After our first few days in the new hot-seat of Cantufind we started getting involved with the social networking sites, just to see if our views fitted with the general consensus on what good SEO should be, and of course, what shouldn’t. We hit twitter, and despite having to wade through the compulsory trash that loiters in places like this, we were delighted to read a blog from an SEO analyst (We don’t like the term expert) called Ruth Burr, from SEO Marketers, SEMOZ who wrote ‘SEO isn’t Magic’. At first it appears nothing more than the bog-standard blog harping on about the right way to enhance your SERPS along with pointing out the wrong ways, and, we had to concede to initially wanting to switch off as same old, same old, but we persevered with the read and were glad we did.

As we said, what Ruth was talking about wasn’t new, but it was refreshing. Largely because what she was trying to re-enforce was about how to achieve good SERPs, which sadly even to this day been virtually ignored by the rest of the so called SEO World. We won’t repeat Ruth’s blog, go and read it yourself, but what we will say is that it was deliciously refreshing to see someone hit the nail on the head and write about the basic premise of SEO Marketing and how it ‘Isn’t Magic’. No it isn’t, it’s nothing more than simple dedication and common sense crafted through a long term strategy.

There’s been no more a competitive arena than directories over the past decade and rather than run out of the traps hunting top place we took the tortoise and the hare approach. We did it the right way, the clean way. Yes it meant we couldn’t link to competitors. What company in their right minds would do that? We’d work with some but never for the sake of getting a link, and what were we rewarded with? Well we never got a high page rank that’s for sure, but PR is vanity, SERPS is sanity. So did we succeed with SERPS by taking our’s and Ruth’s approach? You bet we did, we’ve been top of the SERPs for our desired keywords/ phrases for the past ten years and maintained it because of nothing more than a non-aggressive stance to where we want to be. Now we can sit back and do the hard bit by working harder on our content, (the reason for the takeover).

We can do that now with the knowledge that regardless of PR, at the very least our clients get listed in a resource that is not only the leader in it’s market but also likely to stay there for the next decade and more. That to our clients will prove far more valuable than chasing rabbits by getting listed in directories just for the sake of PR juice. That’s if that stuff actually exists? So our first blog as new owners of Cantufind is to congratulate and thank Ruth Burr and SEMOZ for sharing their wisdom, for as we conceded in our reply to her post, we may well know our business but we are still open to learning and there were definitely words of wisdom worth learning in Ruth’s blog. If we didn’t think awards were tacky we would award SEMOz 10/10 for knowledge. We don’t so all we will say is a big THANK YOU.

It’s good to see that at least some are singing from the same song sheet as us, it worked for us and it will work for you if you take their advice.

You’re running a directory, times are lean, a global recession means SEO’s are targeting only a select few that they think offer any value. So, what do you do about it? Do you compromise on quality to ensure that the much needed dollar keeps coming in or do you stand fast with your principles and wait the recession out. The answer? NEITHER

It certainly won’t hurt you spending your time constructively checking the content of your directory, or, like us, if you have a blog then simply spend some time looking at how the recession has affected the world and not just you. Before you know it your adding quality to your directory that would be either festering stagnant while you wait for the next paid submission to hopefully appear, or worse. Add categories, add links, do your housework. Out with the old, in with the new.

There’s no better time to do it than now, and if your smart you’ll already realize this and be working hard on creating your own content. So what if you have to fill your directory up with free links, that’s not the end of the world, just make sure they are worth your visitors while. That is unless your one of the army of directories out there that are designed for no other traffic than the SEO market. If that’s the case then suck it up and welcome to the real world of commerce, business was never meant to be easy.

We are all for getting the message across, especially when it comes to spamming, and hidden black hat SEO and anything Matt Cutt’s and his crew have to say about the subject just has to be listened to. But isn’t it stretching it a bit far when a well known blogging site actually embeds Matts’ video blog on the subject and then goes on to quote almost verbatim what he has just said? Isn’t that in itself spam? We won’t duplicate the post by putting the video on here and repeating what Matt said because that wasn’t the point of posting this blog. All we wanted to do was to clarify just where do we draw the line on duplicate content and why is it abused so much?

