It's Friday madeit finds time! I have missed looking through the wonderful stores on madeit, there is such talent in Australia!

Wow - I've been MIA for longer than I intended! I have had a lovely break, putting my focus into my gorgeous family, they all just amaze me each and everyday and I'm sometimes scared to blink incase I miss something. It all seems to be flying by faster than I'd like. Can you believe we are nearly half way through the year already??? I think I'm still stuck in March!

Other news ~ we have welcomed a new member to our family. Nope not a baby and nope not a new pet........it's a lovely caravan that we are looking forward to getting lots of use from creating many, many lovely family holiday memories. Can you believe we have never had a proper family holiday and we are coming up to our 9th wedding anniversary at the end of the month. About time we do, I think!! We picked it up during the week and the kids were so excited that over the week-end we set it up to have lunch inside!

With Mother's day on the way I thought I's spoil myself with a new place mat too. I'm in desperate need of new placemats and I thought what better way of getting them than making one's I really like!

Crochet game - free pattern!

I wanted to make little miss something special for her 3rd birthday. Time has been very limited lately, so with little time and a smidge of imagination, I came up with a crochet matching game so she can learn her shapes. Do your children like to play matching games? mine most certainly do!

Here is the pattern if you would like to make the same for your kiddies.

This pattern is written in U.S crochet terminology. This Pattern is for personal use only, Please don't sell the pattern or the finished product. Thank-you.

I used 8 ply yarn and a 3.5mm hook but the pattern would be easily adaptable for most yarns and a larger hook.

To make the square:

Chain 17, sc in 2nd chain from hook and in each chain across - 16sc.

* Chain 1, turn, sc in each sc across * - 16sc

Repeat from * to * a further 16 rows - you should have 18 rows in total.

When attaching shapes to the square base make sure you sew in the middle of the stitches and don't go though to the other side so that no yarn/colour is visible on the back.

Circle:

12 DC into a magic ring or chain 2, 12 DC in second chain from hook - 12DC

SS into first st, chain 2

2 DC in each DC around - 24DC's

SS into first st leave a long tail so you can attach it to the square.

Square:

Ch 9, sc in 2nd chain from hook and in each chain st along - 8sc

* Chain 1, turn, sc in each sc across * - 8sc

Continue from * to * a further 6 rows. There should be 8 rows in total. Leave a long tail so you can attach it to the square

Star:

20DC into magic circle or Ch 5, sl st in first ch to form ring, chain 3 DC 19 into ring. - 20DC

Sc in first dc, * sk next dc, shell (3 dc, 2 ch, 3 dc) in next dc, sk next dc, sc in next dc *. Repeat * to * all around. 5 shells & 5 sc’s. Leave a long tail so you can attach it to the square

Triangle:

Chain 13, sc in 2nd chain from hook and each sc across - 12sc

Chain 1, turn, sc in each sc across- 12sc

Ch 1, turn, skip 1 sc, sc in each across till the last 2 sc's, skip 1 sc, sc in last sc - 10sc

Repeat the last 2 rows until you're left with 1sc. Leave a long tail so you can attach it to the square.

Heart:

Ch 4, make all stitches into the first chain, 3trc, 3dc, ch 1, 1trc, ch 1, 3dc, 3trc, ch2, slip stitch.

Ch3, sc and hdc in first trc, 3hdc in next stitch, 2hdc in next stitch, 1sc in next 4 stitches, ch 1, dc in trc, ch 1, sc in next 4 stitches, 2hdc in next stitch. 3hdc in next stitch, hdc and sc in next stitch, chain 3 and slip stitch in joining. Leave a long tail so you can attach it to the square.

Rectangle:

Ch 13, sc in 2nd chain from hook and in each st along - 12sc

Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across - 12sc

Continue from * to * a further 3 rows. There should be 5 rows in total. Leave a long tail so you can attach it to the square.

Diamond:

Chain 9, sc in 2nd chain from hook and each sc across - 8sc

Chain 1, turn, sc in each sc across- 8sc

Ch 1, turn, skip 1 sc, sc in each across till the last 2 sc's, skip 1 sc, sc in last sc - 8sc

Repeat the last 2 rows until you're left with 1sc.

Attach yarn to the foundation chain sc in each sc across - 8sc

Chain 1, turn, sc in each sc across- 8sc

Ch 1, turn, skip 1 sc, sc in each across till the last 2 sc's, skip 1 sc, sc in last sc - 8sc

Repeat the last 2 rows until you're left with 1sc. Leave a long tail so you can attach it to the square.

Cross:

Ch 13, sc in 2nd chain from hook and in each st along - 12sc

Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across - 12sc

Continue from * to * a further 3 rows.

There should be 5 rows in total.

* Attach yarn to 5th sc and in the next 4 sc's - 4sc

Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across - 4sc

Repeat last row 2 more time 4 rows in total *

Repeat from * to * on the opposite side to create a cross.

Leave a long tail so you can attach it to the square.

