Ian Ziering Welcomes Baby Daughter #2 on Daughter #1's Birthday

Post by Sheri Reed

Former '90210' star and up and coming Chippendales headliner Ian Ziering, 49, sent this touching tweet in the wee hours last night, as he basked in his new-dad-again glory and longed to share his girls with his late parents. Awww. Ziering and his wife Erin Ludwig welcomed their second daughter on April 25, and clearly Dad Ian is full of pride and love.

And here's the coolest part! Their new baby girl arrived on her older sister Mia Loren's second birthday. Yep, the two sisters share a birthday! How sweet is that?

Little Penna Mae Ziering arrived at 9:21am and weighed at 6 lbs., 9 oz. Penna's named for Ian’s late dad, Paul, and after her mom Erin, too. Mae is Erin's middle name, one passed down through four generations of women in her family.

As for celebrating the second April 25th birthday in a row, Ziering says, “We didn’t plan it! Mia was born a week late and Penna was a week early." Sounds like big sister is thrilled with her birthday present, too. "When she saw Penna she said, ‘Baby sister!’”

What a special thing -- sharing your birthday with your sister! Well, that is until they each turn 5 and they become totally pissed about having to share anything with anyone. LOL. Of course, I think, more often than not, it'll always be a really cool thing for them to share their special day.

Congratulations to Ian and Erin and Happy Birthdays to Mia and Penna!

Do you or your kids share their birthday with any family members?

8-Year-Old Girl's Fatal Stabbing in Her Own Home Prompts Manhunt (VIDEO)

Post by Sheri Reed

There is a complete horror story unfolding in my part of the country this morning. Police say a 8-year-old Northern California girl was stabbed to death in her own home around noon yesterday. What a completely terrifying and heartbreaking story. And it just gets worse!

Her 12-year-old brother apparently walked in on the intruder in their home when he called their parents. The parents then called 911 while the intruder reportedly ran away. There's at least one report that a neighbor told police they saw the same man running from the home. That's when, police say, the older brother checked on his younger sister and found she had been stabbed and suffered "very serious and severe injuries." The girl was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

According to the Calaveras County Sheriff and District Attorney’s Office, the homicide took place in a rural neighborhood in Valley Springs, CA. The suspect is described as a "White or Hispanic male, with longer gray hair, six foot tall, muscular build, last seen wearing a black long sleeved shirt and blue pants." He is considered armed and dangerous.

As of last night, police were doing door-to-door searches for this suspect, but there don't seem to be any breaks in this case yet this morning. There are no suspects in custody. The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office will hold an official press briefing at 3:00pm today to update information relating to the homicide investigation.

There are simply not enough details right now for us to even begin to start processing this horror story. All I know is that no child should ever have to endure such an atrocity of being stabbed to death or having to find one's sibling in such a state. The noon hour in one's own home should never be the setting for such terror and heartbreak.

See this video on The Stir by CafeMom.

If you live in Valley Springs or the neighboring communities and see someone matching the suspect’s description, report it immediately by calling 911 or calling the tip line at (209) 754-6030.

Our hearts and prayers go out to the family, especially the young brother, at this time. May the police find their suspect very soon.

UPDATE 5:10pm ET:

Authorities and the county coroner have identified the girl as 8-year-old Leila Fowler. Initially (and in the original version of this post), she was reported as being 9-years-old, but Coroner Kevin Raggio said Sunday Leila would have turned 9 in June.

Do you keep your doors locked at all times? Even around noon?

President Obama's Bangs and 11 Best Jokes From the White House Correspondents' Dinner 2013 (VIDEO)

Post by Sheri Reed

Jay-Z and Beyonce were not at the White House Correspondents' Dinner last night (and neither was Lindsay Lohan so simmer down, Tom Brokaw), but that doesn't mean there's nothing fun to report. Come for the jokes. Stay for the jokes, people. President Obama and host Conan O'Brien brought lots of chuckles last night with their joke lineups, one the best being the hilarity of Obama's fashion bangs. LOL!

Here are the funniest jokes you missed if you didn't tune in last night (and seriously, who did?).

Best of President Obama's jokes:

After walking in to Rapper DJ Khaled's "All I Do is Win," Obama joked, "How do you like my new entrance music? Rush Limbaugh warned you about this. Second term, baby!"

More From Our Partners: 10 Best Dressed Celebs at the White House Dinner

After talking about the First Lady Michelle Obama's favorable ratings in the polls and her great sense of style, he said,"These days I look in the mirror, and I have to admit I'm not the strapping young Muslim Socialist that I used to be."

Then came the jokes about trying some of Michelle's tricks -- bangs! LOLOLOL!

“I’ve got 99 problems and now Jay-Z’s one of them," Obama remarked regarding the whole Beyonce and Jay-Z in Cuba vacation controversy.

“Maureen Dowd said I could solve all of my problems if I was just more like Michael Douglass in ‘The American President.’ I know Michael’s here tonight. Michael, what’s your secret? Could it be that you were an actor in an Aaron Sorkin liberal fantasy?”

Then came a few of the best rips on the press.

"I know CNN has taken some knocks lately but the fact is, I admire their commitment to covering all sides of the story, just in case one of them happens to be accurate.”

“David Axelrod now works for MSNBC, which is a nice change of pace, since MSNBC used to work for David Axelrod.”

“The History Channel is not here…guess they were embarrassed about the whole ‘Obama is a devil‘ thing.” Of course, that's never kept FOX News from showing up. They actually thought the comparison was not fair ... to Satan."

Nice shoutout to BuzzFeed. “I remember when BuzzFeed was something I did in college around 2 A.M.”

