Minister Emerita

(she/her)

The Reverend Catharine Harris was the first full-time Minister of our Fellowship, serving our congregation from 1993 until she retired in 2006. Prior to that, she had been the minister of the UU Church of Cheyenne, where she was ordained in 1986, the first UU minister to serve a congregation in Wyoming. During her ministry at the Fellowship, the congregation purchased their first building and moved from a rented facility in Boulder to the present location in Lafayette.

Today, Rev. Harris is retired from active ministry. She is the first Minister Emerita at the Fellowship, a title she was bestowed after her retirement. She now is a valued member of our congregation. Rev. Harris loves to read, especially on topics related to US political issues and world politics. She also enjoys walking every day in open space near her home in Boulder, where she can pursue her love of bird watching. She and her husband, Dick Harris, have one daughter, Julia.

This team works to advance Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) in the Fellowship and in the greater community. They serve as an advisory group that consults with the Board, committees, individuals, and teams in order to educate and support them regarding matters that some individuals might otherwise not be aware of or not feel comfortable addressing. For example in Fall of 2024, JEDI organized, provided, and participated in a series called Creating Radically Inclusive Communities led by Victoria Grey. As a team, they prioritize having members who self identify as being from historically marginalized communities in our efforts to center the voices and lived experiences of minority communities.

If you would like to join us on this journey, please reach out and tell us why you are interested and how you identify.

Meetings typically occur the first Monday or Tuesday of the month from 6:30-8:00 via Zoom.
