<p><strong>Job:</strong> Research Assistant (full-time, one year contract)</p>
<p>Wellesley Institute is a population health research and public policy institute committed to improving the health of urban populations. We are looking for a research assistant who is looking for opportunities to learn and to be challenged.</p>
<p><span id="more-15482"></span></p>
<p>Reporting to the Director of Economic Analysis, much of your work will be focused on income inequality and public finance, and will include analyzing and reporting on complex fiscal social policy issues.</p>
<p><strong>Tasks will include:</strong><br /> -conducting literature searches, article reviews, inter-jurisdictional comparisons and preparing summaries of findings<br /> -managing and analyzing quantitative data sets<br /> -providing logistical support for research projects and public events<br /> -working with directors and communications staff in organizing events and disseminating research results<br /> -working with external stakeholders and partners to obtain input of feedback on research<br /> -Undertaking analytical research projects under the direction of senior staff</p>
<p><strong>Required skills:</strong><br /> -undergraduate university degree or equivalent<br /> -good working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Power Point to prepare presentations, spreadsheets, and reports<br /> -excellent attention to detail and accuracy<br /> -strong analytical, communications, and organizational skills<br /> -interest in quantitative data analysis<br /> -experience in navigating Statistics Canada website and familiarity with data products would be an asset<br /> -interest in advocacy and knowledge of social determinants of health<br /> -knowledge and understanding of municipal (or provincial) social and fiscal policy would be an asset<br /> -ability to work independently or in a team setting</p>

We are looking for an independent, creative, hard-working and tech savvy intern who is looking for an opportunity to learn, to be challenged, and to make a contribution to our communications practice.<span id="more-15468"></span> The communications intern can expect to work closely with the communications manager to disseminate Wellesley Institute work, to provide logistical support for events and activities, help develop social media and new media strategies and campaigns, perform traditional media tasks including press releases, website updates, copywriting, and complete small design projects and other tasks as assigned.</p>
<p>32 hours/week $15/hour</p>
<p>The internship runs from July 8-Dec 20, 2013</p>

<p><b>Call for  “Young Artists Exhibition”! </b><br /> This exhibition will feature works from Toronto’s finest artists between the ages of 13 and 18 years old.  The Moniker Gallery is offering young artists the unique opportunity to show their works in a gallery setting.  The exhibition will include an evening opening reception with food and entertainment and one week of public gallery hours.  The exhibition will give the budding artist exposure, prepare them for future gallery settings and motivate them towards furthering their exploration of the arts.</p>

<p><b>How does it work?</b><br /> The artist must fill out the application form and email it to <a href="mailto:yae@monikergallery.ca" target="_blank">yae@monikergallery.ca</a>  on or before May 26<sup>th</sup>.  If you have yet to receive your application form please email <a href="mailto:yae@monikergallery.ca" target="_blank">yae@monikergallery.ca</a>  to request one to be sent to you.  The gallery will review all applications and reply to selected artists on or before May 26th.  Selected artists are permitted to hang up to two pieces that do not exceed a total of 6 x 6 feet.   Applicants are not limited to any specific genre.  The exhibition will take place from June 08<sup>th</sup> – 14<sup>th</sup>.</p>

<p>The Moniker Gallery presents a series of collaborative multi-media exhibitions!  In celebration of the vast local and national talent, each gallery exhibition will include an opening reception with food and entertainment and one week of public gallery hours.</p>

<p><b>Who Can Apply?</b><br />
The Moniker Gallery Exhibition Series is accepting applications of every artistic Genre.  Anything and everything from paint to photography to sculpture to video art.  Keep in mind the application deadline is May 18th.  To receive your application package email <a href="mailto:exhibitionseries@monikergallery.ca" target="_blank">exhibitionseries@<wbr />monikergallery.ca</a></p>
<p>The exhibition will run from May 30<sup>th</sup> – June 05<sup>th</sup>.</p>
<p><b>Do I have to be from Toronto to apply? </b><br />
Absolutely not.  Although Moniker is located in Toronto, the exhibition series aims to showcase both National and local talent.</p>
<p><b>Does the Moniker Gallery take commission on sold works? </b><br />
During the Moniker Gallery Exhibition Series, the Moniker Gallery will NOT take commission on sold works.  Therefore the money will go directly to the artists.</p>
<p><b>Is there a fee? </b><br />
Selected artists will pay a $100 + hst hanging fee.  This fee goes towards covering the gallery rental, catering and staffing.</p>

We have the entire top floor of the Riverdale Hub, a spacious and beautiful venue in Little India. A gallery space will hold art created specifically for this event. Each piece is a visual representation of a song, and those songs will all be performed live during the event!</p>

<p><em>Trinity Square Video is looking for a dynamic Programming Director to envision, lead and manage the implementation of programming at TSV, one of Canada&#8217;s leading artist-run centres dedicated to the creation, exhibition and educational possibilities of Video Art.</em></p>