This one was hilarious! "Do you remember a few months ago?" the President asked. "My administration put out a photo of me going skeet shooting at Camp David. Quite a number of people insisted that this had been Photoshopped... You were right. Can we show them the actual photo? We were just trying to tone it down a little bit."

Here's the photo:

“My job is to be president. [The media's] job is to keep me humble. Frankly, I think I’m doing my job better."

Here's the President Obama's full monologue if you'd like to watch:

See this video on The Stir by CafeMom.

And here's all of Conan O'Brien's lineup for your viewing pleasure:

See this video on The Stir by CafeMom.

Teenager Harry Styles and Kimberly Stewart Dating Because Raising One Kid Isn't Enough for Her?!!

Post by Sheri Reed

So it's been confirmed, folks. One Direction singer Harry Styles, 19, and Rod Stewart's daughter Kimberly, 33, really are the latest hot Hollywood couple. And by "confirmed," of course, we mean by "sources." That's right. A source confirmed to E! News that Harry and Kimberly are indeed hot and heavy and "very happy" together.

We're all pondering how ex Taylor Swift is taking the news. However, what I'm thinking, as a mom looking in, is how Kimberly, mom to 20-month-old Delilah Genoveva (whose dad is actor Benicio del Toro) is: Yo Kimberly, do you really need another KID right now? I mean, a 19-year-old boy -- aren't they actually more work than a toddler? What the hell is she thinking?

I've been out of the dating scene for ions, but I can still remember dating 19-year-old boys and that was way before I ever knew the tough stuff of parenthood. Generally speaking, teen-aged boys are incapable of cleaning up after themselves, helpless in matters of adult life and real emotional connection, and throw a lot of weird fits about stupid crap. To be clear, teen-aged girls are only mildly better, but a teen-aged boy, especially one who has not been fast-tracked into adulthood by becoming a dad himself, has got to be the worst kind of partner for a young mom.

Odds are Kimberly is still knee-deep in diapers and sippy cups and whining and temper tantrums and plenty of sleep-interrupted nights at home. What does she need with this kid who can't even pull up his own pants or comb his own hair? Not to mention all the screaming teenagers that come with dating Harry. Ugh. Sounds like a frickin' nightmare.

I give this new coupling one month before Mama Kimberly is like, OH HELL NO.

Let her get the starry-eyed, young famous guy ego-boost thing out of her system, and then she's going to be like: GET THE EFF OUT! AIN'T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT!

Can you imagine raising a toddler and dating a teenager at the same time?

Second Arrest in Ricin Letter Case: Martial Arts Instructor, NOT Elvis Impersonator

Everett Dutschke" width="344" height="239" />A second arrest has been made in connection to the ricin-laced letters mailed to President Obama and two others. The FBI arrested Martial Arts Instructor J. Everett Dutschke in Tupelo, Mississippi early this morning. Let's hope this time they got their man! We just don't need an unsolved domestic terrorism case in America right now.

This arrest is the second in the ricin letter case. The first suspect was Elvis impersonator Paul Kevin Curtis who declared his innocence from the beginning and was later released for insufficient evidence. However, it was Curtis who first named Dutschke. Apparently, the two had been feuding for years. Yes, the Elvis impersonator believes he was framed by the Martial Arts instructor.

I knew it wasn't the Elvis impersonator!

Stranger things have happened, I suppose, but when Curtis's arrest went down, I just couldn't believe an Elvis impersonator could be behind the ricin letters. It just didn't sit right with me. I mean, delicately and vindictively lacing letters with ricin by day but hip swiveling in a jumpsuit to "I'm All Shook Up" by night? WHAT? I realize I'm completely stereotyping here, but aren't Elvis impersonators all about making people happy?

Alright fine, fine -- this recently arrested Micky King guy really screws up my theories about the good nature of Elvis impersonators. But you can dig what I'm saying, right?

Anyway, I'm not going to get into Martial Arts instructors and how that may or may not work alongside a ricin plot. Let me just say I really hope the FBI got it right this time. This country could really use a sigh of relief in one ongoing terrorism case right now.

See this video on The Stir by CafeMom.

How do you think this ricin letter case is going to play out?

Cory Monteith Completes Rehab But He Has an Uphill Battle From Here

Post by Sheri Reed

'Glee' star Cory Monteith is free again! 28 days of rehab completed. Check! Back into the arms of ever-supportive girlfriend Lea Michele. Check! Clean and sober. Check! (Of course, that's just a hope and assumption on my part.) Now it's smooth sailing and happy days forever, right? Well, not really. As any sober person can tell you, the days following rehab or the first month in a 12-step program are grueling for an addict. However, they're nothing compared to the 30 days that follow.

Will Cory Monteith make it? Does he have what it takes to stay clean and sober this time?

Only Cory Monteith knows the answer to that question, but quite frankly, most alcoholics/addicts can't even begin to answer that question about themselves. I've been sober for 12 years (that's right, not even so much as a wine spritzer in 12 long years!!!) and I'm still a slave to my disease. You have to remain vigilant for, well, for pretty much ever or it'll get you. The disease may seem like it's gone away, but it's just lying dormant under the surface, and it wants to live.

Monteith has been open about his past history with drugs and alcohol. He entered rehab at age 19 and managed to turn his life around long enough to build an acting career and land the Glee gig at age 27. Not bad for an alky/drug addict, huh? Of course, last month we found out that some remnants of the disease still lingered when Monteith checked himself into rehab for "substance abuse." We don't know if he was drinking or using again or had formed some kind of dependence on prescription drugs or what? But we do know he felt the need to be vigilant again. Whatever he was doing wasn't working.

