June kind of felt like one of those months where not much happened, but the things that did happen were good. For me the first half was pretty non-eventful, but in the second half I finished work for the term, went to see my dad, my partners mum came to visit, and I (finally!!) had my first commission of the year. So all in all, pretty good actually. I’ll share more on that commission in a future post but you can have a look on my Twitter too if you’re curious. Hoping July will be full of some kind of adventure, of course lots of charity shops and hopefully some good times too. Also more illustration work wouldn’t go amiss! You can see lots of my work via the My Work category, and my portfolio too. Anyway, here’s more photos! 1 – Fantastic vintage vinyl from a local charity shop. The cover totally grabbed me! 2 – Lush tiles outside of a restaurant when I went to visit my dad recently. That green is something isn’t it! 3 – View from the hotel I stayed at. Reminded me of the view from my dads flat …just a lot closer, ha! […]

In today’s chapter of ‘catching up on past interviews’ we have the fantastic Matthew Spade of Buckets & Spades (and Best of Packaging). You can also catch up with Heidi, Angharad, Charlotte, Natasha, Olivia, Bee, Zeena, Fritha, Ghenet and Manjit. If you’d like to be interviewed for the blog in the future, please get in touch! On to Matthew.. What’s the best thing about what you do? Probably the whole act of working for myself is the best thing. You only have yourself to answer for, which can get tricky, but ultimately I love and thrive on the freedom it gives me. I’m fine with taking rules from others but the end result might not be what they had in mind — so working on my own terms suits me great! I love your other Instagram account, Best of Packaging …does the style connect purely to your tastes, or stuff you think others would like too? If I like it I’ll share it, there’s very little other reasoning behind it. It could be a colour, a font, a graphic or a cool concept — if it sparks some joy for me I’ll share it. And it’s amazing that so many […]

Finally catching up on sharing my work again! This is one of my favourite pieces I made last year. It was for Baltimore Magazine, for a piece on Sparc, which helps create safer living and working environments for sex workers in the area. It originally looked very different in my first drafts, with a pink background and a lot more colourful overall. With feedback and a little direction we ended up with this. In my opinion it’s much stronger with the grey textured background. It makes the rest of the colours pop and really focuses the figure and other elements. The pink represents the pink of their logo and the other items are things that represent the center, and the author of the article. In terms of overall style, I think this is what I’m best at. Creating minimal, striking and colourful collages. I used to make very textured ‘busy’ pieces, and whilst I do like that, I don’t think it’s where my strength lies. I tend to over-work them and everything gets a bit lost. Hoping to further improve upon and strengthen my style in time. And definitely hope to get more fantastic briefs like this one! ————– Want […]

I’d like to do the odd outfit post here from time to time again, because I do enjoy my clothes, ha! I’m still awkward at having photos taken of myself, but not as bad as I used to be. Often find it hard to know what to say in these posts too. A bit of a ramble? Sure, why not. The day I took these it was ridiculously hot and I gotta say, cords were the wrong choice! I love the colour of them though. The thing I really love the colour of though? That rainbow bag. It’s so fun and I just think it’s great. Fits loads in it and gets SO MANY compliments. Hoping it encourages the sun to stick around too. It’s been a weird summer so far… Talking of sun, we all know sandals are an absolute staple this time of year. I have a few pairs and I tend to […]

With all best intentions, I really had meant to keep more up to date with the blog, but as usual, life kind of got in the way. Nothing interesting, just day to day stuff. I gotta say though, living through a global pandemic has REALLY affected my motivation and pro-activeness. Which is obviously something that’s happened to a lot of people. That said, some people seem to have been incredibly productive. I need some of that please! Again, I have the intention but where oh where is my motivation? It’ll come back. Or I just need someone to shout at me, ha! So, here’s some photos from the past month or so. With being able to go places and do more things now I really hope my spark comes back. But at a minimum I’ll have the opportunity to feel a bit more inspired and take more photos! 1 – I’ve been loving raspberries lately! Never used to like them but I love their sweet but slighty sour tanginess. 2 – Avas colours against the colours of my rugs. Too lovely to resist! 3 – Super drawn to this texture on the back of a van whilst going for a […]
