Yahoo Auctions Going, Going, Gone !

Yahoo has posted on its website recently that it will close down the U.S. and Canda Auctions site on this coming 16th June 2007.

However, Yahoo will still allow sellers, bidders and buyers to use limited features and tools until 29th October 2007. All sellers will be able to list an item for sale on Yahoo Auctions the latest by 3rd June 2007, and no more auto re-submit since 4th May 2007.

Yahoo will leave the Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan Auctions site in business.

A media metrics firm, Hitwise reported that on week ending 5th May 2007, 94% of the visitors to the auction sites Hitwise tracking are to eBay Web sites (which are eBay, eBay Motors and eBay UK and Canada). Yahoo Auctions only accounted 0.19% of those visitors.

In fact, Yahoo is actually sending a huge number of traffic to eBay. As at week ending 5th May 2007, eBay is receiving 1.34% of the searches in Yahoo, while Yahoo Auctions only benefited 0.01% of that same period of traffic.

One of the reasons Yahoo closes the Auctions site, according to Hitwise Research Director LeeAnn Prescott, is it had became eBay’s exclusive provider of graphical advertisements as well as sponsored advertisements.
With this move, Yahoo will be closing down the Yahoo Photos as well.

Starting the coming summer, Yahoo is giving the users a choice on how to close the Yahoo Photos account, where the users can move the photso to other service provider such as Flickr, Shutterfly, Kodak, Snapfish, or Photobucket.

This industry is the greatest polluter of our waters and is directly responsible for 85 percent of soil erosion. Our country's meat addiction is steadily poisoning and depleting our land, water and air.

Of all agricultural land in the United States, 87 percent is used to raise animals for food. That's 45 percent of the total land mass of the United States.

Methane is one of four greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming. The world's 1.3 billion cows produce one-fifth of all methane emitted into the atmosphere.

Raising animals for food causes more water pollution in the United States than any other industry because animals raised for food produce 20 times the excrement of the entire human population-230,000 pounds every second.

Of all raw materials and fossil fuels used in the United States, more than one-third is used to raise animals for food.

Rain forests are being destroyed at a rate of 125,000 square miles per year. The primary cause of deforestation is raising animals for food.

Coupled with the inhumane treatments of animals that are raised for human consumption, the costs of raising and processing these animals for human consumption is becoming too high. Make a commitment to reduce or eliminate meats from your diet, and learn to live from the plant foods the environment naturally provides. The animals and your conscience will be better for it.

A cure for cancer exists through the use of yoga, a San Antonio, Texas, cancer specialist said during a seminar in Oklahoma City in the 1980s.But physicians refused to acknowledge the cure, said Col. Hansa Raval, M.D., a pathologist with the United States Army. Dr. Raval said her work in cytotechnology - a diagnostic branch of medicine designed to pinpoint early stages of cancer was fruitless until she began researching the use of non-conventional methods of treatment.

The specialist said she witnessed the use of Raja yoga and meditation cure crippling arthritis, headaches and even cancer.

And even though Raval offers proof, which she said was collected during two years of study at the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University in India, she has been dismissed by other members of the medical profession as a kook.

Yoga's success as a treatment method is due to another hypothesis Raval proposes that 98 percent of all cancer is psychosomatic. This is not chanting or mantra reciting, the physician said. It's not based on scriptures. It's not a cult. It's not biofeedback. It's deeper than that. This is a full-proof method of meditation, a detailed understanding of what the soul is.

Raval maintains that medical schools belittle the study of non-conventional methods of cancer treatment in favor of conventional methods such as radiation, chemotherapy, and treatment through machines.

Medical schools teach students that the human being is only a body. But the mind has the power to cure the body. By definition, psychosomatic means a combination of mind, or soul and body.

The soul creates the disease, but the body suffers. If the psyche creates the disease, the only way to cure it is through the psyche. It's a very simple formula: treating the seed of the problem. Further, studies in parapsychology all point to the treatment of illness through treatment of the soul.