That's the good news. He knew enough to get help AND he got help. Now if he can push through this first 30 days in the real world without picking up a drink or popping a pill, he'll be that much better off. Super proud of him. And from one alky to another, I'm sending my best for the long, wild ride ahead.

And coming home to this kind of love and support definitely doesn't hurt:

Are you rooting for Cory Monteith and his sobriety?

FBI Releases Photos of 2 Suspects in Boston Marathon Bombing Case (VIDEO)

Post by Sheri Reed

Emotions are no doubt running high in Boston and across the country this afternoon and early evening, as moments ago, the FBI released photos and video footage of not one but TWO suspects in the Boston Marathon bombing.

Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Boston Field Office Richard DesLauriers just wrapped up a very short press briefing, in which they displayed the photos of two young men wearing black backpacks and baseball caps (Suspect 1 in a dark hat; Suspect 2 in a white hat). Suspect 1 is also wearing sunglasses. According to the FBI, they appear to be "associated," and Suspect 2 set down his backpack at the site of the second explosion in front of the Forum restaurant moments before the blast.

DesLauriers asked that everyone in the media and community share these photos in order to help with the FBI's investigation.

So please, take a look.

And a little larger:

Plus the video footage:

See this video on The Stir by CafeMom.

If you have information on either of these two suspects pictured, contact agents at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324).

According to DesLauriers, these men are still only suspects in the attacks, which killed an 8-year-old boy and 2 adults and injured more than 150 people. However, the men should still be considered armed and dangerous. If you know or have seen these men, contact law enforcement immediately. "Do not approach them. Do not take any action on your own," he warned.

Things seem to be moving along rather quickly, but only time will tell if we're on the right track and if justice will soon be served in this case.

Are you shocked by these photos? How long do you think it will be before they locate these men?

6 Robert Pattinson Movies You Never Knew Existed (PHOTOS)

Post by Sheri Reed

There was no Robert Pattinson, THE ACTOR, before Twilight, right? Oh wait, we all know he had that tiny recurring role as Cedric in Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire and Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix. But nothing else, right? Wrong. Rob had a pretty prolific filmography before he became the beloved Edward Cullen. Before he scored his breakout role of America's favorite vampire, Rob played a range of characters with a range of hairstyles. And how did it take me this long to find out Rob has a man on man love scene on his resume?!!

I have to warn you, though, these movie promo pics may do a number on your monster crush on Robert Pattinson. I mean, no matter what Rob does, he's pretty, but hair and wardrobe can really mess with this man's HOT factor. In a big way. So expect that you might feel a little confused, at the very least, about your feelings for Robert Pattinson after tromping through his eccentric movie past.

Have you seen any of these more obscure Robert Pattinson films? If not, do you want to now?

'American Horror Story' Season 3 Spoilers: Something Witchy This Way Comes

Post by Sheri Reed

So if you're reading this, it must mean you made it through American Horror Story: Asylum (aka season 2) and you're still glutton for more eerie, twisted, often stomach-churning excitement from Ryan Murphy and friends. By the way, what's wrong with you? How in the hell did you make it through season 2? The dismembered (but alive) bodies and that homicidal Santa and maybe the most fuh-reaky, sick serial killer ever. Something is totally wrong with you (and me too -- hugs!).

Our sick minds aside, lots of season 3 spoilers are emerging -- beyond the brillz news that the amazing Kathy Bates is joining the show. But WILL YOU DARE? Can you really handle another season of this show?

SPOILER ALERT. Stop reading now if you don't want to know what we know. Because we know a lot!

Here's what we know so far about what to expect in season 3.

Season 3 will be called: American Horror Story: Coven.
As you probably guessed from the title, witches be coming! We don't know who and we don't know how many make a coven, but there will be witches.
The show will be set in several locations, including the always haunted city of New Orleans.
Jessica Lange and Kathy Bates will be together in a "lot of scenes" and "going at it." Pretty sure Murphy means they'll be fighting, not, you know, GOING AT IT in a sexytimes way. But hey, with this show, you never frickin' know (Tami Taylor does Rubber Man ... enough said).
"Female power" is the theme of the season. I'm scared.
This season's "Rubber Man" and "Bloody Face" will be a woman! Oh god, is it Kathy Bates? Scared.
Murphy says Bates' character is "cuckoo-for-Cocoa-Puffs" -- OMG, what does that meeeeeeeeeeean?
Several of our favorite cast members from seasons 1 and 2 will be returning, presumably as all new characters again, in season 3, including Jessica Lange (Constance and Sister Jude), Frances Conroy (Moira and the Angel of Death), Sarah Paulson (Billie Dean and Lana), Evan Peters (Tate and Kit), and Lily Rabe (Nora and Sister Mary Eunice). Even Naomi Grossman (Pepper) will be back!
Also under consideration, a vampire-themed American Horror Story. What?! Yep, Murphy mentions it, but then says, "I can't talk about it." Tease!
American Horror Story: Coven will premiere this fall on FX.

OMG, these answers only spur a million more questions. What kind of witches are we talking about here -- like Charmed witches? No, no, no, of course not ... Maybe like True Blood witches? Will Jessica Lange be a witch? Will Kathy Bates? What kind of twisted female monster can we expect (wait, don't answer that one; I'm too scared to know!)? Will Evan Peters return to being evil (a la Tate) or stay good (a la Kit)? Will Dylan McDermott (Ben and Johnny) make another surprise appearance? What about Zachary Quinto (Chad and Dr. Thredson)? He's gotta return, right?

Are you looking forward to season 3 of American Horror Story?

Happy 21st Birthday Taylor Lautner: 12 Reasons to Whoop It Up Today! (VIDEO)

Post by Sheri Reed

Our sweet-faced Taylor Lautner is 21 years old today?!? Hard to believe he was just 16 when Twilight premiered. They just grow up so fast ... sigh.

