The beauty of God was so evident in every small detail of our trip to Somotillo, Nicaragua.
Beginning with the initial call He placed on the hearts of myself and my children, to the planning
and provision of allowing the trip to happen, the careful and purposeful selection of each team
member for the week, God clearly orchestrated every piece so seamlessly.
To behold His beauty in a place so vastly different from our own, was such a blessing for my
own heart. I could see God everywhere: in His creation, in the eyes and the smiles on each of
the faces we met throughout the week, in the voices lifted to Him with praise and in prayer, in
the quiet moments of the day and in the busyness of service for His glory.
The intentionality of dwelling in God’s presence was such a gift to me throughout the week. I
truly enjoyed having so much time set aside to simply listen and see and seek the Lord. He
worked in my heart and set it on fire yet again for Him. Even more, He has grasped the heart of
my children. Witnessing them love and serve people they had never met, let alone understand
their language, brought so much joy to me as a mother. Our experience in Somotillo has ignited
something in their hearts and I look forward to watching their love for Jesus grow even more.
What the Lord has cultivated and grown in Nicaragua and Because We Care Ministries is such a
beautiful work of art. Everyone who has ever been a part of this ministry – whether for just a
short week’s visit from the U.S., a full time staff member, a short term interpreter, or those
serving for the last 25 years like Pam and Donald and others – all of their lives and hearts are
made that much bigger and more aware of His presence that is reaching the far ends of the
earth.
Everyone involved in this ministry has such a strong passion to share the good news of Jesus
Christ and it was an incredible experience to both witness and to be a part of. From sun up to
sun down, we worshiped Him with our hands, hearts, voices, testimonies, service, songs,
prayers and love. The people in each village expressed such a joy and eagerness to listen to
and receive the gospel, and it was a beautiful thing. There are so many of them with a hunger
for the Lord and it is clear that He is doing mighty work in this corner of the earth. My children
and I are honored to have been a part of it and look forward to the opportunity again in the future.

WE NEED YOUR HELP…..30% of Nicaraguans live in poverty and 8% live in extreme poverty. However, 50% of the population in rural areas live below the poverty line, and 11.5% live in extreme poverty.
For the past 22 years by God’s amazing grace Because We Care Ministry has been providing food to those that live in extreme poverty. This time of year we have a program (Manna Fest) where we provide a family of 6 food for a week. “If among you, one of your brothers should become poor, in any of your towns within your land that the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart or shut your hand against your poor brother.

Last week our mission team handed out 200 “Manna Fest” bags. These bags should feed 1200 people for a week. There more than 30,000 men, women and children in the Somotillo Nicaragua area, so we have a lot to do to bless all these families.

He said also to the man who had invited him, “When you give a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, lest they also invite you in return and you be repaid. But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.”

This morning as I sit at my desk watching the sunrise, I’m truly blown away at the GREATNESS OF ALMIGHTY GOD. I would be
INTELLECTUALLY DISHONEST if I didn’t say the past 19 months have been a bit of a struggle as it has been for many. I think about how weak my flesh really is but at the same time I know that God is in control. I tell our mission teams that it’s extremely important that we be flexible and allow God to lead and guide. I have to admit that sometimes I think God needs my help.

Today we kick off our 2021 “Manna Fest” campaign. I praise God for HIS provisions that have allowed BWCM to provide food to villages and schools in the Somotillo area. Now we would like to “LOVE DEEPER” by providing Manna bags to families. Each $10.00 bag will feed a family of 6 for a week. In the past we have used these bags at Christmas to go door-to-door and share the Gospel. This year we will distribute them as soon as we have the resources. Once we have received $1000.00 we will assemble 100 Manna Fest bags and start the distribution. Please pray for God’s guidance.

lessings and Merry Christmas to all!

This month, Pamela and I will begin our 21st year serving in Nicaragua. Every day, month and year has truly been an adventure, but I’m comfortable saying that 2020 has been the biggest challenge yet!

When we began this journey, we truly had no idea how to start a mission organization or how to carry out the will of God for this ministry. What we DID know was that God is always on the throne and in control. We began what was and still is truly a FAITH journey that has found our Heavenly Father always to be sovereign and faithful.

This year we returned from Nicaragua in early March and have not been able to return. I praise God for our Nicaragua team that has carried on the work of the ministry. I praise God for our partners that have been so FAITHFUL IN THEIR PRAYERS AND SUPPORT. I feel certain that each of us wake each morning wondering when things will get back to “normal”. No matter what, Pam and I, as well as our team, will continue to pray daily and seek God’s will for BWCM.

On December 18th, Pastor Diomedes will lead a group of pastors from the Somotillo area to the Atlantic Coast area. As most of you know, this area was hit with two hurricanes in a three-week period. This team will be taking relief supplies, and more importantly, THE GOSPEL. Please pray for this team as it will truly be the first time on mission for most of these men.

As 2020 draws to a close, I imagine many are rejoicing. At this time, please consider an END-OF-YEAR GIFT. Because we are unable to get teams to Nicaragua, we need your HELP MORE THAN EVER. Please pray about supporting BWCM with your end of the year contribution.