The World Spiritual University, which has branches in 30 countries, teaches peace and perfection for health and happiness through the use of Raja yoga. The university gained status as a non-governmental member of the United Nations and has offices at the U.N. building in New York.

Raja yoga teaches students to search their soul world for answers on where they came from and why the cancer entered their body. They learn what role religion, stress, family and lifestyle played in the cancer.

There is an epidemic across
North America
today of Multiple Sclerosis and Lupus. Most people do not understand why this
epidemic is happening, and they do not know why these diseases are so rampant. I
would like to share with you the main reason we are having this very serious
problem. Many people today use artificial sweeteners in their tea or coffee.

They do this
because the ads they see on TV tell them that sugar is bad for their health.
This is absolutely true. Sugar is toxic to us , but what most people use as a
replacement for sugar is much more deadly. I am talking about ASPARTAME. It is
the cause of the epidemic that was mentioned above. ASPARTAME is an extremely
toxic chemical that is produced by a chemical company called Monsanto.

ASPARTAME is being
marketed around the world as a sugar substitute and is found in all diet soft
drinks, such as Diet Coke and Diet
Pepsi. It is also found in artificial sweeteners such as NutraSweet, Equal, and
Spoonful; and it is used in many other products as a sugar
replacement.

ASPARTAME is marketed as a diet product, but it is not a
diet product at all. In fact, it will cause you to GAIN weight because it makes
you crave carbohydrates. Causing you to gain weight is only a very small part of
what ASPARTAME does. It is a toxic chemical that changes the brain's chemistry
It can and does cause severe seizures.

This chemical changes the dopamine level
in the brain, and it is particularly deadly for anyone suffering from
Parkinson's disease.

ASPARTAME is extremely poisonous, and here
is why one of the toxic ingredients of it is wood alcohol. When the temperature
of ASPARTAME exceeds 86 degrees F, the wood alcohol in it
is converted to Formaldehyde, and then to formic acid, which in turn causes
folic acidosis.

FORMALDEHYDE is grouped in the same class
of poisons as Cyanide and Arsenic which are very deadly toxins. The only
difference is, Formaldehyde kills quietly, and it takes a little longer. And, in
the process of killing people, it causes all kinds of neurological problems.
There are 92 documented symptoms of Aspartame Poisoning leading to coma and
death.

The
majority of these symptoms are neurological, because the ASPARTAME attacks and
destroys the nervous system. One of these symptoms is Lupus, which has become
almost as rampant as Multiple Sclerosis, especially with Diet Coke and Diet
Pepsi drinkers.

Actually there are many adsense alternatives have been promoted to the internet market. Watch some of the sites closely and you will find they webmasters are slowly using adsense alternatives on their websites.

What good is a top-ten listing for "internet marketing" if 400 visitors come to your web site from the search engines and buy nothing?

Sure, you can build your list. But again, if you're thinking "I must optimize my site to get a higher listing" instead of putting your highest priority into squeezing the most possible money from each visitor that arrives to your site... you're wasting your effort.

Even in the case of a list-building name squeeze landing page, you need to put your focus on "optimizing" your page to get the most amount of visitors possible to sign up and get on your list!

Here are five excellent techniques you can deploy right now to begin maximizing your conversions for more and better visitors, leads and sales:

1. Make your visitors feel like they're dealing with a professional - And no, this doesn't mean your site has to look like the next Amazon.com... in fact, the more simple, clean and straightforward your site looks and feels, the better your visitor feels. Your site is most often the only impression your visitor gets of you... If your site looks ugly, badly formatted and unprofessional... guess how your visitor feels about you? Believe it. You will absolutely begin writing something and whether or not it makes sense at first - keep writing.

Understand this. Writing is a two-step process. Most people fail to grasp this concept and then give up because they "can't write."

The two parts of writing are:

A) The Creative Step
B) The Editorial Step

Don't overlook this point. It can transform you into a copywriting virtuoso almost overnight if you can get this concept.

