1. Take Chlorella (an algae, it takes out metal toxins like from tuna)
2. Drink tea
3. Drink filtered water (reverse osmosis works to get out fluroride) and lots of it daily.
4. Eat organic foods and reduce exposures to pestacides, and so on.
5. Skip the sugar and not so good carbs.
6. Fiber up. Lots of fruits, veggies, grains or extra fiber.
7. Breath deeply…do things like yoga or deep breathing.
8. Workout until you work up a sweat daily.
9. Sweat it out in saunas (but I don't like them,they're too hot for me). This is iffy.
10. jump on a trampoline or do jumping jacks or jump rope or something that gets the sluggish lymph nodes moving.
11. Lemons lemons lemons put them in your water or juice with them, put them in your tea or iced tea they detox
12. Detoxes liver and organs: artichoke hearts and asparagus keeps the body's PH in balance eat 2x or more per week!
13. herbal supplements: MILK THISTLE (CAN BE FOUND IN DETOX TEA as well), Dandelion all detox liver and organs of heavy metals and assorted things.
14. No weird sweeteners, try STevia for awhile. Avoid soy (it's a processed food), and try either raw, organic milk or switch to organic rice milk for awhile.
15. Zinc and Magnesium. I would get a calcium/zinc/magnesium supplement. Get up to 50mgs of zinc per day, 750 of magnesium and over 1000 calcium per day.
16. I've heard of clay (you can put it on the body) or I'm not sure if you can take it somehow…they also have charcoal people can take (but ewww) they give this to people who've overdosed on prescription meds. You can google it.
17. Deep massages, you can professionally get it done to get the lymph nodes drained and moving!
18. Enemas (but I'm not into that)..but people do it.
19. Sit in a tub full of epsom (magnesium) salts. Or my suggestion what I like to do: go find a resort spa with hot springs tubs : they are very detoxing/healing.

I can think of more later…

You have made a decision to purchase a Far Infrared Sauna for your personal home use.

Your research has indicated that there are many significant health benefits associated with Far Infrared Heat therapy.

They include:

Radiant Skin

- Improved Immune System

- Enhanced Circulation and Increased Energy

- Maintain Cardiovascular Health

- Promote Weight Loss

- Pain Relief

- Detoxification

- Stress Release & Relaxation

This article will focus on how Far Infrared heat therapy promotes healthy, radiant skin.

Skin Facts

- Largest organ of the human body

- Provides protection to our body

- Keeps our bodies at the right temperature

- Consists of three layers: Epidermis (outer layer), Dermis, Subcutaneous

Fat

- We lose about 30,000 to 40,000 dead skin cells off the surface of our skin every minute of every day

- Assuming a healthy lifestyle, feeling and looking one’s best before 40 has a lot to do with genetics

- After 40, it’ what you do to maintain healthy skin

Let’s review exactly what FIR heat is.

Far-infrared (FIR) heat is a form of naturally occurring energy from the sun. Infrared radiation accounts for over half the energy emitted from the sun. It heats matter directly and not the air in between.

All life requires FIR heat. It IS NOT ultraviolet radiation. The Far Infrared heat is a band of energy that we feel as heat and it is measured in microns. (The remaining energy from the sun we see as light.) Far Infrared heat has a micron measurement of 5.6-15. It is completely SAFE and promotes health and healing.

How does it actually work?

Far Infrared Heat has the ability to penetrate the human body. The human body absorbs the FIR heat energy from 1.5″-3″. As FIR heat penetrates the skin to the subcutaneous tissues, it transforms from light energy into heat energy causing blood vessels and capillaries to dilate. This gives better circulation and the heat produced releases toxins and waste through sweating.

It is the Far Infrared Heat that provides the penetrating healing benefits. A traditional sauna heats the air. It does not provide deep healing. It causes sweat, but often the air is so hot and stifling that some people cannot stay in the sauna to derive benefit. A FIR infrared heat sauna is a comfortable and safe heat that penetrates and heals.

How does it help the skin?

You already know that FIR heat causes increased blood circulation. Increased blood circulation carries significant amounts of nutrients to the skin. Increased blood circulation has been known to relieve acne, eczema, psoriasis, burns, lesions and cuts.

