hailing from the city of brotherly love, philadelphia, pa the miners recently released their 6 song ep, miners rebellion. one thing i really dig about this ep and these guys is that they arent trying to be anything they arent. they’re great musicians, writing great songs, no gimmicky bullshit and sometimes thats absolutely everything you need/want. i am hoping a full-length is around the corner, at some point.

admittedly, i just discovered mr morelands music a few months back, but since then i have been listening to his stuff constantly. well, he has a new one out tomorrow entitled in the throes which is being put out by last chance records. my knee jerk reaction to in the throes is that its probably the best thing i have heard this year. one thing i love about the man or his music, and actually gets my musical blood flowing, is that his lyrics are so fucking relateable and poignant. oh to be this talented…. this guy has a gift, and i am going to do my damnedest to talk about him as much is socially acceptable. anyway, please do yourself a favor and at least check out that song down there, and do the world a favor by buying his record(s).

oh hot damn! y’all know superchunk is one of my favorite bands ever. shit i named my son after mac. here is the first single off their upcoming record, i hate music, which is due out 8.20. pre-order it via merge. and yeah, this is itching me right where i scratch. classic, supercunk.

my man and glossary front man, joey kneiser, did a little session for the site southern manners. this here song is from his record the all-night bedroom revival, which is def one of my favorite records from past 5 years or so. and guess what, motherfuckers? you can still download it for free via the glossary site. i cannot, repeat recommend it enough. do it! you can also grab glossary’s better angels of our nature – fucking killer record, and kelly’s solo record too. three free records?

oh, happy tuesday, peoples! so t-minus about 65 hours i, and the family, will be on the road to chicago. back home for the first time in two years. sucks we only make it back every two years, but it is what it is, i suppose. either way, el famous burrito, white castle, italian beefs, and the good beer i cant find here in louisiana will be in my stomach, soon… very soon. so here we have a great elliott show, probably one of the better ones i have heard, but i am no expert in terms of his shows. this was my favorite time period from him which could lead me to think its a damn fine show. much love to the original taper, and you can find the lossless version here.

well, what we got here are two bands, one that is one of america’s finest, american aquarium, and the other, baton rouge’s the rigs, has the potential to be, at least to these ears. they’re playing at the varsity here in baton rouge tomorrow night, and damn i couldnt be more excited. from a personal viewpoint, i couldnt think of a better show going on this year in baton rouge, unless of course guided by voices and pavement decided to tour together and play at mud and water, but until then this is where its at. btw, if you want to go to the show for free, all you gotta do is head on over to the rigs’ fb page and share the picture to enter to win.
