• Completely unpredictable tonal shifts
• Peak early-90s Hong Kong insanity

Today we’re diving into the gloriously sleazy, totally over-the-top cult classic Reform School Girls—a campy parody of the women-in-prison movies that dominated exploitation cinema in the 1970s.

Directed by Tom DeSimone, the film cranks every genre trope to absurd levels: corrupt wardens, brutal matrons, yard politics, rebellion, and pure grindhouse chaos. Instead of playing it straight, the movie leans hard into satire—turning the entire women-in-prison formula into a wild, tongue-in-cheek spectacle.

The film stars shock-rock legend Wendy O. Williams of The Plasmatics, who basically plays an amped-up version of herself as the terrifying yard boss Charlie. Alongside her are Sybil Danning as the leather-clad authoritarian warden and Pat Ast as the sadistic head matron running the place.

The movie even features appearances from actors connected to the Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning and Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives universe, making it a fun curiosity for slasher fans as well as exploitation lovers.

In this episode we break down:

The ridiculous tropes of women-in-prison movies
Why this film works as both parody and exploitation
The chaotic presence of Wendy O. Williams
The outrageous final prison riot
And why trash cinema like this is sometimes the most fun of all

If you enjoy cult movies, exploitation cinema, and bizarre 80s oddities, this one is definitely worth a watch.

Thanks for watching!

Often compared to Alucarda, this Mexican cult classic blends nunsploitation, religious horror, psychological breakdown, and grindhouse sleaze into something uniquely unsettling.

The film follows Sister Maria, a devout and compassionate nun whose faith begins to crumble after a mysterious encounter with what appears to be Lucifer himself. As temptation, visions, and suppressed desires begin to consume her, Maria spirals into madness—leading to violence, blasphemy, and one of the most shocking finales in exploitation cinema.

Directed by veteran filmmaker Gilberto Martínez Solares, the movie sits in a fascinating space between arthouse cinematography and grindhouse excess. With vibrant colors, beautiful Mexican landscapes, and an unforgettable performance by Cecilia Pezet, Satánico Pandemonium proves that exploitation films can be both sleazy and visually stunning.

In this video we cover:

What nunsploitation actually is
Why Mexico only produced a couple of films in the subgenre
The film’s connection to Alucarda
The cinematography and visual style
Behind-the-scenes trivia about the infamous finale
Why this film still stands out in cult horror today

Imagine running a satanic cult in the 1970s…

Now imagine accidentally kidnapping a cheerleader who might actually be a witch.

That’s basically the plot of Satan’s Cheerleaders (1977) — a strange mix of horror, teen comedy, and drive-in exploitation written and directed by Greydon Clark.

In this episode of The Cadaver Lab, we break down this oddball cult classic featuring:

• Kidnapped cheerleaders
• A creepy janitor recruiting sacrifices
• A satanic cult with serious workplace drama
• A surprise witch with revenge on her mind

Does the movie deliver the sleazy drive-in thrills its title promises… or does it feel more like a goofy ’70s comedy?

Let’s dig into it.

On this episode of The Cadaver Lab, we dive into one of the strangest horror comedies to crawl out of the video store era — The Invisible Maniac (1990).

Imagine a homicidal mad scientist who finally discovers the secret to invisibility… and immediately uses it to spy on high school girls before going on a full-blown murder spree. That’s the basic premise behind this bizarre cult film written and directed by Adam Rifkin.

Originally airing during late-night cult movie blocks like USA Up All Night hosted by Rhonda Shear, this 1990 oddity blends teen sex comedy, slasher insanity, and classic mad-scientist tropes inspired by H. G. Wells’s novel The Invisible Man.

Starring Noel Peters as the deeply disturbed scientist Kevin Dornwinkle, the film follows an escaped psychiatric patient who perfects an invisibility serum while posing as a high school teacher. What follows is a chaotic mix of locker-room hijinks, outrageous murders, and some of the most unapologetically sleazy moments you’ll ever see in a cult horror comedy.

