If you are shooting in cold temperature, before bringing it to a warm room temperature, makesure you wrap your digital camera in a plastic bag to prevent moisture from accumulating inside the camera.

If something you really unable for prevention, and your digital camera has affected by it. Then, just stay cool, and do your lens cleaning. If not, the fungus will affect your image quality and attack in the coating on your optics. The best way is don't do it yourself, unless you are expert on your digital camera. So, make it easy, send it to Canon Services Centre nearby for a professional cleaning. Again, if you are not sure whether you could do it, please don't do it yourself or learn from Dummies Book Series. Any of your minor mistake could damage your digital camera lens. Then it will cost you much more than you should.

Protect Your Cameras in Cold and Hot Weather

Few years ago, when I was having my business trip in Seoul which was in it mid winter time, I had experience that my Canon Digital Camera IXUS 60 model could not function well. The auto-len sometimes could not set up and stuck from the casing. It was really annoying when you found some beautiful or interesting scene, but you digital camera was not functioned. Then, I started suspecting it was caused by the cold weather in Seoul.

After the incident, I tried find out more information about cases on the impact of weather to our digital cameras. Unfortunately, I couldn't get any satisfied answers from Canon Workshop. They only advised me to becareful when using these kind of digital cameras in oversea countries which having different weather from here, either too cold or too hot temperature.

Now, I got a bit more experience on it, at least better than last time in Seoul, on taking care my digital camera in oversea countries with extreme change of weather. Here are some tips I would like to share and I hope its could help for not ruining your vacation mood due to above mentioned problem.

A good, high quality camera bag is like a warm winter suits for us to protect from cold weather. Not only cold, but a good camera bag could even protect your digital cameras from rain or impact from other object. There are actually plenty of camera bag selling in the market, with different shape, materials, colour and additional features. But, I feel the most important is it should be with high quality of materials and weatherproof. A camera bag made with high quality of materials could easily absorb the damage of impact from other object, when you accidently hit it or being hit by other objects. Personally, I found the camera bags made by Bogen and Lowepro are quite good, but the price is a bit high. Anyway, if you really wanna protect your cameras, I still think it's worth to invest.
Use the Ultra-violet or skylight filter to protect your lens. As you know, your lens are the major devices in your digital camera. A small scratch could seriously affect your output quality, and definitely spoil your interest, and for sure you would go change your lens as fast as you could. But, a high quality len is very costly, and you couldn't be changing your lens all the times, right?
When the weather is really hot and you are travelling under the sun, try to avoid leaving your digital camera expose under the sun. I suggest you could lay a light tower over it, and it would help shade it from the sun. If possible, try not to use a dark colour tower, as you know it would just absorbing more heat.
On another hand in cold weather, the only thing you can do to your digital camera is try to keep it as warm as possible. A simple action like keeping it under your jacket with help from your body heat would hopefully help preventing condensation from occurring. However, if condensation does happen, you should immediately open the battery and memory compartments, empty them and keep compartments open until its dry out. And, please do not take your digital camera back outside if there is condensation on it. Because it is possible it would freeze.

Protect Your Canon Digital Camera on Vacation

When going for vacation, digital camera has became a must item to bring along. We wanna capture the beautiful scene, view and memorable moment during our travelling. Not like previously, with film camera, we have to buy and carry rolls of film and carefully keep the films in safe place, away from exposure to light. And, with digital camera we can save all these troublesome. Furthermore, after shooting a picture, we could review and share the picture with friends and family members immediately on the LCD screen, and perform whatever necessary editing.

However, if you don't keep your digital camera carefully during your travelling, it could easily being taken advantage by local thiefs. My friend, Judy had lost her one, couple of weeks ago when travelling in Phuket Island, Thailand. When Judy and her boy friend were at the beach in the evening, they wanna capture their picture with a beutiful sunset scene behind. A local boy was came and offered his help. Judy's boy friend thought it would be ok, since that was only a small kid. He was actually more worried on whether the kid knew how to operate his Canon Digital Camera then being stolen. The boy pretended to get ready for shooting and requested them in position, somemore suggested Judy's boy friend to carry her for more romantic scene. They were agreed on the suggestion, and when Judy's boy friend carried her up, the boy promptly runaway with their Canon Digital Camera. They shouted, and meanwhile a local man luckily came to help and chase to the boy direction. Both Judy and her boy friend were waiting until one hour, but did not see the boy or the man returned. Then, they realised their Canon Digital Camera was gone, and the man who offered help could be same gang with the boy. Not only Judy, her brother, Sam also had experienced losting his camera when travelling in China long ago. But, unfortunately it seem Judy didn't learn from him.

Here's some tips on protecting your Canon Digital Cameras for being stolen when travelling.

Do not expose your Canon Digital Cameras to the public when you are not using it. If possible, keep it in a bag preferably a plain old, dirty, somemore run of the mill one. But not the good one with Canon logo on it. Then people won't know you are keeping your valuable Canon Digital Camera in side.
I saw many people like to hang their Canon Digital Cameras, especially EOS series on their neck with long strap printed with fews big Canon logo. Stay alert on your surroundings when you trying to pull your camera out from bag for shooting any interesting or good scene. It is good if you could build up this habits of wrapping the strap around your wrist a couple of rounds before pulling it out from bag.
Do not hand over your Canon Digital Cameras to stranger, as mentioned in the case of Judy. If you really want some help, try get it from your own travel escort or other members in your travelling group. If you are travelling alone, and you wanna set auto-timer for yourself portrait, makesure you are not setting your tripod in clouded area and pay attention on your surrounding people even it is not clouded. Makesure you have enough time and distance to grab back your camera before somebody did.
Since the pictures you have taken are valuable and memorable to you, I suggest to backup its in a safe devices like notebook or CD (Most recommended CD) when you get back to hotel. If you don't have a notebook along, try burn it in a nearby photo shop.
Buy insurance on your Canon Digital Cameras. Sometimes, thing just happen, no matter how careful you are. So, just in case if your camera is stolen, at least you are covered by insurance policy.

