This Christmas we are doing something very special; here at CameraClick we are giving away every penny we earn during the months of November, December and January. We've chosen two really deserving charities to donate equally to. Both are children's hospices; Tŷ Hafan which is in South Wales, and Acorns, which is based in Worcester.

Samsung is soon to launch it’s latest point and click compact digital camera; the ST80. The 14.2 megapixel camera comes complete with Wi-Fi connectivity making it easy to share images on the move, either via email or direct upload to social networking sites such as Facebook. And For The Teens.....

Following on from my last blog about the Toy Story 3 Camera for kids, I thought it was time to look at a camera that will appeal to slightly older users. My daughter is 12 and saw an advert for the Nikon S3000, and when I looked at it myself, I could see that this was definitely a camera aimed at the style conscious teen market.

The Nikon S3000 is a fairly standard entry level digital camera that is very easy to use. It does excel, however, at really great portraits, and features Face Recognition, Smile Detection, Red Eye Reduction and Blink Proof features.

And probably most important for the teen market, the S3000 looks great; it is a very slimline compact camera that comes in an impressive range of colours - as well as the standard black or silver, you can really stand out from the crowd by going for the vibrant red, blue, orange, green or purple.

As far as my daughter is concerned this camera definitely ticks all the boxes as she is after a camera to primarily take pictures of her and her friends, and a camera that looks really funky. Here's One For The Kids...

My kids love the Toy Story movies and can be suckers for merchandising, so imagine their excitement when they first caught sight of this.

In terms of specification, the Toy Story 3 camera is up there with the VTech Kidizoom and Fisher Price Kid Tough cameras, both ranges that are market leaders in children's cameras. Whatever the Weather

So we are heading for the middle of June and it feels like the middle of February. I don't wish to sound like another whinger about the state of the British weather, as in my defence June is also birthday party season in our house, and so I do follow the weather forecasts quite keenly. This means that I can be prepared for either a delightful group of young ladies playing nicely in the garden in the sunshine, or a bunch of marauding pre teens trashing my house whilst the heavens open. One thing I won't need to worry about, however, is if I can risk getting my camera out should the weather take a turn for the worst. This is because I am currently loving the range of rugged cameras on the market, which although are really designed with the adrenaline junkie/beach lover in mind, I find are great just for being indestructible in the unpredictable British weather.

Most digital camera manufacturers are adding rugged cameras to their ranges, and most of them have a number of things in common. These include being waterproof, shockproof, dustproof and freezeproof to varying degrees. They are also on the whole really well specified and great looking cameras in their own rights that contain the range of features you would expect to find on any normal compact digital camera. You can still expect to get a camera that has 5x optical zoom, 12 megapixels and video recording capabilities. Price wise, you can pick up a rugged camera for a similar price to a standard compact camera.

Going for Gold

Camera manufacturers are making cameras in an increasingly dazzling array of colours, but this, the Canon PowersShot SX210 IS is the first I have seen in gold, and so I think it deserves a blog post all of its own!

The SX210 comes in the standard black, and also the very stylish gold (as shown) and a very funky purple. There is, however, much more to this camera that its colour. Shall we start with the 14x optical zoom 28mm wide angle lens? or the 14 megapixels? or the 3" PureColor II LCD touch screen? or the HD video recording with stereo sound?

Whichever way you look at it, this camera is a serious contender in the fiercely fought superzoom camera market. It really does have something for everyone; the 14x optical zoom is great for getting up close and personal however far back you are at this summers' sports or music events. Why a Super Zoom Camera is a Summer Must Have

Weather permitting, I'm off to my first festival of the summer season this weekend; Wychwood at Cheltenham.

This set me thinking about taking along my tried and tested Panasonic Lumix TZ7 to get some really good stage shots even if I am far back in the crowd. Superzoom cameras really are the must have bit of kit for any outdoor event, be it sport or music, as you can really zoom in closely on the action. Anyway, the TZ7 will definitely be coming with me because as well as having a 12x Optical Zoom, it records HD video, and its simple enough to use I'll even let the kids have a play if I'm feeling generous.

One of the best things currently about the TZ7 is that it has been superseded by the TZ8 and TZ10, which means it is steadily dropping in price - you can easily pick one up for below £200 at CameraClick at the moment, so if you are in the market for a top notch super zoom camera, the TZ7 is definitely one to look at.
