What would you consider the ideal staff room?

So, this was promted by a ? What is in your staff room?
My idea staff room would be a room with a sink, refrigerator, individual cup coffee/tea/hot cocoa maker, table and chairs, sofas, reading and eating lighting in a matching decor and psychologically pleasing color. I think every worker could benefit from a neck and shoulder massage and a catnap. So, private room for a catnap and a standy masseuse. 45 mintue lunch break and a fifteen minute break in the afternoon or morning, whichever is longest. Health snacks to boost energy and stave off hunger. The perfect staff room. The better the employees are cared for, the better they can care about their customers and their work!

Can you tell me how you would handle this Thanksgiving?

We are going to my mil's for dinner. My bil and sil and their families will be there. It's always tense because the bil has very little to do with his family to the point that we do not know their children well and visa versa. The youngest don't even know who we are. His wife is friendly when others are aroung but does not talk to me otherwise. For get togethers she traditionally sits somewhere and doesn't move, or get up to say hi. It's nine years of this and the last event, I decided to just have a nice time, not worry about where or what she was doing. Now, my bil doesn't say hello either. One of these siblings is always in the dog house and my MIL is the culprit IMO. She has a divide and conquer like behavior. I can't fix it or change it...I've tried. What do you recommend? I want to be comfortable in my own skin.

Would you take this as rude??

I feel kinda bad for thinking about throwing something at an old lady, but...I was at Wally World earlier in the makeup/skin care aisle. This nice looking older lady was in a motorized cart, and a lady was with her. They were discussing whether or not Equate was good or not. I said, "yeah, some stuff is just the same," cuz I use some Equate brand skin care. She said, "Oh, I'll trust you, cuz you have such a pretty complexion." I have gotten that compliment before. I'm 29 and I take care of my skin. Always have. I use sunscreen, and I stay out of the sun. No tanning beds, anything like that. I said thank you then she said, "I guess you've been too scared to get those moles removed, though." I just said yeah and hurried away. I am very self conscious about moles on my face. I have "beauty marks" by my mouth that don't bother me, but I have a big mole by my hair line that I hate. WTF lady...make me feel like sh*t.

What baby naming trend to you hate the most?

I'm SOOOOOOOO sick of all the names ending in -aidan, -ayden, -aiden, -aidyn (of any other spelling with the same pronunciation!) Aidan, Jayden, Hayden, Zaiden, Caiden, Brayden, etc.

I also hate double and triple middle names, unless they are two family names that you REALLY want to use, but there is still NO excuse for triple middle names! You kid doesn't need 5 names!

The last thing that annoys me is "unique" spellings for boring common names. I think the only way you could make the name Jennifer worse is to spell it Ginaphyr or something ridiculous like that. You've already cursed you kid with a boring popular name now you're going to make them have to spell it all the time? Sorry but it doesn't make it more unique, when you call little Emma or Aidan at the play ground 5 kids will still come running!

Weird question of the day! How do you teach a kid to use scissors??

My son scares me to death every time I try to teach him how to use scissors. I guess I just don't know how to explain it to him! He starts kindergarden next fall and they said he has to know how by then so I need pointers! Where can you buy those scissors that have no blade that are just plastic only? I have looked everywhere and can't find any. Did they stop making them or something? All I kind find is what they call safety scissors but that just means it is a curved instead of pointy tip which can still cut off fingers! Eeek help!

Does anyone cosleep without one of those box things?

My ds has been sleeping in my bed for part of the night because I fall asleep after nursing him and just leave him there. He sleeps better that way too, but if I was to get one of those boxes to make it "safe" he wouldn't sleep as well since he wouldn't be up against me.

So if you cosleep without one of those what precautions do you take to keep them safe? I don't roll in my sleep, but I'm worried about the pillows and blankets, which I obviously need to sleep with.

Why the big debate about adding to the defcit?

Incoming White House communications director Dan Pfeiffer just posted a blog item comparing health reform legislation to the Medicare prescription drug benefit passed under Republicans. For instance, he writes, the drug benefit increased the deficit by $395 billion while the reform cuts the deficit by $130 billion:

“Opponents of health insurance reform have spent hours on the Senate floor today attacking the Senate's efforts to provide stability and security for those with insurance, affordable coverage for those without, and lower costs for families, small businesses and the government. To provide a little perspective on these attacks, let’s compare today's legislation with the 2003 Medicare Part D effort, which many of these same critics supported.” –Chris Frates

my 9 year old has been complaining of chest pain, shortness of breath all day. he has a persistant cough also. but i didn't panic until i saw that he had threw up on tha floor in his room. so i called tha emergency after hours nurse and after answering a few questions she recommended that i take him in to the Panorama City Kaiser, emergency walk in. which is far from where i live. and even now as i ask this question tha chances of it being open when i get there are slim. however should i be concerned about it being swine flu even if his color is normal and he doesn't have a fever?
