Summer camping can be lots of fun. It is usually in the summer when families have their vacations and summer camping can be a great vacation. Summer camping can be the most cost effective vacation for a family and summer camping will put you right in the thick of some really great activities. summer camping needs to be planned in advance due to the fact that summertime is when everyone else wants to go camping too. So in order to ensure that your summer camping is fun and successful, you should plan well in advance. And if you are planning on doing your summer camping in any of the more popular parks or national forests, you had better make reservations as soon as those locations allow. Sometimes, that means making your reservations exactly one year in advance because if you don't, the best campsites will be reserved before you know it. So avoid disappointment and book your campsite early.

Another thing to consider about summer camping is the traffic to and from the parks and forests. If you summer camping is taking place over any of the holiday weekends during the summer, be prepared for heavy traffic. And if your summer camping will be taking place on an island where you will need to take a ferry, then plan a long wait on the ferry lines and have games and snacks available for that time in the car.

But summer camping isn't all crowds and traffic. The idea of summer camping is to get out in the woods where it is cool and to relax. The ideal summer camping spot is near a mountain lake because it will be cooler than at home and you can swim and fish during your summer camping trip. In some mountain parks, summer camping can even involve snow and cold weather clothes. Summer camping can also be great fun at the beach. You don't need to be right on the beach to enjoy this type of summer camping. You just need to be close enough to walk down to the beach for a swim anytime you like.

A lot of people plan their summer camping to coincide with a road trip. This is a great way to see the country and get a lot of summer camping in along the way. If you plan it carefully enough, this type of summer camping trip will take you from beautiful scenic spot to beautiful scenic spot all along your trip. With this type of road trip summer camping, you can experience all types of summer camping in one vacation. You can camp in the woods near home, then you can camp at a lake, then you can camp in a national forest in the mountains and then you can camp in a campsite near some kind of attraction like an amusement park or historical site. All this could happen during one summer camping trip.

Almost everyone's idea of camping involves pitching a tent somewhere and sleeping out in the woods. But you can camp out in the woods without a tent if you want to do some tentless camping. Tentless camping doesn't mean you won't have shelter from the elements if yo need it. Tentless camping doesn't mean you will always be sleeping under the start, though that is a great option if the weather is good.

What tentless camping means is that you won't be buying an expensive tent and hauling it on your back out into the woods. Also what tentless camping means is that you won't be fooling with all those crazy confusing stretchy cords and plastic sticks when trying to figure out how the heck to put together that eight room, family size, jumbo tent that you just had to have and that looked so good in the showroom. Tentless camping means that you won't be regretting you trusted that salesperson when they assured you that pitching you new tent would be a cinch.

Tentless camping means that you will do for yourself what every person should know how to do and that is build you own shelter from the materials that are available at hand. Tentless camping can mean that you dispense with shelter altogether and just sleep out under the stars. This type of tentless camping is great, but only if the weather holds and you get no rain during the night and the wind doesn't pick up and start to blow through your sleeping bag. So while you might want to start out under the stars, you may want a little shelter to retreat to before morning so it is best to prepare something in advance.

A simple lean to will suffice for this type of tent camping. You should pick a spot that is sheltered by boulders and then lean some good sized fallen trees that you have dragged into your campsite, up against the boulders. You can let it go at that if you are fairly certain it won't rain too much during the night and that you might just need a little shelter from the wind.

Tentless camping doesn't have to mean that you don't have adequate shelter thought. If you are committed to tentless camping and will be staying in the same spot for a while, then you can build a pretty elaborate lean to that will provide you more than adequate shelter from the wind and the rain. All you need is a sharp axe and some rope to lash things together and you, with a little help from your friends could build a shelter that will mean comfortable tentless camping for a whole group.

For the outdoor enthusiast, there's nothing better than slipping into a warm and comfortable sleeping bag at the end of a good day of outdoor activity. However, there are times in every climate when something a little extra is needed that can make bedding down for the night even cozier- sleeping bag liners.

Sleeping bag liners can be made of a myriad of materials, such as cotton, silk or polyester; and depending on the type of fabric, they can raise the temperature inside a bag anywhere from 5-10 degrees. This can be a handy addition for those nights with an unexpected drop in temperature; or to gussy up a bag that may be too light for the environment it's in. Aside from the ability to raise temperatures inside the bag, sleeping bag liners also prolong the life of a sleeping bag by protecting it from dirt, odors and body oils which can collect on the bag itself, prompting the need for it to be washed. The less a sleeping bag is washed, the longer it will last.