Here’s the link to the video,

There shouldn’t be any reason you can’t listen to what has been said but if your loudspeakers are broken or for some other legitimate reason you can’t hear the blog then please feel free to mail us where we’ll be happy to provide you the transcript without blatant duplication.

The High Court in London, UK put a whole new meaning to the term content management system today as it ruled that several of Britain’s leading ISP’s (Internet Service Providers) including SKY, Virgin Media, and Talk Talk must block access to the notorious website that provides free access to its users that allows them to download music, software and movies along with just about anything else. The judgment was made as a result of the BPI (British Phonographic Industry) complaining about the fact that the abuse of copyright was depriving the artists, and background staff such as sound engineers of income.

Internet Blog V3.co.uk obtained comments from several of the ISP’s who have to obey by the ruling including Virgin Media who confirmed “…it had received the court order, but also said it was unconvinced such methods were the best way to stop online copyright infringements…” This appears to be the general consensus amongst most of the providers. The only major player that appears to have escaped being listed in the order is telecommunications giant ‘BT‘ even though they were privately asked by the BPI on a previous occasion to block PirateBay.

So what impact does this have on the ordinary consumer? In truth nothing, that is unless you’re one of the millions who visit PirateBay even though you might not even admit it. But isn’t it the start of ‘Big Brother Syndrome?’ if what we can and cannot see is left to a judge who, with the greatest of respect, and in all truth and honesty, probably doesn’t know the Internet from his elbow. Should a judge have the power to tell us what we can and cannot view? Is this a start of bigger things to come in what could be construed an attempt to keep the rich richer and the poorer where they belong? Our view? Piracy is a crime, so yes, it has to be punished, but not by censorship, it should simply have its limited variants of domain names deleted from the registry databases so it can never ply its trade using their now World famous, or infamous ‘Brand Name.’

Seeing the wood for the trees is clearly not what the BPI are doing because ultimately it isn’t just PirateBay who are culprits in Torrent abuse, as many that get taken down there will be to replace it. Let’s face it, the Internet is monster and it is not going to behave like an obedient lapdog. Red Rag to a bull comes to mind here, our bets is that regardless of the rights or wrongs of the ruling there is no way on earth is it going to put a stop to piracy.

One guaranteed way to get dropped from search engines and directories is to blatantly change your domain name URL, and or use a redirect without having the courtesy of letting the directory administrators know. Editors spend a significant amount of time reviewing your sites and there is often nothing more frustrating than to find a redirect being implemented which is either used to fool the search engines into improving your SERPS, it doesn’t work guys. Show a bit of SEO knowledge and keep people in the loop.

The irony here is that when re-reviewing the Search Engine Optimization Firms section of our directory there were no less than seven sites that had used this method. Needless to say we said goodbye to them with a polite notice that we’d appreciate some co-operation when it comes to working with them in providing them a listing with us which is arguably the largest and most accurate listing of SEO Firms on the INTERNET, bar none.

The moral of this short blog in this particular case is that if your going to profess to providing the best SEO marketing services available then the least you can do is practice what you preach.

It’s that time of the year folks when we review our largest section in our directory, our Search Engine Optimization Firms and with a hefty 420 plus companies listed we’ve got our work cut out for us. But that’s the beauty of a hand edited directory, you get the chance to review and check what is actually going on behind the www and quite often you see that the site has either died a death or changed to a completely different facility. It didn’t take us long to pick up on dead sites or sites that are live but changed content which re-enforces the importance of checking manually not simply relying on a piece of code that pings the domain hoping it will come back as live. 1st Place SEO is a typical example. Automated software will get a ping-back from that which misleads the directory owner into thinking the site is live when in truth as you can see by visiting the link its now simply loitering about waiting to be sold to the highest bidder. American Web Marketing another.

Good housekeeping is key to a good directory and even if you have limited content like we have at the moment, as long as that content is qualified and accurate then that’s all that matters. We started with 420, at the time of publishing this little blog, let’s see how many sites have changed in the past months since we last reviewed. My money as the editor today is at least 50? Let’s wait and see.