Along the way we talk about:

The bizarre plot and unforgettable kills
The film’s connection to classic invisibility stories
The era of late-night cable movie blocks
The absurdity of 80s and early-90s teen sex comedies
The recent 4K release from Vinegar Syndrome and its behind-the-scenes extras

So grab a slice of pizza, crack open a Mountain Dew, and join me for a nostalgic trip back to the late-night cable horror scene.

Starring the stunning Rosalba Neri as the hypnotic Countess and Mark Damon in a dual role as twin brothers caught in a supernatural nightmare, this film blends vampire lore, erotic ritual, and pure chaos into one unforgettable experience.

We break down:

The bizarre plot involving the legendary Ring of the Nibelungen
Twin brothers, vampires, and total narrative madness
The influence of Euro horror legends like Jess Franco, Dario Argento, and Sergio Martino
The sleazy brilliance of cinematographer Joe D’Amato
And why this might be one of the most entertainingly absurd vampire films of the 1970s

From eerie castles to hypnotic blood rituals, this one leans ALL the way into style, atmosphere, and exploitation-era insanity.

If you’re into cult horror, Euro sleaze, and the wild side of vampire cinema… you’re in the right place.

For years I’ve explored horror movies from all over the world — but one subgenre somehow slipped through the cracks: Bollywood horror.

So I decided to fix that by watching one of the most famous cult films from the Ramsay Brothers: Veerana (1988).

What I discovered was a horror movie unlike anything I expected — packed with witches, black magic, foggy graveyards, monster transformations… and full musical dance numbers right in the middle of the story.

Welcome to the world of Masala cinema, where horror, comedy, romance, music, and melodrama are all blended together into one unforgettable experience.

In this episode we explore:

The history of the Ramsay Brothers

Why Bollywood horror became so popular

The strange storytelling style of Masala films

Whether Veerana holds up today

I have to admit… I’m genuinely embarrassed that I’d never seen Wax Mask (1997) until now — even though I call myself a huge Italian horror fan!

In this episode of The Cadaver Lab, I finally dive into the wild, forgotten 1997 Italian horror film co-written by Lucio Fulci and Dario Argento. What was supposed to be Fulci’s comeback became something even more special after his passing, with special-effects legend Sergio Stivaletti stepping in to direct.

From the brutal opening murder with a razor-sharp metal claw to the insanely lifelike (and terrifying) wax figures, this late-90s Gothic gem is packed with gorgeous production design, practical gore that still holds up, and that perfect Italian horror atmosphere.

I also break down the fascinating true story: the long-time rivalry between Fulci and Argento, how Argento tried to give Fulci one last film, and why this movie feels like a love letter to classic wax-museum horrors like House of Wax.

Available to stream on Tubi right now, or grab the killer Severin 4K Blu-ray (loaded with commentaries, interviews, and behind-the-scenes footage — 100% worth it).

Euro Horror Madness: The Werewolf vs. the Vampire Woman (1971)

Welcome back to The Cadaver Lab, where classic horror gets put on the slab and examined under flickering lights.

This episode dives into the blood-soaked world of 1971’s The Werewolf vs. the Vampire Woman — one of the most infamous entries in Spanish horror cinema. Starring cult legend Paul Naschy as the doomed wolfman Waldemar Daninsky, this film throws classic monster mythology into a feverish Euro-horror blender, mixing gothic atmosphere, surreal storytelling, and grindhouse excess. We’ll explore how the film fits into Naschy’s long-running Wolfman saga, why it became a fan favorite, and how it reflects the wild, anything-goes era of early ’70s European horror.

Along the way, we’ll also break down Paul Naschy’s legacy — from his obsession with Universal monsters to his role in putting Spanish horror on the international cult map. Love it or loathe it, this is monster cinema at its strangest and most fascinating.

If you’re into classic horror, Euro horror, werewolves, vampires, and cult cinema, you’re in the right lab.
