Welcome to the Sweet World of Petals & Polkadots There’s something magical about mixing dots with the timeless charm of florals. That magic is what inspired my newest fabric collection, Petals & Polkadots. In a palette of cherry red, soft pink, creamy white, and linen, this line is a celebration of all things sweet, romantic, and cottage-chic. You’ll find delicate blossoms, whimsical dots, classic ginghams, slender stripes, and graceful paisleys—each print designed to mix and match with vintage flair. Whether you’re drawn to romantic reds or the softest shades of pink, this collection brings a touch of joy and whimsy to every stitch. Petals & Polkadots Quilt: To bring Petals & Polkadots to life, I’ve designed a special appliqué quilt I’m also calling “Petals & Polkadots”. It’s filled with blooming flowers, charming birds, and plenty of love. It’s the perfect project for anyone who loves cottage gardens and appliqué stitching. I think it’s terrific for Valentine’s Day. The finished quilt measures 52″ x 54″. First Blooms: Here’s another fun one—a posy-filled quilt for any time you need some flowers or romance in your life—sweet, simple, and oh-so-lovely in red and pink. I’m calling this one First Blooms. This quilt finishes at 50″ x 50″, and the best thing is that you can make it from a Jelly Roll and a charm pack. Posy Time: Posy Time is a charm pack quilt that finishes at 32″ x 37″. It’s simple, fun, and fast. You can finish this one in a day! The only thing you have to decide is whether you want your flowers made from applique circles or yo-yos! Miss Sweet Pea & February Romance: And if you’d like to add a little charm to your home, these mini quilts are designed to warm up any room with cozy, handmade style. You can hang them on a wall or simply display them on a table. They each measure 18″ x 18″. I’ve named the little chicken quilt “Miss Sweet Pea” and the little basket filled with hearts “February Romance”. Whether you’re planning a quilt, a quick gift, or something beautiful for your home, Petals & Polkadots is full of inspiration. I can’t wait to see what you make with it! You can pre-order a Moda Petals & Polkadots quilt kit or a fat quarter bundle today and tomorrow on our website. Petals & Polkadots fabric line arrives in April 2026!
Hi everyone! I’m excited to share my Moda Blockheads 6 quilt block, I’m calling Sunday Best! There’s something so special about Sundays, and this block reminds me of my favorite “Sunday best” traditions—a pretty dress, a fresh bouquet on the table, or a lovingly pieced quilt on the back of a church pew. It’s classic, sweet, and just a little bit nostalgic. I made my blocks using my new fabric collection, A Very Sweet Christmas, which will ship to quilt shops this month! The yardage is expected to arrive within the next week or two, followed by the pre-cuts and kits a week later. We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of our Sweet Christmas Kit, and if you pre-ordered one from us, we’ll be shipping it to you very soon. If you’re sewing along with Blockheads 6, this block is a cheerful addition to your sampler quilt! It gives you lots of room to play with color and contrast. Sunday Best Piecing Tips Here are a few of my tips for sewing the Sunday Best block: 1. Choose playful prints with contrastThis block is great for showcasing a mix of florals, stripes, and tiny tossed motifs. I used a bold print (penguins, of course) in the flying geese—it gives the block a little “gift wrapped” look that’s so festive, and I followed it up with a softer “shabby chic” look for my second block! 2. Press seams open for a flatter finishFor this block, I pressed all my seams open. It helps reduce bulk and keeps everything lying smoothly, especially when matching points. I used my trusty clapper and a spritz of Flatter spray to really set the seams crisp and flat. This is the first time I’ve used the Flatter spray, and I really like it! My friend Nancy, who also works for Bunny Hill, recommended it. I haven’t tried it for spray starch appliqué yet, but it’s on my list to try next. 4. Lay out the block before sewingBefore joining the rows, lay out the whole block to double-check placement, especially with prints that have direction (hello, stripes!). It’s also a great time to step back and make sure the colors feel balanced. 