Now Taylor, we know you're a workout fiend and have always come out as drug and alcohol free, but it's officially legal for you to have yourself a cocktail now. There's no harm in celebrating your 21st birthday with a beer or a nice wine spritzer. So go ahead. God knows you have lots to celebrate above and beyond this milestone birthday too! No, I'm serious! You do!

But just in case you're having trouble coming up with a reason to celebrate (or you're too busy doing crunches), we've come up with a nice list of 12 reasons for you.

Oh, Taylor go ahead and have a celebratory birthday drink today because ...

1. It’s legal now.

2. You’re certainly rich enough to hire a designated driver.

3. You’re certainly rich.

4. Twilight is FRICKIN' OVER and you never ever have to revisit that whole awkward Renesmee thing again.

5. I would say drink because Abduction was so so bad but no one remembers that movie anyway. Why drudge up the past?

6. You have two new movies (two!!!) in the works. Let the countdown to Grown Ups 2 (2013) and Tracers (2014) begin! Plus, the IMDB page for Gus Van Sant still lists an "Untitled Taylor Lautner Project," so crossing fingers for your big breakout role there.

7. You work HAAAAARD for those abs. So hard I bet you can do situps while hanging upside down! Wait, can you ... ?!

8. Have a drink today because Kristen Stewart LIIIIIIIIIED (and how could she??? after all you've been through???).

9. Robert Pattinson is more famouser than you even though Edward was a controlling douche and Jacob was hot and a wonderfully witty smart ass.

10. Eleven years later, this little 10-year-old sweetheart still lives inside you.

11. You’re certainly rich.

12. On second thought, don't get drunk. We love you just the way you are. Happy birthday, Taylor!

See this video on The Stir by CafeMom.

Help celebrate Taylor Lautner's big day by sharing what you love most about him.

Jodie Foster 'Comes Out' at Golden Globes and Gets Seriously Personal About Private Things (VIDEO)

Post by Sheri Reed

The most tear-jerking and moving Golden Globes speech of the night undoubtedly goes to actress Jodie Foster, who was being honored tonight with the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement. If you didn't see the speech firsthand, I'm sure you heard about it or will umpteen times over. Because whoah. (And can we talk about how this woman doesn't age, too?)

While Foster's speech came off a little odd and ranty in places, I think she really got to the heart of many amazingly private things (strangely, all while ranting about her right to privacy). It was definitely a hankie moment for me and several of the stars in the audience. Even Tina Fey and Amy Poehler closed the show saying, "Thank you very much. We're going home with Jodie Foster."

Things got a smidge weird right off the bat when Foster switched from thanking all the appropriate people to saying, "I'm single" after a bunch of teasery that she was going to "officially" come out. This comment made me squirm on my couch for her longtime partner and co-mom Cydney Bernard until I realized it was just an awkward joke setup ... with some good intentions behind it. Right? That's what it was?

More from The Stir: 5 Golden Globe Dresses We Love & 5 We'd Rather Forget (PHOTOS)

Because then Jodie said she was kidding about the single thing and shared, "I already did my coming out about a thousand years ago back in the Stone Age" and explained how she had actually come out more privately, "in those very quaint days when a fragile young girl would open up to trusted friends and family and co-workers and then gradually, proudly to everyone who knew her, to everyone she actually met." Yes, Jodie, yes!!! That's exactly how we hoped it was for you but never knew for sure.

Insert the angry rant about privacy ("Privacy. Some day, in the future, people will look back and remember how beautiful it once was") and fast forward a bit to some extraordinary and poignant words about her 47 years (!!!) of being an actor and making movies and about her family including Cydney and their two sons, Charlie, 14, and Kit, 11, who were sitting sweet and so grown up in the audience.

And just when we thought we knew where she was headed, another unexpected turn, as Foster thanked her mom Brandy Foster, her longtime manager who reportedly suffers from dementia, in the most private, heart-wrenching way, saying:

This brings me to the greatest influence of my life, my amazing mother, Evelyn. Mom, I know you’re inside those blue eyes somewhere and that there are so many things that you won’t understand tonight. But this is the only important one to take in: I love you, I love you, I love you. And I hope that if I say this three times, it will magically and perfectly enter into your soul, fill you with grace and the joy of knowing that you did good in this life. You’re a great mom. Please take that with you when you’re finally OK to go.

Holy shit.

And then the beautiful grand finale, which hinted at more directing and perhaps a lot less or even no more acting:

I will continue to tell stories, to move people by being moved, the greatest job in the world. It’s just that from now on, I may be holding a different talking stick. And maybe it won’t be as sparkly, maybe it won’t open on 3,000 screens, maybe it will be so quiet and delicate that only dogs can hear it whistle. But it will be my writing on the wall. Jodie Foster was here, I still am, and I want to be seen, to be understood deeply, and to be not so very lonely.

Wow, Jodie may not have chosen to make a B-line to the Award Show Speech Hall of Fame, but I think she got there. She meandered a bit, but she got there to the places that are most important. Our hearts. Thanks, Jodie!

Watch Jodie Foster's speech here for yourself:

What did you think of Jodie's speech tonight? Did it move you more than confuse you?

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart Aren't Attending the People's Choice Awards and We Know Why

Post by Sheri Reed

So tomorrow night's the night where WE THE PEOPLE finally get to have our say -- it's the People's Choice Awards, of course! However, if you're only tuning in hoping for a glimpse of your favorite formerly known as vampires couple Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, um, think again. There is absolutely NO WAY these two are going to be caught dead at this awards show. NO WAY. Wanna know why?

