Having an editorial calendar allows for you to slot in your ideas as they come to you. It’s somewhere that you can add monthly topics to give you focus, slot in any promotional posts, quotes, images and trending topics for the month. Having an editorial calendar allows for you to plan many months in advance and see where there are any holes that you need to fill in.

Joint Ventures and Guest Bloggers

Having an editorial calendar allows for you to plan joint ventures or have guest bloggers contribute to your site ( or for you to contribute to others) When you plan it out in advance you know exactly where, when and who is contributing and can set dates to have content well before it’s due to go out.

Increased Productivity

Having an editorial calendar allows you to know what content you have well in advance and never be at a loss for what to say. You can spend time curating content on a specific day of the week or month and slot it into the calendar ahead of time so you’re using your time more wisely! In fact, if you take the time to write a few blog posts ahead of time and schedule them you’ll increase productivity that much more!

Having an editorial calendar just works. To be honest when I use one I create more content for my blog which gives me more to send out across my social networks in turn increasing traffic back to my website. When I don’t do this, traffic is down!

Alana greeted me and made me feel at home while describing what we were to get up to that day. After getting comfortable on the table she examined my skin and began with a ‘pre cleanse’. The Spa.

Upon my arrival at the spa I was warmly greeted by the spa manager Laureina. She took my guest and myself through the spa to show us the changing rooms and gorgeous outdoor garden and pool area for our use. This in and of itself was its own little oasis. You may want to spend the day there! It was a beautiful warm sunny spring weekend and the pools outside where welcoming and inviting. A gorgeous garden area with a beautiful waterfall feature by the hot tub. The cold pool was just steps away. It is a saltwater pool to help rid the body of toxins and provide the ultimate in the relaxation and wellness.  The cold pool  being  saltwater allows your body to just float. You want to be sure to arrive early for your appointment so that you can enjoy this outdoor feature.

My Beauty Through Balance Scrub and Massage.

I was greeted by my therapist Beth, who invited me inside to enjoy my treatment. She guided me through the spa and let me know that I would be receiving a beautiful Beauty through Balance salt scrub and relaxation massage. She explained to me how to disrobe and get onto the table comfortably. I truly didn’t know what I was in for!

My treatment began with a beautiful salt scrub. The Beauty through Balance product was amazing. The salt scrub was so soft I barely felt the exfoliation process! This was also due to the touch of my therapist being so nurturing and specific. This was a  full body treatment from my neck to my toes. Soft hot towels were used to remove the exfoliant, after which I enjoyed a warm shower.

I quickly slipped back on the table to enjoy a full body relaxation massage. Beth was thorough about checking on pressure. I do enjoy a firm pressure massage and she incorporated this well for a relaxation only treatment. My body felt like it melted into the table. I have never experienced a treatment on a table as comfortable as this one. Well my therapist and I enjoyed some conversation during my treatment I still was able to attain a deep state of relaxation and almost tripped drift off to sleep. Beth was careful to pay attention to all the areas of concern that I had mentioned. I didn’t want to get off the table.

Upon completion of the massage treatment I was invited to spend some time in the steam shower  that was right inside my beautiful treatment room. I was given the Beauty through Balance glacial clay to apply as it is a detoxifying product to use after a body treatment. I applied the beautiful clay product and enjoyed the steam for approximately 15 minutes. This was an amazing way to finish off this treatment!

I entered the unassuming space off Dollarton Highway and was greeted by owner Laura Gobbo. She saw my face light up when I saw that she used great products such as Jane Iredale, Dermalogica and Beauty Through Balance. Laura had me fill out a quick intake form and then introduced me to the new product that I was about to experience!

The Product! 

I was pleasantly surprised to learn that I was to experience the new Eco Cert line Sacred Nature by Comfort Zone. The line is laden with organic Buriti Oil and Butterfly Bush extract as main ingredients that boast rich fatty acids and antioxidants! The line is very simple yet the main ingredients throughout are perfect for assisting skin types of slightly more mature nature

The Treatment!

This treatment is slightly more along the lines of ‘Royal’. It is new on the menu  and is called the Sacred Nature Organic Face & Body Ritual. I quickly slipped on to the table and when Laura joined me she began with a gentle cleansing and back exfoliation with the Sacred Nature gommage. To allow the product to penetrate she applied hot towels and allowed me to relax for a few minutes while giving me gentle body compressions. Upon removal of the gommage I was treated to a back, arm and hand massage. I was almost ready to drift off when it was time to turn over in order to get down to the facial!

Something that I enjoyed most about the process was that the products were very light in scent. Strictly coming from the ingredients within the product. Laura inspected my skin and began with a light application of the cleansing milk, followed by the gentle gommage to exfoliate and then a hydrating mask. All the while the process being one continuous gentle massage. Upon removal of the mask Laura continued with the same fluid movements to apply the facial oil and moisturizer in the line being sure to massage shoulders, neck and decollete. My skin was left feeling dewy and absolutely glowing. Laura offered a light dusting of mineral make up to help me on my way. The entire process was just under 90 minutes but made me feel like I’d had a nice little get away!

It gives me great pleasure to share with you Entrepreneur Success Recipe by local Vancouver businessman and author Colin Sprake. I had the honour last summer of meeting Colin for the first time. We spoke on a panel together about social media with golf course professionals. It was a casual day and we spoke candidly about our businesses. Stinking Thinking

We’ve all been there! There is a pleasant reminder at the start of this book to get out of that mindset. I’ve been with my Dentist at Suter Brook Dental for two years now and have talked about almost everything dental. I love the office as it’s different than those I’ve had in the past and definitely not your ‘mall dentist’ that you walk past. These ladies are extremely well educated and take care and pride in educating their clients in a great environment and truly they have fun doing it!  I love to learn and gain knowledge about anything health and wellness so when it came to cosmetic tooth whitening… I really wanted the  skinny!