For cold weather climates, sleeping bag liners made of fleece can provide just the right amount of extra protection. Fleece has an amazing ability to trap warm air and body heat. When used in conjunction with other insulators, it offers the ability to raise the temperature inside the bag quite well. For those who have a tendency to 'sleep cold', this is an excellent way to bolster their bag and ensure a comfortable night's rest. Although it can add a few degrees cotton sleeping bag liners are more for moderate temperatures. Cotton's ability to absorb moisture and body oils can prolong the life of a sleeping bag. As it is considered a poor conductor of heat, sleeping bag liners made of silk work best in hot climates, wicking away moisture and keeping things nice and comfortable. At the end of the trip, the bags get put away and the liners are washed.

Sleeping bag liners are made to fit every shape of sleeping bag there is, from rectangle to tapered and even mummy bags. Sleeping bag liners can work very well by themselves at times and are typically very small and light to carry. This is a piece of camping gear that is very handy to have as it serves more than one purpose, is light and takes up little or no room. While some opt to buy sleeping bag liners at a specialized camping gear store, some opt to find the right material and make their own!

There are many different uses for camping knives, depending on where you are going and what the plans are. When camping in the woods, a knife is useful for trimming trees as well as cutting food before cooking, but the size of the camping knives will be decided by their use. For many people, it is not unusual to use their knife for a variety of tasks, which makes their choice important so they do not have to carry a different knife for different purposes.

Knives with a serrations may be idea for cutting tender objects, such as a loaf of bread, but probably will not work if it has to trim small branches for a tree to use for roasting hot dogs over an open fire. In some instances, camping knives may be called upon to fillet fish and using a serrated edge may make this job harder. While most view camping knives as a long, fixed-blade tool to carry in a sheath, others prefer folding blades to make them easier and safer to carry.

Those choosing to carry folding camping knives are advised to insure it is a lock-back knife to prevent the blade from slipping closed while being used. The lock-back feature requires the use of two hands to close the blade, but also eliminates the accidental closing when the fingers may not be out of the way.

Do Not Carry Unprotected Knives

It may seem elementary, but camping knives should be carried either in a protective sheath or be able to have the blade fold into the handle. This is only common sense, but there are many accidents every year from people being cut or stabbed while carrying an open-bladed knife in their backpack or pocket. The sheath should also be sturdy enough so that the blade of camping knives does not accidentally cut though the side.

How the sheath is positioned on the belt is also safety related. It should be far enough to one side so as not interfere with the wearer's ability to stoop or bend, yet close enough to the front to allow easy access. Care is also needed to make sure the sheath housing the camping knives does not end up poking in the pocket or getting hung up on passing brush.

Regardless of the use of camping knives, they need to kept clean and sharp at all times. Even if they are not used for cutting food, if they are allowed to dry with sap from a tree branch on the blade, even stainless steel blades will suffer and become weak. The blade should never be held over an open fire to clean it, as the heat from the flame can cause the blade to lose its strength and snap off under normal circumstances.

Are you a parent? If you are, you may regularly be looking for ways to spend quality time with your family. If that is the case, have you ever thought about having a family picnic? If this is not something that you have considered, you may want to at least think about doing so, as there are a number of benefits to having family picnics.

One of the many benefits to having a family picnic with your family is all of your options, in terms of locations. There are a number of different locations that are perfect for family picnics. Perhaps, the best location is that of your own backyard. In addition to having a backyard family picnic, you may also want to examine your local public parks, state parks, and so forth.

As previously stated, the greatest benefit of having a family picnic is the quality time that you are able to spend with your family. If you are a parent, you likely already know how difficult it can be to try and spend time with your family. With hectic schedules, many families are constantly running short on time. What is nice about picnics is that they can last as short as a few hours or run as long as all day. It is also important to mention that the change of scenery may do you and your family good, even if that change of scenery is just to your backyard, as opposed to your kitchen table.

Another one of the many benefits to having a family picnic is that they can be relatively easy to plan. Although picnics can be somewhat complicated to plan and prepare for, they are easier when you have small picnics, namely ones where the attendants are your immediate family members. Often times, you just need to barbeque a few meats, make a few sandwiches, and prepare a few side dishes. Depending on the size of your family and their food preferences, you could plan a picnic, as well as prepare all of your needed foods, in as little as an hour or two.