5. Pin and sew carefullySince seams are pressed open, pin directly through the seam lines to match them precisely. Take your time sewing rows together. Use a slightly shorter stitch length for stability. 6. Final pressOnce your block is complete, give it a final press—again, I used Flatter and my clapper for this step. Take a moment to admire that crisp, sweet finish. It really does feel like your Sunday Best! You can find the pattern and more information here on the Moda Blog! I made some extra blocks so I could turn them into a table runner for Christmas morning! This was such an easy project! First, I added 2 1/2″ (cut size) sashing strips between the blocks. The inner border and outer border strips were also cut 2 1/2″ wide. You can use any of the 9″ blocks for this runner, so if you have extra leftover save them for a project like this one. I can’t wait to see your version of Sunday Best! Be sure to share your block using #modablockheads and tag me too—I’d love to see how you bring this block to life in your own way. Wishing you Sundays filled with stitches and smiles, Anne

Thanksgiving whizzed by while I was surrounded by Hollyhocks & Roses fabric! It seemed crazy, but about two weeks before Turkey Day, the UPS man started delivering boxes of pink, red, and blue Hollyhocks & Roses fabrics and pre-cuts in the same colors. The mood at Bunny Hill was light and airy, even though the outside temperatures were cold and wet. In between cutting kits, I made my Thanksgiving dinner shopping list! The good news is that we’ve cut a bunch of kits, and they’re available on our website now! So, maybe it’s time to start planning your sewing for 2025! Central Park Quilt Kit: Central Park is our newest applique quilt, and it’s a cute one. We’ve packaged up all the fabric you need for the quilt top, outer border, binding, embroidery floss, and pattern. The backing fabric is not included. Central Park finishes at 53″ x 60″, so it’s the perfect size for a spring wall quilt. You can find the Central Park kit here. Frequent Flyers Quilt Kit The finished Frequent Flyers quilt measures 46 ½” x 46 ½”, making it the perfect size for a wall quilt or a table topper. Our kit includes all the fabric needed for the quilt top: fabrics, two charm packs for the butterflies, binding, pattern, and embroidery floss. Backing fabric is not included. You can find the Frequent Flyers kit here. Rainbow Sherbet Quilt Kit 53″ x 65″ Charm Pack Friendly and so much fun to applique! Our kit includes all the fabric you need to make this darling quilt top, along with the charm packs for the petal applique and, of course, the binding. The applique blocks are portable, and you can take them to work on anywhere you go. The kit includes the pattern; you only need to add the backing. You can find the Rainbow Sherbet kit here. My Home Sweet Home Moda Quilt Kit Celebrate our wonderful USA with this beautiful quilt designed by Wendy Sheppard. Featuring our Hollyhocks & Roses fabrics, this quilt is one you’ll turn to every Memorial Day, July 4th, and Veterans Day. This Moda quilt kit includes all the fabric for the quilt top, binding, and pattern. The quilt measures 68″ x 68″, and the My Home Sweet Home kit is here. I’ve never had this many quilt kits available at once, and we have my granddaughter Alyssa to thank for them. She just graduated from college and is working for me now. I don’t know how long I’ll have her, but I love every minute of it! Pre-orders for my new Sweet Christmas quilt kit, which will ship from Moda in June 2025, will be available to order next week. I’ll let you know when the pre-orders are on our website. Have a wonderful week! Anne

Happy end of September, and welcome to October! Spooky Halloween Finally, we’ve made Spooky Halloween available in PDF downloadable format! This pattern from Bunny Hill combines piecing and applique, and it’s so much fun to make! It’s a quilt your family will enjoy year after year! The featured fabric is Spooky Delights from Bunny Hill and Moda Fabrics. Spooky Delights fabrics have been out for a while and are getting harder to find, but we’ve included a color fabric guide, making it easy to substitute fabrics. Take your fabric guide to the quilt shop and search for Halloween fabrics in similar colors and “look.” If you’re a Halloween lover, chances are you may have plenty of fabric in your stash to pull from! I love quilts with pieced blocks and applique, and I think you will, too. Nothing