Today they released a policy position paper that you can <a href="http://p2pnet.net/story/8648">read here</a> or download as a PDF from the CMCC's site. <br /><br />The purpose of the paper is to give voice to the songwriters and musicians themselves, who they feel "have been squeezed out of the copyright discussions." They are tired of hearing music industry lobbyists and record company legal teams speak on their behalf, so they have taken the matter into their own hands. Probably the most significant tenet within the coalition's philosophy is their take on DRM: <br /><br />Digital locks, and laws protecting them, are risky and counterproductive. Most Canadian labels do not use digital locks when distributing artists' music. However, some labels, particularly major foreign labels, wish to increase their control over Canadian artists and music consumers. Artists themselves are given little or no choice over the use of digital locks by labels. If given a choice, most artists would rather allow consumers the flexibility to determine how and when they enjoy the music they buy. <br /><br />They go on to cite the Sony/BMG debacle as an example of how DRM hurts record sales. They also take a stand against all of the lawsuits being filed against P2P file traders, saying that "suing our fans is destructive and hypocritical." At the end of the document, they ask the Canadian labels and the government to work to protect Canadian artists, and to help promote support mechanisms like the <a href="http://www.pch.gc.ca/cmf-music/">Canadian Music Fund</a>. <br /><br />Bravo for them. Sworn enemies Sheila Copps and Stephen Harper applauding Brian Mulroney -- all in the same room!<br /><br />So apparently Mulroney is our Greenest Prime Minister. I guess they had to find something nice to say about him. Or maybe they were just referring to his better (Irish) half? <br /><img src="http://www.lestudio1.com/sitebuilder/images/Brian_Mulroney33-256x360.jpg" align="absmiddle" width="256" height="360" border="0"><br />Mulroney couldn't resist boring everyone with old Regan Stories and memories of "Irish Eyes are Smiling" humming in our ears. But beneath all the niceitudes it was more like one last kick at the can to rewrite history for Canada's most despised Prime Minister . <br /><br />A decade or so ago Muldoney considered Harpoon a turncoat fanatic as he led Reform's coo that split the conservative vote and burned Brian in effigy. But today we find a resurrected Harper hailed as the saviour of conservatism and handing him an award, whilst Bri' spoke warm and fuzzy words of affection into the ear of his good old buddy Steve.<br /><br />My how the times are-a-changing. Is it any wonder why I love (gag) politicians. With all the interloculatory jockeying, many (like the <a href="like the Edmonton Sun">Edmonton Sun</a>) are predicting it to be short and sweet. </p><p>My bet is less than a year but not any time soon. I don’t believe the Libs will try to take them down without first electing a leader. Unlike Pierre Trudeau's Canada, the Mexican state is into everyone's bedroom, and the cops, and...<br /><br />Prominent criminal lawyer Greenspan has lashed out at Vicente Fox saying the Mexican president should not have <a href="http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/national/2006/03/31/greenspan-060331.html?ref=rss">interfered with the investigation</a> into the slaying of a Canadian couple at a Cancun-area resort. <blockquote>"No president of a state should get involved," Edward Greenspan said during a news conference in Toronto. "No president should give marching orders to the police." <br /><br />"This investigation has turned into some form of political football," he said. "It will be impossible to reach a fair conclusion." <br /><br />He added that Mexican authorities have "botched" the investigation, and accused Fox of compromising the probe to the point that it would be difficult to find the real murderer. The Mexican president seemed more interested in protecting the tourist industry than in finding the person responsible for the crime. </blockquote> <blockquote><b>Related links:</b> <a class=techtag href="http://technorati.com/tag/news+and+politics" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=news+and+politics&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=instabloke.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">news and politics</a>, <a class=techtag href="http://technorati.com/tag/politics" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=politics&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=instabloke.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">politics</a>, <a class=techtag href="http://technorati.com/tag/political" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=political&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=instabloke.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">political</a>, <a class=techtag href="http://technorati.com/tag/canada" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=canada&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=instabloke.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">canada</a>, <a class=techtag href="http://technorati.com/tag/canadian" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=canadian&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=instabloke.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">canadian</a>, <a class=techtag href="http://technorati.com/tag/canadian+news" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=canadian+news&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=instabloke.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">canadian news</a>, <a class=techtag href="http://technorati.com/tag/canadian-news" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=canadian-news&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=instabloke.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">canadian-news</a>, <a class=techtag href="http://technorati.com/tag/canada+news" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=canada+news&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=instabloke.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">canada news</a>, <a class=techtag href="http://technorati.com/tag/canada-news" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=canada-news&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=instabloke.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">canada-news</a>, <a class=techtag href="http://technorati.com/tag/canadian+politics" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=canadian+politics&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=instabloke.