Peter Terence Hardy was a beloved husband, son, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Born in Chilton, England, he lived a life filled with love, laughter, and music that touched everyone who knew him. Peter is survived by his devoted wife, Yolanda, with whom he shared a beautiful life. After marrying Yolanda on May 15, 2009, he moved to the United States in 2013, settling in Little River. There, they built a warm and happy home, shared with their cherished feline companions: Sasha, Pepper, Kittie Spice, Baby Boo, and Ballerina. In England, Peter leaves behind his loving mother, Enid, his daughter, Claire; son, Ricky; grandchildren, Ella and Thomas. He is also survived by his four sisters; Lynne, Alyson, Anita, and Karen as well as his nieces, Megan and Robin; nephews, Ross, Curtis, Bradley, and Reed; brothers-in-law, Andrew, Mickey, and Ian. A skilled electrician by trade, Peter worked with Brogden Electric, where he was known not just as a talented professional, but as a loyal colleague and dear friend. However, Peters true passion was music. A gifted stand-up bass player, he brought energy and joy to every stage he graced. He was a proud band member of the Sureshots and Some Like It Hot. He also performed with Slippery Jake and the Bad Brakes, Mark Sinnis and 825, among others. He played for music legends including Linda Gail Lewis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, Billy Lee Riley, and more. Peter never hesitated to pick up his bass. If someone needed music, he was there, playing with heart and soul. Peter was also a great cook. He loved to barbeque and prepare his British favorites. Peter was one of a kind, generous, and full of life. His cheeky smile, kind eyes, and boundless warmth made an impression on everyone he met. He made friends around the world and had a rare gift for making people feel seen, supported, and loved. He was taken from us far too soon. Lucille Raynor Smith, beloved momma, granny, aunt, and friend was finally able to make her joyous journey at age 93 to be with our Lord and Savior and her beloved husband, Leonard Franklin Smith, whom she had longed for since December of 2014. Lucille was born December 10, 1931, in Albemarle County, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Russell David and Margaret Collier Raynor. She is preceded in death by seven of her eight siblings (infant sister) Minnie Pearl, her sisters Helen Shoemaker and her husband, Bill (Orange, VA), Esther Beahm and her husband Thomas (Madison, VA), her brothers Richard Raynor and his wife Betty (Gordonsville, VA), David Raynor and his wife, Mary (Orange, VA), Albert Raynor (Orange VA), and James Raynor (Orange, VA) and a brother-in-law Leiut Taylor (Stanardsville, VA). One niece, Sandra Raynor Furr and nephew Richard Alan Raynor of North Carolina both preceded her in death as well.

Lucille is survived by her children, Donna Farrar and her husband James, her son Timothy Raynor (all of Orange, VA) and three grandchildren Jason Farrar (Ruckersville, VA), Lily McSorley (Orange, VA) and Kayli Raynor (Orange, VA). Lucille is also survived by her dear sister Dorothy Taylor of

Stanardsville, VA, her brother in law John Dyer of Orange, VA, and a multitude of beloved nieces and nephews scattered near and far but always held deep in her heart.

Lucille was a loving wife and the most sweet and generous momma and granny that any children could ask for. She knew how to play and have fun. She always wanted the best for her babies and would move mountains to make their dreams come true. Lucille raised her children in faith and taught them to love all people, the sinners and the saints, and that all people are deserving of love in God’s eyes. Lucille adored her nieces and nephews and endeavored to make sure they knew how much she loved them. She was a long standing member of Orange Community Baptist Church, and she held her church family in fine affection and deep respect.

Lucille was a wonderful cook and no one ever left her house hungry. She was a hard worker, spending years working in factories across Orange County until retiring at age 71. Her house was always open to family, friends and strangers. She gave generously without question to those in need without an ounce of suspicion and always a heart full of love and hope.