boring about Spooky Halloween! The finished quilt measures 46″ x 53″. Here’s the link to the fabric guide: Spooky Halloween Fabric Guide Here’s a link to the Spooky Halloween PDF pattern on our website! Postcard Cuties for Halloween If you love Halloween Jelly Rolls, you’re in luck because our Postcard Cuties for Halloween quilt is made from a jelly roll and a bit of yardage! There are some really cute Jelly Rolls right now, and my favorite is Hey Boo by Lella Boutique and Moda Fabrics. You can still find these Jelly Rolls, charm packs, and yardage at quilt shops and online. I’ve just made this pattern into a downloadable PDF pattern and you can find it here on our website! Here’s another idea for this quilt: Why not try it as an orange work quilt? Look how cute these embroideries are in simple orange floss! I love two-color quilts, and for an orange work, you need assorted shades of orange, cream, and maybe a touch of pink! Tiggy If you’re looking for a quick gift or decoration for Halloween, why not bring home a new kitty? Tiggy is quick and easy to make; you can finish her in a day! The pattern includes instructions for making her wool pumpkin, too! Here’s a link to our Tiggy PDF pattern. Pumpkinville I recently made Pumpkinville into a PDF pattern for those of you who never had the chance to make this quilt. This was so much fun to design, and it’s always been one of my favorites! When the idea of a pumpkin town popped into my head, it kept multiplying, and soon, the town of Pumpkinville was born. You can find this as a downloadable PDF pattern on my website. It’s almost time to get ready for those trick-or-treaters, everyone! Working on a few Halloween sewing projects will put you in the mood! Believe it or not, my granddaughters in Germany go trick-or-treating too! Halloween may not be “big” in Germany, but it’s starting to catch on! Have a wonderful week! Anne

Hollyhocks & Roses is only one month away from its November shipping date! Can you believe November will be here before we know it? I’m always surprised at how fast the year passes, but this year, 2024, is flying by on jet skis! I can hardly believe it! In anticipation of Hollyhocks & Roses, patterns are now available in print and PDF formats on my website! Central Park… Look around the next time you walk through a park close to you. A lot happens in a park that you’ll miss if you don’t pay attention. Mother Nature has so many sweet gifts for us! She’s been busy bringing us caterpillars, squirrels, snails, worms, frogs, birds, nests, flowers, and, of course, trees, and you can find them all in our Central Park quilt. Oh, and I can’t forget butterflies! Central Park (the quilt) is traveling right now, and you can see it in person at Material Things in Monroe, Louisiana! Be sure to stop by and say hello! Here’s the address: Material Things 2305 Forsythe Avenue Monroe, LA 71201 My quilter, Becky, did some fabulous quilting on this quilt. She included rainbows and trees on the borders and little surprises everywhere else on the quilt! It’s wonderful to see, so be sure to stop by Material Things! Rainbow Sherbet… The Rainbow Sherbet pattern is available on our website in PDF and print format! I’m working on this quilt now and love how my blocks look—dainty and sweet! I made an SVG file of the petal templates and cut them using my Cricut cutting machine. I was able to cut all the freezer paper templates I needed in a very short amount of time. You are missing out if you haven’t tried using a cutting machine for our applique templates! Many of our new patterns will have SVG files available very soon, and if you’ve purchased Rainbow Sherbet and would like to use my template SVG file for your cutting machine, send me an email, and I’ll gladly share it with you. Scrap Bags… I just listed Hollyhocks & Roses Scrap Bags on our website. These are perfect for making the petal templates in Rainbow Sherbet, so if you plan on making this quilt, you can get a head start on the petals right now! You’ll have something to play around with while waiting for the fabric to arrive in November. Scrap bags are limited, and we only allow 2 per person. Frequent Flyers… Frequent Flyers is such a simple and sweet butterfly quilt, and I love it in Hollyhocks and Roses fabrics. You can make a smaller version with just two or three rows of butterflies, rotate a few of them, and you’ll quickly have a table runner! Iris… Iris is our newest petite pattern, available in print or PDF! This is a great beginner pattern; you might want to share it with someone you know who is just starting to sew. Iris is so cute on a garland or a wreath. Bet you can’t make just one! Have a really fun week, everyone! I’ll be back soon! Hugs, Anne

