Join us as we give a big Camp ASCCA welcome to Lily Douglass! Lily is joining us for her first summer at ASCCA as a member of our Aquatics program staff.

Lily is from Hartselle, Alabama, and is a junior at Auburn University, where she is pursuing a degree in nursing.

Lily first heard about Camp ASCCA from a friend who previously worked here and immediately knew it would be the perfect fit for her. While this is her first summer at ASCCA, she brings four years of lifeguarding experience with her, and we’re excited to see her skills in action this summer.

Lily is especially looking forward to Teen Week after hearing so many great things about it.

A fun fact about Lily is that she can crush a soda can between her shoulder blades!

Join us as we give a big Camp ASCCA welcome to Saralynn Pelt! Saralynn is joining us for her first summer at ASCCA as a member of our Adventure program staff.

Saralynn is from LaGrange, Georgia, and is a rising junior at the University of West Georgia, where she is pursuing a degree in special education.

She first heard about Camp ASCCA from a former staff member and knew it was the place for her. Saralynn loves working with individuals with disabilities and has always loved camp, so ASCCA felt like the perfect fit.

Although she has never served in a role like this before, she is excited to take on a new challenge while helping create the best possible experience for our campers.

Saralynn is most looking forward to meeting all of our campers and getting to know each and every one of them. We’re so excited to have her on our team this summer!

A fun fact about Saralynn is that she loves being horizontal during rest period. In other words, she’s always happy to take the opportunity to lie down and relax!

Camp ASCCA’s Director of Development, Dana, and Social Media & Marketing Specialist, Elise, recently attended the Alabama Elks Association’s 104th Annual Convention, held on June 6th in Decatur, AL.

During the event, the Alabama Elks Trust officers, presented Camp ASCCA with a generous 2026 gift of $50,000 to support capital projects.

The Alabama Elks Association has supported Camp ASCCA for countless years. No matter the need, the Elks are always among the first to show up and lend a helping hand. We are deeply grateful for their unwavering support. It’s because of dedicated organizations like the Elks that Camp ASCCA has had the privilege of serving individuals with disabilities for 50 years.

Elise shared exciting updates about Camp ASCCA with the attendees and encouraged everyone to join us for Elks Day at Camp ASCCA on July 18th and for our 50th anniversary celebration on August 1st.

We are incredibly grateful to the entire Alabama Elks Association for their continued support and long-standing dedication.

Join us as we give a big Camp ASCCA welcome to Drew Collins! Drew is joining us for his first summer at ASCCA as a member of our Adventure program staff.

Drew is from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and is a senior at The University of Alabama pursuing a degree in business management and entrepreneurship.

While this is Drew’s first summer on the Camp ASCCA staff, he is no stranger to camp life. He has been involved with Camp Seale Harris as both a camper and staff member since childhood.

After graduation, Drew hopes to build a career in the camp industry, and Camp ASCCA felt like the perfect opportunity to broaden his experience and continue growing as a camp professional.

This summer, Drew is excited to help campers challenge themselves through adventure activities while building meaningful connections along the way. He is especially looking forward to meeting our incredible campers, learning more about individuals with disabilities, and experiencing the camaraderie of the program staff.

Fun fact: Drew founded a lightsaber dueling club at The University of Alabama!

Join us as we give a big Camp ASCCA welcome to Lena Bilbrey! Lena is joining us for her first summer at ASCCA as a member of our Aquatics program staff.

Lena is from Albertville, Alabama, and is a sophomore at the University of Wyoming. While this is her first summer at Camp ASCCA, she has heard about camp for years through her family. Her sister has worked several summers at ASCCA, and her mom has also been involved. Timing is everything, and this summer was finally the right time for Lena to join her family at camp.

Lena chose to be part of the Aquatics program staff because of her previous experience as a lifeguard. This role allows her to use those skills while spending time with campers and helping create memorable experiences.

There is so much to look forward to this summer, but one thing stands out above the rest. Lena can’t wait to be out on the boat during tubing and see the joy on the faces of campers and staff during each tubing rotation!

A fun fact about Lena is that she loves to crochet!

Join us as we give a big Camp ASCCA welcome to Michaela Roswal! Michaela is joining us for her fifth summer at ASCCA and is part of our Adventure program staff.

Michaela is from Huntsville and is attending The University of Alabama in Huntsville, where she is pursuing a degree in biology.

Michaela is no stranger to Camp ASCCA. While this is her fifth summer on staff, her connection to ASCCA goes back much further. Her father worked on the Adventure staff in the late 1990s and now serves on the Board. Her grandfather also serves on the Board and previously held the role of Board Chair.

