We’ve had our second design – The Publisher – live for a little while now. It’s highly customisable and is perfectly suited to professional online publications. It’s the design powering My Secret Playlist, and here’s what Managing Editor Zolton Zavos has to say about it;

I love the style and flexibility that the Bullet Web Studio template offered us. They turned our new website around for us quickly, and with a design that just sits beautifully around our weekly Secret Playlist format. The colours, logo, layout and style were all customized for us, and it’s been easy for us to make our own changes too. I’ve been tinkering with the sidebars and with moving the recent comments, recent posts, and ad box around. Why your business should be blogging

Blogging is great for business. By publishing articles relevant to your business and client base you are communicating with clients and prospects in an open and honest forum, and if you allow and encourage comments you’ll engage in an open and honest conversation. Such dialogue enhances the image of your business and presents your brand favourably, and allows prospective clients to feel a connection with your business even prior to making contact.

On the more technical side, blogging creates a deep database of relevant content, internal and external links, and also encourages inbound links if the articles you’re writing are relevant to other websites and blogs. All of these aspects of blogging work wonders for search by assisting Google and other search engines to find your site, which drives qualified traffic and – on the balance of probabilities – boosts your sales.

Why we created Bullet Web Studio

A few days after launching, we’ve had some great feedback on our market positioning and customisable design. It’s a good time to discuss why we created Bullet Web Studio and I recently posted some of the reasoning on my blog. As I said;

Many clients’ needs aren’t particularly different from the next. Clients want Google to find their website. They want their site to look good and be on-brand and, despite what some of the design crowd might think, most of them don’t care for heavy, complex designs. They want simple, functional sites that look good and do their job. Above all, they want their site to sell. A website is an investment, not an indulgence. Every investment needs to provide a return and, with a website, the return is usually in the form of sales.

Funny thing is, this is what users want too – they want functional websites that help them research efficiently, buy, connect, comment, discuss, browse, listen, learn, or undertake whatever transaction they’re seeking. Users want to dip into your site, find what they want, get what they need, and get out. ‘Over the top’ designs usually won’t help you sell, nor will they necessarily improve your brand image. Web sales typically aren’t realised through indulgent interfaces – they’re realised because visitors discover what you can offer them, and you do a good job of telling them why they need it. Functional design and good copy achieves this.

The reasons are probably quite apparent – we’re filling a market need. This is how the idea for Bullet Web Studio was born.

After knocking out sites for years, a common formula for success appeared and this is the foundation of all Bullet designs. Sites are delivered to clients featuring the client’s logo and demonstration content, which clients can easily customise to suit their own content and do so indefinitely.

Bullet Web Studios will be rolling out numerous designs well-suited to many different client industries with the long-term goal to help realise the online dreams of any client. Our first design, SMB, is for small-to-medium businesses, particularly those in the services industry.

Clearly, Bullet Web Studio isn’t for everyone. It’s not for clients who want to dazzle (and perhaps confuse) audiences with six-figure interfaces. It’s not for brands that want to create ginormous virtual worlds and spread ‘awareness’. It’s for clients who want to achieve online success with proven methods and good, simple, usable designs… and all for less than $1,000.