Step one, the Creative Step is when you freewrite. Don't use the backspace key, no matter how bad your judgmental mind wants you to. Just keep writing. Nothing has to be spelled right... nothing has to be in order. Just write and know you're in the creative process.

Step two, is the Editorial Step. In this step, you go back over the content you've just written and you move paragraphs and sentences around to flow better... you use spell-check or a dictionary to get everything spelled correctly and in an acceptable format... this is why you never hit the backspace key while in Step One - because you save it for the second step! Do this and your writing skills will soar.

Another "trick" is to call your best friend on the phone and sell your offer to him or her. Record the call and have it transcribed.

You'll have the best parts of your copy already written!

For instance, you're selling a digital info-product for $67... think of something you'd like to buy with the money you're about to make from this promotion... say, it's a brand new HD enabled big-screen TV. The cost is $1,594. Instead of selling your info-product directly, you sell access to it from a password-protected members area. This could be as simple as a hidden web page on your site.

You do the math and figure you need 24 sales at $67 per sale to buy the TV outright... so, you limit "access" to the info-product and make it available for the first 25 members only. This creates high demand through scarcity. If you give a good reason for limiting access (i.e. because you're doing this promotion for that big-screen TV) it'll skyrocket your conversion because you're giving a reason "why."

This satisfies the customer and quiets the mind's critical nature... "why is he selling access to only 25 members?"... because you want a TV!

The greatest thing about limiting access is that you can "re-open" the doors for another promotion anytime you want something else. Your prospects who didn't buy before see you're serious, and you'll get even more sales the next time around...

1. Optimise every page on your website

The major search engines are not looking at individual websites and ranking them, they are ranking pages from every website in the world. This means that if your website contains more than one page you should optimise for the specific content that is found on each page.

Optimising each webpage is overlooked by so many websites within Ireland and can be the difference between competing for a highly competitive keyword phrase such as “Irish Hotels” and competing for a much less competitive keyword phrase such as “Hotels in County Galway”. After that they can check out the rest of your website that is all about “Irish Hotels”.

2. Pick appropriate keyword phrases

This is the single most important thing to do when it comes to optimising your website for search engines. The keywords that your potential customers type into Google, Yahoo, MSN, and Ask Jeeves are the keywords that your site should be using within the specific areas of your webpage (see below; Optimizing your Page Titles and Optimizing your Content).

There are a number of useful keyword research tools available on the web. The most recommended and user-friendly are Wordtracker and Keyword Discovery. Both offer trial versions.

3. Optimizing your Page Titles

All of the major search engines have 100’s of different algorithms that compute where your webpage should be listed for different keyword searches. Putting your keywords within the Title description (the blue bar you will see at the top of your screen) of your pages is one of the most important SEO techniques and will help your website climb through the rankings and allow your visitors to remember exactly what your page is all about when they save it to their “favourites”.

4. Optimizing your Page Content

It is sometimes very difficult to write content for your website. Not only do you need put the information that you want the visitor to see in front of them in an easy-to-read style, you also have to keep in mind the keywords or keyphrases that your page is targeting so that you can rank better within search engines.

One of the best pieces of advice that I have come across is to write for your visitors and include the keywords and keyphrases as much as makes sense. Read what you written out loud to yourself and a few others. If it sounds stupid… lather, rinse, and repeat.

5. Create an inbound linking strategy

Submitting your site to online directories is a very beneficial way to drive targeted traffic to your website. People will find your listing in a directory and click on the link to go directly to your site.

This not only brings visitors to your website, but it also creates links for search engine “spiders” or “robots” to find your website and index your pages within their results. If your site doesn’t have a link pointing to it on the World Wide Web the search engines will never find it and you will never see any traffic from Google or the other big ones.

