SAFETY FIRST!

Make sure to wash your hands before starting the project. And remember to HAVE FUN!

Materials Needed

Straws

Tape or glue dots

Plastic pipettes (or straws with a larger diameter than the other set of straws)

Markers, crayons, or colored pencils

Scissors

Free rocket template (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-cVjZBMBNNXUVZfX0RLd2ZycWs/view

What to Do

Gather all your materials

Print out the free rocket template – color the rockets and cut them out

Cut the bottom off the plastic pipette and attach it to the back of the rocket using tape or glue dots – if you don’t have plastic pipettes use a straw instead (make sure the straw is larger than the straw you will be using for launching)

Cut the straw to fit the length of the rocket and tape one end shut so it’s completely sealed. Attach it to your rocket with glue dots or tape.

Slip the straw into the pipette (or larger straw) and you’re ready to launch!

Give your straw a big puff of air and watch it launch!

First, we’re going to decorate our recycled rolls. Make it look however you want it to look.

While waiting for the glue to dry, cut 3 pieces of card. They should be about 2.5 cm wide and fit into the roll up to the clear plastic circle (I like to cut mine bigger and longer than they need to be so I can trim them after). Once cut, try to fit the cardboard into the roll – all 3 should fit forming a triangle. Trim if necessary.

Lay a piece of tin foil flat on the table. Squeeze glue on one side of the card board and lay flat on the tinfoil. Let dry.

Take your translucent beads and place inside roll on top of the plastic circle (on the side of the circle that is closer to the top of the roll). Place just enough beads so that they can still move around and the circle is not completely covered. Glue the second clear plastic circle on top of the beads to keep them inside. Let dry.

Cut tin foil around the card board pieces so that one side of each piece is completely covered. Glue pieces of cardboard together into a triangle with the tin foil facing inwards. Let dry.

Fit triangle into the tube.

Hold the kaleidoscope to the light, look inside and shake up the beads!

MATERIALS NEEDED:

1/2 cup Clear PVA School Glue

1 tablespoon Contact Solution (must contain boric acid and sodium borate)

1/2 cup of Water

1/2 tsp Baking Soda

Food coloring, confetti, glitter, and other fun mix-ins

WHAT TO DO:

STEP 1: To a bowl add 1/2 cup of glue and mix with 1/2 cup of water.

STEP 2: Add coloring and glitter! The more glitter the better. Start with one drop of color. It goes a long way! Mix

STEP 3: Add 1/2 TSP of baking soda {helps firm the slime} and mix.

STEP 4: Add 1 TBL of solution. Again make sure that your solution contains boric acid and sodium borate. These are the slime activators.

STEP 5: Really whip it up to mix and you will feel the slime come together!

STEP 6: Once you have mixed it up well, you want to knead it well! Squirt a couple drops of solution onto your hands and pull the slime out of the bowl. You will notice that it is sticky at first but the more you knead it the less sticky it gets.

STEP 7: Time to play and learn! Slime is science too! You can store your slime in a reusable container. Wash hands and surfaces thoroughly after making and playing with slime.

Is slime a liquid or solid? We call it a Non-newtonian fluid because it’s a little bit of both!