Well, it's not because Kristen wasn't nominated. Because she was! (It might very well be because Robert Pattinson wasn't. Because he wasn't. And he's probably all "Eff that awards show that didn't love how I shot my own hand in Cosmopolis.") Kristen, on the other hand, got three nominations. Snow White & the Huntsman is up for Favorite Movie, and Kristen herself is up for the Favorite Face of Heroism and for Favorite On-Screen Chemistry with director Rupert Sanders co-star Chris Hemsworth for her performance in Snow White.

See the problem now?

Here's a hint: It starts with Snow White and ends with some gnarly memories of a certain someone lip smashing in the front seat of a car with her married director. Yes, that happened and they've clearly moved on, but that doesn't mean the wounds aren't just as painful today.

More from The Stir: Robert Pattinson & Kristen Stewart Are Buying a Home in London & Here’s the 411

While Robert Pattinson is probably a little bit mad no one recognized his amazing hand-shooting scene and a lot a bit mad that he didn't even get one measly sympathy vote (SHE cheated on ME, people! Where is the love?!!), he probably got the PCA invitation in the mail and was like, “I WILL HAVE NO PART IN ANYTHING ABOUT THAT FRICKIN’ GODDAMN SNOW &$%@-ing WHITE MOVIE!!!”

And Kristen's like, "Okay, Rooooob. I got it!" while secretly wiping sweat from her brow because can you imagine her acceptance speech? "You guyssssss, thank you for choosing me. Shucks, that's so totally awesome. And I'd really like to thank my director for trusting me in this role and helping me look hecka cool and badass and for making me feel more like a woman that one sunny day in that car than Robward ever did in that flowery meadow in Twilight, ok? I mean, did you see those vampire sex scenes? Puh-lease."

Yikes. Not good. Not good at all. It's really best that neither one of them is attending. It would be way too awkward for Rob and for Kristen and, heck, for us too. As much as we love seeing this duo out canoodling on the red carpet, no one wants to see that awkward mess!

Why do you think Rob and Kristen are skipping out on the People's Choice Awards tonight?

New Year's Eve 2013 TV Lineup: Specials to Watch and Celebs to See

Post by Sheri Reed

Well, New Year's Eve 2013 officially marks our first without Dick Clark in four decades. Although Clark had given over most his NYE hosting duties to Ryan Seacrest after his 2004 stroke anyway, this year we're going to get a real taste of Seacrest solo at the reigns. Of course, Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest and the annual Times Square ball drop isn't your only option for New Year's Eve TV viewing, celebrity sightings, and musical performances. There's lots of good stuff to see so get ready to channel surf or set the DVR.

Here's the New Year's Eve television lineup. Find out where you can watch Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Honey Boo Boo, Ke$ha, Snooki & JWoww, Ne-Yo, Fergie, Jimmy Fallon, and more, as they ring in the New Year!

More from The Stir: 2013 Times Square Ball Drop: All the Ways to Watch It on New Year's Eve (VIDEOS)

Happy Birthday, Ryan Gosling: 32 Reasons to Love Him So (PHOTOS)

Post by Sheri Reed

The talented and beautiful Ryan Gosling turns 32 today! Just 32 years young, can you believe it? Happy Birthday, Ryan.

Not sure how we all got so lucky to get to be walking on a planet that's repeatedly showered (omg, showered ... Ryan Gosling ... gulp!) in Ryan Gosling films, which also means lots of Ryan Gosling sightings and press events and red carpet premieres, and, of course, the films themselves. After all, Ryan is not only my #1 crush, but he's also one of my favorite actors. He can act! He can really act! God bless America!

So let's celebrate a happy 32 and a happy 32 more with an ode to Ryan Gosling. 32 reasons that we love him so!

1. Ryan Gosling is the real deal and baby, he was born this way.

2. He was a Mouseketeer! With Justin Timberlake!

3. He's playing it totally cool about the Christian Grey role. He knows it's in the bag if he wants it.

4. The man has inspired his very own Ryan Gosling manicure.

5. Swoon. He plays piano!

6. He declined an offer to audition for the Backstreet Boys but decided to pursue acting instead. Brilliant move!

7. RyGos's viral alter ego is a feminist (and now a book too).

8. He inspired the most brilliant political meme of the 2012 Election: Paul Ryan Gosling.

9. Ryan Gosling saves lives, for goodness sake! (Save me!)

10. His danger fantasies are hot.

11. He has a fine appreciation for older women. As he should. (Call me!)

12. He has personally inspired an impressive number of Tumblr sites.

13. Even though we're jealous of his girlfriend Eva Mendes. It's nice to believe Ryan is no commitment-phobe. I love how he held her hand at the Toronto International Film Festival.

14. Four words: Ryan Gosling Coloring Book.

15. One of my favorite movies in the world: Lars & the Real Girl. Such a good film.

See this video on The Stir by CafeMom.

16. His next film Gangster Squad, which had to be reworked after the Aurora shootings, is due out in January 2013.

17. We'll soon get to see Ryan interacting with real-life girlfriend Eva Mendes in their new film, The Place Beyond the Pines, which is set to hit theaters in March 2013. He's playing a new dad on the cusp of turning criminal to support his wife and kid. Swoon!

18. Ryan had to learn Muay Thai (a kickboxing-like combat sport in Thailand) for his role as a British gangster living in Bangkok. The film is titled Only God Forgives and also comes out next year.

19. Hey girl, Ryan's a writer and director now, too. How to Catch a Monster, which also stars Christina Hendricks, is due out in 2014. Director Ryan. Mmmhmm. (Direct me!)