<p><strong>THE POSITION</strong></p>
<p>Trinity Square Video&#8217;s Programming Director is responsible for conceiving, developing and implementing the vision and focus of the organization through exhibition initiatives both on site and off. The Programming Director plays a leading role in creating a programming vision for the centre and has a strong and demonstrated background in the theoretical, technical and practical aspects of Video Art and gallery installation. The Programming Director ensures that the programming reflects the values of the organization.</p>
<p>The Programming Director is responsible for selecting and working with artists in TSV Gallery&#8217;s exhibitions, the Themed Commission Program, Master Classes, Artist Talks and Panels with the support of the Programming Committee. TSV&#8217;s scope in the arts community and public is enhanced by the Programming Director&#8217;s ability to connect to other arts organizations to build TSV&#8217;s audience. Dedicated to creating skilled artists, TSV offers workshops throughout the year which the Programming Director will take a lead role in developing.</p>
<p><strong>TSV MANDATE</strong></p>
<p>Trinity Square Video is a not-for-profit centre that provides artists and community organizations with video production/post-production support and services at accessible rates. Here since 1971, TSV is committed to providing a broad spectrum of services related to video: workshops, screenings, gallery exhibitions, artist residencies festival sponsorships and community partnerships.</p>
<p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>A Master of Fine Arts degree from an accredited university program or the equivalent combination of arts education and experience and formal training in arts/cultural management.</li>
<li>Proficiency in technologies needed for Video production/installation (Final Cut Pro, AfterEffects, Adobe Premiere).</li>
<li>Curatorial experience.</li>
<li>Writing skills.</li>
<li>Exhibition installing experience.</li>
<li>Familiarity with Canadian art scene, particularly Video Art.</li>
<li>Experience in design software: Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop.</li>
<li>Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.</li>
<li>French and/or other languages an asset.</li>
<li>Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with public and staff and to represent Trinity as a dynamic resource to the community.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>HOURS</strong><br />
TSV opening hours are Monday to Friday from 10 to 6pm. Meetings, events and duties outside gallery hours contribute to a work week of 28 hours.</p>
<p><strong>SALARY</strong><br />
Renewable, 10-month contract + health and dental benefits.<br />

<p>In April, MusicOntario announced Sound Off! &#8211; Ontario, an exciting project that will have us traveling across the province to discover the needs of local music communities. In each city, we&#8217;ll be holding public events for artists &amp; industry to tell us who they are and what they do, as well as how we can help!</p>

<p><strong>Job Overview</strong></p>
<p>This is a one year maternity leave relief position.</p>
<p><strong>Grants/Gifts:</strong></p>
<p>Develops, in consultation with the Vice President, Development, an annual plan and targets for grants from Federal, Provincial and Municipal agencies, as well as Private, Corporate and Community based foundations plan. The plan will support the development and funding of potential exhibitions, programs, and capital needs for support, and will link funding needs to potential supporters. Develops a calendar of deadlines for funding opportunities across all known funding sources. Continually updates this calendar as new sources are introduced.</p>
<p><span id="more-15327"></span></p>
<p>Develops awareness of granting criteria and priorities amongst various funders and actively pursues funding where Glenbow fits with these criteria and priorities.</p>
<p>Develops awareness of all Glenbow&#8217;s programs, projects and exhibitions in order to match potential grants with inventory.</p>
<p>Develops a chart that provides relevant information for all granting agencies and sources and provides this information for all Glenbow staff so that they can bring forward appropriate projects for application. Prepares grant applications, in consultation with appropriate Glenbow staff, and in accordance with the requirements of granting organizations.</p>
<p>Serves as grants liaison between Glenbow and granting agencies and foundations. Develops positive relationships with these organizations on behalf of Glenbow. Consults with agencies as required to ensure grant applications are developed effectively and revised according to feedback.</p>
<p>Develops effective and consistent processes for grant applications, confirmation of receipt of funding, follow up and stewardship.</p>
<p>Ensures grant requirements are fulfilled according to foundation policy guidelines. Prepares reports for granting agencies as required.</p>
<p>Ensures all information on foundations and granting agencies is input and kept up-to-date in Raiser&#8217;s Edge. Works collaboratively with the fund development team to ensure accuracy and currency of information.</p>
<p>Works with Finance to ensure proper and accurate financial information is recorded, tracked and filed in reports to granting agencies and foundations.</p>
<p>Development Communications:</p>
<p>Develops a comprehensive communication plan and targets for all dimensions of the Development portfolio. Coordinates this plan with the Marketing and Communications team.</p>
<p>Develops a calendar of Development related events, mailings and programs and identifies related communications requirements. Integrates this calendar with Glenbow&#8217;s overall communications and marketing timelines, and ensures that Development contributions to Glenbow publications (i.e. Calendar of Events, program brochures, signage) are on target.</p>
<p>Develops and implements templates and related processes for key communications requirements, including proposals, contracts, stewardship reports, and other items as required.</p>
<p>Drafts communication pieces as required by the Development team. This includes proposals, letters, contracts, stewardship reports, invitations, electronic and print materials for giving programs and events, and other items as required.</p>
<p>Develops the content for Development related newsletters. Ensures coordination between mailing and newsletter software.</p>
<p>Oversees the Development presence on Glenbow&#8217;s website. Ensures content remains up-to-date and updates content as required. Liaises with Glenbow&#8217;s technical web designer as required.</p>
<p>Ensures appropriate donor recognition on Glenbow website, brochures, invitations, signage and other collateral. Develops creative briefs as required for Development initiatives. Provides requirements for print and electronic communications collateral to internal and external designers.</p>
<p>Acts as the liaison between the Development Team and the Marketing &amp; Communications team. Attends weekly Marketing &amp; Communications team meetings to ensure integration.</p>
<p>Performs other duties as assigned.</p>
<p><strong>Essential Requirements:</strong></p>
<p>The typical minimum level of education to perform this job competently is equivalent to completion of a university (bachelor) program involving acquisition of an advanced understanding of complex concepts and procedures in an area of work related to assigned duties. This specialized training is often recognized by a degree.</p>
<p>Directly/indirectly related work experience representing continuous learning and required for someone to perform this job competently is two to three years.</p>
<p>Ongoing work assignments typically have clearly defined goals. The incumbent&#8217;s education, training, and previous experience ensure work assignments are successfully carried out because he/she understands what is expected, as well as the best approach to take.</p>
