Los Dos Pedros (San Diego, CA) reviewed by oshinnluv (7/10)

This place is a hole in the wall. The entire taqueria is the size of a small bedroom, with barely enough room for the cook and cashier to operate behind the counter. The menu is standard with all of the basic burritos you find at the majority of spots in San Diego, but it's far from expansive. I had a pollo asado burrito and it didn't disappoint. The chicken was moist and delicious, seasoned perfectly and unencumbered by ancillary ingredients that could take away from it's taste. I could taste onions and cilantro along with plenty of moderate spice. The tortilla was decent, the presentation simple. No frills or extras required.

Pepitos (Eden Prairie, MN) reviewed by carnelover (5/10)

I was craving a REAL Carne Asada Burrito tonight. Unfortunately, I still live in Minnesota and none of the restaurants here seem to make them the way I like them. How do I like them you ask? Simple: 1 HUGE tortilla packed with grilled steak, cheese, chopped salsa and guac. Nothing else. This seems to be the predominant way places in the Southwest US make them (San Diego, Phoenix, etc.)

After striking out so many times here, I sort of resigned myself to eating at Chipotle. But I was in the SOUTH WEST metro of Minneapolis and thought I would try my luck at a place called "Aurelia's". This is located at the same address this site lists for "Pepitos" so I'm guessing the restaurant just changed their name?

Anyways, it was a let down. The staff was friendly enough, but my burrito was packed with beans, rich, lettuce, corn.... ughhh. Whatever, I should have known it. Again, if you're not looking for a specific style like I am, you probably will be fine with the place.

I wish I had gone to Chipotle for my burrito. At least there I KNOW I'm going to get a rice log, have more steak and pay less.

This past summer I visited my favorite place in San Diego -- it was such a beautiful day. I always try to get the owners to move to Minnesota and open a shop, but they say they don't think they would like the weather :P

El Burrito Express (Taraval) (San Francisco, CA) reviewed by doctor_mats_md (6/10)

This place is the only taqueia on Taraval so they have the market locked down. The food is decent, I like the taco salad and burritos. The tortas are kind of whatever. -2 for the service which is absolute garbage and -2 star for the price. After having a back and forth dialog with the manager via yelp, they finally kept a price for asada. There was a few month period where they "charged based the days market price" which meant they charged whatever they felt like for asada every day.

Taqueria Cancun (Mission/Valencia) (San Francisco, CA) reviewed by BiteMe (1/10)

This negative review is intended for two reasons. First because their isn't a way to contact the owner or a web contact for Cancun. And secondly to lower their score as it is too high for a few of their meats, namely the grilled chicken!

So to the owner get a website already and provide a "contact us" link so people like myself don't have to use a stupid review site in order to express my dislikes!

As to your grilled chicken... It's AWFUL! It tastes greasy, really really bad seasoning and immediate heartburn! Revisit that recipe!

I do however love the "boiled" chicken burritos. But often your staff give me a grilled chicken burrito by mistake! Please please make sure they know how to get the order right! It wouldn't be so bad if the grilled chicken was at all descent, but again it's not and then i must weigh out the risk of going to your establishments! It's not worth it, if your staff get the orders wrong way way way too often! All the other burrito spots rarely if ever get it wrong! Best of luck and I've been burned one too many times and will not be coming back!

Adalbertos (Rocklin, CA) reviewed by e39echo (9/10)

I love this place. I am originally from San Diego but live in the Sacramento area. I stop at Adalbertos every time I drive to Tahoe. I make sure to call in my order to minimize my delay. The California burritos are great, but they don't come with guacamole or sour cream. They will add those for a small fee (definitely worth it.) Also, they give free chips!

Adalbertos has become and will remain a part of my Tahoe vacation ritual.

El Super Burrito (San Francisco, CA) reviewed by andybex (8.5/10)

This place is so legit. I love it. Crispy carnitas are off the chain, so crunchy and juicy.

True, the guac sucks and they could mix the ingredients up a bit in the wrap.

They will also do a no wrap burrito on a plate.

Overall though jumbo carnitas tastes really good. Salsa bar red salsa is tasty.

Taqueria San Jose (San Rafael, CA) reviewed by cylindrical_log (8.5/10)

Any place under a freeway can't be bad.