There is no arguing that health and fitness is important, and as a result of the increased awareness of the benefits there are a growing number of different health and fitness schooling plans available targeted at the more vulnerable men and women sat behind the desk day in day out when they really should at least try and take the time to do cardiovascular exercises. Often this is impossible, but what about in your house? Not everyone gets the opportunity to visit health and fitness center.

Problem solved. Two simple work but highly effective methods are ’standing bike,’ and ’step’ work outs. Two exercises that are incredibly beneficial and done with ease at home or at work.

How do you benefit from physical exercise? Do we really have to explain? The most obvious is the lowering of your blood pressure and cholesterol levels, the strengthening of your muscles including your heart muscle and most of all, your overall fitness levels. If your like most people, the furthest you walk is to the burger bar or coffee shop for your daily fix of caffeine. STOP…wake up and smell the coffee instead of drinking it. Only kidding, anything in moderation is fine, just don’t overdo it and if your going to throw a burger down you then the least you can do is treat yourself to a daily dose of exercise.

Don’t know how? Can’t afford a Gym? You don’t need either. There are thousands of keep fit websites on the Internet and our very own section of Keep Fit where you’ll find just about everything you’ll need to know. Live long, enjoy life, it will end soon enough and please consider recommending a good keep fit resource if you know of one. The one thing we want to do is support health and wellness.

Over the past couple of years we’ve been paying a lot of attention to the subliminal power of the PR. You know, the little green bar that many actually think make a website all that more juicier to link to? We can’t seem to come to a definitive conclusion though. We get visited and submitted to quite a lot, and we know many of the links are just tests to see if there is benefit from submitting to a directory with the highest possible SERPS in its giving field, but we have pretty dismal PR. Why? Because we can’t be bothered to look for rival directories to join up to for the sake of falsely bumping up the color of the little green bar.

So why is it we actually have traffic from unique visitors with unique search terms, and quite a lot of it. We don’t just get visited by the Bots, and the wot-nots, and, because we genuinely think Alexa is a lot of nonsense, we don’t rely on visitors who have their toolbar in place thus giving us a wholly misleading rank. (Sob!… NOT) We prefer REAL people wanting to find things and they are usually people who want to find things.. It’s now we hold our head in shame, for we’ve not worked hard enough on putting enough content into the many categories we have. Not anymore. This is about to change and with a new team in place and new plush offices in the middle of a forest in Lapland we plan to really start providing what we always planned on, and that’s quality content over quantity.

Our question therefore is… ‘Is there any qualification to the power of the little green bar and does it provide the website owner (e-tailer) with any benefit? Or does the SERPS of the directory that the website gets submitted to offer any benefit? We hold SERPS #1 in a majority of key terms we hold dear to, (Read ‘About Us‘) and honestly think that this is the reason behind our visitor levels, which we’ve already conceded can and will improve. It has nothing to do with the little green bar, or does it? Are there any real answers out there to the questions we pose? Or does the little green bar belong with the little green pixies at the back of our sheds?

Shaving for men when you have bad acne is definitely unpleasant at best. The catch is a large number of people must be clean shaven for one motive or another. Shaving for men really should not be so complicated or debilitating. This document will show you how one can make shaving with break-outs simpler and easier both on you plus your facial skin.

I used to think that it truly is globally known to use careful attention when you have active acne outbreaks on your facial area, or not to shave whilst you currently have active acne outbreaks on your facial area. Not surprisingly, that old sentence is true, we discover more as our bodies age. For anyone who is suffering from severe acne, it is advisable to deal with the underlying problem 1st. Afterward, as soon as the breakout goes away, you’ll be ready to begin shaving your face once again. Shaving over active zits is only going to result in additional microbe infections to many other parts, as well as skin damage, tenderness, and a whole lot worse zits.

Fortunately there are a few easy steps you can take any time you’ve got active acne outbreaks:

Employing a single bladed razor blade is essential, while confronting acne. Due to the fact applying excessive pressure is a large problem, transitioning to a more substantial razor blade is advisable. Something similar to an old time truly large double edge shaver. You really want to steer clear of trendy cellophane shavers due to the fact light shavers force you to employ a lot more pressure to get a fine shave, which is not good for you. In case you are feeling ambitious, you may also try using a straight razor or safety razors. Remember however, these kinds of razors involve some education on your side to learn to control them properly. An additional replacement for a plastic razor can be an power razor.