Lucille loved animals and is preceded in death by her beloved pug, Mika Jean. In her years of retirement, she gave love to the many strays and fosters that crossed the threshold. She is survived by her pug Charlotte Ann, with whom she snuggled with everyday. While Charlotte was her favorite, Lucille made it her goal to give equal time to Pepper, Anya, Dio, Tyrone, Ziggy, Spike, Blossom, Milky Cat and the birds( Sam and Dean). She deeply missed her sweet Lola, who recently passed, and was awaiting a new baby bunny. Lucille’s heart was always full of love and the need to make sure those around her felt loved.

For Lucille, our sweet momma, her life philosophy was God first, then family and then everyone. No one was left unloved if she was in your life.

A celebration of life will be held at Orange Community Baptist Church 14233 Little Zion Road, Orange, Virginia 22960 on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at 2:00 pm. Preddy’s Funeral Home in Orange is assisting with arrangements.

Rev. Charles E Beahm, 95 of Frederick, Md. formally of Rochelle, Va., passed away peacefully on Saturday April 19h 2025 at home in Frederick Maryland. He was born on December 25th 1929 to the late John Beahm and Rosa Corbin Beahm. He was preceded in death by his wife Ethel May Geyer Beahm, son Douglas Beahm and numerous siblings and one great grandchild.

He is survived by daughter Denise Ingraham; sons, Donald Beahm, David Beahm, Dale Beahm; sisters Mabel Clore and Gladys Nicholson, eleven grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM on Sunday May 4th at Preddy Funeral Home in Madison, Va. conducted by Pastor Baker Rigg. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Madison. The family will receive friends before the service, from 12:00 to 1:30 at the funeral home.

Frank Ketner Patterson 1935-2017

Frank Ketner Patterson, born May 2, 1935, met his Savior on February 3, 2017. He was 81.

Son of the late Robert H. and Louisa C. Patterson, he was a lifelong Cabarrus County resident.
Following his 1953 graduation from Winecoff High School, Frank served in the Army as a
mechanic in the Korean War. Upon returning home, he attended DeVry Institute and Automatic
Transmission School of Chicago while working for the Chicago Tribune. After completing his
education, Frank returned home where he owned and operated Patterson’s Hydramatic Shop,
where he retired after 55 years.
Frank’s mechanical expertise was evident in his work and hobbies; if he could dream it, he
could build it. He enjoyed restoring vintage cars and tractors, traveling with his family, and
serving the Lord at Branchview First Church of God. His friends and family regarded him as
hard-working, honest, loving, inventive, tender hearted, generous, and faithful. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Carl and Fred Patterson, sister Madge P. Rodgers; half-sister Evelyn C. Coe, of Marion, VA; and half-brother Ervin Cattron of North Manchester, IN.

Family will greet friends at Wilkinson Funeral Home, Sunday, February 5, from 5-7 pm.
Services, also at Wilkinson, will commence at 2:00pm the following day, Monday, February 6;
graveside service to follow at Mount Carmel Methodist Church Cemetery.

Frank is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Barbara Sifford Patterson; his two sons Frank Wesley Patterson and Carl Douglas (Amy) Patterson; his daughter Alice Patterson (Dave Trozzi); three grandchildren Jacob Patterson, Sara Patterson, and Samantha (Justin) Schnettler of Harbor Beach, MI. He is also survived by his two sisters, Frances P. Canupp of Concord and Ann P. Tidwell of Carolina Beach, and a brother-in-law, Lewis Rodgers, of Kannapolis. Finally, Frank is survived by his two canine companions, Happy and Shasta.

Dorothy Anne Jacobs McCormick, 79, of Culpeper, VA died Friday, February 4, 2022 at Novant Health Systems UVA Culpeper Hospital. She was born March 30, 1942 in Madison, VA.

Lauren Baker Crossland, a devoted wife, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at the age of 59. She was born, on August 17, 1965 to Walter and Rachel Baker, in Gaston, NC.

Lauren was the devoted wife of Jem Crossland, with whom she shared 25 wonderful years of marriage. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Cheryl "Bunny" Robins, and her husband Dave; as well as her brothers, Stan Baker and his wife Connie, and Charlton "Chip" Baker. Her cherished nieces, Cheri Stringer and husband Chris and Juli Brocato and husband Andy will also remember Lauren fondly.

