EU to ease packaging rules in new EU Directive

European legislation governing size restrictions on packaged goods is to be streamlined under a single directive, the EU Competiveness Council has announced. The legislation, to be put before the European Parliament for confirmation, would allow free sizes of pre-packaged products except for wines and spirits. It would replace 25 different national rules and two EU directives on nominal quantities with a single directive.

Changes on the way for Medical Device conformity The Medical Devices Directive (MDD) 93/42/EEC is well established. As is common with the EU, they decided that it couldn’t be left alone and instituted a review on its functioning. In summary, the conclusions were that the existing legal framework is appropriate, but that its implementation could be improved, including further regulatory clarification.