You also know that toxins and waste are released through sweating. The skin through this process also eliminates impurities and dead skin cells. Once the impurities and dead skin cells are eliminated, and great amounts of nutrients are carried to the skin, the result is skin that has healthy tone and texture. The skin is soft, clean and clear. Make-up goes on smooth and the skin emits a radiant healthy glow.

As part of a healthy lifestyle a Far Infrared Sauna will enhance the clarity and beauty of your skin.

How can a far infrared sauna be bad?

I have read a lot of info on far infrared. Can an FIR remove the same toxins in the body that a full body cleanse would? Also, I read that it will remove “heavy metals” from your body, does it also remove “health & necessary” metals? What if you are taking medication and/or vitamins, does the FIR flush thoes out also? What is a safe wood (or other material) to use in constructing an infrared sauna? I've read of “out-gassing” the toxins from the wood it's made of? People have said they prefer “steam saunas”, what about the chlorine & fluoride used to “treat” the city water supply that now become micro droplets that you now inhale into your lungs? Do doctors not want us to realize the benefits because it will reduce their income or are there “proven” test results that FIR is harmful. I want to reduce the toxins in my body & some of the whole body cleanses are expensive over time. Do you think there are more benefits to FIR than in a whole body cleanse? A lot of questions, I realize that, but someone has to tell the truth about our health-care in this country! We cannot afford NOT to be told the truth!! No sales pitches please, be objective. I will give a “thumbs down” to stupid answers like: “what?” or “sit under a light bulb” or “beats me” or anything else that is not an intelligent answer with some proof behind it. This is a good forum..let's make it great!

Are you looking to buy an infrared sauna? Well there are many significant differences in infrared saunas today. There are some made in the USA, some in Canada, and most are made in Asia. There are several types of heaters and many different kinds of woods.

The first consideration you might have is how much is this going to cost me and how can you get the best deal for your money? Well, just like anything else, you pretty much get what you pay for. Since saunas range in price from around $1,000 to $5,000. Probably a $1,000 sauna is going to have cheap heaters, cheap controls, and made out of a very inexpensive wood. Since a sauna can be a once in a lifetime purchase, it behooves you to do a little homework and not just buy the cheapest sauna out there. Otherwise you probably end up buying another one in a few years and then you really wouldn’t have saved any money anyway.

The first consideration you want to make is, are you buying from a reputable company? Are they a dealer or distributor or are they a factory? If they are a dealer, are they selling different brands of saunas or do they specialize in just one? Is the dealer going to be in contact with the factory for years to come if you have a customer service issue? Are you going to be in direct contact with the factory? Is the factory local or somewhere overseas? If they need to ship you a new part what is the shipping costs? These are all questions you need to ask yourself before even looking at different styles of saunas. What good is an inexpensive sauna if it doesn’t work and there is no way to get it fixed? It will just end up being a storage closet or worse, taking up space in your garage.

The next consideration is what kind of heater is the right heater. They all claim that they are the best, but how do you really know? The different choices are: ceramic, incoloy rods, incoloy rods with aluminum and ceramic coating, and the new one, carbon heaters. To really understand the differences in heaters, you need to understand the history of the technology and how it has advanced over the years. For several decades since the early ’70’s, infrared heat lamps have been used by doctors and physical therapists to treat muscle injuries.

You might have seen one or maybe you even own a handheld device with massage and a little red lamp that is an infrared heater. These devices were used because they are a direct heat. After a few minutes the skin overheats and that device has to be removed. The heat is a near wave or short wave of infrared and that is why it overheats the skin. Shortly after this device was developed, researchers in Japan found that if you used the long wave or far wave of infrared, this would actually penetrate the body and give a deeper therapeutic heat.

Also they found if they used it in a sauna, it would be a much better heat to use for detoxing because of the penetration qualities. This technology came in the form of a single incoloy metal rod heater that was tuned to the far infrared wavelength. Then came the first production of infrared saunas. These heaters were placed in various types of cabinets and sold throughout Japan. The first American made infrared saunas used the same technology. The actual saunas were made here in the USA but the heaters themselves still came fro Japan and Korea since there is no US manufacturer of the far-wave infrared heater made strictly for sauna use. Since this technology was the original and it worked well, the only way to make it even better was to make it larger. These metal rod or incoloy heaters have been enhanced and made larger by configuring them in different shapes like the M-Shaped heater which has a larger surface area. These heaters tend to be about 22-33 inches in length and from one to 4 or 5 inches in width.