The activities that you can participate in are another one of the many benefits to family picnics. Should you decide to have your next family picnic take place at a local park, you may find yourself gaining access to hiking trails or a body of water where you can go swimming, boating, or fishing. Even if your family picnic is to occur in your own backyard, there are a number of different outdoor activities that you and your family can participate in. To help ensure that everyone has a good time, you may want to consider allowing some of your family members, namely your children, to help you plan your family picnic activities.

What is nice about having a family picnic is that you can do so at just about any point in time. With that in mind, picnics are best during the summertime, when the weather is often warm and sunny. In addition to having a family picnic just because, you may want to use your next family picnic as a way to celebrate an important occasion or event, like a birthday. Whenever you decide to have a picnic or wherever you decide to have that picnic, there is a good chance that you and the rest of your family, including your children will enjoy the time that you were able to spend together, as well as the fun that you all had.

Are you looking for a fun and exciting way to spend time with your family, with your friends, or with your romantic partner? If you are, have you taken the time to examine camping? Camping is nice as it is occasionally referred to as a recreational activity that is affordable. As nice as camping is, did you know that you can do much more, like have a picnic? In fact, when you think about it, camping and picnics really are the perfect combination.

One of the many reasons why camping and picnics are the perfect combination is because it seems as if they are designed for each other. For instance, if you were to go camping, there is a good chance that you would choose to do so at a state park or a public campground park. When examining these popular camping destinations, you will find that many of them have picnic areas, many of which may be right on or near your campsite. It is common to find parks and campgrounds that already have picnic tables installed or you can choose to bring your own picnic blankets to use.

Another one of the many ways that camping and picnics make for the perfect combination can be seen when you examine popular picnic locations. What is nice about having picnics is that you can have them in your own backyard and at local parks. While some of the local parks that you may be interested in having a picnic at may be "traditional," in nature, it is possible to find parks that also have onsite camping available. Often times, you may find that camping is included in the cost of your admission. If the cost of camping is not included, you may be surprised with just how affordable the extra cost it.

When having a picnic, many families, friends, and couples, do much more than just eat. That is one of the many reasons why camping and picnics tend to go hand in hand. Many popular picnic activities, depending on the location of your picnic, tend to include boating, swimming, fishing, and hiking. These are many of the same activities that are associated with camping. In fact, you will find that many state parks and public campground parks have swimming pools, lakes, or other bodies of water, as well as great hiking trails.

As much as camping and picnics make the perfect combination, many individuals do not make this association. One of the reasons for that is because many individuals associate picnics with a few hours worth of fun. Although picnics can last a few hours, there is no need to rush. Many families and couples have their picnics last hours upon hours. If you are interested in doing the same and if you would like to picnic in a public location, like a state park, you may want to consider adding camping to your fun list of activities. Even if you aren't familiar with camping, it is something that you should enjoy and many of the needed supplies are easy to come by, as well as affordable.

As outlined above, camping and picnics really make for the perfect combination. If you have a little bit of free time in your future or if you are looking to take an affordable vacation, you may want to examining combining a picnic with a camping adventure, as you can have an unlimited amount of fun when doing so.

Your camping fun can begin with planning. Camping fun doesn't just happen. Camping fun needs to be planned. But you can plan lots of camping fun. First you should all talk about where you would like to camp. This part of camping fun can go on for hours and hours. You can all talk about the places you think would be best for camping fun. If you get enough suggestions, you can do some research and then have a vote on where to go camping. This is a big part of camping fun.

Another big part of camping fun is the preparation. You need to really seriously consider where you will be camping and what type of camping you will be doing. This is all part of camping fun. You can daydream about all the camping fun you will be having. Once you have a really clear idea of the type of camping you will be doing, you will know what supplies and equipment you will be needing for camping fun. Gathering all the supplies and gear needed for camping is a big part of camping fun. It can be very interesting and exciting to shop for all the cool gear you will need for camping. This type of camping fun can get a little expensive, but if money is not an issue, you can have a great time with this camping fun.

