South Bay Drugs has a little bit of Lost Abbey The Angel’s Share Brandy Barrel left as well as some Ballast Point Dorado Double IPA. I’m guessing there is less than a case or two remaining on the Angel’s Share. Note: anyone ordering it must put it in the cellar for a few months or so to let it properly condition/carbonate in the bottle.

The Wine and Cheese Place may have some Avery Brabant left. Again, this is hard to come by; only 694 cases were produced according to the site.

West Lakeview Liquors has it as coming soon on their New Arrivals section though I doubt that it will be available online (they are probably just giving notice to in-store customers). Worth an email…

The ten states where this beer will be available: MI, OH, IN, IL, WI, MA, NJ, PA, NC, and SC. Your best bet, if not in one of these states, to get the beer online is to email the stores in NJ, NC, IL, and OH that ship (listed to the right) to see if they can reserve you a 4-pack if/when they get the beer. Trading for a single bottle or two may be your only option though considering only 1,400 cases of this are being put out there this year.

New brews that are definitely up for grabs:

Going back to Archer Liquors…Three Floyds Brian Boru & Great Lakes Blackout Stout

2/16 Update: As of 8pm EST, Consecration and Lips of Faith Dark Kreik sold out! Hopefully you checked here this morning and ordered your allotment! Keep checking back, I plan on updating this more often. Easier said than done, of course.

Damn, can’t keep up on this end. So many beers online these days. Isn’t it great to know that you don’t have to deal with eBay anymore? (for the most part…unless you live Internationally).

Today, Joey at South Bay Drugs should be getting in about four more cases Russian River Consecration (he sold out of his previous allotment pretty damn quickly so there’s probably going to be a limit for online orders). Combine that with Lost Abbey Red Poppy (limit 2), New Belgium Dark Kreik (limit 1), and Lost Abbey Serpent’s Stout (I can personally vouch for that last one, what a solid beer), and you have one heluva box right there.

I don’t think you will find Red Poppy anywhere else. Good luck with Consecration, too.

THIS WILL BE A TREND IN 2009. Anyway, I was shocked to see that Brooklyn Black Ops listed as for sale online seeing as how each store seems to get only a case. No guarantees that you will actually be delivered the beer if it has sold out but I was able to go through the checkout process up to submitting the order.

Try your luck. They ship to all states where it is legal -> Brooklyn Black Ops for sale.

I punched in my ‘illegal’ zip code and a shipping price came up so even if you are in a ‘bad’ state, try it.

Please post a comment as to whether or not you are able to buy the beer if you try it!

Bruisin’ Ales looks like it will be the first online store to get Founders Porter. It is supposed to arrive in the store this week so shoot Julie an email at some point. Founders Imperial Stout will eventually show up online as well (but probably only if the brewery produced as much as it did of Breakfast Stout).

You can see more tips at the Buy Beer site. Just know that the Ballast Point Sculpin at South Bay is sold out!

This guest post is the first part in a series showcasing the work of other beer bloggers. Nate does a fantastic job of covering the Nebraska beer scene at his Nebraska Beer Blog.

Here, Nate writes about the newest brewery in the state, Lucky Bucket Brewing. Some may be familiar with the name as Founder/Head Brewer, Zac Triemert, worked with Flossmoor Station and Fifty Fifty Brewing on Collaborative Evil, a well-received Belgian Strong Dark released in Illinois this past fall. I have attached an update at the end with a little more info on the beers coming in 2009. See Nate’s article below.

I had recently gotten a request for an update on

Lucky Bucket Brewing Company

and when we could expect to try their beer. I shot off an email to [Head Brewer] Zac T. and asked him if he could provide some details to further wet your appetites. He did more than that; he gave me a call and we talked for a bit about what is currently going on with Lucky Bucket, Solas Distillery and Upstream. He was very gracious and loaded me up and now I am going to download it to you.

First things first, I want to clarify some confusion on my part and probably on some of yours. Lucky Bucket is in no way a branch, subsidiary or in any way related to Upstream Brewing Company. Zac, Jason Payne a few other business partners have started a completely different company called Quaff that is the parent of Lucky Bucket Brewing Company and Solas Distillery. Zac and Upstream will continue to have a symbiotic relationship; however, Upstream is in no way financially involved. That was a big revelation to me. This is all Zac, his dream, his risk and money, so let’s be sure to support him with the same effort.

So who is brewing for Upstream now if Zac is on his own, well, Zac has been training his replacement, Mike Hall, who came from Oskar Blues in Colorado and comes with great potential and proven success. He was the creator of Ten Fidy, the latest canned beer from Oskar Blues, a Russian Imperial Stout. So he should fit in just fine.

Zac is almost on his own now and has been brewing test batches of beer for his first release. He is going to release a Pre-Prohibition Lager right out of the gate. He said he wanted to make an American Lager like it was when it had flavor. I applaud that effort and a good solid American Lager is a great thing and a great gateway beer for the non-geeks. It should be available at Whole Foods and Beertopia mid to late December.

His brewing operations are going to be at the Schilling Bridge Brewery and Winery [ed: Pawnee City, south of Omaha]. So the question is, is this a contract brewing deal? No it is not. Zac will be the brewer and will manage his beer all the way through the process. Schilling had excess capacity and Zac has worked out an arrangement to take advantage of that until he can build his own place.