Since then, one manufacturer has found a way to spread the heat in a more uniform manner by adding more surface area and a higher emissitivity by coating the incoloy rod with an aluminum coating and a thin layer of ceramic over the aluminum. These heaters are quite large in that they are 33 x 5 inches and really can pump out the far wave of infrared. There have been two other types of heaters installed in infrared saunas; one is a small ceramic heater that is shaped in a convex or concave shape. These heaters were introduced in the infrared sauna market in the early ’90’s. They were not the original technology that was developed in Japan but simply regular infrared heaters that are designed to use in factories for heating up various objects used in manufacturing. They come in a standard size, and factories have to configure the actual heater cases or holders to their specifications. They are used for shrink wrap machines, paint drying, plastic melting, and many other heating requirements used in factories.

Many Infrared sauna manufacturers started to spring up about this time, in Asia and America and even Canada, and since they couldn’t get a hold of the original Japanese technology, this was the next best thing. Many companies try to pass these heaters as being the “best” and “purest” but it is simply not the “real thing”. If these heaters were the “real” sauna heaters, why are they not “sized” for people? The ceramic heaters have one standard size and that is standard in the manufacturing industry not the sauna industry. Then there are carbon heaters. This is the newest technology used in the infrared sauna industry today.

These came out around the year 2000. This technology is not really new but rather an old technology that has been used for many years to heat up waterbeds. Waterbeds are “out” now and the heater manufacturers needed to find a way to sell their product. “Alas! the new infrared sauna heater. Although carbon heaters are not very pleasing to the eye, infrared sauna manufacturers that are using this technology, are claiming this is the way to go because these heaters are the biggest available. The problem is though; real far infrared heat comes from a low temperature heater. But the heater has to be powerful enough to emit a lot of this low temperature heat. If the heater can’t do this, than you simply can’t get enough heat to make you sweat. Since these heaters were not designed for people or saunas either, they are really not powerful enough to make one get a deep sweat. They are powerful enough to heat up a waterbed to a low temperature. They are also made out of thin layers of fabric, which are not very expensive to make, therefore saving the sauna manufacturer money. Again, you get what you pay for.

Now there is the question of wood. Do you have a preference or are you not really sure? The prettiest and most expensive sauna wood is the Western Red Canadian Cedar. There are a few manufacturers using this wood. It is quite expensive, and some manufacturers will only use this wood on the outside of the sauna and not the inside to save money. Some will use it on the inside and not the outside. Cedar is a really beautiful wood and comes with a nice aromatic quality so it is really great to have it on the outside and the inside. Western Red Canadian cedar has very few knots and a variety of light and dark combinations. One thing to look out for in the construction of your sauna is, does the grain match or is a hodge podge design. Is it veneer or solid? Is it tongue and groove construction? Does the wood have knots or is it clear? Another popular wood is poplar because it is hypoallergenic. Some chemically sensitive people or people with allergies tend to need this type of wood. Poplar is the best wood in this case. Poplar can be a variety of shades, and sometimes even a greenish color. When purchasing a poplar sauna, make sure you are getting one made out of the heartwood only. The best poplar is in the heartwood which gives it a nice light colored tint of beige. Another wood used in saunas is redwood, which isn’t known for its beauty, but for its durability outdoors. Cheaper woods are hemlock, spruce, basswood, and pine. These woods are do not have any significant qualities – sauna manufacturers use them to keep costs down.

The last consideration when purchasing a sauna is, how long is the warranty? What does it cover? Usually all infrared sauna manufactures will cover the infrared heaters for at least five years, but some will offer a lifetime warranty. Infrared heaters generally have a long life span, so this isn’t really hard for the factory to offer. What you really need is a warranty for is the wiring. Just like anything else, when the wiring goes out, it really is pretty much a useless product. Some companies offer a lifetime warranty on the wiring. Make sure you are dealing with a reputable local company – or your warranty could be useless.