There are so many stores that stock the gear you need that you can really get into this phase of camping fun. Also if you want to shop from home, you can have a lot of camping fun right on the internet by spending time at all the camping websites. Once you have gathered all the gear and supplies, you are ready for the next phase of camping fun, the actual camping. The real camping fun begins when you get to your campground. It is so exciting to drive around the campground looking at all the great sites and choosing one for yourself. Camping fun isn't just about sleeping in the woods. The whole process of finding your ideal campsite and then setting up camp is a really big part of camping fun. Looking around your campsite and deciding where the best place would be to pitch your tent is some great camping fun.

Mountain Hardwear was started over a decade ago by a group of outdoor enthusiasts who used their own experiences to help develop outdoor gear that serious everyday hikers and campers would want to find in their own collection. The Mountain Hardwear sleeping bag is one of those items. Developed with the serious hiker and camper in mind, each bag was designed to handle below zero to just above zero temperatures. Knowing that each temperature range wields a certain level of demand on a camper's body, the insulation and bag shape are part of the design that keeps the inside of the unit dry and toasty yet compact for when it's time to get up and go.

A Mountain Hardwear sleeping bag comes with both synthetic and natural down insulation. Down is typically a mixture of goose feathers and is not only known for being light but for its amazing ability to trap warm air. Synthetic insulations in Mountain Hardwear bags like Polarguard Delta, Thermolite Extra and Thermic CF offer hollow filaments that also capture warm air and compresses nicely into a stuff sack. The materials are incredibly light; a bonus for the camper and hiker on the go. Each material provides a great level of comfort and protection as does the waterproof materials that are use to construct the shell of the Mountain Hardwear sleeping bag. Airy, breathable materials allow for a consistent level of bodyheat throughout the night.

The sarcophagus shape of a Mountain Hardwear sleeping bag is the best for cold weather as it retains body heat more efficiently than other shapes. It also uses less material than a rectangular bag and therefore takes up less room- even with the extra insulation in foot areas and across the chest. Those who choose a Mountain Hardwear sleeping bag will also find these extra features make the unit more comfortable and efficient:
* Insulated draft collar that will seal in bodyheat from the neck down
* Draw cords that can be adjusted with one hand on the hood and collar
* Insulated draft tube that runs the length of the bag to block cold breezes
* Face gaskets for sealing in warm air around the face
* Snag-proof zippers
* Women's cut that provides for female proportions in the hip and shoulder area
* Can be professionally cleaned but is machine washable (special instructions and suggestions apply)

Adding a Mountain Hardwear sleeping bag certainly makes a statement about becoming a serious camper or hiker and many find that it becomes an irreplaceable part of their camping collection.

If you are, you are definitely not alone. In the United States and all around the world for that matter, a large number of individuals, families, and couples love hosting or attending picnics. One of the many reasons for that is because picnics don't just involve eating, they also involve socializing with friends or family, as well as playing outdoor games and sports.

If you are in interesting in hosting a picnic, you may be wondering what your options are, in terms of location. If you are, you will want to continue reading on. Below, a few of the many places that are great for picnics are outlined below.

Perhaps, the best place for a picnic is at a park. When it comes to parks, you will find that you have a number of different options. No matter where you live, you should have access to a number of nearby parks, parks that many include public parks, campground parks, or state parks. Most parks have areas that are ideal for picnics. These areas often include shade from trees, picnic tables, and nearby fun activities, like a pool or body of water for swimming or fishing.

Speaking of a body of water, you may also want to think about having your next picnic, should you choose to have one, near a body of water, such as a lake. As previously stated, it is possible to find public parks that are located near lakes; however, you may also be able to find public land that is ideal for picnicking. These areas may not necessarily have playgrounds for children or public restrooms, but they may provide you with a little bit seclusion, as well as an absolutely beautiful view.

Speaking of seclusion, if you are looking to have your picnic double as a romantic date, you may be looking for privacy. One of the many ways that you can find privacy is in a wooded area. This is best if you are already visiting a state park, public park, or campground park. You can also use wooden areas around your home, namely ones that you may be familiar with. As nice as having a picnic on a blanket in the forest may sound, it is important that you use your best judgment when taking this approach.

As great as it is to go camping in a beautiful location, a secluded location, or one that gives you access to a number of other fun outdoor activities, like swimming or boating, you may be looking to stay at little bit closer to home. If that is the case, you can have your picnic right in your own backyard! This is ideal if you are looking to have a picnic with your family, namely small children. Doing a few "practice," picnics at home may help to prepare your young children for the real thing later on.