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">canadian politics</a>, <a class=techtag href="http://technorati.com/tag/canadian-politics" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=canadian-politics&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=instabloke.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">canadian-politics</a>, <a class=techtag href="http://technorati.com/tag/mexico" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=mexico&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=instabloke.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">mexico</a></blockquote>Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20850484.post-1141722276821729872006-03-07T01:04:00.000-08:002006-03-29T00:36:25.053-08:00Sorry you haven't heard from me latelyI've been busy tweaking and doing maintenance on my blog templates. The only reason the Tories won is because Canadians thought it was time for a change. Or in other words -- it was a protest vote against the Liberals.<br /><br />Canadian Pundit has seen this happen before, and the populace usually ends up regretting it. We recall the time when Ontario swung wildly over to the NDP. Whoa! The sour taste of that bitter lemon still lingers.<br /><br />Apparently only 41 per cent said they were voting for Stephen Harper's party because they wanted a Conservative government, compared to 54 per cent who said they were casting their ballots just for the sake of change. The remaining five per cent didn't even know why they were voting Conservative or did not answer the question. <br /><br /><blockquote>"They have to be careful about taking a very different direction for the country," Donna Dasko, the senior vice-president of Environics Research Group, said of Harper's incoming minority government. <br /><br />"The support they gained is not support for radical change."</blockquote>Heh, don't count on it bud. Could it be that he is banking on the other parties not having any stomach for another election in the near future? <br /><br />Will that mean he plans to come out of the block swinging instead of slow and cautious? Perhaps he knows this may be his brief moment in the sun and he intends to make the best of it. <br /><br />Instead of waiting for the Liberals to regroup or a majority mandate next election, maybe he will go for the jugular now. <br /><br />Should be interesting.<br /><br /><div align="center">...related posts: <span style="font-size:78%;"><a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/in+the+news" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=in+the+news&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">in the news</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/news+headlines" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=news+headlines&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">news headlines</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/headline+news" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=headline+news&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">headline news</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/current+events" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=current+events&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">current events</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/opinion" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=opinion&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">opinion</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/news+and+politics" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=news+and+politics&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">news and politics</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/politics" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=politics&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">politics</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/political" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=political&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">political</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/canada" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=canada&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">canada</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/canadian+election+2006" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=fcanadian+election+2006" ie="'UTF-8&ui=" bl_url="canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=" y="10">canadian election 2006</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/canadian+election" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=canadian+election&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">canadian election</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/stephen+harper" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=stephen+harper&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">stephen harper</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/western+canada" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=western+canada&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">western canada</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/canadian+politics" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=canadian+politics&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">canadian politics</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/canadian+pundit" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=canadian+pundit&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">canadian pundit</a></span></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09257660277671653398noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20850484.post-1138226499528807962006-01-25T14:01:00.000-08:002006-03-15T11:30:26.016-08:00Stephen Harper is Ready to Rebuild Canada<h3>You wanted change Canada? Brace yourself!<br /></h3>The <a href="http://www.cbc.ca/story/canadavotes2006/national/2006/01/24/harper-statement060124.html">CBC</a> reports that Harper is ready to start "rebuilding this great country".<br /><br />Call me paranoid but I read a lot into those words. The word 'rebuild' implies that the country is broken. It also implies that there are going to be a lot of changes to fix those broken parts.<br /><br /><blockquote>On Monday night, Harper promised to get to work implementing his top campaign priorities. He said his first act in Parliament will be to propose a federal accountability act. <br /><br />That will be followed by his plan to cut the GST, provide a child-care allowance to families, toughen criminal sentencing and establish a patient wait-time guarantee, he said.</blockquote>He also said in a <a href="http://www.cbc.ca/edmonton/story/ed-election-west20060125.html">speech today</a> that "the West has wanted in, the West is in now".<blockquote>Premier Ralph Klein said Tuesday the new Conservative government will give Western Canada a stronger voice in Ottawa. He said he spoke to Harper before the election and outlined some of Alberta's priorities: opposition to the Kyoto accord and support for an elected Senate.<br /><br />"From my perspective, I think that we'll have a government that is more receptive to the views of Western Canada, but hopefully receptive to the views of all Canadians," he said.<br /><br />Jason Clemens, director of fiscal studies at the Vancouver-based Fraser Institute, said a lot of people in Western Canada have a long shopping list.</blockquote>That should mean more representation in the cabinet as well as the senate. <blockquote>Analysts and Conservative MPs say that even with a minority government, Harper should be able to get some of his campaign promises done.<br /><br />"I just don't think that the opposition parties now are going to be rushing to the polls or forcing an election," Calgary Centre MP Lee Richardson said. "I think Stephen Harper is going to be able to carry out his agenda.<br /><br />"It's an agenda we laid before the Canadian public. There's no hidden agenda here."</blockquote><h3>That word "agenda" sounds more ominously like payback to me.</h3><div align="center">...related posts: <span style="font-size:78%;"><a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/in+the+news" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=in+the+news&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">in the news</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/news+headlines" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=news+headlines&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">news headlines</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/headline+news" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=headline+news&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">headline news</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/current+events" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=current+events&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">current events</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/opinion" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=opinion&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">opinion</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/news+and+politics" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=news+and+politics&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">news and politics</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/politics" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=politics&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">politics</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/political" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=political&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">political</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/canada" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=canada&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">canada</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/canadian+election+2006" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=fcanadian+election+2006" ie="'UTF-8&ui=" bl_url="canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=" y="10">canadian election 2006</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/canadian+election" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=canadian+election&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">canadian election</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/stephen+harper" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=stephen+harper&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">stephen harper</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/paul+martin" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=paul+martin&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">paul martin</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/western+canada" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=western+canada&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">western canada</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/canadian+politics" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=canadian+politics&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">canadian politics</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/canadian+pundit" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=canadian+pundit&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">canadian pundit</a></span></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09257660277671653398noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20850484.post-1138207420481547242006-01-25T08:43:00.000-08:002006-01-25T10:02:10.893-08:00Why Stephen Harper Won the ElectionJeff Sallot of the <a href="http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20060123.welsallot0123/BNStory/specialDecision2006/">Globe and Mail</a> makes a convoluted case about Paul Martin blowing the campaign and Stephen Harper's successful makeover of himself and party.<br /><br />On a superficial level hindsight is always 20/20. But I prefer to think the Tories won simply because the timing was right for a change. People were fed up with Liberal corruption and wanted to make a statement.<br /><br />It's all about timing and Harper was in the right place at the right time. He won by default. It's really that simple.<br /><br /><a href="javascript:scroll(0,0)"><img height="32" alt="Top of Page" src="http://members.shaw.ca/advocare/images/top-page.gif" width="32" align="right" border="0" /></a> <div align="center">...related posts: <span style="font-size:78%;"><a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/in+the+news" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=in+the+news&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">in the news</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/news+headlines" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=news+headlines&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">news headlines</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/headline+news" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=headline+news&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">headline news</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/current+events" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=current+events&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">current events</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/opinion" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=opinion&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">opinion</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/news+and+politics" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=news+and+politics&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">news and politics</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/politics" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=politics&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">politics</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/political" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=political&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">political</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/canada" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=canada&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">canada</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/canadian+election+2006" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=fcanadian+election+2006" ie="'UTF-8&ui=" bl_url="canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=" y="10">canadian election 2006</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/canadian+election" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=canadian+election&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">canadian election</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/stephen+harper" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=stephen+harper&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">stephen harper</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/paul+martin" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=paul+martin&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">paul martin</a></span></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09257660277671653398noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20850484.post-1138120117140844362006-01-24T08:28:00.000-08:002006-01-26T20:56:07.173-08:00Paul Martin is Quitting? Many will say good riddance to bad rubbish. A few months ago I might have said the same thing. But strangely I'm feeling a little conflicted about it all. <br /><br />I can't help but feel a little sorry for the guy. A man who always wanted to be Prime Minister that ended with such a short tenure. Martin had to put up with so much nonsense from Chretien just to get the job and then had to carry all his left over baggage.<br /><br />He must feel very disappointed. But then again he's got that nice juicy pension and his offshore businesses to console him.<br /><br /><a href="javascript:scroll(0,0)"><img height="32" alt="Top of Page" src="http://members.shaw.ca/advocare/images/top-page.gif" width="32" align="right" border="0" /></a> <div align="center">...related posts: <span style="font-size:78%;"><a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/in+the+news" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=in+the+news&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">in the news</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/news+headlines" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=news+headlines&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">news headlines</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/headline+news" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=headline+news&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">headline news</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/current+events" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=current+events&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">current events</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/opinion" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=opinion&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">opinion</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/news+and+politics" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=news+and+politics&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">news and politics</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/politics" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=politics&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">politics</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/political" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=political&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">political</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/canada" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=canada&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">canada</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/canadian+election+2006" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=fcanadian+election+2006" ie="'UTF-8&ui=" bl_url="canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=" y="10">canadian election 2006</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/canadian+election" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=canadian+election&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">canadian election</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/stephen+harper" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=stephen+harper&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">stephen harper</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/paul+martin" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=paul+martin&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">paul martin</a></span></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09257660277671653398noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20850484.post-1138119366838361852006-01-24T08:16:00.000-08:002006-02-13T01:57:04.773-08:00Will Stephen Harper Make a Good Prime Minister?<h3>Flora Forbes writes:</h3><i>"I find it abhoring to read <a href="http://canadian-pundit.blogspot.com/2006/01/stephen-harpers-unauthorized-biography.html">such an article</a> about Stephen Harper. It is not truthful.<br /> <br />I am disgusted with such dispar(a)ging and untruthful remarks about Stephen Harper who has integrity and the capability to bring very necessary change to our government.<br /> <br />Who are you to make such judgements? I am overjoyed that Stephen Harper is our new Prime Minister!</i>"<br /><br /><h3>This is my Response:</h3>Thank you for your email Flora. You ask who am I? I'm a Canadian who has an opinion that's who. Just as you are entitled to yours no matter how misguided that may be. ;-)<br /><br />I live by a simple philosophy. I don't blindly put my faith in other people and play follow the leader like all the other <a href="http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=deskbar&q=define:lemming">lemmings</a>. No matter what title we give them or which side of the political spectrum we may find ourselves, the simple fact is our 'leaders' are just people. Deeply flawed and mortal no different than you and me.<br /><br />I reserve the right to kick our so-called 'leaders' in the ass no matter what their political affiliation where and when I see fit. Thank God we live in a country where we can still speak our mind and keep these so-called 'leaders' in line.<br /><br />All Praise be to Stephen Harper! Knowing that he could also face another election in the near future he will do his darndest to play it safe, keep the idiots out of the limelight and avoid the controversial issues.<br /><br />So all you evangelicals who thought you were voting for a Christian-based government, don't hold your breath. It could be dangerous to your health.<br /><br />What can we expect in the near future? Sheer boredom I suspect. Don't expect much change. Middle of the road and more of the same, except for some attempts at tax changes and the usual conservative slash and burn. But that will be difficult with the NDP holding the keys to the kingdom.<br /><br />Most certainly Harper will reserve the real hardcore reformer stuff until (or if) he has garnered the majority vote next election. Which shouldn't be long. Until then don't expect to see the <a href="http://canadian-pundit.blogspot.com/2006/01/harper-talks-like-its-already-in-bag.html">real Stephen Harper stand up</a>.<br /><br />The interesting part will be to see how Harper and Layton can keep the government afloat. Talk about a pair of mismatched misfits. Knowing how headstrong Harper is, he will be in for the challenge of his life. It will be good for him to learn a few mediation skills.<br /><br />Down the road don't be surprised to see the Conservatives and Liberals becoming bedfellows after the NDP fall out of favour. Then again if Paul Martin is still at the helm he will be chomping at the bit for another kick at the can. And at his age he doesn't have much time to wait. No doubt his ratings will govern how quickly he throws down the gauntlet.<br /><br />What's that you say? What about the BLOC? Nuff said.<br /><br />How long do I expect this government to last? Not very long that's for sure. Unless Harper has a lombotamy I don't expect him to tiptoe around parliament that long before he throws a tantrum and his house of cards folds around him. But then again I'm told that miracles still happen.<br /><br />A word of advice. Don't tune into the parliamentary channel just yet. Yawn.<br /><br /><a href="javascript:scroll(0,0)"><img height="32" alt="Top of Page" src="http://members.shaw.ca/advocare/images/top-page.gif" width="32" align="right" border="0" /></a> <div align="center">...related posts: <span style="font-size:78%;"><a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/in+the+news" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=in+the+news&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">in the news</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/news+headlines" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=news+headlines&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">news headlines</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/headline+news" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=headline+news&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">headline news</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/current+events" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=current+events&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">current events</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/opinion" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=opinion&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">opinion</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/news+and+politics" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=news+and+politics&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">news and politics</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/politics" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=politics&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">politics</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/political" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=political&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">political</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/canada" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=canada&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">canada</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/canadian+election+2006" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=fcanadian+election+2006" ie="'UTF-8&ui=" bl_url="canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=" y="10">canadian election 2006</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/canadian+election" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=canadian+election&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">canadian election</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/stephen+harper" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=stephen+harper&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">stephen harper</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/paul+martin" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=paul+martin&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">paul martin</a></span></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09257660277671653398noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20850484.post-1138072486879280132006-01-23T19:14:00.000-08:002006-01-24T10:51:00.586-08:00Harper Reforms Canada!Harper has <a href="http://www.cbc.ca/story/canadavotes2006/national/2006/01/23/mainelecstory060123.html">won the election</a>, and all that I can say is thank God it's a <a href="http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20060123.welmain0123_2/BNStory/specialDecision2006/">minority government</a> because 4 years is far too long to wait until the next election.<br /><br />But seriously, congratulations to my old bud Stephen and I'm looking forward to <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fisking">fisking</a> you over your tenure. Are we that pissed off with Liberal corruption to risk a radical change in Canadian policy? <br /><br />2. To err is to be human. Are we that gullible to believe the Tories would be any better if they were in power?<br /><br />3. Is the new Conservative Party very different from it's Reform and Alliance roots? <br /><br />4. Is Stephen Harper made of the right stuff to be Prime Minister and lead the government?<br /><br />5. Or should we just toss our decision to the wind and let the chips fall where they may?</b><br /><br />Remember all those Reformers who campaigned on a new style of government and were going to opt-out of fat MP pensions, but were only too happy to take the cheque later? Hypocrites. <br /><br />Many of them are still around including Harper. Unless they can make claim to being born again I'm a firm believer that leopards don't change their spots.