印象‧北國

「空氣裡充滿了各種顏色，其中最多的就是紫色和灰色，而我喜歡紫色。」─簡美蘭

我們的母親，小朋友的奶奶，學生稱呼她為簡老師，咖啡音的客人稱她杜媽媽。母親十九歲時任教於台北市雙園國小，進入台灣油畫素描大師李石樵先生門下學畫。她參加了數屆教師美展，校方總是以相當於一個月的薪水買下母親的畫作，對當時年輕的她而言是很大的鼓勵。工作和家庭的忙碌使母親沒有時間作畫，直到 1989年母親因為照顧孫子而從石牌國小退休，才終於重拾畫筆。

1989-1996之間，母親最常畫的主題是花、天母的街道、陽明山和北海岸的風光。移居溫哥華之後，母親開始大量作畫。班夫國家公園的景致、社區裡的櫻花、列治文的花園、甚至屋頂上掛的一輪明月，都入了畫。早期跟隨李石樵大師的磨練，母親的素描功力展現在油畫與淡彩之中。潛心學佛的母親近年來致力於佛像畫作，將莊嚴的佛像注入印象派活潑的空氣感和光影色彩。

本次畫展作品包括母親以北國和佛像為主的畫作，以及十六位學生的作品。

咖啡音的水果茶譜

掛滿了媽媽的畫-咖啡音 CAFE ANDANTE

新開了一個茶論壇，TeaLounge 茶沙發，還沒什麼客人，只能靠我這個腦袋呈現遲滯狀況的孕婦苦撐...發文都自己發...唉，好心的朋友來幫忙灌灌水吧...中英皆可呦！

回到正題，為了茶沙發，我想找一些茶譜來寫寫，第一個想到的就是小時候超愛喝的水果茶。每次和媽媽去咖啡館，媽媽就會點一壺小小的水果茶，配上小小的杯子，我都會覺得自己簡直是未成年的小貴婦...
開了咖啡音之後，水果茶也是我們的招牌之一，除了是新鮮水果煮製之外，更充滿了濃濃的鄉愁，喝一壺水果茶，就會想到天母的欒樹。我的好朋友chantee每次從downtown飛車趕來，為的也就是媽媽的家鄉菜和一壺濃郁的水果茶。
剛才在網上亂逛，看到了Yilan的水果茶配方，提起十多年前的咖啡館，倒真讓人懷舊起來。咖啡館的溫度總是比室外高上好幾度，老板認真煮咖啡的神情是咖啡店裡最美的畫面。曾幾何時Starbucks取代了溫暖的小咖啡店，工讀生照著SOP按下全自動義式咖啡機，打出漂亮的泡沫，走進咖啡店，每一次都要再重複一次自己要點的東西，因為工讀生不會認得你，也不會在來往的客人中記著你的口味。
想起了我們的咖啡音CAFE ANDANTE。前兩天和姐姐去吃東方美食，還看到榴槤弟在打工，每次都要喝榴槤奶茶的孩子。那時來店裡的每個孩子都像是我們的弟弟妹妹，每個人愛喝什麼愛吃什麼我們都瞭若指掌。現在想想我也不知道自己哪來的勇氣就這樣離開回台北。

回到正題，以下是咖啡音的水果茶配方。

水果茶 (450cc小壺)

材料
百香果丁 2大匙 (約1/8顆)
柳橙丁 2大匙 (約1/8顆)
蘋果丁 2大匙 (約1/8顆)
鳳梨丁 1大匙 (罐頭鳳梨可)
柳橙汁 1oz (30cc)
鳳梨汁 2/3oz (20cc)
糖 1/2大匙 (可不加)
伯爵茶 1大匙 (約3茶匙，裝入茶袋或濾器)

作法
將果丁和果汁先倒入350cc開水煮沸，關小火再煮約5分鐘。
放入茶袋，小火再煮約3分鐘即可。
將果丁和茶湯倒入小壺，茶袋可加可不加。

美白水果茶
材料
百香果丁 2大匙 (約1/8顆)
柳橙丁 2大匙 (約1/8顆)
蘋果丁 2大匙 (約1/8顆)
小紅莓乾 1大匙
柳橙汁 1/2oz (15cc)
檸檬汁 2/3oz (20cc)
糖 1/2大匙 (可不加)
伯爵茶或祈門紅茶 1大匙 (約3茶匙，裝入茶袋或濾器)

作法
將果丁和果汁先倒入350cc開水煮沸，關小火再煮約5分鐘。
放入茶袋，小火再煮約3分鐘即可。
將果丁和茶湯倒入小壺，茶袋可加可不加。

For a 3 dollar cup of coffee, the farmer earns 3 cents.