Although not as glamorous as the above mentioned picnic locations, you can also have a picnic right inside your home. This is best if you had a small picnic planned, but the weather took a turn for the worse and you are unable to have your outdoor picnic. Laying a blanket down in a family room may provide you with enough space to have the picnic of your dreams, just indoors. This is particularly ideal if your picnic was intended to be a romantic date for you and your partner.

The above mentioned locations are just a few of the many places that you may be able to hold a picnic. When deciding where you would like your next picnic to occur, it is important that you place a focus on the size of your picnic, like how many people you plan on inviting. Doing so will enable you to choose a location that will allow you and all of your guests to have a great time.

When considering going on a camping trip, there are a lot of items one must think of. Especially if you are new to the camping scene there is a lot more than one would think. To start with, the camping gear one needs is much more than some tent and sleeping bag. Firstly, the type and size of tent is very important depending on how many people are going and how comfortable you plan on being while camping. Although we all know that ordinarily when a tent says it's a four man that usually means that at best it will fit three people comfortably, and that is without inflatable mattresses and very little luggage. The number that the tents give is for extreme backpackers who plan on sleeping cosily inside the tent.

Another important item of camping gear is the sleeping bag. It is not sufficient to take just any bag when camping. It is important to know the weather conditions of the campsite and to take the necessary precautions to keep yourself warm while sleeping. However, because many campers may be carrying their luggage on their backs it is also important that the bag is not too bulky and awkward to carry. There are compromises and these can be found in stores. Watching out for the temperature of the bag and the size is probably the most important. To get the best in camping gear is not always cheap but it also does not have to bust a hole in your wallet. It is possible to find good quality camping gear at a reasonable price.

Another item of camping gear one needs to take into consideration if camping over a few days is a camping stove. These can be bought in most outdoor stores and again, they do not have to be big and bulky to serve their purpose. Small stoves can be found that only require some oil to light up and travel size pots can fit on top.

There is also specific camping gear that is better suited to different types of campers. For example, those camping with children, especially young children, will have to take a lot more into consideration than those travelling alone or in a group of peers. Certain precautions need to be taken by all campers but when there are children, there is a lot more to worry about. There is suitable camping gear for families however. Family size tents are available and very comfortable.

So no matter who the camper is, old or young, travelling alone or in a group, there is camping gear available for. It is generally easy to use and set up which is very important for those who don't want to spend all day building a tent.

It was in the 1990s when vegetarianism achieved its height of popularity. It became the hip choice, cool, and trendy. In fact, the fad became so widespread to the point that it became fashionable to identify oneself as "vegetarians."

However, people seem to have a misconception of this word. Many people have been calling themselves as such, but their definition of vegetarian included chicken and fish.

According to the dictionary, vegetarian is defined as one who eats no meat or fish, and, in some cases, nothing derived from an animal, like milk or eggs.

The purist form of vegetarianism is vegan. People who are vegans not only maintain a vegan diet of no meat, no fish, and no products derived from animals (including milk, eggs, and honey), but also completely avoid products, including clothing, derived from animals.

For pure vegans who love to hike, their choice of hiking boots is different than those who are not vegetarians. To ensure the utmost protection, outdoors gear manufacturers often manufacture their boots from animal leather. Not only is leather durable, it can also be easily waterproofed. But for vegetarian hikers, the only option is vegetarian hiking boots.

What are Vegetarian Hiking Boots?

Vegetarian hiking boots are just your typical hiking boot, only instead of leather, it is made of polyester or some material other than leather. People who do not use animal products on principle find some benefits from wearing vegetarian hiking boots as they are not made from any product derived from animals.

Where can you find Vegetarian Hiking Boots?

There are many outdoors outfitting shop that sell vegetarian hiking boots. People who have chosen to forego meat from their diet and lead a strictly no-animal product lifestyle would find that vegetarian hiking boots are quite easy to find.

Below are our top picks when it comes to vegetarian hiking boots for pure vegans:

When you go on a hike for several days in the woods, it might be acceptable to find an old log to sit on for the night, but when setting up a camp for a few days, camping chairs will be much more comfortable. The folding styles are much easier to carry with a backpack, or to stow inside a camper or the trunk of the car, but camping chairs will help keep you off the ground while sitting around the campfire at night.