Michaela began her ASCCA journey in 2019 as a CIT before serving as a counselor from 2021 to 2023. Now, she’s back in a new role, and we’re excited to see her help create meaningful experiences for campers this summer.

Although it’s been a couple of years since she was last at camp, one thing hasn’t changed: her love for the campers and the ASCCA community. She’s excited to reconnect with old friends, make new memories, and be part of another unforgettable summer.

A fun fact about Michaela is that she has two cats and two dogs!

Join us in giving a big Camp ASCCA welcome to Elizabeth Riley! This is her first summer at ASCCA, and she is a member of our Adventure Program staff.

Elizabeth is from Huntsville, Alabama, and is a rising sophomore at the University of South Alabama, where she is majoring in Exercise Science.

She first heard about Camp ASCCA from a friend who previously worked here and decided to give it a try. We’re grateful for her enthusiasm and excited to have her on our team this summer. Elizabeth loves being outdoors, staying active, and meeting new people, making Camp ASCCA the perfect fit for her.

One thing Elizabeth is especially looking forward to is watching campers experience the zipline, whether it’s their first ride or their twentieth. She’s excited to help campers enjoy opportunities and adventures they may not get to experience anywhere else.

A fun fact about Elizabeth is that she has a toe thumb!

Join us as we give a big Camp ASCCA welcome to Abby Blount! Abby is joining us for her second summer at ASCCA and is part of our Aquatics program staff. She will be a lifeguard, and you’ll see her at all of our aquatics programs.

You may recognize Abby from her role last year on the Arts & Crafts program staff. She’s excited to begin year two, and we’re excited to have her back!

Abby is from Enterprise, Alabama, and is a rising junior at Auburn University, where she is pursuing a degree in education.

The decision to return to ASCCA for another summer was an easy one for Abby. She says, “I had such a fun time last year. This is such a humbling experience, and it’s a great way to serve others. It’s truly super fun.”

Abby is looking forward to being part of the Aquatics staff. She loves a challenge and is excited about the new role she has stepped into.

This summer, she is excited to reconnect with the friendships she made last year and is eager to meet all of our new campers as well. Being a member of the program staff is unique because you have the opportunity to meet and spend time with all of our campers.

You could say that working at Camp ASCCA is a family tradition. Abby’s mom and brother have both worked at ASCCA for multiple summers. Though you may leave ASCCA, it never truly leaves you.

A fun fact about Abby is that she met Jimmy Carter.

Join us as we give a big Camp ASCCA welcome to the first member of our program staff, Daniel Fleming! Daniel is joining us for his first summer at ASCCA and is part of our Outdoor Education program staff. He will be in charge of our shooting sports department.

Daniel is from Mobile, Alabama, and is attending The University of South Alabama, where he is pursuing a degree in digital film and television production.

Daniel heard about Camp ASCCA from a friend who had previously worked here, and we are so excited that he decided to try it out for himself! He has always been a fan of summer camp growing up and now gets to experience it from a different perspective.

With Daniel getting ready to wrap up his college career before entering the real world, he thought this was the perfect opportunity to join the ASCCA team for a summer. Daniel loves archery and is looking forward to getting back into the sport he is passionate about.

Daniel is excited to teach archery and share it with all of the campers he will encounter.

A fun fact about Daniel is that he has flown an open cockpit plane!

We’re so excited to have Daniel as part of our team and know he’ll thrive in this new role!

Camp ASCCA’s 50th summer will begin in just a couple of weeks! Our program staff arrived on May 26 for their training, and we’re excited to announce that they have officially completed it! This year’s team includes both new and returning staff across our Adventure, Aquatics, Outdoor Education, and Arts & Crafts programs. We have a feeling Summer 2026 may just be our best one yet.

Their training began with introductions and then moved into policies and procedures. This essential knowledge helps our staff fully understand Camp ASCCA’s mission and history. From there, program staff split into their respective program areas for hands-on learning and preparation. Our goal is to ensure each team member feels confident, informed, and ready to provide the best experience for our campers.

From aquatics activities to adventure and the demo farm, we are confident that our program staff is fully prepared for whatever may come their way. We can’t wait to welcome our campers and officially begin the 50th Camp ASCCA summer.

For the next two weeks, our staff will be working alongside Camp Seale Harris, a camp dedicated to children with Type 1 diabetes. Throughout these weeks, they’ll lead activities and evening programs while gaining valuable experience and creating unforgettable memories before we welcome our ASCCA campers back home for the summer.

This is truly just the beginning of what’s sure to be an incredible summer season.