Throughout her life, Lauren was known for her adventurous spirit. She loved music, traveling, and being out in nature. Whether she was under a parasol at the beach, exploring the mountains, traveling out west to see friends, or to attend music festivals; she found joy being in the moment and reminiscing adventures gone by. She loved riding on the back of her husband's motorcycles. Lauren and Jem often took to the open road, embracing the thrill of the ride.

Lauren loved music. She found inspiration in various genres, but especially loved rockabilly and old country music. She was supportive of her husband's rockabilly band, Jem Crossland & the Hypertonics at venues from NC to AZ. Lauren was even known to get up on stage with Jem occasionally to sing her go to favorite, "There He Goes" by Loretta Lynn.

Lauren offered housekeeping services for most of her working life. When she wasn't cleaning the homes of her clients, she enjoyed maintaining and updating the Baker family home, that she and Jem bought after Mr Baker died in 2017. She enjoyed cooking holiday meals for her family after Mrs Baker died in 2004. She was always happy to prepare a side dish when getting together with her longtime friend Tammy Gordon Holt for a summer pool party. She would thoughtfully prepare snacks for friends that might join her and Jem on road trips. Most of all she loved preparing meals that she shared with her husband Jem.

Lauren was very tender hearted to animals. Whether it be a stray cat or dog, a wild creature showing up at her doorstep, or a crab zigzagging its way across the beach - she wanted them to be safe and not mistreated. Her two beloved cats, Engine and Tiger will miss her immensely.

Lauren was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Baker and Rachel Brackett, as well as her and Jem's favorite dog, Blitz.

A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, September 15, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Mt. Holly. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Helen Raynor Shoemaker, 79, of Orange, VA, passed away peacefully in the presence of her children on Sunday, April 9, 2023, at Dogwood Village of Orange. She was born on May 13, 1943, in Albemarle County, to the late, Russell and Margaret Raynor.

She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Thomas (Glenn) of Orange, VA; her son, David Dyer (Donna Lou) of Oak Park, VA; her stepson, Matthew Shoemaker (Elania) of NOVA; her brother, Albert Raynor of Orange, VA; her sisters, Lucille Smith of Orange, VA, and Dorothy Taylor of Greene Co., VA; her sister-in-law, Mary Raynor; her three grandchildren, Colleen Dykstra (Clayton), Emily Lou Dyer, and DJ Dyer; two great-grandchildren, Knox Dyer, and Kove Dyer; her first husband & dear friend, John L. Dyer; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Forrest Andrew McCormick, 69, of Culpeper died Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at VCU Medical Center from complications of Agent Orange. He was born December 14, 1949 in Youngstown, OH to the late Fred and Faye Richards McCormick.

Mr. McCormick was a veteran of the US Army having served during Vietnam and was stationed in Korea.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Dorothy; sons, Shayne McCormick, Paul Jenkins and Matthew Jenkins and his wife, Jessica; daughters, Tracy Skotis, Donna Essad and Vanessa Cooper; and 16 grandchildren, Carmela, Harley, Bruce, Klarisa, LeAnna, Alaina, Ashley, Matthew Thomas, Emanuel, Robert, J.C., Joshua, Chris, Ashleigh, Devin and Nadia. He is also survived by his brother, Paul McCormick and his wife, Kathy; and numerous nephews and nieces.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Fred and James McCormick; daughter, Paula McAllister; grandsons, Mark McAllister and Leeland Jenkins; granddaughter, Leah Jenkins; and great granddaughter, Isabel Essad.

Lisa Renee Griffin, 49, of Concord, passed away on October 8, 2021 at Atrium Health in Concord, NC.

She was born on November 3, 1971 to Earl and Frances (Yost) Crisco in Concord, NC. She was a member of Harvest Community Church. Lisa had her BSN from UNCC and worked at Atrium Health Concord for many years before transitioning to case management at Rowan County Health Department. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. She enjoyed the outdoors, thoroughly enjoyed planting flowers and growing her vegetable garden each year and camping.