Zoom Whitening is a laser treatment that uses a medical grade peroxide solution, activated by a special light, to whiten  your teeth.  Teeth usually whiten 1-5 shades depending on duration of treatment and all teeth are different and results are all individual.

My dentist  recommends Zoom treatments only if you have a professional cleaning within the last 6 months. With no issues I was a fit to give Zoom a try.

Two weeks prior to my treatment it was recommended that I use a specific toothpaste with a higher floride content made specifically for sensitive teeth. Some people experience extreme sensitivities during or after treatment or what is commonly dubbed as a ‘zinging’ sensation. This toothpaste from the dentist specifically helps to address the sensitivities that may occur.

The full  Zoom process takes about an hour and half.  The first step is to prepare your mouth/lips for stretching around the contraption that holds your mouth open so your teeth remain dry and exposed to the light.

My hygienist began by explaining everything to me and even recommended advil as part of the protocol. She then placed a rectangular shaped contraption in my mouth.  It stretched my lips out, and when it was situated, I was told to bite down to hold it in place.  Gauze was then put around the sides, top, and bottom of my mouth to keep saliva from getting on my teeth.  This was actually a little uncomfortable until we got everything situated.

Next was protecting my gums. A liquid gel was painted my gums, then a small blue light was scanned over them to harden the gel. This is done so that there is  good protection for the gums so they don’t get bleached or cause pain during the whitening process.

Lastly, my hygienist applied the hydrogen peroxide solution on my teeth, then put the Zoom light right up to my mouth, where I held still under the light for 15 minutes.  After the first round, she rinsed off my teeth and applied another round of bleach and I sat under the light for another 15 minutes and then a final time. I didn’t really feel any sensations or zinging at this time however it was explained to me again that everyone has a different experience.

While I had no pain or zinging during the procedure I did experience some zinging a few hours later which subsided quickly. My teeth whitened by four shades and I was quite amazed with the results. I was told not to drink coffee or red wine for at least 48 hrs after as the teeth are more porous at this time and susceptible to staining. I did have coffee through a straw to avoid this the next few days.

I do feel that all precautions were taken and everything was explained very thoroughly to me. While this may not be something for everyone, I felt that because I was so well taken care of this was a safe procedure. Results can last many years depending on habits. Some opt to have take home trays to continue the process further at home. I was pleased with my results and happy to share  here!

I have to say that I am really excited to share the Perk Me Up Peel from SKN Holistic Rejuvenation Clinic with you! Originally I won this as a random twitter draw and took it as the perfect opportunity to share it here!

 
I arrived for my treatment and was greeted by Megan. She had me fill out the standard questionnaire. I loved the Yaletown space and the clean, welcoming environment. I had a few minutes to relax and take in the space and it’s many offerings. Cosmetic Acupuncture, Medical Skin Needling, Peels and Photo Rejuvenation Facials to name just a few!

Megan took me into the treatment room and allowed me to get comfortable on the table. I had not had a treatment like this peel up until now so she explained that as it is quick and effective there was no need to change but just get comfy on the table and allow her to work her magic.

The treatment began with Megan’s gentle touch and the application of the Citrus Gel Cleanser to rid my skin of impurities and leave a clean slate for the Lactic Acids to work. Megan began first with 20% Lactic Acid followed by a 50% for my skin and the purposes of this particular peel. I felt a slightly heated sensation which quickly dissipated and the product went to work on my skin. Different levels of peels can assist with hyperpigmentation, hydration and anti aging.

This process was followed by the Rhonda Allison Pumpkin E Serum, an anti aging, antioxidant rich complex perfect for winter dehydration. As well, the nutrients found in pumpkin enzymes deliver a dose of vitamins to your skin! To help this product penetrate and absorb further Megan applied a beautiful hydrating milk mask which was cooling and calming after the peel. Megan used the signature Jade Rollers for this part of the treatment and gave my face a little mini massage, in turn further assisting the product to stay on the skin and do it’s job.

This treatment was fast, effective and produced results! My skin felt amazing for weeks after. Megan was careful to give the after care instructions so that I could stay clear of some of my more active home care products for the following week. Sun protection is always important but particularly so after a peel too!

Just Be You! 

Yes it’s true! There is no one more truer than you? Or so the saying goes. Get out there and be the face of your brand or business and represent well. Be true to yourself and the people that  you want to serve. There may be prime opportunity to shine when you need to respond to a comment, message or even an negative remark on one of your networks. If it’s the latter, give yourself 24hrs or so to respond well as this will be part of your digital footprint.

Engage!

For some of you I’m preaching to the choir here but set the time aside to interact and enjoy the conversation. It’s through this process that you may meet someone great, be of assistance to someone or learn something new!

Think Before You Speak! 

What goes online, stays online. What happens in Vegas… doesn’t necessarily stay in Vegas anymore!

Promote! 

Yes! Go ahead… but make sure you’re taking the opportunity to share others great content by Retweeting them or tagging them on that Facebook post. Use this to add value and be of service to the community that you’re building on your page. It is ok to share your monthly special or a bit about yourself but there is nothing worse than landing on someone’s profile to find it all about YOU! People will ‘hide’ you in their feed or unfollow you on twitter. Be there to engage and have a conversation.