According to the National Health Interview Survey, 75% of the general population experiences at least “some stress” every two weeks and half of those experience high levels of stress during the same two week period. With all of the effects stress has on a person, psychologically and physiologically, it is important to understand the implications it has and it’s critical for you to become capable of dealing with it effectively.

Effects of Stress on Physical Health

The American Medical Association stated that 80% of all human illnesses are the result of stress. Bearing this fact in mind, dealing with stress effectively can be a life saving skill that could drastically improve your overall quality of life. When a person is under a lot of stress, the brain releases chemicals giving the body an instant boost to combat and survive the stressful circumstance. Unfortunately many people in today’s society constantly put their bodies under this stress causing them to suffer from heart disease, high blood pressure, chest pains or strokes. The release of these chemicals also prevents the body from sleeping properly, resulting in slower thinking and other side effects such as depression, which in turn can lead to other problems such as alcohol abuse. When the body is under stress it is more susceptible to illnesses and diseases such as pneumonia and cancer as the immune system is weakened. When an individual dies from an illness such as a heart attack, doctors point the cause of death on the heart attack, but in all reality the heart attack was caused by other reasons such as an unhealthy life style and / or stress.

Effects of Stress on the Economy

According to the HSE (Health & Safety Executive), 6 million working days are lost each year in the UK through stress related problems. This costs the employer between £530-£545 per annum, as stated by the Confederation of British Industry (CBI). Visit the HSE for more information: http://www.hse.gov.uk/stress/standards/.

Learning to Relax

One of the best ways to combat stress is to relax and unwind. Everybody has their own way of relaxing, therefore it is important that you find a method of relaxing that suits you. Some of the more popular ways to relax and unwind are:

* Running, jogging or taking a long walk

* Listening to restful music

* Receive or give a massage

* Participate in an active sport

* Visit the park

* Practice yoga

* Eat organic natural food

* Ride a bicycle for pleasure

* Read

* Sunbathe or have a nap

* Play a musical instrument

* Use a hot tub, steam room or sauna / infrared sauna

Use a steam shower or sauna

Steam showers and saunas are well known for their relaxing properties and provide the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Saunas and steam showers can be found in health clubs nationwide, however, steam showers and saunas are becoming more popular in homes as they become more mainstream and affordable. A daily steam shower or a sauna session can really melt away stress and lighten the toxic burden on your body, revitalising and enlivening it.

Mohamed Abou Donia, Ph.D from the Duke University Medical Centre conducted a study which showed how stress can turn normally harmless chemicals in the body, dangerous. Dr. Mohamed Abou Donia says that even short term exposure to specific chemicals, just 28 days, when combined with stress caused widespread cellular damage in the brain and liver of rats (http://medschool.duke.edu/). Considering the adverse effects on the body both stress and chemicals can have, it’s critical to detoxify and reduce the stressful burden. Chemicals are rampant in today’s society: they are found in the foods we eat, the liquids we drink and the air we breathe.

Whenever you feel stress, a home steam shower or sauna is never far away to provide an instant escape. Steam showers heat up within minutes and use very little energy to operate, making them the choice for those seeking stress relief and physical well being. Just sit down and feel the warmth of the steam loosen all the muscles in your body, revitalising, making you feel brand new and fresh. The soothing warmth causes the body to sweat out harmful toxins and flush out the pores, giving your skin a clean glow.

The interesting answer to that question is that it depends. The traditional sauna is electric, wood or gas-fired. Some say that the presence of steam within a traditional sauna is important to improving sinus and respiratory function. Others think that throwing water on the heater is wrong. They say that the sauna is meant to be a dry heat.

In the real traditional sense the sauna is shared by the community and in most cases is located near an ocean or lake. The traditional sauna is actually Finnish. The traditional sauna is a wooden enclosure and those using it would throw water on the stones, so even today as attitudes change towards what the correct sauna practice is, that does not mean that it has been that way from the beginning.

