Around the turn of the 19th century a shoe merchant named Charles Beckman saw a local necessity for shoes specifically designed for the demanding work of industries such as mining, logging and farming…
A testament to that promise can be found in our Heritage collection which is made up of footwear that represents the American ideals of prosperous work and excellence.

[FR]

In April, 1994, the New York Post laid down the ultimate challenge: Could Kryptonite’s New York Lock last 48 hours on the toughest streets of New York? Michael Zane and Neil McDaid, Director, Product Development and Design, set out to prove, once again, Kryptonite was up to the test.

In a city where over 100,000 bikes were stolen each year, a brand new, bright green Univega road bike worth $600 was locked to a parking meter in the East Village; the « Bermuda Triangle » of New York bicycle thievery. For a full 48 hours, the bike remained locked on the corner of Avenue A and 11th Street.

(WWW.WIKIPEDIA.COM)

Bjarke Ingels studied architecture in Copenhagen and in Barcelona, receiving his diploma in 1999. From 1998-2001 he worked for Office of Metropolitan Architecture and Rem Koolhaas in Rotterdam.
In 2001, Bjarke Ingels returned to Copenhagen to set up the architectural practice PLOT together with Belgian OMA colleague Julien de Smedt. The company rapidly achieved success, receiving significant national and international attention for their inventive designs. Their first major achievement was the award-winning VM Houses in Ørestad, Copenhagen, in 2005. Despite its success, PLOT was disbanded in January 2006 and Bjarke Ingels created Bjarke Ingels Group, BIG Source: (WIKIPEDIA)