6. Descriptively labeling your links and images (aka the anchor text)

This technique is both common sense and good practice. Telling your visitors what the link that they are going to click on allows them to know exactly what they are going to be directed to. Saying “click here” is not enough to help them understand what they’re going to find once they click through. Be as descriptive as possible with every text and graphical link on your site. The cool thing about writing your anchor text and alt attributes to be descriptive is that you can almost always describe the page you’re pointing to by using its main keyword phrase which is another one of those many factors search engines that into account when it comes to ranking your web pages.

7. Make sure your site is spider-friendly

Your website may look fantastic. You and your web designer may be talented graphic designers that can make Flash and Javascript dazzle your visitors with a show that would put RiverDance to shame. However, if your website contains Flash and Javascript it’s important to know that search engine spiders can’t read this code (or appreciate the effort you put into the design). The way around this is to provide navigation alternatives to allow the spiders crawl deep within your website and index the web pages within their results.

8. Create Fresh Content

When you are optimizing your website properly you will see a trend. If you are doing something that benefits your websites visitors then the search engines will reward you for it.

Search engines do tend to like websites that create fresh content regardless
of the format. If they know any given site is adding new articles on a frequent basis, they will come around often to index it.

Blogs and forums are effective and easy ways of adding new information to your site on a regular basis.

However, if your only purpose of setting up a blog or a forum is for better search engine rankings then there really is no point in doing it. Only add a forum if it contributes something beneficial to your website and if you have the traffic to make it interactive enough for visitors to return to it. And, only add a blog if you have something of interest to say on a regular basis.

9. Do not think that you can trick Search Engines

As noted before, “If you are doing something that benefits your websites visitors then the search engines will reward you for it”.

If you try to trick the search engines by hiding keyword phrases in your pages by making the text colour the same as the background colour, hiding keyword phrases in tiny font, joining link farms, or any other sneaky practice your sites will be removed from the search engines and it will take you a long time to get back in (and you will also have to spend more time cleaning up your website before they will accept you).

10. Offer something unique

If your website offers something that is unique and interesting to your target market and it is properly optimized (by applying all of the techniques that are listed above) you will not only rank well within the major search engines, you will also get the added benefit of people linking to your website in forums, blogs, and through other websites which will send your site more visitors and create more inbound links which will help it rank higher.

“Auto Copyrights” on Websites, Images, Blogs, Banners And Other Contents !

Copyright is “Automatic”

The Copyright Act of 1976 designates that newly created works are Copyrighted “automatically.” The Copyright is attributed to the work without having to register it in the Copyright Office, as was previously the case. A work is copyrighted as soon as it is “fixed in a tangible medium.” (Copyright 2003) Examples include taking a photograph or writing down a story on paper or recording a song on to a tape.

Copyright Infringement and the DMCA

“Infringement” is violating a Copyright-owner’s exclusive rights. The law does not require that the infringer be aware they are doing so. Harm does not need to be proven. (Litman 2001) As an artist deciding whether or not to include pieces from the works of others, you want to make sure you’re not infringing on any one else’s rights, so you don’t get sued.

What happens when you put something up on the Internet without permission and the Copyright holder finds out?

The Copyright holder can accuse you of violating something called the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and send your Internet Service Provider (where your files are hosted) a “takedown notice.” (DMCA 1998)
By law, according to the DMCA, your ISP has seven days to respond. Theoretically, a week is plenty of time to contact you, find out what’s going on and, if you are infringing, ask you to take it down. In reality however, a week is not very much time. What if the “takedown” letter is sent on a Friday and not read until Monday? Whether that’s one day or three days is unclear. The Copyright holder can demand that it be taken down pending investigation and, often, this is done before you have an opportunity to defend yourself.

According to the DMCA, a Copyright holder need only have a “good faith belief” that his rights are being infringed to issue and “cease and desist” letter (a “c and d” or “takedown notice”).

The reality is that ISPs rarely take the time to investigate or send a letter back saying that they have checked with the violator in question, who claims they own the material and is disputing their claim. The larger ISPs have lawyers and know their rights, but the smaller ISPs don’t always know their options and don’t want to pay a lawyer to find out what they are. So the easiest thing for them to do, often, is take the site down pending further investigation.

