Hello Everyone!

You’re invited to join the Cleveland Area Mountain Bike Association (CAMBA) for our Spring Campout at Blue Knob State Park, happening June 5–7, 2026. This free, two-day event is open to everyone, whether you’re new to mountain biking, an experienced rider, or just looking to enjoy a weekend outdoors.

Check-in begins after 4:00 PM on Friday, with check-out by 3:00 PM on Sunday. We’ll be staying at Group Camp #1 at Blue Knob State Park, Pennsylvania, featuring primitive cabins (sleeping pad and bedding required), a mess hall with appliances and potable water, and a shower house with flush toilets and hot showers. 

The weekend includes group rides for all skill levels, from beginner-friendly double-track to more technical singletrack with rocks, roots, and elevation. There are also hiking trails for non-riders. Saturday and Sunday will feature organized rides, social time, and a large campfire Saturday night.

Schedule of Events:

• Friday, June 5th
  • 4pm-on: check in to mess hall to be assigned a cabin. Set up your cabin. Prepare your dinner. Visit with friends old and new
• Saturday, June 6th
  • 7-11am: breakfast, socialize, prepare to ride
  • 1am-4pm: Group rides leave from camp. Multiple skill levels and ride lengths. Something for everyone!
  • 4-8pm: dinner, socialize
  • 8pm-on: enjoy the large campfire. Bring your camp chair and talk about the day’s ride!
• Sunday, June 7th
  • 7-10am: breakfast, socialize, pack up cabins, prepare to ride
  • 10am-1pm: Group rides leave from camp. Multiple skill levels and ride lengths. Something for everyone!
  • 1-3pm: pack up camp, clean up, grab a snack, socialize and check out by 3pm. After 3pm, the park will be doing a final walk through of the camp.

What to bring:

• Gear. It can be chilly at night, so pack accordingly. There are cabins that sleep 4, 6, or 8 people up to 100 persons total. For these you will need bedding for each camper (including mattress or sleeping pad).
• Bring your own food and drink for dinner. The camp has a kitchen with appliances, but does not have pots pans, plates, cups, utensils or linens. Cleaning supplies must also be brought in for clean-up before departure.
• Weather appropriate riding clothes, possibly including layer and rain gear. Being that it is spring, weather can be variable.
• Plenty of food and water for the ride (shopping is far away).
• Always be prepared for epic rides: extra tubes, mini-pump, tools, etc

In 2025, CAMBA made investments of $14,000 in Northeast Ohio mountain biking, supporting trail maintenance and development as well as working to grow our community. Included in this investment was a grant of $2500 to the North Coast Gnarwhals.

In the words of Brian Bilinovich, Head Coach of the North Coast Gnarwhals:

“The North Coast Gnarwhals used the CAMBA grant funds to directly support rider access and participation by purchasing 6 team bikes in a cost-effective and community-focused way. We partnered with Spin Bike Shop to help source and procure quality new bikes. To maximize the impact of the funds, several bikes were also purchased through Facebook Marketplace. These bikes have helped remove equipment barriers for riders and allowed more student-athletes to participate fully in practices, races, and trail experiences.

Additionally, riders from our team attended various CAMBA group rides throughout the year. These experiences helped our riders build trail skills, confidence, and a stronger connection to the local riding community.

The CAMBA grant has had a direct and measurable impact on rider access, trail participation, and youth development within our program, and we are grateful for the continued partnership.”

We hope your new year is off to a great start. We’re excited about the year ahead and spending more time outside in the woods with you, whether it’s tools in hand or on two wheels. A day on a mountain bike (or trail maintenance) always beats a good day in the office!

As we close out 2025, we at CAMBA want to say Thank You! for an incredible year together. Thanks to your support, we accomplished a lot for NE Ohio mountain biking— from all the new trails at West Branch, West Creek, and Tuscazoar to supporting trail maintenance at East Rim, Tuscazoar, Vultures Knob, Big Creek, Bedford, West Branch, Medina, Quail Hollow, Thorn Trails, and beyond.

But behind every one of these efforts are the people who make this work possible. This year, volunteers like YOU dedicated over 900 hours to maintaining trails, building new ones, and advocating for mountain biking at every level — from local trail systems to conversations with land managers from The Cleveland Metroparks, Ohio DNR, and Cuyahoga Valley National Park.  That commitment is the foundation of everything we do, and it only happens because people like you show up with your time and financial support.

What Your Support of CAMBA Made Possible in 2025:

Trail Building and Investment

CAMBA invested over $14,000 directly for trail construction and maintenance, including:

• $8,000 to Tuscazoar for the development of 3+ additional miles of new trails and general trail improvements
• $3,000 for Vulture’s Knob infrastructure improvements and repairs
• $1,500 to support the Medina trails
• $1,000 to support the Thorn Trails at Findley State Park
• In partnership with the ODNR and other orgs, CAMBA contributed $1,500 to the development of 8+ additional miles of new trail at West Branch State Park – for a total of 20 miles

Activating our Volunteers

CAMBA volunteers contributed over 900 hours on trail maintenance and enhancements, keeping trails safe, rideable, and fun:

• 400+ volunteer hours at East Rim Trail
• 200+ volunteer hours at West Branch State Park (8 official trail days)
• 160+ volunteer hours at Big Creek Metropark (6 official trail days)
• 90+ volunteer hours at Bedford Metropark
• 25+ volunteer hours at Quail Hollow Park (4 official trail days)

Racing, Youth, and Community Support

• Sponsorship of the NOMBS race series, which helped raise an additional $20,000 for the race-hosting trails
• Neutral support at NOMBS and other regional races
• Continued collaboration with Shenanigans Cycling to operate both Shenanigan Cycling race team and Adventure Bike Club, a summer youth development program.
• Support for the development of the next generation of mountain bikers via a $2,500 contribution to NICA / North Coast Gnarwhals race program
• Community events like the CAMBA Spring Campout at Blue Knob State Park, the CAMBA Fall Field Trip to Dillon State Park, and weekly CAMBA group rides connecting riders of all skill levels with trails across NE Ohio

Partnerships and Advocacy

• Close collaboration with Cleveland Metroparks, CVNP, ODNR, Summit County Metroparks, and other land managers
• Active participation in OMBA (Ohio Mountain Bike Alliance) to advocate for mountain biking statewide

Looking ahead to 2026

We’re heading into 2026 with renewed energy that will help drive CAMBA’s work:

• 2026 is CAMBA’s 25th Anniversary
• Maintaining the trails we all enjoy
• Expanding access and improving facilities where it’s needed most
• Growing rider education and skills programs
• Continuing to build productive partnerships with land managers and public officials to seek good outcomes for mountain biking in NE Ohio.

• Our annual Winter Social and FUNdraiser returns on Saturday, January 31st at Missing Falls Brewery. Help us celebrate our 25th Anniversary advocating for mountain biking in NE Ohio!  Doors open at 6 PM.  We hope to see you there!
• CAMBA and NOMBS are hosting the Punderson Winter Challenge Race! on Sunday, January 25th at Punderson State Park.  Join us for some mid-winter fun!