Lisa is survived by her loving spouse of 15 years Michael Griffin of Concord, NC, children Chloe Griffin of the home, Brittany Griffin of Enochville, NC and David (Katie) Griffin of China Grove, NC, parents Frances Crisco of Concord, NC, Earl and Carolyn Crisco of Concord, NC and sister Sherry Hartsell of Concord, NC. Grandchildren Roan and Camden, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by grandparents Carl and Onie Yost and Rachel Crisco.

David Warren Raynor, 81, passed away on July 14, 2021 in Charlottesville, VA . David was born to Russell Warren Raynor and Margaret L Collier Raynor.

He is survived by his wife Mary Corbin Raynor; daughters Debra Shifflett and Pamela Wilcox; grandchildren Jessica, Darrick and Steven Weaver; and one great grandson. He is also survived by sisters Lucille Smith, Dorothy Taylor, Helen Shumaker and brother Albert Raynor.

Dianna Reamer was born on 8 September, 1804 at New Market, Shenandoah County, Virginia. Her parents were Daniel Reamer (1776-1860) and Mary Polly Kauffman Reamer (1780-1860).

On Oct. 10, 1820, Dianna married Daniel Shomo (1792-1852) in New Market, Virginia, USA. This couple had 11 children: William Henry Shomo (1822-1908), Serena Shomo (1824-1880), Rebecca Shomo (1828-1906), John Madison Shomo (1828-1889), Daniel Joseph Shomo (1830-1898), Maria Catherine Shomo (1832-1897), James Crawford Shomo (1834-1915), Amelia Elizabeth Shomo (1836-1912), Esiciah Washington Shomo (1839-1841), Jacob L. Shomo (1843-1864) and Mary Ann Shomo (1845-1925).

Daniel Shomo died in 1852. On July 25, 1858. Dianna Reamer Shomo married John Wilmoth in Barbour County, WV.

From New Market, Shenandoah County, Virginia to Barbour County, WV, living many years in Barbour County, Dianna Reamer Shomo Wilmoth died in Barbour County, WV on 29 March 1882.

He was born on 25 Nov. 1792 at Berks County in Pennsylvania.

His parents were Anthony Shomo (1756-1812) and Elizabeth Rebecca Obold Shomo (1767-1842). He was married to Dianna Reamer Shomo (Wilmoth). Their children were Elone William H Shomo, Celena Shomo Marple, John Madison Shomo, James Crawford Shomo, Daniel Joseph Shomo, Amelia Elizabeth Shomo Corley, and Mary A Shomo Stalnaker.

She was born in 1849 to Elone William H. Shomo and Frances J. Louderback Shomo in Page County VA.
She has been ill for several years and was bedfast the last month. For the past twenty five years she lived in Altoona, PA. Surviving are four sons and Four daughters John W. Gaines ,Mrs. George W. Miller, Mrs. William Miner, Mrs. Harry Zeigler, Thomas M. Gaines, Charles E. Gaines, and Robert L. Gaines All of this city.

Terri Furr Frye, 69 passed away at Carolinas Healthcare System NorthEast on August 31, 2017.

Funeral services will be 11:30 am Tuesday at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Randy Wall . Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10 to 11:30 am at Wilkinson Funeral Home.

Terri was born in Cabarrus County on February 14, 1948. She was the daughter of the late Nevin Wayne and the late Betty Lee Furr and stepdaughter of the late Darrell Cranford. She was a graduate of Winecoff High School(class of 1966) and Evans Business College. In 1965, Terri went on a date to the Concord-Kannapolis bell game, aka “The Mud Bowl.” From that day on Terri was attached to her date, Leonard, and a was a loyal Concord High School Spider fan. She also liked the Carolina Panthers and watching sports. She enjoyed eating at the Stag ‘n Doe regularly as well as breakfast at Troutman’s Barbecue. She loved the beach and her Winecoff High School classmates. She had a passion for animals. She was one of the founding members of the Cabarrus Humane Society. Above all else, Terri loved her husband, her children, and her beloved grandchildren.