The UPS shipping label price is based on the product category. Here's the reference, and you are advised to re-confirm the updated pricing in Canon Recycle Webpages. (a) $6 plus applicable sales tax for Binoculars, Camcorders, Cameras, Compact Photo Printers, Film Scanners and video Equipment. (b) $12 plus applicable sales tax for Flatbed Scanners and Bubble Jet Products like printers, multifunction all-in-ones, and fax machines. (C) $36 plus applicable sales tax for ImageCLASS Products, Laser Fax Machines and PC Copiers.
Also, you will need to mention your Canon Digital Camera model name and product serial number to place the order. It is a bit restricted here that only one label could be purchase per order, and labels could only be sent to address in the 50 United States ( No APO/FPO or P.O.Boxes).

Is Canon Digital Camera in PIKOM PC Fair ?

Since Alice and I had decided to pay a visit to PIKOM PC Fair which will be held in KLCC, I had taken initiative to search online for more information about Canon's booth in the mentioned fair, after I separated with Alice. I'd gone into Canon official webpage, and found that they are promoting this event in one of the column in their homepage. I felt a bit excited when I saw that, thinking on how luckily we were for not buying the Canon Digital Camera in Low Yat Plaza. But, when I clicked on the promotion icon, it brought me to another promotion page that I only saw purely promoting on Canon printer, and hardly find any digital cameras, not even a small picture of digital camera. Oh.... I was a bit cold already.

The title of the advertisement was "The-All-For-Grabs Promo". A boy with his elastic hands grabbing all the promotion items.... but all was printer in package, and no sign of digital camera at all.

I made a call to my friend, David, and ask for his opinions. According to him, we can have a try in PIKOM PC Fair to look for a discount on buying any Canon Digital Cameras and other accessories, but he asked me don't hope too much on its. He said nowadays, these kind of fair was a bit different from previous time. In previous PC fair, the dealers were really cut down a lots on its product price to attract people, but now it is more like a group of dealers joining together and selling their product with the price that not much different from outsides. If you really serious on its, might be the only different was you would get extra small gifts when buying in the fair. Or, if you are luckily enough, you may able to buy some old stocks with a really special price. Yes, "old stock", if you don't mind. I think David was right, but I told him that anyhow I would still join Alice to pay a visit to PIKOM PC Fair by the next day. All of a sudden, he stopped me, asking if I was in Taiping or Johor Bahru. I said I was not, then he laughed like no tomorrow, and told me the fair in KLCC would only held on the following weekend. Ohhh... what a damn mistake.

Alice buying her Canon Digital Camera

Celine Dion's concert is coming soon next weekend, Alice had made up her mind to buy a new digital camera, so that she could shooting her superstar on stage. However, She can only afford with budgets lower than RM1,500.00 and she came for my advice. Since Canon is my favorable brand name, I suggest her to pick Canon Digital Camera. Hmmm...below RM1,500... I asked her to forget about the EOS series even though it is really well equiped for events like concert. Her budgets was only afforded with the IXUS series. She was agreed with me.

The next day, we went to Low Yat in Bukit Bintang to survey for the latest model and price. At first, we past by a normal shop inside the Low Yat Building, which selling variety brands of digital cameras. The shopkeeper was a bit type of don't care manners. We asked him to show us the latest models which were published in the paper, the IXUS 80 and IXUS 90. He handed over a catalogue to us and said he don't have the models in his shop at the moments. Since he couldn't provide us the models, we said never mind and decided to move to next shop. You know, catalogue can be get any else ways, I can even surf the images in internet, then what for coming so long to this shop and just survay in catalogue. Furthermore, picture in catalogue for sure was taken by professional somemore with touch up. Commercial mahh... So, intention is clear, we must at least touch the camera before making any decision. But, the shopkeeper seem not really understand well. He stopped us and he said he was actually keeping few units in his store, but not convenient to go take it because his stuff was gone for lunch. So, he asked us to choose from the catalogue first, once order was confirmed, he will asked his stuff to take the digital camera when his stuff finished his lunch.

My friend, Alice was the type of a bit "kind", but I immediately stopped her for not wasting time there, since there're still many digital camera shop around in Low Yat building. Before we moved, I noticed the shopkeeper was staying anger on me, sound like why I was so busybody stopping my friend, killing his business. His reaction had made me so firm that this shop is definitely not the right one. We quickly runaway and worried he would followed and disturbed us.

After that, Alice and my mood on that afternoon were totally ruined by the incident. We just dropped by the Canon official outlet and collected some information. I suggest her to think again carefully what model she like, and we'd decided to go visit the PIKOM PC Fair in KLCC the next day.

Canon was incepted in Japan in 1937 by Goro Yoshida and his brother-in-law Saburo Uchida, with the dream of making a world class 35mm camera.
