comes with consequences, and their growing popularity soon attracts the attention of law enforcement.

Zoe Kravitz plays a brilliant software engineer tasked with tracking the elusive robbers, while John C. Reilly steps in as a veteran FBI agent determined to shut down the operation before it spirals completely out of control. The result is a fast-moving cat-and-mouse chase packed with daring robberies, car chases, and plenty of social commentary.

With its blend of action, satire, and internet-age absurdity, How to Rob a Bank looks ready to give the heist genre a fresh 21st-century makeover. Watch it only in theaters September 4.

A24 has unleashed Onslaught, and it looks like director Adam Wingard is bringing audiences a wild blend of action, horror, and sci-fi chaos.

Leading the cast is Adria Arjona, who stars as a former Army sniper living a quiet life with her young daughter in a remote desert trailer park. That peace is shattered when a nearby military facility suffers a catastrophic breach, releasing a squad of genetically engineered super soldiers into the surrounding wilderness. Faster, stronger, and deadlier than ordinary humans, the rogue soldiers quickly turn the desert into a battlefield.

With nowhere to run and no one coming to save them, Arjona’s battle-hardened sniper is forced back into action. Armed with her military training and survival instincts, she launches a desperate fight to keep her daughter alive against an enemy that seems almost unstoppable.

Onslaught reunites Wingard with longtime collaborator Simon Barrett, who co-wrote the screenplay from a story they developed together. The duo previously worked on genre favorites such as You’re Next and The Guest, making this latest project a highly anticipated return to their horror roots.

Scheduled to hit theaters on September 4, the film promises explosive combat, terrifying enemies, and a fierce heroine willing to do whatever it takes to protect her family.

What begins as a routine road trip quickly spirals into a nightmare in The Passenger, a tense new thriller arriving in theaters and on VOD on June 5, 2026.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Vadim Perelman, known for House of Sand and Fog and Persian Lessons, the film stars Djimon Hounsou as a struggling Somali-American airport shuttle driver trying to make ends meet in Minneapolis. When a stranded young traveler needs a ride to Chicago, he agrees to the job, hoping for a quick payday. But the seemingly harmless passenger soon reveals a deeply unsettling and unpredictable side.

As the miles roll by, the driver realizes he has become trapped in a terrifying situation with someone who may not be who he claims to be. With no easy way out and danger escalating at every turn, the journey transforms into a nerve-shredding battle for survival.

Adapted from Bennett Fisher’s acclaimed 2016 play Damascus, The Passenger trades explosive action for relentless psychological tension, creating a suspense-filled cat-and-mouse thriller set almost entirely on the road.

Produced by Cary Davies, Norman Golightly, Sean Harner, and Jib Polhemus, the film promises a gripping mix of mystery, paranoia, and emotional intensity. For fans of character-driven thrillers, The Passenger could be one of the most unsettling rides of the year.

War, betrayal, and a desperate rescue mission collide in Man of War, the latest action thriller from veteran filmmaker William Kaufman.

The film stars LaMonica Garrett as Michael Connor, an elite former Navy SEAL and CIA operative who is drawn back into combat when his adopted daughter Riley, an aid worker stationed in Eastern Europe, is captured by mercenaries. Refusing to abandon her, Connor crosses into a war-torn country where shifting battle lines, ruthless enemies, and memories from his past threaten to derail his mission.

As cities crumble and chaos spreads across the battlefield, Connor finds himself facing overwhelming odds in a race against time to bring Riley home. Along the way, he must confront a dangerous mercenary leader and make one final stand to keep the promise that matters most.

Joining Garrett are Jason Patric, Andrew Howard, Daniel Bernhardt, Linds Edwards, and Rosmary Yaneva as Riley. Directed and co-written by Kaufman, Man of War looks set to deliver exactly what action fans crave: intense shootouts, relentless tension, and a hero who refuses to quit. While skipping theaters, this summer thriller could become a must-watch for fans of modern military action.

The film arrives on VOD on July 3, delivering a high-stakes story packed with gun battles, mercenaries, and personal sacrifice.