There are different types of camping chairs available, but the ones with an aluminum frame and canvas seats and backs are the most popular. On top of being comfortable, they dry quickly if your site is hit by a sudden rainstorm or the morning dew clings to the fabric. Folding chairs with a metal frame and nylon straps, commonly called sling chairs, can be equally comfortable but take up more room in the car. Hard metal or wood folding chairs can also be used as camping chairs but are unwieldy to carry around to the campsite.

Regardless of the activities, camping chairs can offer seating when no other form of seating is available. Many people use their chairs when attending outdoor entertainment activities, as well as youth sports games when seating may be at a premium. It is infinitely more comfortable to tote camping chairs than it is to use a blanket spread on the ground.

Provide Extra Seating For Family Gatherings

Many individuals use their camping chairs when they have family and friends over for a cookout or other gathering. They can be found with built-in footstools as well as cup holders built into the arms of the camping chairs. Caution is needed against using the holders for hot beverages as the slightest bump can cause the liquid to spray out onto the person sitting in the chair.

Some camping chairs are designed for use on the beach, with exceptionally short legs allowing the user to sit almost on the ground. They keep them off the wet sand while enjoying the surroundings in comfort. This style of camping chairs is also good for those walking along a river and wanting to sit and wet a line waiting for the fish to bite.

There are many different styles and colors of camping chairs on the market and many are marked with a company's logo for advertising purposes. They can also be bought bearing the logo and colors of your favorite sports team to show the world to which team your loyalties lie.

More than just the "popular" or "fashionable" thing to do, carrying a hiking stick when you're hiking is just common sense. Using hiking sticks, walking staffs, or trekking poles will save your bacon when traveling in the backcountry. What's more, it will help prolong the life of your legs, feet, and especially, knees. Backpacking puts extra weight on your knees, hips, and ankles; hiking sticks can help alleviate the strain.

Hiking sticks can also do wonders for your confidence. With a hiking stick in hand, you can walk more naturally, and again, put less strain on your body. Using two sticks provides even more support.

There are many different choices of sticks available in the market. They come in different shapes, different materials, and different sizes. Some even have high-tech, shock-absorbing, telescoping features, while others could be as plain as a simple wooden stick. Just as types vary, prices of hiking sticks vary as well. They range from free (if you cut a branch off a tree at home) to $120 for a pair of the high-tech telescoping poles.

But how important exactly is a hiking pole or walking stick? Is it indispensable to every hiker? Or are you better off without it?

As it turns out, we are spared playing any guessing games when it comes to a discussion about the importance of hiking sticks. Roithner and others in Austria have compiled a recent study entitled Comparison of Knee Joint Forces During Downhill Walking With or Without Hiking Pole where they were able to show that the use of trekking or ski poles caused reductions of external and internal loads on the knee joint up to 20%.

That's good, but does this mean for the itinerant hiker like us? Well, it basically means that if you have weak knees and wish to protect them over the long term, having moderate support on the descents can save the knees. Not only that but it can also help prevent severe muscle soreness in the quadriceps (that's your thigh muscles by the way).

Authors of another study published in Muskuloskeletal Dynamics, Locomotion and Clinical Applications, by Andriacchi and Mikosz (1991), observed four times higher knee joint movements during descending stairs compared to walking on flat ground. That means that those people who have trouble walking down stairs in the city will almost undoubtedly have more difficulty on uneven terrain in the mountains.

When out there in the backcountry, your steps can be even steeper, and occur over longer time periods. That is why it is best to strengthen well in advance all the muscles in the lower leg that will be needed for climbing and descending. In the meantime while optimum strength is not yet reached, trekking poles or hiking sticks are a viable tool especially in early season as you get your legs ready for longer or harder climbs.

Bottom line?

Hiking or trekking sticks do help reduce the forces through the knee joint and can be appropriate for those who already suffer knee pain. They are also recommended for those beginning a long season of hikes and backpacking trips. However, whenever possible, try to develop the balance and leg strength to be stick-free when the need arises.

It is typically composed of canvas or acrylic cloth that is stretched lightly over a light structure of aluminum, iron, steel or wood. The configuration of this structure is something of a truss, space frame and planar frame.

Those that are easy to set- up and light on the budget are designed for the first-time recreational vehicle (RV) owners. It has the looks, strength and dependability you are asking for. Before you place a call to order any of the camper awnings, having the following information in hand is very important.

