<title>Talknowledgy Podcast #108: Black Friday, American Thanksgiving, the business cost of slow performing websites, and more</title>
<description>Phil and Dave talk turkey on this week&#39;s show with coverage of Black Friday and the role Facebook played in this year&#39;s Presidential turkey pardon. We also take a look at Foursquare&#39;s dismal 2012 revenue predictions and the latest in the Apple vs Samsung saga.

We have two Hashtag Fails of the week this week. First, we chat about Lindsey Stone&#39;s tasteless Facebook photo that got her in hot water with her boss. We also look at slow performing websites and how much it costs businesses annually when their sites take longer than three seconds to load.

And finally, our YouTube (anti)Hero this week is Nicole Westbrook. Her video &quot;It&#39;s Thanksgiving&quot; has become the third most disliked YouTube video of all time, and it was only released on November 7, 2012.

If you liked the show, feel free to subscribe to this blog or our RSS feed to make sure you&#39;re always up-to-date with Talknowledgy. We&#39;ll be back in a little while!</description>

<title>Talknowledgy Podcast #107: BB10, Ron Swanson&#39;s Movember video, talking trash with athletes on Twitter, and more</title>
<description>Right off the top of the show we discuss BlackBerry 10, Pinterest brand pages, and Facebook&#39;s rumoured job board.

This week&#39;s &quot;Creepy or Awesome?!&quot; is centred on the recent Twitter outrage when big man Pau Gasol from the NBA Lakers missed the last shot of the game handing the historic club yet another early season loss.

Our YouTube Hero this week is Ron Swanson&#39;s pro-Movember video encouraging men to keep growing their &quot;mos&quot; and raise money for men&#39;s health. It also has some guest appearances from cast members from &quot; The Office&quot;.

Finally, a military sex scandal gets our #Hashtag Fail of the Week. That&#39;s right, the sloppy use of email clients may have lead to the infidelity bust in the David Petraeus scandal.

<title>Talknowledgy Podcast #106: Donald Trump, Microsoft, Instagram, and Shoppers Drug Mart All Earn a #Fail</title>
<description>A lot of #fail being handed out this week! Before we get to that, we start with the social media reaction to President Obama&#39;s win in Seg 1, and also touch on Hurricane Sandy and Halo 4.

In our second segment, NBC allows you to buy stuff you see in television shows using a smartphone app - Creepy or awesome? We also take a look at the decidedly not awesome comments made by the CEO of Instagram this week.

In our third segment, Obama is so happy about his win he&#39;s singing about it. It&#39;s our &quot;YouTube Hero of the Week!&quot;

And finally, in segment four we dish out the pain with fails going to Donald Trump, Microsoft, and Shopper&#39;s Drug Mart. Tune in and find out why!

<title>Talknowledgy Podcast #105: Hurricane Sandy, Movember, Uncle Drew, Star Wars goes Disney, social gaming, and more</title>
<description>Plenty to chat about in the world of news this week. We kick off the show by discussing the social media and tech implications of Hurricane Sandy, the most popular Halloween candy on social media, and the launch of Movember.

In our &quot;Creepy of Awesome?!&quot; section we look a a new Facebook rumor - Users may be able to place classified ads to display to their friends on the social media giant. The main difference between this new feature, and the existing marketplace function, is you now have to pay to have your ad seen.

Our &quot;YouTube Hero&quot; this week is Cleveland Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving. He reprises his role as Uncle Drew in a Pepsi Max commercial posted to YouTube this past Tuesday. The first video he did, posted May 2012, received 16 million views. Adding to the interest, Irving himself, wrote and directed both commercials.

And we couldn&#39;t go a full show without touching on the US Presidential Election, and this week Mitt Romney gets a ringing endorsement from Springfield&#39;s oldest millionaire, C. Montgomery Burns! Head on over to Talknowledgy.ca to check out all our YouTube heroes this week!

Our &quot;Hashtag Fail of the Week&quot; is near and dear to Phil&#39;s heart. Disney announces a new Star Wars trilogy. What do you think super-nerd Phil has to say about that? Tune in to find out!

<title>Talknowledgy Episode #103: Binders full of women, EA gives away free games, a new YouTube record, and more!</title>
<description>This week we keep pace with the US Presidential candidates and look at the online reaction during, and after, Monday&#39;s Town Hall debate. We chat about the new twitter handles (@RomneysBinder), and tumblr blogs (Binders Full of Women), created before the event was even over.

Big news on the viral video front, Gangnam Style was knocked off of YouTube&#39;s top spot after they changed the way they rank videos. Our #fail of the week centres on gaming giant EA giving away unlimited free games due to a coupon mix-up.

And in our final segment we talk about Felix Baumgartner breaking not only the sound barrier, but also the record for the “live stream with the most concurrent views ever on YouTube&quot;.

<title>Talknowledgy Episode #100: Scuffgate, mySpace, Phil gets an iPhone, and more!</title>
<description>Dave and I start the show in the world of smartphones - Scuffgate, plus some good news for Google, and some less bad news for RIM (still bad, just less bad).

In Seg 2, we discuss an internet dinosaur that&#39;s trying to rebuild itself but hasn&#39;t done enough to distance itself from its old brand. Is Myspace #CreepyOrAwesome?

Our &quot;YouTube Hero&quot; this week is courtesy of AwesomenessTV as they crush the hopes and dreams of Macheads everywhere.

Also don&#39;t forget to check out our #Fail of the week - a really well done parody of Flo Rida&#39;s &quot;Whistle&quot; which skewers the NFL and its replacement refs.

    <title>Talknowledgy for September 21, 2012</title>
<description>The iPhone 5 remains the top story this week - for good and bad reasons. New features, shipping delays, sales records broken, and Apple&#39;s broken new maps app!

This week&#39;s &quot;Creepy or Awesome?!&quot; looks at iPhone art - could the greasy smudges your fingers (and face) create when you interact with the iPhone 5 be considered art? What do you think?

We beat up on Mitt Romney for a bit this week...in Seg 3, we play a Bad Lip Reading video of Mitt at campaign events (wait, you mean he didn&#39;t really say that stuff? -PG) and then in Seg 4, we talk about the online reaction to Mitt&#39;s video shot at a donor event back in May in which he labelled 47% of Americans as &#39;entitled mooches&#39;. Mitt Romney - our &quot;YouTube Hero&quot; of the week!

    <title>Talknowledgy for September 15</title>
<description>The top story in this episode is the largest tech story of the week - The iPhone 5 announcement. We take a look at the new features, upgrades, and how it stacks up to the competition. On the legal side, Apple may not be able to sell their new device in the US for long due to alleged infringement on Samsung&#39;s and HTC&#39;s patents.

We also chat about people being caught behaving badly online. Law enforcement officials are using photo sharing sites, like Instagram, to track down and persecute people who post images of themselves using drugs. And in the &quot;Creepy or Awesome?!&quot; segment we share our thoughts about an Ottawa restaurant owner plead guilty to creating a fake sex profile site to get back at one of her customers for writing a bad online review of her restaurant.

We discuss anonymous comments - are they better than using Facebook for your comment system?

Phil drops into the Social Media Breakfast Ottawa to chat with Collin Douma, Global Digital Planning Director at BBDO New York, about how the digital age is putting an end to demographics.

Finally, our viral video this week is courtesy of Jimmy Kimmel Live as he claims to have the first iPhone 5:
