Price Matching Made Easy at Walmart

Price matching has saved me a lot of money over the last couple of years. All you have to do is show a competitor’s store flyer (cannot be online) advertising the exact same item you are buying and the store will honour the sale price. In Ontario, we can price match at No Frills, Freshco, Real Canadian Superstore, and Walmart. However, I have always found it easiest to price match at Walmart. They do not have a limit on price matched items (it’s two per item at the other stores) and they have an “overage” policy, which allows you to use a coupon worth more than the cost of the item. The price override at the checkout is fast and mostly hassle-free. When I’m not carrying my flyers with me, I’ll look for a cart with abandoned flyers and use those for price matching! But sometimes, you don’t need flyers at all. Just this week, the cashier asked me why I was price matching when my item was already scanning at the same price. Walmart had advertised 12 boxes of Kraft Dinner for $8.97 but they automatically price matched the No Frills sale price of $6.88. How cool is that?