The Digital Millennium Copyright Act is not very straightforward and is difficult to understand. Its provisions are still being debated, but it’s the current law in effect. Even after you take the material down, you can still be charged anywhere from $5000 to $50,000 per violation. Defending yourself costs money, so having any sort of conflict becomes immediately expensive.

Summary.

If you use ANYTHING that you didn’t create, the person who created it can shut your domain down and sue you.

They can also sue your ISP. Most ISP’s have Terms that hold you responsible for any damages they incur as a result of your actions, and that includes legal fees to defend themselves in a lawsuit over a copyright violation that you committed.

So before you use that neat graphic… ask yourself… is it really wise to take something that doesn’t belong to you and then ADVERTISE it across the Internet?

Are you prepared to pay thousands of dollars to hire an attorney to TRY to defend you… AND pay for your ISP’s attorney who doesn’t even care if you win or lose?

My advice… DON’T USE “borrowed” graphics and DON’T HOST anything you aren’t sure of.

One more point… Bill makes a splash page using copyrighted images. Sally likes the splash page and asks Bill if she can use it. Bill gives his permission, and Sally begins to advertise that splash page.

When the owner of the images sees Sally’s splash page, who’s in trouble? Sally is! Sure, Bill used the images wthout permission, but Sally is the one using them for commercial purposes without proper permission from the owner of the copyright… so Sally gets sued!

Remember, the law does not require that the infringer be aware they are doing so. You can be sued for using a splash page created by someone else, even if that person gave you permission.

Be careful!

Three Little Words That Work !!

(1)The three little words are: “Hold On, Please…”

Saying this, while putting down your phone and walking off (instead of hanging-up immediately) would make each telemarketing call so much more time-consuming that boiler room sales would grind to a halt.

Then when you eventually hear the phone company’s “beep-beep-beep” tone, you know it’s time to go back and hang up your handset, which has efficiently completed its task.

These three little words will help eliminate telephone soliciting.

(2) Do you ever get those annoying phone calls with no one on the other end?

This is a telemarketing technique where a machine makes phone calls and records the time of day when a person answers the phone.

This technique is used to determine the best time of day for a “real” sales person to call back and get someone at home.

What you can do after answering, if you notice there is no one there, is to immediately start hitting your # button on the phone, 6 or 7 times, as quickly as possible This confuses the machine that dialed the call and it kicks your number out of their system. Gosh, what a shame not to have you name in their system any longer !!!

(3) Offline Junk Mail Help

When you get “ads” enclosed with your phone or utility bill, return these “ads” with your payment. Let the sending companies throw their own junk mail away. When you get those “pre-approved” letters in the mail for everything from credit cards to 2nd mortgages and similar type junk, do not throw away the return envelope. Most of these come with postage-paid return envelopes, right? It costs them more than the regular 37 cents postage “IF” and when they receive them back. It costs them nothing if you throw them away! The postage was around 50 cents before the last increase and it is according to the weight. In that case, why not get rid of some of your other junk mail and put it in these cool little, postage-paid return envelopes.

One of Andy Rooney’s (60 minutes) ideas.

Send an ad for your local chimney cleaner to American Express. Send a pizza coupon to Citibank. If you didn’t get anything else that day, then just send them their blank application back! If you want to remain anonymous, just make sure your name isn’t on anything you send them. You can even send the envelope back empty if you want to just to keep them guessing! It still costs them 37 cents.

The banks and credit card companies are currently getting a lot of their own junk back in the mail, but folks, we need to OVERWHELM them. Let’s let them know what it’s like to get lots of junk mail, and best of all they’re paying for it…Twice!

Let’s help keep our postal service busy since they are saying that e-mail is cutting into their business profits, and that’s why they need to increase postage costs again. You get the idea !

If enough people follow these tips, it will work —- I have been doing this for years, and I get very little junk mail anymore.

PLR membership mainly offers articles with good content, websites and some training tools which you can modify and use it as if you’re the author. These kind of memberships are very popular now and many have sworn that it has made them a lot of money.