20. There's more, too. He's also been spotted on the set of Terrence Malick's new film smooching and slow dancing with co-star and Girl With the Dragon Tattoo star Rooney Mara. All I've heard is love triangles in Austin, TX (I'm in!). No word on when that'll be out.

21. Clearly, this man is unstoppable! Keep 'em coming, Ryan!

Reasons 22-32 shall be revealed in photos. Obviously. Sure, it's Ryan's birthday but now it'll feel like your birthday too! Enjoy!

Why do you love Ryan Gosling?

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson Talk Kids -- Are They Ready for Their Own? (PHOTOS)

Post by Sheri Reed

Alright, don't get TOO excited. Yes, Kristen and Rob talked kids at The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 press conference recently. Rob loves them. Kristen even expressed wanting some of her own. But let's allow them to get used to their second dog -- and, you know, each other for a little while longer before we push the parenting idea on them.

Oh, what am I talking about? Let's go ahead and think about it. What ... if ...??? Sigh ...

Well, while we had Rob and Kristen in the room the other day, we asked them about kids (oh yes, we did). And we got some whopper answers from both of them, as well as from the Twilight series author Stephenie Meyer, who got to watch them play Renesmee's parents on set long enough to have an opinion about it.

Well, Rob and Kristen aren't parents (yet), but how well did they play them in the Twilight finale? Stephenie Meyer, mom of three, was impressed:

For people who had never been parents, they were impressive. Before we even got to set, Kristen had already put herself in that mindset. She and Mackenzie [Foy] had a really great relationship. She would go to Bill [Condon] all the time and say, "I should be looking at Renesmee in this scene. I should be focused. I need to be oriented around her."

Kristen was the mother bear. She was such a protective, all-consumed kind of mother. I thought that came through really well. And Rob, the easy-going dad ... Whenever they were together in scene, he and Mackenzie were laughing about something. It was really, really sweet.

Sounds promising, huh? But let's see what Rob himself had to say about stepping into the fatherhood role for Breaking Dawn 2.

I quite like working with kids and animals, which everyone says you shouldn't do, because it makes you feel like you’re not acting -- as soon as you have someone who’s providing stuff to react to. Especially working with a baby. It’s great. I would say, put a dog or a baby in every scene -- everyone’s gonna do better ... And if they’re not better, just shoot the dog [laughs].

Um, what the??? Hmmm, I'm not sure Rob is really there yet. What do you think? He followed that doozy up by saying, "They've got some good baby actors." Oh, Rob.

Kristen, on the other hand, had some serious passion in those green eyes of hers when she talked about playing mama Bella and about motherhood in general:

It was one of my favorite things about the story from Day 1. There was never enough about [motherhood] in the script for me, and luckily Stephenie has been really involved in this last one especially. She was on set every day. It's something that we were really together about. It was one aspect of [Bella] that I was most excited to play. Vampires have a slightly more animalistic nature. Perfect for it. What better way to show THAT. I have a great relationship with my mom and she can be a bit feral when it comes to being a mom. I think that's what it is.

Wow, she liked it. She really liked it. So is she ready to be a mom? And if so, when? "I can't wait to be a mom ..." Kristen said (!!!). "But I can wait."

Well said. Well said.

Are you excited to see Kristen and Rob play parents in Breaking Dawn 2?

We were beyond elated to attend the The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 press conference recently, where we got extremely up close and personal with Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner, as well as Kellan Lutz (Emmett), Elizabeth Reaser (Esme), Nikki Reed (Rosalie), Jackson Rathbone (Jasper), and Michael Sheen (Aro). OF COURSE, we wish YOU had been there with us but since you couldn't be there, we've got lots of goodies lined up to share.

Today some super hot photos from the event, along with some of the best sound bites you missed from the interviews. Some of the quotes from the Twilight cast are hilarious while others are poignant (I'm looking at you Michael Sheen!), but all of them are Twi-licious. If you're a fan, then you're going to love them! Take a look.

So OF COURSE, we jumped at the chance to attend the film’s press conference on Thursday in Los Angeles. And OF COURSE, we also got there crazy early to get up close and personal with Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner (not in their laps … BUT CLOSE!) and talk about the final installment of the Twilight series. Also in attendance, Kellan Lutz (Emmett), Elizabeth Reaser (Esme), Nikki Reed (Rosalie), Jackson Rathbone (Jasper), and Michael Sheen (Aro), author Stephenie Meyer, and director Bill Condon. Peter Facinelli (Carlisle) and Ashley Greene (Alice) couldn’t make the press event due to Hurricane Sandy delays.

The best part? Kristen, Rob, and Taylor all gave solo interviews so we could really have a chance to hear intimately from each star. And boy did we hear (and see) some good stuff on many topics, including the making of the new film, the behind-the-scenes hijinks and shenanigans, personal reflections on the wild ride of the past four years, and much more. It was like Twilight-Palooza for a Twilight fan.

Maya Angelou Doesn't Email Spam for Obama, She Emails Poetry (QUOTES)

Post by Sheri Reed

Today I got an email from one of the most inspirational women I have ever had the privilege of being in a room with -- poet, educator, historian, best-selling author, and civil-rights activist Dr. Maya Angelou. Oh, yes I did. Okay, so she didn't just email me. She emailed Barack Obama's reelection campaign mailing list, but I'm so glad she did! Who in this mad mad world can't use a little Maya magic on a slow-going Wednesday afternoon?

I know you're dying to know what she had to say, and I'm going to share with you some of the best quotes from Maya's letter. First, however, I must say I have no idea what kind of human beings whine about getting this kind of email, from this kind of woman. And how dare they call it spam. This woman is a poet! She can't be bought. She lives and speaks from her heart. It's true. And spam and Maya Angelou have nothing in common.

