Spring Work Days: April 5 & April 26

Spring Work Day 1: Saturday, April 5, 9am to 3pm
Spring Work Day 2: Saturday, April 26, 9am to 3pm

Did you know that Camp Hanover encompasses nearly 600 acres of wooded forest? Did you know that within that piece of property, there are miles and miles of trails, and over 40 buildings, facilities and permanent structures? Did you know, Camp Hanover employs just two people – part time! -- to tackle the gargantuan task of maintaining all of the buildings, equipment and vehicles you would find on the site? That’s a lot of “site” for two part-timers (retired part-timers at that!) to maintain!

Site Manager Larry Covington and Maintenance Assistant Jim Marston do a tremendous job keeping everything running smoothly and looking great. With a site as large as Camp Hanover, they are only able to do so thanks to the help of countless volunteers who give many hours of time mowing grass, painting buildings, and performing other maintenance tasks. Thanks to their efforts you are able to enjoy your camp, safely and comfortably, all year long.

Join us on Saturday April 5 and Saturday April 26 for Camp Hanover's Spring Work Days. Put on some work gloves, pick up a rake or paintbrush, wield a hammer or saw, and lend a hand in taking care of your camp. Consider bringing your family or a small group of handy folks out to the Camp Hanover Work Day to assist Larry and Jim with the maintenance of the site. You can pitch-in for a couple of hours or volunteer the entire day starting at 9am. Please RSVP to info@camphanover.org so we know to expect you.

Winter Camp: December 28 - 30

Winter Camp is an opportunity to explore the beauty of Camp Hanover during a different season. Current 5th - 12th graders are invited to join us for this winter getaway. Like summer camp, this event involves primarily outside activities, including cookouts, hayrides, and games. Winter Camp is open to camp veterans and first timers alike.

The Rev. Michelle Owens will serve as our keynote speaker as we explore the theme "Not Finished Yet!" Many of Camp Hanover's summer staff will be back at Winter Camp to lead, laugh, play and worship with campers in a way that only happens at Camp Hanover!

Winter Camp begins on Saturday, December 28 with check-in between 10am and 11am. Winter Camp ends on Monday, December 30 with pickup at 2pm.

The cost for Winter Camp includes all meals, lodging and activities lead by Camp Hanover staff. There are three rates: $185 / $195 / $225. We ask you to choose whichever rate is most comfortable for your family. If you are curious, you can learn more about why we offer three different prices. The experience is the same for all campers, regardless of which rate you choose to pay. And thanks to the mission funding provided by churches of the Presbytery of the James, we are able to offer $30 of additional support to families who are members of a Presbytery of the James church to further reduce the cost of Winter Camp.
