As some of his colleagues will already know, Dr. Simon Bell (Systems group) has recently returned to the University, after a 2 year sabbatical.

During his time away from the University, Simon has been involved in a number of projects and also took up the role of Director of the Bayswater institute (http://www.bayswaterinst.org/) for a time. On talking to Simon, it is clear that he has benefitted from the opportunity to exercise some of his theoretical work in a practical field – developing new approaches to using Systems thinking and practices.

Simon returns fully refreshed from his experiences and we thought it was a good opportunity to allow Simon to speak about what he got up to in his time away from us. Listen to the interview below for some really useful and interesting insights into Systemic practice.

The specifics of this talk centre around forum usage in several courses in the Technologies Undergraduate Programme. Jon also presented an argument for analysing forum data through the use of indices that are popular in ecological analysis.