Friday Madeit Finds

I'm thinking my wardrobe could do with a complete overhaul - I'd love a new style. I know what I like in clothes but somehow always end up with the daggy mum look. Not at all what I like but easy to maintain it seems lol. I keep telling myself that I will get that shirt, skirt or dress when I loose a little bit of weight but that doesn't seem to be happening. I also keep telling myself I will sew some new pretties for me but again it's when I loose the weight. I'm thinking now it might be time for me to lose some weight, it's not like it's a huge amount I want to loose just around 10 kilo's!!! I can loose 5 pretty easy and have done so many, many times as my weight fluctuates within a 5 kilo range pretty regularly. I just can't seem to loose the other 5kg. No time like the present to start, right? Well I've sewn some more wheat grass, so I'll be back on that next next week, which always makes me feel great. I suffer from an iron deficiency and find that on wheat grass my iron levels are within normal range. Yes, I should have it always but as I have it fresh daily it does create it's own level of work.

A wonderful week-end spent with my brood, fishing at the bay.

A big full moon and 3 very tired kiddies.

All in all a magical time spent doing the simplest of activities with the ones I love. Something so peaceful about being by the bay hearing the water lapping at the pier, the sun shining on your face and the beautiful sea breeze - Heaven!

I have also been spending some quality time with my new friends in my backyard.

These are my 3 new friend, we were just acquaintances but we have recently gotten to know each other a whole lot better.

There is a lot more to be done and I can hear them calling me out there now!

It's all about faces this week. I've been thinking a lot about the face we show to the world. The brave face we put on when we are nervous or scared, the happy face we put on when we are sad e.t.c. The face with or without make up on it, the face that tells a story through each line or winkle. The face that I have - that no one else does, in blogland I get to hide that face which makes life both easier and more difficult. I wonder sometimes what my face says to strangers about me. Bumblebee Beanie Pattern

This pattern is written in U.S crochet terminology. This Pattern is for personal use only, Please don't sell the pattern or the finished product. Thank-you.
This hat is crocheted to fit a head approx 20 inches in size. Roughly 4+ years old. (To give you an indication it fits both my 4 year old and 7 year old, so please measure head for good fit.)

You will need:
- 4.00mm crochet hook
- 8 ply yarn in red and black
- fiber fill for the antenna.

Create a ring by either the magic circle method or by chaining 5 and slip stitch into 2nd chain from hook.
Round 1 (in Black): 12 Double crochet (DC) in circle, slip stitch (SS) in the top of 1st DC - 12DC's
Round 2: Chain 2, 2DC in each DC around, SS into top of 1st DC - 24 DC's
Round 3: Chain 2, *1 DC in next DC, 2DC's in next DC* Continue from * to * to the end. SS into top of 1st DC - 36DC's
Round 4: Chain 2, *1 DC in the next 2 DC's, 2 DC's in the next DC* Continue from * to * to the end. SS into top of 1st DC - 48DC's
Round 5: Chain 2, *1 DC in the next 3 DC's, 2 DC's in the next DC* Continue from * to * to end. SS into top of 1st DC - 60DC's
Round 6: Chain 2, *1 DC in the next 4 DC's, 2 DC's in the next DC* Continue from * to * to end. SS into top of 1st DC - 72DC's
Round 7: Chain 2, DC in each dc to the end. SS into top of 1st DC - 72DC's
Cut Black yarn leaving a tail to sew in and secure and attach a new yarn in yellow
Round 8-9: in Yellow ~ Repeat round 7
Round 10 - 11: in Black ~ Repeat round 7
Round 12 -13: in Yellow ~ Repeat round 7
Round 14 - 15: in black ~ Repeat round 7
Round 16-17: in Yellow ~ Repeat round 7
Round 18-19: in Black ~ Repeat round 7
Cut and fasten off.
Sew in all ends.

To make the antenna: (Make 2) worked in the round so grab a stitch marker to mark the first stitch!! Stuff as you go!
Create a ring by either the magic circle method or by chaining 5 and slip stitch into 2nd chain from hook.
Round 1: 6 sc into ring
Round 2: 2 sc in each sc = 12 sc's in total ( remember to mark your first stitch)
Round 3: *sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc* continue from * to * all the way around; 18 sc in total.
Round 4: *sc in next 2 sc's, 2 sc in next sc* continue from * to * all the way around; 24 sc's in total.
Round 5-8: Sc in each sc around; 24 sc's in each round.
Round 9: *Sc in next 2 sc's; dec sc2tog* continue from * to * all the way around; 18 sc's in total.
Round 10: *Sc in next sc; dec sc2tog* continue from * to * all the way around; 12 sc in total.
Round 11: dec sc2tog all the way around; 6 sc in total.
Stuff firmly with fiber fill.
Round 12-16: sc in each sc; 6 sc's in total each round.
slip stitch into next stitch and fasten off leaving a long tail to attach to the beanie.

Now you can attach them to your beanie and you're done!

Monday musings!

It seems like yesterday I was holding this little girl in my arms for the first time! I really can't get over how much she has grown, not far off 3 now and just so talkative and independent, busy and fun to be around. I've really enjoyed having some time just with little miss now that both boys are at school. We have been drawing together, having tea parties, cooking and getting up to all sorts really.

I whipped up this beanie this morning cause Melbourne is having it's usual strange weather patterns and it been a bit cooler and rainy here over the week-end. Miss and I plan on having some nice wintery outings this year too!