Before you can shave, you need to prep your beard to become more shave friendly. Start with washing the face with tepid to warm water to relax the facial hair. The cleaning soap will detox skin too. Afterward, apply shaving cream on your face and let it set for several minutes, (it will soften your hair). Rinse it away, and after that apply the shaving cream again to make a regular lather. By lathering again to soften your facial hair, you’re going to experience an extremely easier and much better shave.

Shaving your face against the grain of the facial hair will definitely be avoided. The reason is because doing so will drastically raise the risk of slicing acne breakouts. It is so simply because shaving your face against the grain is trickier to regulate and needs a lot more force.

Acquiring a lighter touch while you shave helps in reducing damage and slicing acne breakouts. After the shave, employing a non alcohol based skin toner in order to disinfect your face is a great idea. Avoid alcohol based aftershave. One other good option is an anti-bacterial gel. Given that shaving your face does dry the skin, you should utilize a moisturizing lotion to nourish and hydrate your skin yet again.

Using these simple steps, you’ll be able to shave with confidence, and steer clear of acne scarring! Trust me; following the suitable treatments, any guy can certainly prevent this sort of scars whenever shaving your face. On the other hand, it’s up to you to take out whatever acne that is remaining on your own face in order that you won’t need to be concerned about cutting into present zits.

Most people have suffered with pimples to some degree at one point in their lives and when we have we all know shaving isn’t the most pleasant undertaking. However, contemporary society often dictates that individuals do so to present a specific image. i.e, The CLEAN SHAVEN Look. That being the case, the link Shaving with acne can help make this task less of a burden. We hope you enjoy the link.

The Trust Deed will allow an individual living within Scotland, that’s struggling with a major debt pressure, an opportunity to arrive at a progressive repayment arrangement with their unsecured lenders.

The new payment agreement, that usually can last for 36 months, operates rather than bankruptcy, or sequestration, as it’s occasionally acknowledged as in Scotland.

If your Protected Trust Deed has been contracted by the necessary largest majority of the applicant’s lenders, it ends up being legally binding upon unanimously, and because of the terms associated with the agreement, creditors are forced to freeze interest charges on the debts and to also cease adding any specific missed repayment expenses and fees.

A result of the legal status of the PTD, it must be administered by a qualified Insolvency Specialist, whose principal function is to act as the Trustee throughout the agreement.

This individual acts as an arbiter between the applicant and their lenders. This means he’s tasked with making sure the client fulfills his / her aspect of the agreement by paying as much of his or her unsettled debt as he / she can manage to pay for, whilst protecting the client from the threat of legal measures being utilized by his or her lenders.

Payments into the arrangement are paid straight to the Trustee and are arranged at what’s agreed to be an reasonable amount, based on sensible and modest living allowances being provided to the applicant. Amongst the Trustee’s obligations is to distribute the funds to creditors throughout the plan, making sure that each lenders gets his or her fair share of the repaid debt.

The Trustee has the ability to amend the Trust Deed obligations at any time, if the applicant’s personal situation either deteriorate or strengthen during the PTD, and the Trustee will observe the applicant’s personal finances throughout the arrangement to ensure his / her repayment stays fair and sensible.

Once the term of the Protected Trust Deed has been finished and all obligations have been paid, the client is legally free of debt, despite the fact that they could quite possibly not have repaid all the original outstanding financial debt. Creditors are legally required to write-off any outstanding financial debt as their part of the arrangement.

To be able to qualify for a PTD an client must have a minimum of ?10,000 of unprotected debts, and the debt must be owed to at least three different lenders.

The client must be in a position to repay at the very least 10% of their debts, after the Trustee has subtracted his fees for administrating the Trust Deed, though how much each client repays will vary according to their individual circumstances.

As part of the process, all of the applicant’s assets are handed over to the Trustee, and they charged with getting rid of them to be able to produce the most effective economic result for the creditors.