John Willis Dodson, 86 of Madison, Virginia passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on Friday, July 28, 2017. He was born in Culpeper on May 15, 1931 to Richard Hezekiah and Rhoda Frances Jenkins Dodson; served his country for a decade in the U.S. Air Force; was a civil servant for the federal government; and owned and operated both Little John's Market and the A-1 Country Store. He also volunteered his time selflessly as a Hunter Education Instructor for 28 years, often with his loving wife by his side. He received many awards including the Morgan Award for Hunter Education, the International Hunter Education Hall of Fame Award and the Virginia Hunter Education Lifetime Achievement Award. John was the founder of Cedar Mountain Youths with a mission of teaching young people firearm safety and responsibility. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and mentoring others. John believed that our first loyalty was to God, then to his country, then to his family, and only then to himself.
Mr. Dodson was beloved as a husband, father, grandfather and uncle.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lucy Ruth Woods Dodson of Madison; his children, David L. Dodson and wife Laurie of Rhoadesville, Cheryl D. Goldsborough and husband Lee of Brightwood; his grandchildren, Rebecca Dodson, Rachel Dodson and husband Eddie Norlander, Renae Helwig and husband Aaron, Evan Goldsborough and fiancé Jacqueline Allen, Amelia Goldsborough; and his siblings Mary Huntt, Alice Reed and husband Ben, Gertrude Fant, and James Dodson. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Elizabeth Marshall, his brother Richard Lewis Dodson and an infant son, Richard David Dodson.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Clore-English Funeral Home, Friday August 4, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with internment in Culpeper National Cemetery, Chandler Street, Culpeper, VA with military honors provided by the V.F.W. Post 2524 Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends Thursday, August 3, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Clore-English Funeral Home, 11190 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper, VA.

"Helen Boehm, a self-made businesswoman known as the Princess of Porcelain for her company’s elaborate sculptures, which have graced the coffee tables of royalty and heads of state for six decades, died on Monday at her home in West Palm Beach, Fla. She was 89.

Mrs. Boehm had been ill with cancer and Parkinson’s disease for some time, said Sharon Lee Parker, the current president and chief executive of Boehm Porcelain, the Trenton-based company Mrs. Boehm helped found and indefatigably promoted.

With her husband, Edward, Mrs. Boehm (pronounced beam) founded the company, known early on as E. M. Boehm Studios, in 1950. At the time, neither knew a thing about porcelain. He was a veterinary assistant trained in animal husbandry; she was an optician.

But Mr. Boehm was a gifted sculptor and Mrs. Boehm a natural pitchwoman. After all, she had once persuaded a customer named Clark Gable to buy a pair of sunglasses, and who in his line of work would not already own one?

Considered highly collectible, Boehm porcelains often depict flora and fauna and are known for their handpainted colors and lifelike detail. The current line ranges in price from $125 for a tiny lamb to $20,000 for a three-foot-high eagle. Rare vintage pieces have fetched in the neighborhood of $100,000, Ms. Parker said.

Boehm sculptures can be found in museum collections, including at the Metropolitan Museum and the Vatican. They have been owned by luminaries like Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles, Pope John Paul II and Sophia Loren.

In a marketing coup scored by Mrs. Boehm decades ago at the cost of 3 cents, Boehm pieces have been presented to every United States president from Eisenhower to Obama. For years they have been the de facto state gift from the White House to foreign dignitaries, as in 1972, when President Richard M. Nixon presented Mao Zedong with a pair of life-size porcelain swans.

After Mr. Boehm’s death in 1969, Mrs. Boehm continued to run the company with characteristic savvy. No sooner was someone in the headlines, it seemed, then a commemorative piece was made and bestowed on the recipient with all attendant fanfare.

For Diana, Princess of Wales, Mrs. Boehm created a porcelain copy of her wedding bouquet. After Diana’s death in 1997, she issued a limited-edition white rose, sending one each to Princes William and Harry and offering the rest for sale at $350 apiece. (A pink rose honoring Diana can be purchased on the company’s Web site for $395.)

Under Mrs. Boehm’s stewardship, Boehm grew into a multimillion-dollar business with studios in Trenton and Malvern, England. Boehm porcelain was sold in high-end stores like Bonwit Teller, and the company had its own showrooms in New York and other cities.