Let talk about the websites. Search engines, crawl the websites and will show up on their search results depending on the keywords that are present in the content. PLR membership will allow you to modify the content in the websites and therefore make it unique.

There is no point in just uploading the website as it is. The search engines will penalize you for duplicate content because there are probably hundreds of people that have bought that same website and did the same thing. So what’s the point in having a website if it does not get shown on the search engines?

The rule is you must alter the website to make it unique.

I just downloaded the products to my hard drive and did nothing. After 2-3 months, I cancelled and moved on to the next membership.

This is the main problem now with PLR memberships. There are some good ones membership sites which meet some of the criterias set above. Of course my membership meets all of them.

In conclusion, PLR membership are an excellent opportunity to make some profits on the internet. If you stick to it for a long time, your profits will only grow. The main thing you have to remember is that PLR memberships only provide you with the tools. You have to use the tools and put effort into it. In another words, do something with the PLR membership you’ve joined.

How To Avoid Getting Your Adsense Account Terminated

Google, being the undisputable leader in search engines from then until now, is placing a high importance on the quality and relevancy of its search engines. Most especially now that the company is public property. In order to keep the shareholders and users of its engines happy, the quality of the returned results are given extreme importance.

For this same reason, doing the wrong things in the Adsense and other forms of advertisements, whether intentionally or unintentionally, will result in a severe penalty, may get you banned and even have your account terminated. Nothing like a good action taken to keep wrongdoers from doing the same things over again.

So for those who are thinking of getting a career in Adsense, do not just think of the strategies you will be using to generate more earnings. Consider some things first before you actually get involved.

Hidden texts. Filling your advertisement page with texts to small to read, has the same color as the background and using css for the sole purpose of loading them with rich keywords content and copy will earn you a penalty award that is given to those who are hiding links.

Page cloaking. There is a common practice of using browser or bot sniffers to serve the bots of a different page other than the page your visitors will see. Loading a page with a bot that a human user will never see is a definite no-no. This is tricking them to click on something that you want but they may not want to go to.

Multiple submissions. Submitting multiple copies of your domain and pages is another thing to stay away from. For example, trying to submit a URL of an Adsense as two separate URL’s is the same as inviting trouble and even termination. Likewise, this is a reason to avoid auto submitters for those who are receiving submissions. Better check first if your domain is submitted already an a certain search engine before you try to submit to it again. If you see it there, then move on. No point contemplating whether to try and submit there again.

Link farms. Be wary of who and what are you linking your Adsense to. The search engines know that you cannot control your links in. But you can certainly control what you link to. Link farming has always been a rotten apple in the eyes of search engines, especially Google. That is reason enough to try and avoid them. Having a link higher than 100 on a single page will classify you as a link farm so try and not to make them higher than that.

Page rank for sale. If you have been online for quite some time, you will notice that there are some sites selling their PR links or trading them with other sites. If you are doing this, expect a ban anytime in the future. It is okay to sell ads or gain the link. But doing it on direct advertisement of your page rank is a way to get on search engines bad side.

Doorways. This is similar to cloaking pages. The common practice of a page loaded with choice keyword ads aimed at redirecting visitors to another “user-friendly” page is a big issue among search engines. There are many seo firms offering this kind of services. Now that you know what they actually are, try to avoid them at all costs.

Multiple domains having the same content. In case you are not aware of it, search engines look at domains IP’s, registry dates and many others. Having multiple domains having the same exact content is not something you can hide from them. The same goes with content multiplied many times on separate pages, sub domains and forwarding multiple domains to the same content.

Many of the above techniques apply to most search engines and is not entirely for Google only. By having a mind set that you are building your Adsense together with your pages for the human users and not for bots, you can be assured of the great things for your ads and sites.

I have been actively promote my site with 2 main keywords. Recently, I managed to climb up to position #3 in Google with one of the keywords.

However, I'm not satisfied with that. I want my site to be in position #1.