I stumbled upon this place and was pleasantly surprised. I live down South now and I miss the steamed tortilla and foil wrap treatment, as the burrito always travels better this way. That said, I got a super veggie and got it back to my place after a 20-minute drive and it retained not only heat and flavor, but it had a lot of the best qualities of the finest Mission burritos. It was spicier than I was expecting, but not too much. I look forward to going back.

Taqueria Pancho Villa (16th St) (San Francisco, CA) reviewed by cylindrical_log (9.5/10)

I ran into Pancho Villa's waiting arms after disillusionment from a former favorite in SF and PV's was an awesome rebound. The Chile Relleno burrito with black beans was pretty next to perfect. The relleno was not at all eggy (you get this when you order a relleno and they forgot to prepare them earlier) Like most SF places, you get the double-foil wrap (not very green, you hippies) and the choice of black or pinto beans. There was a guy playing mexican songs on a guitar and I was glad to see to slightly-too-small stools with the leather straps were still there. My hard-to-please children were totally satisfied, which only furthered my joy for Pancho's. I would love to know what you guys giving this place a 5/10 are eating that's so great. Probably a bunch of tripe, natch.

Zona Rosa (San Francisco, CA) reviewed by cylindrical_log (6/10)

I lived in the city for three years (96-99) and Zona used to be my favorite and the favorite of my friends. The burritos (the vegetarian was my fave, a 10-out-of-10) were always consistent and the flavor of the rice and other ingredients was always good. At the time, I held Zona in the same esteem with the best of the Mission. Then I moved away and over the years I would return to SF and try to eat there. On several occasions over the last 10 years Zona would be closed during normal business hours during the week and I feared the worst. Fast forward to now, I find myself working in the Bay area for a few weeks and I was so pleased to see Zona open when I pulled up to it.

I ordered a Vegetarian on a spinach tortilla with pinto beans. I also ordered a chile relleno burrito for later, to try. The vegetarian was constructed the same as I remembered it, but it didn't taste the same. The rice wasn't as savory as before. More bland. Same for the salsa. The balance of ingredients was also off: too much rice, not enough of the other stuff. The chips, which I used to love stuffing inside for some extra crunch, were stale and hard. Later that night, I hoped the relleno would redeem it, but it was even worse, though I'll let it off for the fact that I had to reheat it. Oh, how the mighty have fallen. I thought perhaps my taste had changed, but the following weekend, I hit up Pancho Villa on 16th and it was EXACTLY as I remembered it; magic.

Sorry Zona Rosa, you've fallen from grace in my eyes.

A burrito can't get any better than what you get here.
No fancy stuff just the real deal.
Flavors are consistent at all times of the day (open 24 hrs) all the time.
The 3 really loud TV's in different Hispanic networks are the seasoning for the ambience.
Zona Rosa (San Francisco, CA) reviewed by PDsports (1/10)

I lived in the Upper Haight for about 5 years and the biggest reasons I ate at Zona Rosa were A) I didn't have a car and getting a ride to the Mission for a burrito wasn't likely on most evenings and B) ZR had crunchy taco shells and fountain sodas.

Sometimes my East Coast desire for crunchy tacos took over and I went to ZR for that. Plus, I always prefer sodas with ice in a cup over bottled.

The burritos at ZR? meh. nothing special but they weren't gross.

Usually, I'd get something at Balazo, which was right downstairs, or the other place beside the Trophy Room.

Now I live back in my native N.C. and even the worst SF tacqueria is better than Moe's or Chipotle or whatever copycat chain there is around here.

Burrito Express (Milpitas, CA) reviewed by mattband (1/10)

This place is so bad my fellow burrito enthusiasts and I found ourselves discussing what we'd rather be eating at Taco Bell. The meat was dry and bad, beans totally flavorless, the rice was well.....rice. The only thing that may have been a positive was the fact that it was $5.00. Still not even close to worth it, there is a little cesars next door, that would be money better spent.

Taqueria Guadalajara (San Francisco, CA) reviewed by TrucksRBetter (8/10)

This was a slightly above average burrito. Pretty good hot sauce, decent meat quality, no stray unsavory ingredients. Integration could have been better but that's pretty much the case everywhere. I'm thinking I need to start asking them to mix it around a bit before they fold it up like I do at Chipotle. I will definitely come back here, if not for the burrito, at least to have people step up to the plate for the real attraction...