This is the first title shown on "Black Gold" film trailer. But I believe the situation is worse than the words.I love coffee, and I just can't sit and watch the coffee kids dying of hunger, not mention they don't even have schooling.

Coffee Kids
Sidama, the coffee region grows starbucks' coffee. In 2006, kids here were hit by serious famine.
Starbucks claimed their cost of coffee bean has increased from $1.28/pl to $1.42/pl since 2005. If you use 7g of coffee beans for a cup of espresso, and you can make up to 80 cups of espresso with 1 pound coffee beans which cost only $1.42 per pound. The math is very easy here.

Coffee Mothers
We all know that best espresso beans are roasted by Italian.. but we may not know that best coffee beans are hand picked by these African women, and they are earning less than $0.5 per day.

Coffee Fathers
These coffee farmers were gathering to discuss how to use the profit they gain from fair trading. They decided to build a school, even the earning is not enough to build one.

I Live in Vancouver Surrey Gathering

Friends from internet forum "I live in Vancouver" had a nice potluck gathering on Sunday. Everybody brought the best dishes such as rice angel hair (rice noodle), stewed pork, Chile style spicy mussel, red-rice marinated pork, home-baked pizza, Tim Horton donuts, soft drinks , fruits, and so on... It is heart-warming to have real-life connections with people you met online.

I would like to address my special thanks to Mom and Dad, they started preparing for the party from days ago. Even I've told my mom that guests would bring their own dishes, she still prepared 4 dishes for the party.

學生稱呼她為簡老師，咖啡音的客人稱她杜媽媽，她是我們的媽媽，小朋友的奶奶。廿歲時媽媽在台灣油畫及素描大師李石樵門下學畫，當時她是台北雙園國小的老師，接連幾年她都參加了教師美展，而校方總是以相當於一個月的薪水把媽媽的畫買下，對當時年輕的她而言是很大的鼓勵。生活的忙碌使媽媽沒有時間作畫。直到1989年媽媽因為要幫忙照顧姐姐的大兒子而退休，她才終於重拾畫筆。1989-1996之間，媽媽最常畫的就是花和天母的街。移居溫哥華之後，媽媽開始比較有時間畫畫。班夫國家公園的景致、家門口的櫻花道、列治文的花園、甚至姐姐家屋頂上掛的一輪明月，都入了畫。決定開店之後，她畫了一系列和咖啡有關的油畫，咖啡音門口的景緻也是她寫生素描的對象。

咖啡音時代結束之後，媽媽再次當起老師。

早期跟隨李石樵大師的磨練，媽媽的深厚素描功力展現在油畫與淡彩之中。從媽媽的作品中可以看出不同時期的色彩表現，充滿厚實大地感的台北，粉彩明亮的溫哥華，原色森林的班夫國家公園。

媽媽的作品豐富，目前已經累積了數百張的油畫和淡彩，即使努力拍照整理還是趕不上媽媽的進度。我們會盡所能將作品一一呈現。讓大家無論遠近都可以欣賞北國風光。

Meilan, a teacher, a mother of 3, and a grandma of 4, had followed Taiwanese master Lee Shih-chiao study sketch and oil painting in her early years. As a young teacher, she constantly attended teachers' art campaigns and had won many prizes. The school authority always encouraged her with one month salary for her painting. It was an important support for this young lady 50 years ago, while Taiwan was still at early developing stage. However, the busy and hard life never allowed her to chase her art dream. Until 1989, Meilan retired from school after her first grandson was born, she got the chance to start painting again.

From 1989-1996, Meilan had work on subjects such as flowers, street of hometown Tienmu and Yang-ming Mountain. After moving to Vancouver (Surrey) in 1996, she was inspired by the splendid landscape in Canada. From Banff National Park, to Richmond Fisherman's Wharf and the sakura trees in Surrey, she fulfill her dream with hundreds of painting.

The family started a restaurant Cafe Andante in Surrey, and buildings around the store became Meilan's painting subjects. She has started to teach painting from the time.

Meilan established her sketching skills while studying with Master Lee Shih-chiao. Her color scheme has changed from the earthy tone in Taipei, to pastel Vancouver, to natural colored forests in Banff.We are trying to keep up with Meilan's steps and establish an online gallery for our dearest Mama.