<br /><br />A politician is a politician is a politician. They will all sell you out in the end. So don't kid yourself that Harper will be your saviour from the evil Liberals. Just ask <a href="http://www.keithmartin.org/">Keith Martin</a>.<br /><br />Am I being too harsh? Trust me when I say I'm no Paul Martin fan. I believe that he is another first-rate hypocrite. For anyone to have the temerity to be in charge of taxing us whilst hiding his businesses offshore to avoid paying taxes is more than I can bare. And I don't appreciate his flip-flops on the constitution or his stance on a lot of social issues either.<br /><br />BUT I will also say that he did inherit a lot of trouble from Chretien and he can't take the rap for it all. Nor has he been given the opportunity for a full term in office to make amends.<br /><br />Having said that, for me the bottom line becomes a choice between the devil that we know and the devil that we don't. And there are just too many unknowns about Harper for my liking. <br /><br />I believe that he needs to mature as a person and as opposition leader, as well as be more forthcoming with his personal views. Then I will reconsider him (maybe next election if he's still around). Another Liberal minority government will be preferable as far as I'm concerned.<br /><br />The <a href="http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/LAC.20060120.ELXNHARPER20/TPStory">Globe and Mail</a> reports that Stephen Harper's lead is waning because he has strayed from the script and his real agenda is slowly leaking out.<br /><br />Canadians are now reconsidering a Harper government as his recent slip-ups about a biased judiciary and human rights are coming to the fore. Quebec is also showing signs of backing off.<br /><br />Is it <a href="http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20060121.wmartin-0121/CommentStory/Front">deja vu 2004</a> all over again? Until the Tories can fully detach from their Reform roots there will always remain a stain on conservatism in Canada.<br /><br /><a href="javascript:scroll(0,0)"><img height="32" alt="Top of Page" src="http://members.shaw.ca/advocare/images/top-page.gif" width="32" align="right" border="0" /></a> <div align="center">...related posts: <span style="font-size:78%;"><a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/in+the+news" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=in+the+news&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">in the news</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/news+headlines" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=news+headlines&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">news headlines</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/headline+news" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=headline+news&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">headline news</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/current+events" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=current+events&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">current events</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/opinion" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=opinion&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">opinion</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/news+and+politics" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=news+and+politics&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">news and politics</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/politics" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=politics&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">politics</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/political" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=political&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">political</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/canada" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=canada&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">canada</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/canadian+election+2006" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=fcanadian+election+2006" ie="'UTF-8&ui=" bl_url="canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=" y="10">canadian election 2006</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/canadian+election" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=canadian+election&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">canadian election</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/stephen+harper" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=stephen+harper&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">stephen harper</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/paul+martin" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=paul+martin&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">paul martin</a></span></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09257660277671653398noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20850484.post-1137618963379815942006-01-18T13:16:00.000-08:002006-02-13T02:05:35.836-08:00Stephen Harper's Unauthorized Biography<a href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6993/1823/1600/stephen_harper_hat.jpg"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6993/1823/320/stephen_harper_hat.jpg" width="200" height="260" border="0" alt="Hi. I'm Stephen Harper. There's a new Sheriff in town"/></a><h3>The man who would be Prime Minister of Canada:</h3>Now that it looks like Stephen Harper <a href="http://canadian-pundit.blogspot.com/2006/01/harper-talks-like-its-already-in-bag.html">may became Canada's next chief executive officer</a> let's have a closer look shall we.<br /><br />According to his <a href="http://www.conservative.ca/EN/1002/">official biography</a>, Harper has never accomplished anything that could be construed as being even remotely Prime Ministerial. Let me explain.<br /><br /><i>"He went on to work as a members assistant and policy advisor before being elected to Parliament in 1993."</i><br /><br />What that really means is he was a clerk for Reform MP Deborah Grey and Preston Manning's water boy until he was elected an MP by the right-wing riding of Calgary. <h3>The Power Chase</h3> Like many of his peers he appears to have little real world experience. <a href="http://www.garylunn.ca/">Paper lawyers</a> I call them. Barely out of law school and before the ink has dried on their diplomas, they flaunt their credentials as a stepping stone into a political career without having seen the inside of a court room.