How to get the camper awnings' measurements when replacing exisitng?
* First, determine the length and width of the existing fabric with the canopy fully opened. The length should be measured from the roller tube to awning rail. Do not include include the hardware and valance in these measurements. The width measurement is the distance between the center line tocenter line of the hardware. With the canopy fully extended, you should find a product tag on the roller tube.

How to install the new camper awnings?
* Measure the width to the nearest foot by looking at where the hardware will be mounted. As you measure for the width, make sure that the installed hardware and canopy will not interfere with doors, windows and compartments. Envision how the unit will open once installed. Study how the hardware will be screwed in to make sure that it will be screwed in at a point that is well supported. There is also a need to measure for the length and height of the hardware. This measurement should be from the rail at the top of the vehicle to the floor level where you will need to fasten the arms.

How to order camper awnings?
* You will need appropriate fabric, roller, arms and rafters for a complete unit. These items are sold under separate part numbers. Remember that each recreational vehicle has its own specialized type. The kinds of RV's are as follows: motor home, travel trailer, folding camper and truck camper. There are several sorts of camper awnings such as the patio which has fiesta, simplicity and freedom; companion which has window, SL window and truckin'; and slideout which has summit, kover II and omega II.

Thousands of companies are doing business on camp accessories. Because the competition is fierce, you can get great deals on multiple buys or even deep discounts on just one. You can call around to local installers to find out what their specials are and compare the savings around town. Simply stated, camper awnings can make a wonderful addition to nearly any RV for that matter.

In terms of camping equipment, Coleman is typically known as the leader of manufacturing and distributing quality camping equipment and is generally seen as the world leader in this field. Coleman sells tents, stoves, grills, backpacks, lighting equipment, and virtually anything else that a camper might need out in the middle of nowhere.

History and Information

The Coleman camping equipment company was founded by a man named W.C. Coleman in Kansas. Coleman began selling kerosene lamps on his own before moving to Kansas and starting mass production on a variety of camping implements. The headquarters for Coleman is still located in Wichita, Kansas. Coleman specifically gears its marketing towards campers, but their product lines appeal to the outdoor person in all of us.

The Coleman Lamp

The most famous product from Coleman camping equipment is likely to be the "Coleman lamp" which is a series of lamps that burn kerosene, propane, or other combinations of fuels. The Coleman lamp is famous for its intensely bright white light that helps out many a camper in the darkness of the woods. There is simply no price that can be put on having a reliable lighting system in the woods, so the Coleman lamp remains a fixture in the camping gear of most adventurers.

Other Products

Coleman also produces an extensive line of other products for the needs of the camper or recreational addict and tends to be a favorite outlet store of many an outdoors person. Along with the Coleman lamp, Coleman camping equipment includes special tents made out of the best material for camping. These tents are incredibly popular among those making long term camping trips with protection from the environmental elements necessary to their survival.

Along with the popular tent line, Coleman camping equipment supplies sleeping bags and backpacks with the same safety guarantees and reliability in terms of reputation. Many expert campers rely on the Coleman name for quality and safety and this helps sell the Coleman brand to novice campers as well.

Coleman also manufactures camp stoves, lighting supplies, and even hot tubs and watches. If it has anything to do with the outdoors, Coleman camping equipment is likely to have a presence there because in the past, Coleman has even sold trailers and boats which yet again proves that Coleman is synonymous with anything recreation and camping.

Weekend camping can provide you with many of the benefits of camping, but without the need to use up two weeks of vacation time. You can also do weekend camping all year round. So you will get to enjoy the fun and relaxation of camping in small manageable doses throughout the year and you will therefore get a chance to experience camping in all seasons.

Weekend camping can be as simple and easy as throwing a few things into the trunk of the car or the back of the pickup and heading off for the nearest county or state park for a couple of nights of easy camping. Or weekend camping could be a planned trip to somewhere within quick flying distance where you arrive on a Friday afternoon, are picked up at the airport by your guide and taken off into a nearby national park for a brief, but luxury camping experience. It all depends on your needs, desires and means. If you have unlimited financial resource, you can do some spectacular weekend camping all over the world, but you don't need to spend a lot of money to enjoy weekend camping.

Weekend camping should be a relaxing getaway for you and your family. Getting everybody out of the house and into the fresh air and sunshine even if it is just to a small county park with a little mud puddle of a lake is a great thing to do for yourself and your kids. These days, people spend way too much time indoors and kids spend way too much time being passively entertained by TV, movies and video games. Weekend camping can break this cycle if even only for a few days. Weekend camping can, at least give your kids a glimpse of a different life.