In consequence, Mrs. Boehm kept (simultaneously) a Rolls-Royce, a Mercedes and a Duesenberg; maintained a constellation of homes in the United States and abroad; owned a prizewinning polo team; and cheerfully dripped Harry Winston.

All this Mrs. Boehm, the daughter of working-class Italian immigrants, built from a business begun in a cellar with a $1,000 loan.

Elena Francesca Stephanie Franzolin was born in Brooklyn on Dec. 26, 1920, and grew up in the Bensonhurst neighborhood there. Her father, a cabinetmaker, died when she was 13, and Helen, as she was known, worked as a dressmaker to help support the family. As a young woman, she became an optician.

In 1944, she married Edward Marshall Boehm. An experienced livestock breeder, he made realistic clay sculptures of animals as a pastime. Mrs. Boehm encouraged him to pursue his art professionally, and eventually, with a loan from one of her eyeglass clients, they started a porcelain studio in a Trenton basement.

She often said that Mr. Boehm cared nothing for business. So she took matters into her own hands and was soon on the telephone to the Met, which purchased a Hereford bull and a Percheron stallion. In the mid-1950s she wrote to the first lady, Mamie Eisenhower.

Before long, a reply came from the White House inviting her to lunch. (The letter had 3 cents postage due, which Mrs. Boehm promptly paid.) She arrived in Washington with bull in hand, the first in a long line of presidential Boehms. And thus, president by president and prince by prince, Boehm bloomed.

Mrs. Boehm sold the company in 2003. When, several owners later, Ms. Parker took over last year, it was in brittle shape, its staff of more than 400 reduced to four. Today, Boehm pieces can be purchased on the company’s Web site and through several dozen authorized retailers.

Mrs. Boehm leaves no immediate survivors. She was the author of a memoir, “With a Little Luck: An American Odyssey” (Rawson, 1985, with Nancy Dunnan), with a foreword by Letitia Baldrige.

Not all of Mrs. Boehm’s marketing schemes worked out happily, at least not at first. There was the time, in 1958, that she brought a flock of exotic birds — real ones — to Tiffany’s in New York to promote her company’s bird figurines. The birds slipped out of their cage and were pursued through the store, gingerly, by employees brandishing small blue boxes. Some fled into Gotham’s wild blue yonder and were never seen again.

The story made the papers, and Mrs. Boehm appeared on television for days afterward."

Helen Franzolin (Beahm) was born in New York on December 26, 1920 to Peter and Frances Franzolin. She died November 15, 2010 in West Pam Beach, Florida. She is buried at St. Mary's Cemetery in Trenton, New Jersey.

Edward Marshall Boehm 1913-1969

Edward Marshall Boehm was born in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1913. His surname is pronounced "Beam". His parents separated before he was born. His mother, Elsie Boehm, died when he was seven years old. (He was not to meet his father until he was in his twenties.) Friends enrolled him in an all boys school for orphans and the poor, known as McDonogh School, where he remained until he was 16 years old. He showed some artistic ability at an early age, but it was not until after World War II that he was drawn to the art of sculpture which would be his vocation. .He was attracted to the art of porcelain sculpture and, after visiting some porcelain factories in Trenton, New Jersey, became determined to set up his own factory. In the basement of his home, he developed a formula for an excellent porcelain and began producing sculptures. In 1944 he married Helen Franzolin (1920-2010). They later moved to Trenton, New Jersey. The union was happy but childless. They remained together until Edward Marshall Boehm died 1969. His widow died in 2010, aged 89. Helen was also his distributor, sales manager, and public relations voice, but the pervasive prejudice against American-made porcelain which existed at the time was difficult to overcome, and they struggled, their finances dwindling. Their breakthrough came in 1951, when the Curator of the American Wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York purchased two statues for the museum's collection, thus giving an authoritative endorsement of Boehm's art. Still, it was not until 1955 that Boehm's company really began to grow. By the time of Edward's death in 1969, he had seen his porcelains placed in the permanent collections of many of the world's most important museums and galleries. Today one can view Edward's sculptures in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Hermitage, the Smithsonian, and the Tokyo National Museum. Years after his death, in 1992, a wing in the Vatican Museum of Art in Rome was named in memory of Edward Boehm; he was the first American to receive that honor.

