Game Advocates is a series of interviews about a single game, not with the game designer(s) but with people who have thoroughly played the game. In Game Advocates we ask about how the game plays, what’s fun about it, possible pitfalls for new players, and why this and not another game.

This episode’s advocate is Ryan Shelton, another fine member of the gamer forum Roludo. He's also the host of the new podcast Roll for News. Ryan advocates for Beat to Quarters, a game by Neil Gow.<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/canonpuncturecomplete/~4/22Gz6jWzh0E" height="1" width="1"/>

(Speaking of "the mic", there's a weird sound artifact that I spent a day trying to edit out. It's still there, sorry. I find if you imagine we're recording on a spaceship, it sounds pretty cool, actually.)

We talk about a couple contests by our sister/brother shows on the RPG Crosstalk forum. One by the Jennisodes (which might be over now, she was indefinite on the end time) and the other by Knights of the Night.

Arnold shared his super fun times at Camp Nerdly.

Arnold and I are asking all of you for indie RPG mechanics that you want explained via media. Listen to the episode if you want more details (unless you're reading this while listening to the episode... then GOOD JOB)

In Game Advocates we ask about how the game plays, what's fun about it, possible pitfalls for new players, and why this and not another game.
Jason Godesky of the Storyjammers podcast advocates for Ganakagok by Bill White. The game is set in a fantasy Inuit world of darkness and ice. The players roll dice vying to win control of interpretting the tarot-like cards to narate scenes. Good and bad medicine shift. What will you sacrifice?
GANAKAGOK
Check out the preview, friend them on facebook, and listen to some actual play.
Bill White's blog for roleplaying game design is well worth the read.
Also, listen to the Godesky Brothers, Jason and Mike, talk about roleplaying games: why we play them, what we get out of them, and how we can get more out of them at storyjammers.com.

Rich, Arnold &#038; (cabin boy) Judd come closer to the 100th episode!

    * Rich brings his Savage World campaign closer to an end as the players attempt to prevent an old god from returning to the land. The end in sight causes him to ponder the next game for that group. They discuss the difference in play style between one shots and long term games and Rich calls out for help in finding an indie game that has some extended play.

Judd suggests Burning Wheel, Dogs in the Vineyard and Sorceror.

Rich posits The Shadow of Yesterday (TSoY), Prime Time Adventures (shout out to Durham3's Deep Blue) and Lacuna Part 1

Arnold's first choice for a long term game is Usagi Yojimbo.

What would you suggest? Let Rich know!

Also included:
    * Drive Thru Review of Tavern Menus: Fantasy Sample Menus by Empty Room Studios Publishing
    * a little bonus freeform chat after the outtro