Weekend camping can teach your kids so many valuable lessons even in a short time. weekend camping on a consistent basis is such a health activity. You and your family will profit by the regular planning and preparation. and your kids will learn a lot about nature from regular weekend camping. They will also learn that they don't need to be entertained, but can entertain themselves and find fascinating and interesting things to do while weekend camping.

Tent camping can mean a one man mountain tent pitched on a remote peak. Tent camping can mean a two man tent pitched by a stream for tired anglers to sleep in after a long day of fishing. Tent camping can mean a family tent nestled among the tall cedars in a state park campground where mom and dad and the kids are enjoying their two week summer vacation. Tent camping can mean an encampment of many tents for a big family reunions in a national park and tent camping can mean living in tent city after you have lost your home. As you can se, tent camping can and doe mean many things to many different people.

Tent camping a a great way to get out of the hustle and bustle of city life and into nature. When you do tent camping, you are surrounded by actual nature. Living, growing trees, singing birds, jumping fish and of course, biting mosquitoes. Tent camping is a wonderful way to relax and forget about your troubles back in the world. Tent camping is peaceful and serene. When you tent camp, you are more in touch with the elements. When you go tent camping, you feel the rain and the wind and the heat and the cold. But when you are tent camping, you don't mind it. When you are tent camping, you expect it. And when tent camping, nothing beats the sound of rain on your tent as you lay on your soft sleeping bag and air mattress with your family near by.

Tent camping is such a wonderful experience in so many ways and it is so affordable. All you need to do is to buy yourself a suitable tent and head out to the woods. The type of tent you buy should be determined by your needs and the kind of tent camping you will be doing. If you will be hiking into the remote areas alone, you will not want to be lugging a great big family sized tent with you. This kind of tent camping requires an ultra lightweight, small one man mountain tent that will not take up much room in your backpack and not add much weight to your load. But if you are planning on taking the whole clan tent camping with you, you will need a big family sized tent. They even make them with separate rooms so you can have a little privacy after the kids go to sleep. Some kind of tent camping should appeal to anyone who likes to camp and likes to sleep in the outdoors.

Are you a parent? If you are, do you and your family enjoy camping? As fun and exciting as camping can be, it can be a little bit frustrating or stressful when you go camping with young children. With that in mind, there are a number of steps that you can take to ensure that your next camping trip, namely one with your young children, goes off without any problems.

One of the first things that you can do, when planning a camping trip with young children, is keep your children in mind. While this may seem like common sense, it is important to do. For starters, you will want to examine where you will be camping. This includes the campground park that you choose to visit, as well as which camping spot you choose. Since younger children can easily get bored, you will want to choose a campground park that gives you access to an unlimited number of activities, such as one that has a lake, swimming pool, playground, tennis courts, or hiking trails.

As previously stated, it is also important that you carefully choose which site you and your family would like to camp at, in the campground park. This is important for a number of different reasons. It may be a good idea to choose a camping site that is located close to any playgrounds or bathrooms. It may also be a good idea to stay away from camping sites that are close to swimming pools, lakes, ponds, or hiking trails, especially if you have small children. Keeping them away for potential dangers may help to allow you to sleep better at night, as well as help you enjoy yourself more.

Another one of the many ways that you can make your next camping trip with young children enjoyable is by letting your children help you plan some of your camping activities. For instance, your toddler or elementary school aged child may have a number of activities that they like to do, like playing soccer. Let them choose a few of your camping activities. This will help to keep them excited about your next camping trip, as they still get to do many of the things that they love. It is also important to mention that your child will likely be proud of the fact that they got to help you plan your next family vacation.

In keeping with letting your child help you plan your next camping vacation, you may also want to let your child choose some of the foods, snacks, and drinks that you bring along with you on your next camping adventure. In fact, you may even want to let them go shopping with you. Once again, this will create a proud feeling for your child. It will also prevent that "I don't want to eat that," speech that many children often give their parents when they are unable to help plan their meals or pick out their own foods.

The above mentioned tips are tips that you may find helpful, when looking to plan a camping trip with young children. Although it may sound a little bit hard to plan a camping trip with young children, once you are on the campground, it is likely that everyone, including your child or children, will have a blast.