Today's poem? Don't hesitate. Don't regret. Vote. Ah, it's already sweet music to my ears.

Best Quotes From Maya Angelou's Letter, dated October 24, 2012:

1. I am not writing to you as a black voter, or a woman voter, or as a voter who is over 70 years old and six feet tall. I am writing to you as a representative of this great country -- as an American.

2. It is your job to vote. It is your responsibility, your right, and your privilege.

3. You may be pretty or plain, heavy or thin, gay or straight, poor or rich. But remember this: In an election, every voice is equally powerful -- don't underestimate your vote. Voting is the great equalizer.

4. As a country, we can scarcely perceive the magnitude of our progress. My grandmother and my uncle experienced circumstances that would break your heart. When they went to vote, they were asked impossible questions like, "How many angels can dance on the head of a pin?" When they couldn't answer, they couldn't vote.

5. So don't sit on the sidelines. Don't hesitate. Don't have any regrets. Vote.

Thank you, Maya! Your email made my day.

Did you get this bit of poetry from Maya Angelou in your inbox today? Did it bother you?

Natalie Portman Shows Cleavage at UT Game and the Web Comes Unhinged (PHOTO)

Post by Sheri Reed

It's been a little over a year since Natalie Portman gave birth to little Aleph and about two since the web has really thought about the actress in "that way." Well, the respect-a-new-mom break is over and the brigade of oglers who use terms like "MILF" were unleashed tonight when the cameras at the Texas vs. Baylor game panned on Ms. Portman in all her low-cut lace top glory. Um, even my eyes boinked out a little when I took a glimpse. Hello, mama Natalie! Looking gorgeous to the max.

Check out the reactions Portman was getting on the web tonight. Let's just say everyone stopped talking about football and Ryan Gosling and Michael Fassbender (who were also reportedly at the UT game) for a good long while to talk about (and drool over) OHMYGOD Natalie.

Wow, she is dressed a little sexier than usual. But then again, I've never run into Natalie Portman at a college football game. Maybe this is how she dresses for those. She's looking pretty amazing, I must say. But mostly I'm cracking up at how Twitter became completely unhinged at the sight of her. Her name even became a trending topic for awhile.

Texas Humor ‏@TexasHumor

Whoa, did yall see Natalie Portman at the UT game?

OurDailyBears ‏@OurDailyBears

Can we put the camera back on Natalie Portman when Baylor gets back on defense?

Johnny A. ‏@The_Johnny

Regardless of the outcome in the #Texas vs #Baylor game, the real winners are anyone who got close enough to Natalie Portman to smell her.

Tim Ogletree ‏@timogle12

Every time Baylor airs it out they need to cut to Natalie Portman on Godzillatron. She's our best defense

Cork Gaines ‏@CorkGaines

PIC: Natalie Portman is in Austin, and...OH MY GOD!

Male Pains ‏@MalePains

I'm not married to Natalie Portman. #MalePains

Michael Briggs ‏@mikey478

Best part of the UT Baylor game? Seeing Natalie Portman. Girl looked goood.

And don't miss the lovely Natalie Portman GIF going around.

'American Horror Story: Asylum' Premiere Is Just as Twisted and Freaky as Season 1

Post by Sheri Reed

Oh wow, where to begin with the Season 2 premiere of American Horror Story: Asylum. Creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk are two seriously twisted dudes and thank god cause it's making for some really creepy must-see TV. In just one episode, they manage to squeeze in terrifying aliens, a repressed, power-hungry nun with a closet full of whipping paraphernalia, and all the drippy, dank asylum details of your worst nightmares, including horrifyingly disfigured characters, mind-jolting loony bin torture tools and apparatuses, and one psychopath doctor who should be admitted to the asylum, not treating patients there.

Oh and that's not all. Not by a long shot. There are lots more shiver-inducing and completely shocking moments in the season premiere that will blow your mind.

SPOILER ALERT. Will be discussing details of the show. If you don't want to know more about it, stop reading.

How does Murphy do it (yeah, this is the same guy who does Glee, for godssake)? First off, I'm hooked even after he started AHS over in Season 2 with a whole new plotline and all new characters. Who does that? And I don't even miss Season 1 anymore. I'm totally on board. Second, he manages to delve into our scariest dreams and tap our worst fears and fill his show with them all. I know some of you tough gals are going to say you weren't scared, big deal, blah blah. But I'm going to beat you to the punch and tell you that you're a bunch of sickos if this stuff doesn't bother you, and I swear to God I'm not wrong about that. And big big kudos to Murphy for also pushing the sexual and social to the max, managing to get in nymphos and nun lust while also tackling 1960s issues like biracial marriage and closeted homosexuality. Holy moley, no easy feat.

Of course, I'd be remiss not to talk about, um, JESSICA FRICKIN' LANGE as Sister Jude, the brutal head nun at Briarcliff. Lange is back in full force with a fervor so dark and layered, we're almost like Constance who? And who didn't adore her portrayal of Constance in Season 1? God, she's good. Also, earning a nod already -- Evan Peters (last season's Tate) as the framed "serial killer" Kit Walker and Sarah Paulsen (last season's medium) as concerned journalist (and closeted lesbian) Lana Winters. These two stood out for me among a large and stellar cast.

Of course, hottie Adam Levine appeared in a very sexy turned bloody opener with Jenna Dewan. Yeow, that "injection"! Oh my. Levine came off almost boyish at times, which was still pretty damn sexy, but sadly, we saw more of his lean, well-inked bod in that one music video he did. Chloe Sevigny is also on board as Shelley, and I generally LOVE her, but I have to say, in this role so far, she has to be the most unsexy nymphomaniac ever. Not sure yet if that's "on purpose" but it felt like a letdown to me.