The other reviewers weren't kidding about that mango habañero salsa! I had to take some into work with some chips to see if people could handle it. Everyone just did a little on the tip of a chip and felt the heat for 5-10 mins, except one guy who decided to scoop up gobs of it chip after chip. The heat doesn't set in right away, so it took a few seconds before he started suffering, but he was out of commission for a half hour! But the flavor is awesome too, before the heat sets in it tastes great in your mouth, you just have to make sure you portion it wisely.

El Castillito (Mission) (San Francisco, CA) reviewed by TrucksRBetter (7.5/10)

The carne asada was pretty reasonable quality, not spectacular, but probably the high point of this burrito. The hot sauce was decent, but it all sank to the bottom of the burrito and I didn't really get a taste of it until 2/3 of the way through. The guy at the counter had to shoo away a woman bum, and by the look in his face, this wasn't the first time he's had to displace her from the restaurant.

Kind of like the yuppies and other pretentious adults have their wine and cheese pairings, I have found that nothing goes better with a carne asada burrito than a cold Snapple Fruit Punch. You can't find them everywhere, but they have them here, and their refrigerator keeps them ice cold. Not kinda cold, I'm talking cooler full of ice cubes cold. I will go as far to say next time I eat at Pancho Villa or somewhere else nearby, I will go out of my way to grab a drink here to go with it.

Overall, I would come here again, but it isn't going to top Pancho Villa which is right across the street.

Laughing Planet Cafe (Bloomington, IN) reviewed by sabrepride (6/10)

I know a lot of people are crazy about this place. They have a very interesting (non-traditional) selection, and only offer chicken as a meat. This is not your run of the mill mexican oriented place. For instance I had a potato pesto burrito once and was not floored. I've also had a chicken with barbeque sauce that was pretty good, but not for the price. It's just sort of a hipster place to me, I just wasn't impressed.

Bottom line: for the money it's not that good. Sure, it's healthy seeming, but it's expensive and not fantastic, plus I just get this hipster vibe from all the employees like they would rather be out riding their fixed wheel bikes smoking american spirit cigarettes. Oh well.

Taqueria Eduardo (McKee Rd) (San Jose, CA) reviewed by mattband (8.5/10)

First off Eduardo’s knows how to make a burrito. I start by giving this burrito a 9, but the weak salsa and impossibly tough chips take it back down to an 8.5. I had a carne asada burrito, the meat was seasoned to perfection and cooked just as well. Just enough crunch on the outside, but not tough in the least. The beans were fantastic, but the rice a bit weak. In the end what kept this burrito from a ten was the sub-par rice and poor ingredient distribution. They grilled their tortillas which was a pleasant surprise along with grilled jalapenos and onions at the salsa bar.

The restaurant it’s self was very clean and the service was very nice. My burrito review buddy is on the same exact page as me about everything reviewed. However, my other review buddy admits that even though this has some of the best carne asada, the poor integration weak salsa and inedible chips make this burrito a 6.5. He’s full of crap, it’s an awesome burrito, try it yourself and I’m certain you’ll agree.
Taqueria Los Cunados (Milpitas, CA) reviewed by mattband (5.5/10)

Trying really hard but not pulling it off. First off the joint is very clean and friendly. The menu contain all the appropriate ingredients, they have a fairly large selection of solid authentic condiments, and everythings in place for a killer burrito making operation. And this is where the review makes it’s turn.

Every single last eliment of this burrito was only saticfactory at best. The salsa was a flat undynamic cold tomato slurry. Certainly not from a can or bottle, but very tastless. The meat (I had carne asada) actually did have some wonderful flavor when I bit into a pile of it that was not burnt. I like a little chard meat, this particular burrito has abnormally large pocket of it. It was easy to bite into large portions of individual ingreadients due to the poor intagration of them. The rice was ok (though my collieg had some serious issues with it) and the beans were dry and tastless. In the end I wish I paid $6 for this $8 burrito. However, it’s the only burrito joint anywhere near my work.
La Corneta Taqueria (Mission) (San Francisco, CA) reviewed by TrucksRBetter (7.5/10)

Not a bad burrito. Integration could have been better, my first 4-6 bites were pure rice, maybe a bean or two. They mix in peas and carrots in with their rice. I like that idea, a carnivore like me doesn't get enough vegetables in my diet, and those are unobtrusive to the flavor, unlike onions or cabbage. The hot sauce was slightly above average, meat quality was pretty good, overall a decent burrito. Not amazing, but certainly worth trying.