Peggie Marie Plott, 84 years of age, of Concord, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at First Assembly Living Center in Concord.

She was born December 14, 1931 in Concord, NC to the late Martin Luther Earley and the late Willene Elizabeth Earley. She was also preceded in death by husband, Billy Ray Plott, grandson, Dustin Heath Witherspoon. She worked as an office manager for the City of Charlotte before retiring in 1994.

Survivors include son, Sherrill Darwin (Vicki) Plott of Concord, NC; daughter, Judy Plott Witherspoon of Concord, NC; granddaughter, Lindsey (Travis) Echerd of Concord, NC; grandson, Corey (Nicole) Plott of Concord, NC; granddaughter, Cassie Patrice Witherspoon of Lexington, NC; great-grandsons, Colton William Echerd, Knox Tyler Echerd, Richard Noah Raynor, and Blake Riley Witherspoon; nieces, Ann Payne, Patricia Bigham, & Debbie Plott

A graveside funeral service will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM in Charlotte Memorial Gardens at 7632 Hood Rd, Charlotte NC, officiated by Rev. Mike Toney. The burial will follow there.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gladys Marie Beahm Nicholson
of Brightwood; one son, Dennis C. Nicholson and wife, Savilla
of Brightwood; one daughter, Wendy D. Boone and husband, Martin
of Madison; and four grandchildren, Derek Craig Nicholson, Sarah Nicole Nicholson,
Rachel Marie Boone, and Kaylan Michelle Boone.

Jeanette Arlene (Harlow) Love, 70, of Palmyra, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at her residence.

She was born on March 26, 1944 in Charlottesville, a daughter of the late Carl and Ruby (Profitt) Harlow.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, George and Thelma Love; four brothers, Billy, Ronnie, George, and John Harlow; an uncle, Monroe Harlow; and a son-in-law, Gary Sipe.

Arlene worked for the University of Virginia at Blue Ridge Hospital and later at the Sawyer Hospitality House for over 20 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a friend to many.

Survivors include nine children, Jeannie Sipe, Dorothy Hicks and husband, Chuck, Vickie Campbell, Ronnie Egnor and wife, Malisa, Teresa Smith, Cathy Shelton, Randy Egnor, Jimmy Fincham, and Melvin Love; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Blevins and husband, Garland and Shirley Gates; a special nephew, Dale Bliss; many other nieces, nephews, and extended family members; and her beloved dog, Casey.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Thacker Brothers Lake Monticello Funeral Home in Palmyra by Reverend Randy Golladay. Interment will follow at Mount Eagle Baptist Church in Charlottesville.

Bernice Kathryn McDaniel Jarrell, 92, of Pratts passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2014, in Charlottesville. Born October 5, 1921, in Madison County she was the daughter of the late Edgar McDaniel and Lucy McDaniel, and wife of the late Guy Lee Jarrell. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Nora Alexander and Carrie G. Jenkins; five brothers, Jessie, Claude, James, Eugene and Hubert McDaniel; three nephews, William Alexander, James Alexander and Lewis McDaniel; and two nieces, Joann Partlow and Louise Herndon. She was a member of Church of the Brethren in Kinderhook and was retired from the Silk Mill in Orange. Mrs. Jarrell made a wish to thank each and all who made her life good for her after her husband passed on. She made beautiful quilts and many crochet pieces that she enjoyed giving to people and if she gave you one she would always let you know how to take care of it. She is survived by four nieces, Genevieve Shifflett, Nina Belle Sprouse, Evelyn Mae Lamb and Corrie Lee Smith; and numerous great-nieces and nephews and friends. Funeral service was held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Madison conducted by Pastor Glenn Shifflett with interment in Madison Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Pratts. The family received friends one hour before the service on Wednesday from 10 until 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