So what's next? So many questions to be answered! Is James Cromwell's Dr. Arden the Nazi character that Murphy's been teasing us about? Who or what hungry flesheaters are living out in those woods -- former patients, WTF? Will Kit and Lana ever escape? And what about Bloody Face, this season's Rubber Man and pretty damn scary to look at? Is he what becomes of Kit after Dr. Arden gets his sick hands on him? Can't wait to find out!

What did you think of the premiere? Do you like Asylum as much as the first season of American Horror Story?

You Know You Grew Up Before the Internet Was Invented When ... (PHOTOS)

Post by Sheri Reed

My boys have lots of age-appropriate tech devices, can set the DVR by themselves, and know about the latest viral YouTube videos before I do. But sometimes I worry I am ruining them with technology. What are all these "convenience tools" doing to their "sponge-like" kid brains? Squelching their innate talents? Robbing them of the glory that comes from good old-fashioned benign neglect and boredom?

When I think back to my childhood, spent pretending my bike was a horse and making eraser people, I do think my kids are getting a little screwed. We had no technology (unless you count Lite Brite); we had to learn to make do. We were boredom survivors. Some of our best days revolved around playing House (the only one left standing in a nuclear war) and making great duct tape things, which we then sold to strangers from mom's card table. It was a wonderful time. Life's answers weren't a Google search away, and we, no doubt, came out brighter (briter?) because of it. Didn't we?

Let's take a quick look at childhood before and after the Internet was invented, and you decide. Who's screwed the least -- the techy kids of today or us non-techy kids of yesterday?

What 'Robert Pattinson' Is Really Thinking About Kristen Stewart (PHOTOS)

Post by Sheri Reed

Gosh, there have been so many Robert Pattinson heartbreak rumors swirling around since Kristen Stewart's cheating story broke. Who knows how our favorite heartbroken vampire babe is holding up. Wouldn't you just love to go right to the source and find out what's really going on in that messy-haired head of Rob's? Yeah, WE TOTALLY WISH.

Well, good news! In what might be a close second to getting up close and personal with Mr. Rob Pattinson himself, we found out exactly what Rob (or possibly the Rob doll who's for sale on eBay) is thinking. YES, WE ARE SERIOUS. He's glittery and no nonsense and often brazenly deboxed. In other words, he has no problem sharing the secrets behind those sexy, vacant, bedroom eyes.

Has Rob really forgiven Kristen and are they shacking up again so soon? Has he really gotten over the heartbreak already? What's really going on?!! HINT: Rob's bitter as all hell. Just ask the doll.

Mitt Romney Has Entitled Little Moochers Running Scared (PHOTOS)

Post by Sheri Reed

Mitt Romney surely has no idea that his 47 percent remarks have launched kids across the nation into a paranoid, maniacal frenzy. Sure, just days ago, before the secret Romney tapes were released, your son or daughter was probably perfectly content having hot meals served to them and their neatly folded clean laundry delivered to their bedrooms. Well, that was then and this is now.

Now frazzled children everywhere have a terror-induced spring in their step for fear they will be the next target on Romney's list. They don't want to be lumped in with that awful 47 percent. Not that! Homework hour is for the weak! Dreams of college are only for pathetic moochers! After all, everyone knows those entitled young scholars don't pay a dime of federal income tax.

It's all about hard work now. Because all Americans have a fair shot if they work hard, right? Right?!!! Let's take a look at some of the effects Mitt's comments are having on children.

More from The Stir: The 47% Responds to Mitt Romney in 15 Quotable Zingers

The 47% Responds to Mitt Romney in 15 Quotable Zingers

Post by Sheri Reed

Well, Mitt Romney has really stepped in it this time. Newly released secret tapes catch the Presidential nominee saying some very controversial statements about half the nation (47 percent to be exact), essentially calling them moochers and tax evaders while inadvertently (probably) lumping in the elderly, disabled war veterans, military troops serving in combat zones, etc. who often fall among that 47 percent who don't pay federal income taxes. Deep sigh.

Romney's long been struggling to shake his "Elitist" label, but he may as well have a capital "E" tattooed on his forehead after the statements he made to a room full of millionaires. This gaffe or shockingly revealing world view, whichever way you see it, isn't going to be swept under the rug either (sorry, Mittens!). Take a look at the Mitt Romney zingers that are already popping up like crazy on Twitter. ZING! OUCH, they sting!

Let's begin and end with comedian Chris Rock. LOL!

Chris Rock ‏@chrisrockoz

Mitt Romney, the guy who pays no taxes on millions of dollars thinks you're a welfare freeloader. God Bless 47% of America! #RomneyEncore

I guess the moral is "Don't rip on the 47% while they're still in the room serving you drinks" #RomneyEncore

It takes some brass to insult 47% of Americans and not show your own tax returns. #RomneyEncore

Mitt Romney should just talk to an empty chair this morning. That way he can't offend anyone. #RomneyEncore

62% of households who pay no federal tax earn less than $20K/year while Romney takes a $77/K deduction for his dancing horse #RomneyEncore

One's running for President of the UNITED States. The other's running for President of the 1%. #47percent

Mattison ‏@Mattison

I was an army brat, Mitt. I saw military families using food stamps to get by. They sacrifice. You mock them. Shame on you. #RomneyEncore

So @MittRomney calls #47percent of us welfare cheats & tax dodgers.
Dear Mitt Romney: If you walked in the shoes of the 47%, you'd know that unemployment benefits ARE TAXED. #RomneyEncore