El Farolito (Mission/24th) (San Francisco, CA) reviewed by TrucksRBetter (9.5/10)

Now this was impressive. Long wait in line, the line wasn't that long but the damn thing didn't move. I asked for extra hot sauce, and they delivered. This was a Carl's Jr. style burrito, I had hot sauce all over my hands. And an excellent hot sauce at that. And this thing was huge, a never-ending burrito. Every time I took a bite it didn't seem to get any smaller. Great meat quality, cheese, can't wait to go back here.

Didn't see any hipsters in the restaurant, but I ate my burrito at Warm Water Cove Park, where there was a hipster mini-concert of some music that would put Bon Iver to sleep. Let's be realistic here though, this is a website where we review BURRITOS. Restaurant dirty? Who cares. Alien Nazi Hipster Priests hanging out there? Who cares. Coroner's office in view of dining room? WHO CARES! Provide me with information about your burrito, that's where the money is.

Amazing Burrito's, Amazing Service, Amazing Prices! California Burrito, Pollo Adobodo, Carne Asada, and California Chicken Burrito are a must. If you are in Mission Valley/USD/Mission Bay area, do yourself a solid and stop by, you will not regret your decision. I do not know how they get away with serving amazing food in monster portions at such a minimal price.

La Cumbre Taqueria (San Francisco, CA) reviewed by TrucksRBetter (6/10)

I've been reading the other reviews and am trying my best to supplement them. I will agree that there was 100% no gristle in my carne asada. Papalote's meat did have more flavor though--Pancho Villa's a little better as well. Integration was extremely poor. 50% of my bites were pure rice and tortilla. The hot sauce was a joke. I liked my post-burrito jalapeno more than the burrito. With Pancho Villa right next door, it's pretty safe to say I won't be here again for a burrito.

Molcasalsa (La Habra, CA) reviewed by justsomeguyfromla (1/10)

Liked this place for years until today when the workers referred to me as a nigger in Spanish. Will not spend any more money here and don't suggest you do. This is an embarrassment to the owners and a major loss of money from all my college friends and family who will no longer eat here.

Los Portalitos (Modesto, CA) reviewed by TrucksRBetter (9/10)

This place was almost a carbon copy of my favorite burrito truck in Chico. A citrusy-spicy hot sauce and just the right amount of cilantro made this a great experience. I can't seem to find a burrito in Modesto for OVER $5. A great problem to have. Good meat quality, and an excellent crisp tortilla.

I have been to three burrito trucks in Modesto and have been hassled by bums all three times--but I don't let them guilt me out of my money! Any change goes to the tip jar at the truck! This town is burrito truck heaven. Driving down a street called Crows Landing I counted 16 burrito trucks. There are 5 more in this train track area, and I saw a few more at random spots around the city. There must be at least 25 burrito trucks in this place, someone local needs to get on it and review those suckers for us travelers!

Taqueria Pancho Villa (16th St) (San Francisco, CA) reviewed by TrucksRBetter (9/10)

Great experience here. Finally, a burrito worth talking about from S.F. Not much of an ambiance person, but this place has it if that's what you are into. The salsa wasn't amazing, but the rest of the ingredients were way above average. Might be the best cheese I've ever had in a burrito. Good homemade chips, lots of options at the salsa bar for them as well. The carne asada was tender and they offered two different kinds of beans, and offered them whole or mashed (I salivate over mashed). If I lived in this town, I'd eat at this place minimum once a week. Give it a shot!

Taqueria Cancun (Mission/Valencia) (San Francisco, CA) reviewed by TrucksRBetter (8/10)

Interesting burrito. Came here after reading good reviews on this site, and wasn't disappointed. Each bite was a gamble though, some were great, some were average. So I guess that means there was a lack of homogeny. Very good hot sauce, although a bit of pico slipped in there, which I can't stand. Good meat quality on the carne asada as well.

The best part of this place though, was the price. $6.82 for a regular burrito with cheese and a can soda. And, after handing the cashier $7, I somehow ended up with change that included at least two quarters. The chips and salsa were very poor. Salsa was watery pico de gallo, but they also give you guac, which I am not an expert on so I will omit a review. My score is solely on the burrito, which gets the thumbs up for sure!

Los Portales Restaurant (Mountain View, CA) reviewed by dmourati (6.5/10)

This place is just okay. Dimly lit, weird atmosphere. Oddly cozy but not quite comfortable or clean.

Strip mall territory. Super sketchy one too. Next to a trailer park.

The food is good. I wouldn't dare compare it to Fiesta Del Mar Too which is superior in every respect.