<br /><br />But according to Stephen it is apparently to his advantage not being a lawyer himself. Rather, he is an economics major who's primary purpose in life after graduating was to become a professional politician and snort at the public trough. Lucky us.<br /><br />And he wants to be the leader our country! Is it any wonder our fair land is so screwed up. <h3>Job Description: Prime Minister of Canada</h3> No experience necessary. Just a lot of drive, ambition and gall.<br /><br />So what else are you going to do with an economics degree? Get a real job as a bank clerk? Hell no, when you can walk away with a multi-million dollar pension at the taxpayers' expense.<br /><br />His press would have us believe otherwise. That he is a man who would become king by accident or even grudgingly. But nobody just falls into that role by happenchance.<br /><br />I'm still waiting to see that enormous intellect Harper keeps touting. Obviously he believes in the old adage - tell a lie long enough and it will eventually be accepted as truth.<br /><br />For crying out loud if you really are that smart you shouldn't have to brag about it. In case he doesn't know it, humility goes a long way and speaks volumes about character.<br /><br />So I'll put it into simple terms for ya bud. Bragging = arrogance (and belies a serious insecurity complex). And you're not even in power yet, so what can we expect if you do get it. I shudder at the thought. <h3>Time Heals a Multitide of Sins</h3> I will however give Harper credit where it is due. He has proven himself to be a skillful spin-doctor and successfully turned his weaknesses into an opportunity. And so far his <a href="http://www.conservative.ca/EN/1002/">propoganda</a> and <a href="http://www.dalecarnegie.com/search_courses/sem_desc.jsp?cCode=PSM">speech therapy lessons</a> seem to have paid off well for him.<br /><br /><i>"In 2002, Stephen Harper returned to Parliament as Leader of the Opposition and began laying the foundation for the re-unification of Canada's then-divided conservative movement."</i><br /><br />Hmmm. It's interesting how bio's can be sanitized over the passage of time. Does Joseph Goebbels ring a bell?<br /><br />Unless his alzheimer's has gotten worse, Harper will recall (Calgary 1993) poo-pooing on my ideas to reunite the parties. Ironic that he is now being heralded as the saviour of conservatism. And neither did he gave me any credit.<br /><br />The nerve of some politicians, calling themselves "honorable". That's why they say politics is a dirty game and I no longer play it. It's much more fun sitting on the sidelines exposing their dirty laundry.<br /><h3>Coup de' tat</h3> At least <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Harper">Wikipedia</a> is a little more forthcoming with the information (albeit still sanitized for our reading pleasure).<br /><br /><i>"When Stockwell Day bowed to pressure from within the Canadian Alliance and resigned from the leadership in the summer of 2001, Harper stood as a candidate in the subsequent leadership election."</i><br /><br />Meaning: Harper was behind the coup that ousted Day because he was too religious for his liking.<br /><br />So all you evangelicals out there who think that Harper is pro-Christian - think again. In fact all of us had better seriously contemplate this through because 4 years is a long time to regret.<br /><br />Oh, I know what you're thinking. If the U.S. can have an actor or a good ole son of a gun named Bush for President, why then not a clerk for Prime Minister?<br /><br />I gotta admit you got me there. But no matter how many custom made suits Harper buys, he still looks like a clerk to me.<br /><br />Stay tuned. There's lots more to come.<br /><br /><a href="javascript:scroll(0,0)"><img height="32" alt="Top of Page" src="http://members.shaw.ca/advocare/images/top-page.gif" width="32" align="right" border="0" /></a> <div align="center">...related posts: <span style="font-size:78%;"><a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/in+the+news" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=in+the+news&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">in the news</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/news+headlines" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=news+headlines&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">news headlines</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/headline+news" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=headline+news&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">headline news</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/current+events" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=current+events&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">current events</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/opinion" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=opinion&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">opinion</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/news+and+politics" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=news+and+politics&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">news and politics</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/politics" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=politics&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">politics</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/political" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=political&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">political</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/canada" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=canada&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">canada</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/canadian+election+2006" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=fcanadian+election+2006" ie="'UTF-8&ui=" bl_url="canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=" y="10">canadian election 2006</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/canadian+election" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=canadian+election&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">canadian election</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/stephen+harper" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=stephen+harper&ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">stephen harper</a> <a class="techtag" href="http://technorati.com/tag/paul+martin" rel="tag"></a><a href="http://search.blogger.com/?as_q=paul+martin&amp;amp;amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&ui=blg&bl_url=canadian-pundit.blogspot.com&x=40&y=10">paul martin</a></span></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09257660277671653398noreply@blogger.com7