Many of you have already made these hearts, but if you missed Snow Happy Hearts in 2018, we’ve made them available again. Just in time for some Christmas sewing, you can choose the ones you love best or purchase the complete set of twelve. These are downloadable PDF patterns. There’s a snowman for every month of the year, and together, they make the cutest set of ornaments! You can decorate a tree, garland, or wreath, give them as gifts, use them as party favors, fill a glass bowl for a table centerpiece, or dress up a table by putting one at each place setting. For the snowmen, we used Primitive Muslin Flannel from Primitive Gatherings and Moda Fabrics. You can find it on our website, and you’ll need about 1/2 yard for all the snowmen. I loved using this fabric for the snowmen; it works for any applique method and it’s soft to the touch! I’ve added a Happy New Year banner for the January snowman. You can print this banner on your inkjet printer using the June Tailor Fabric Sheets, which are also available on our website. One fabric sheet will print 14 Happy New Year banners, so you’ll have plenty if you want to make several of the January hearts as gifts. June Tailor Fabric Sheets Materials Needed to make these hearts: Two 7” squares of fabric for each heart Assorted fabric scraps for appliqué ½” yd Primitive muslin flannel or wool felt for snowmen appliqué (This is enough for 12 hearts.) ½ yard of ¼” to ⅜” ribbon for each heart Polyester Stuffing Your favorite appliqué tools, appliqué thread for stitching, and a water erasable marker Freezer paper or Lightweight Fusible Web for applique Assorted Embroidery Floss Colors (see patterns) You’ll find all of the hearts on our website! Here’s the link: Snow Happy Hearts Have a great week, everyone! Anne

When it comes to applique, I can barely contain myself. It’s a passion that has taken me through good times and hard times, always keeping my hands and thoughts occupied. The minute I pick up that needle and thread, I feel relaxed and savor every moment! Rainbow Sherbet: I always like a small, portable applique project that I can take and quickly pull out to work on. One of our new quilt patterns is exactly what I want. Meet Rainbow Sherbet! It’s 53″ x 65″, and the blocks finish at 6″ x 6″. Rainbow Sherbet is a pieced quilt with four applique petals on each four-patch block. The applique petals are charm-pack friendly and so easy! We’ll have an SVG file available for the petal applique so you can easily cut the templates with your Cricut or other cutting machine. Iris: I’ve added another Petite pattern to our assortment of Petites. I’ve named her Iris, and she’s a 5 1/2″ x4 3/4″ butterfly ready to embellish your favorite wreath, garland, or garden trellis. Add her to the top of a present for someone special, hang her from a decorative knob to embellish a room, or hang her from your curtain tiebacks. She’s ready to fly your way, and you can find the PDF Downloadable pattern for Iris under what’s new on our website. The print version will follow soon! As you can see below, Iris has friends who want to fly your way, too! Abigail: Suzanne Jackman of Splendid Speck made her Abigail pattern using Hollyhocks & Roses. This beautiful pieced quilt measures 60″ x 72″ and is made from two easy blocks: a star and a square in a square. Imagine this quilt displayed in your home to welcome summer or to celebrate the 4th of July! I love it! I’m always excited when another designer uses my fabric to showcase one of their designs. It creates options I never thought of and allows us to see how versatile a fabric line can be! Horace’s Hollyhocks: Wendy Sheppard of Ivory Spring has designed another pattern using Hollyhocks & Roses, and I love it! Horace’s Hollyhocks is 56″ x 68″, and these beautiful pieced flowers make a wonderful summer quilt. Wendy’s used fat quarters and a little bit of yardage. These hollyhocks will be ready to bloom in your house starting in early November. What a fun quilt this will be! I hope you love all the pattern options for Hollyhocks & Roses as much as I do! Blog Update: If you’ve followed along for a while, you may have noticed we’ve had trouble with our subscription service. Many of you weren’t notified when I made a new post. The good news is that we’ve solved this issue by updating our blog, and now, you should be getting notifications about posts! If you’d like to comment, you will need to enter your email again, but the next time you comment, my blog will remember you. I love your comments, so please don’t stop! Scrap Bags: One more announcement! My Summer House scrap bags are on our website! Snatch up one or two bags while you can—scrap bags never last long. Back soon! Anne