After the Lager is released we will have to wait until Spring 2009 for the release of an IPA that Zac told me will blow our minds. I personally can’t wait for that! Then a few other beers will follow that are aging as we speak. His collaboration brew, Concentrated Evil, will have been aged over a year on oak and should be released in the Fall of 2009. He also wanted to remind everyone that an Ebenezer, that has been Oak aged in Cabernet barrels, will be released this month, so be on the lookout for that.

So it looks like we have a lot to look forward to. Websites for the companies will be up in the near future and I will let you know when. Solas Distillery should start up in March he hopes, delays on the construction of his still have set him back, and they should release Vodka in June 2009 and Rum in the Fall/Winter of 2009. Needless to say Zac unloaded on me and his enthusiasm was high and he can’t wait to get it going. Let’s go out and support a new Brewery like we have with our current ones.

——————————————————————

Update from Triemert:

Lucky Bucket Pre-Prohibition Lager

…will be released in draught-only on Jan 20 at the Crescent Moon in Omaha and will expand from there. We will be releasing 6-packs approximately 90 days after our first release. 4.5% ABV

Lucky Bucket IPA

(to be named)

…will come out in the spring or early summer. We don’t plan to rush the release as we plan to spend a ridiculous amount of time perfecting the recipe with a perfect hop/malt balance with terrific floral characteristics. It’s going to be pretty big too. This will be year round as well.

The Concentrated Evil is from the Collaboration, but our bottled oak-aged version will be release in Omaha-only for now.

———————————————————————

Looks like the online retailers had taken some time off, probably to deal with heavy holiday sales but it looks like they are back at it in terms of posting about new beers coming in…

SouthBayDrugs has a winner. Voted one of the year’s best by the Beer Advocate users, Joey got in ten cases of Ballast Point Sculpin IPA as the weekend kicked off. He imposed a 4-bottle limit so hopefully there are a few more kicking around on this Sunday evening.

Another one to watch out for is De Molen Hel & Verdoemenis (Hell and Damnation). West Lakeview Liquors has posted this as “coming soon.” This is one of the top 100 beers in the world and it is anybody’s guess as to whether anymore of it will come into the States after this shipment. Also coming to WLL will be those Amager beers I discussed not too long ago. Hr. Frederiksen is the top-rated beer of this bunch, just outside of the top 100.

One is a little-known brewery out of Meadville called

VooDoo Brewery

, a very young brewery headed up by Matt Allyn. The brewery is responsible for a couple of the most highly-rated beers of 2008 though the one for sale at Canals is a different one. According to Beer Advocate,

VooDoo Pilzilla

has a 4.24 average and is labeled as a Zwickelbier.

Per the website: “Pilzilla is a beer that I’ve been brewing for years. Each year it gets bigger and bigger. Nicknamed “The beer that took over Tokyo”. It is an unfiltered Keller Bier. Nicely hopped at this point with 9 different kinds of hops at 10 additions and about 6.75 % alc. Each year we will add another variety of hop and bump the alc a bit.

The other brewery I am featuring is Sly Fox and I have mentioned Canals as the prime spot to find their beers before. Right now, listed on the site is Ichor, a Quadrupel, Route 113 IPA, and the much-less seen Sly Fox Odyssey Imperial IPA.

You will see plenty of other interesting stuff on there as well like Dogfish Head Worldwide Stout and a ton of Mid-Atlantic breweries (but no Troegs?).

[12/14 Update: They just put up Pannepot Grand Reserva, Struise Tsjeeses Reserva, and Alvinne Lexke online!]

Quite interesting! Struise is the one of the first European breweries to sell its beer online and make it available to the U.S. market. While it would be pointless if you are in the States to order a single bottle or two from them, you may actually end up saving money on a case than buying it from a local shipping retailer. That said, I am guessing that most local retailers that ship will cut you a deal if they can and price match what Struise would be offering.

So far they have made available:

Only thing is that you have to specifically search for these breweries (don’t put in the beer name in your search), they do not show up when browsing the site.

First, you will find some of Allagash’s specialty offerings: Odyssey, Four, and Curieux (all 2008 ‘vintages’)

What else? Captain Lawrence Xtra Gold (if you want St. Vincents Dubbel you will have to search for it at Liquor Outlet Wine Cellars- higher prices but it’s there), Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, and Shipyard Imperial Porter.

And then there’s Dogfish Head Chicory Stout, Palo Santo Marron, and Indian Brown.

Should New England Brewing ever do its Storm Trooper Imperial Stout again, you might have a shot here as well but that is down the road.

I don’t normally post up links pertaining to offline purchases here but Bottleworks in Seattle posted on its new blog today that it had put Russian River Deviation IX on the shelves earlier. The beer was released back in April but they apparently held back a little stock. Go get it if it is there but call ahead first. No shipping on this one as far as I know.

Schlafly Reserve Barleywine 2007
Schlafly Reserve Imperial Stout 2007
Southern Tier Krampus Imperial Helles
Southampton Saison Deluxe 750Ml
Samichlaus
Sly Fox Black Raspberry
Sly Fox Christmas 2008
Cantillon Bruocsella 1900 Grand Cru