The traditional sauna preheats anywhere from 140 to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. This high heat is required for heavy sweating. Both the infrared sauna and the traditional sauna make you sweat. The heat in an infrared sauna is less than that of its traditional counterpart.

I prefer the infrared sauna because the room is not as hot, yet I sweat just as much. The air in the infrared sauna heats to between 110-120F. The intense heat in traditional sauna can be too much for me. So yes I am a wimp when it comes to high heat. As long as I am sweating I feel I am getting the necessary detoxification and cleanse that I seek from using a sauna.

To me which one is better is dependent on which one you are most comfortable in. Both have similar health benefits, such as increased blood circulation and so on. Like anything else there are arguments on both sides. If you want to put a sauna in your home, infrared is the way to go because it is far less expensive in both installation and running costs. Either way saunas are a great tool for health and relaxation.

If the cellar is dry and well built, it can often be made into an attractive place by putting in a ceiling, painting the walls and floor, and partitioning off the coal bin and furnace. It may then be used as a summer dining room, game room, or for other purposes if extra space is needed.

Of course if this isn’t to your liking, there are tons of other things you can do instead. Depending on the size of the cellar you could bring in your own sauna equipment or install a portable infrared sauna. With a home sauna and perhaps some other additions, you could have your very own gym.

The cellar is the perfect place for something like this because it is out of the way and very private. You won’t need to worry about people being able to see you through the windows, and you can have the workout room you’ve always dreamed of without needing to sacrifice any of the rooms already in use inside the house.

Some cellars are quite large, and if you are fortunate enough to have a sizeable one, you could turn it into something like a studio apartment. If you built in a couple of extra walls, and if it was equipped for plumbing, you could install the necessary bathroom fixtures and kitchen fixtures to make a nice little guest apartment.

Even if you are unable to add in the plumbing and fixtures, you could still make an exceptional bedroom out of it, and have a perfect private guest bedroom. If you aren’t the type to have many guests over, then this might not be right for you. Another good idea is to make it into a study. You could do all of your work in comfortable silence, without all of the distractions of a noisy household.

If this doesn’t suit you either, then why not make the cellar into your own personal relaxation room? You could install spa accessories such as a hot tub. There is a lot less to maintenance for an indoor hot tub than for a regular outdoor one, so this is actually double the awesome. You could have the hot tub, big bean bag chairs, a bookcase full of your favorite books, and whatever else makes you feel most comfortable.

A media center is always great to have, but many people just don’t have the room to install something like that. If you made your cellar into your media center, you wouldn’t have any such problem! You could have a big screen television with surround sound and a huge stereo and your computer and your giant shelf full of every single DVD ever, all in one place.

One last idea is to turn your cellar into a library. You could have wall sized bookshelves filled with all kinds of different books—you could sit and read all day long with no worries of being disturbed.

In the fast-paced world we live in, our bodies get tired facing the ordeals of daily grind. Work-related problems and dealing with tricky situations on the home front leaves us both mentally and physically exhausted. Nothing soothes the body like warm steam and nothing reduces aches pains and soothes joints like spending an hour in the soft heat of a sauna bath.

Saunas have been popular with people for a very long time. Ancient Greeks reveled in them and so did the Turks, who called it by the famous name Hamam. The Romans spent many leisurely hours there, often discussing important state affairs in the comfortable surroundings. Thanks to new technology and innovations, sauna baths can easily be installed in any convenient place at a very affordable price. Apart from homes, you can find sauna baths in local spas and health and fitness centers near you.

A steam sauna bath is technically bigger and wider than a steam room. Having a sauna is considered a social affair, hence it is constructed wide enough to accommodate more people, whether it is enjoyed at home or used at a public place. However, the bath should not be huge and ideally have some place left in the middle. Derived from a Finnish word “savu,” which means smoke, sauna baths primarily involve the generation of mist by steam generators. The traditional steam sauna bath is made up of good quality wood, preferably cedar or some other similar non-staining, heat-resistant variety.

The sauna rocks in the sauna and steam baths provide a cloud of steam when water is thrown on them. The steam generated by this process is absorbed by the wood in the bath, providing a dry atmosphere for the body. Your body will perspire after spending some time in this environment and your pores will definitely open, restoring your skin to its natural glow.