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you know I’ve been talking about my next fabric line, Hollyhocks & Roses. If you haven’t seen it, you’re in for a treat! It combines the prettiest colors; blue, pink, red, and cream! The fabrics in this line make me feel like I’m in a country garden! Hollyhocks & Roses ships to quilt shops this November, just in time to take you into the New Year with some beautiful new projects. We’re taking pre-orders on our website for Fat Quarter Bundles and three new kits. Central Park Central Park is our newest applique quilt, and it’s a cute one. It finishes at 53″ x 60″, so it’s the perfect size for a spring wall quilt. Central Park is a busy place surrounded by move-in-ready houses. It’s a fun neighborhood! You’ll find a kit for this quilt on our website, and you can pre-order it through June 15th. Frequent Flyers This is the year for butterfly quilts, so I designed one for all the applique lovers! Frequent Flyers is 46″ x 46″, and these little butterflies are made using charm packs! This is an easy, portable applique project that can go everywhere you do! You can pre-order our Frequent Flyer kit on our website, and we have two versions. Pick your favorite color, pink or blue, and we’ll ship you a kit in late November or early December. My Home Sweet Home I love it when other designers choose my fabric to use in their designs. Wendy Sheppard of Ivory Spring Patterns is a favorite of mine, and she used Hollyhocks & Roses to bring us a wonderful Americana quilt. Moda has boxed this quilt up as a kit, and we’re offering it as a pre-order on our website through June 15th. My Home Sweet Home measures 68″ x 68″. Wendy will have a sew-along starting in January 2025! I love this quilt, and I love having Wendy use my fabrics. In my next post, I’ll share another quilt she’s designed using Hollyhocks & Roses. You can pre-order on our website through June 15th. Here’s the link for our pre-orders; Hollyhocks & Roses Pre-Orders. In my next blog post, I’ll share four other patterns that use this fabric line. Have a great week, everyone. Anne

Hi Everyone, and welcome to Moda’s Blockheads 5, Group 2, Block 15 block! I’m Anne Sutton of Bunny Hill Designs, and if you’re visiting for the first time, I’m glad you’re here! I love a Churn Dash quilt block, so of course, I had to use a variation for my Blockheads 5-15 block! Since My Summer House fabric line has just shipped, I selected these fabrics for my block! It was so much fun to play with this block! It’s simple to make, and if you follow Anna Dineen’s directions, you’ll have it completed in no time! She’s made the flying geese and half-square triangles slightly oversized so you can trim them to perfect points. Thank you, Anna! I selected four fabrics for my sample block. I made the 12″ block, and I love how it looks. It was hard to choose what fabrics to use from My Summer House collection… I’ve mocked up some digital samples to show you different colorways. I love how this simple Churn Dash block can look so different in each one! If you love pink and red, this next block is for you! This one is calling my name! I may have to make a few for a small table runner! Do you have a favorite from all of these? I can’t wait to see how all of your blocks look! Last but not least, I couldn’t resist adding the house print as the center square… The best advice I can give you is to measure, measure, measure! If you’re a beginner, keep a ruler by your sewing machine and measure each seam allowance to ensure you are at 1/4″. If you’re off at all, take the time to correct it right away. It will save you time later! Here’s the link to my Keepsake block on the Moda website: Keepsake Churn Dash Block Have fun, everyone! Hugs, Anne
