New Ford Fiesta launched in India

Today on 7th of November, Leading auto manufacturer Ford India has launched the special edition of its most popular model Ford Fiesta in Indian auto market. The newly launched Ford Fiesta variant is priced at Rs 6.44 lacs (as ex-showroom prices in New Delhi). The company official said in a statement that they launched this new version only for its 1.6 ZXI variant that comes with 1.6L, petrol engine.

"The Ford Fiesta is continuously doing well and it is to be one of our bestselling products and registered impressive sales during the festive season. We are building on the success and offering customers with a special edition of the 1.6 ZXI Duratec variant," Ford India Executive Director (Marketing, Sales and Service) Nigel Wark said.

The newely launched special edition of Ford Fiesta has been fitted with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution) that enhances the safety during emergency braking at high speed on rough road. Other than EBD, there are some new styling features also introduced with the new Ford Fiesta that makes it more stylish and impressive from inside. The interior of this special edition of Ford Fiesta also revised with leather interiors.

Nissan Murano to launch in India

Japanese auto major Nissan ready to launch its luxurious SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) model, Nissan Murano in Indian market. The company plans to launch Nissan Murano in Indian market in the first quarter of next year. Nissan Murano is the popular premium SUV model from Nissan's product portfolio at international market. In India, Nissan already launched its premium SUV, Nissan X-Trail and luxurious sedan Nissan Teana in the premium car segment and with the launch of Nissan Murano, company plans to make its position more strong in premium vehicle market. The all new Nissan Murano will compete with the Toyota Prado, BMW X3, Mitsubishi Montero and Mercedes Benz M-class. It is expected that Nissan Murano price will fall in the range of Rs 35 to 40 lacs in Indian market as it will be imported as CBU (Completely Built Unit) from the parent company in Japan.

“We are planning to import the high-end luxurious SUV, Nissan Murano from Japan after seeing the good market response to Nissan X-Trail in Indian market. In India, the SUV market is very exciting and we are planning to expand our premium vehicles portfolio, before we venture into the high-volume small car segment through our Chennai facility,” said Neeraj Garg, Nissan company senior representative.

Nissan Murano was first launched in 2002 in United States as a SUV model to complement Pathfinder. The all new Nissan Murano is expected to be launched with three variants - the base model Nissan Murano S, the mid-grade SL and the top of the line LE. The 3.5L petrol V6 model is expected to come with 4WD option. Nissan Murano will be launched with both 2WD (Two Wheel Drive) and 4WD (Four Wheel Drive) options with 6 airbags as standard equipments. The company plans to launch Nissan Murano in India first before it launches its small car model in the country.

Maruti Kizashi ready to launch in India

India's largest passenger car manufacturer and second largest passenger car exporter Maruti Suzuki India Ltd is now ready to launch its premium sedan model Maruti Kizashi in India in C sedan segment. The company's Japanese partner Suzuki Motor Corporation has been finally launched Kizashi in Japanese market and by the end of this year it will be launched also in US market. However the company refused to say about the exact pricing of Maruti Kizashi but the company official indicates that it might be priced in the range of Rs 10 to 12 lacs. Suzuki introduced this model in Japanese market with the base price at $20,000 or Rs 9.40 lacs.

According to the company official, Maruti Kizashi will be powered by the 2.4L petrol engine the company also plans to launch it also with diesel option in Indian market because from past few months the sales of diesel cars in continously increasing in comparison to petrol models. Maruti Kizashi will be packed with latest new generation safety features like airbags, cruise control system, parking sensors, ABS (Antilock Brake System) with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution) etc.

With the launch of Maruti Kizashi the company plans to make its position stronger also in premium sedan segment which is currently dominated by Honda City, Chevrolet Optra Magnum, Honda Civic and recently launched Chevrolet Cruze. Also in Indian market company trying to shed its dull image in premium sedan segment and the comapny continue the sporty and higher quality product renaissance that it began by the Maruti SX4.

Automakers to launch diesel cars in Indian market

World's leading auto manufacturers like Mercedes, BMW, Hyundai, Maruti Suzuki, Honda, General Motors and Toyota plans to launch new diesel cars or new diesel variants of its existing models in Indian auto market. Few years back diesel cars are not much popular in Indian market because of its high maintenance cost, engine noise and high price tag always put brakes on customers plan to buy a diesel car. With technology getting superior, now diesel cars are more fuel efficient and environment-friendly, so that all leading auto manufacturers are planning a slew of diesel launches.

Luxury car manufacturer, Mercedes is planning to launch the all new Mercedes Benz E class with diesel engine option. BMW is working forward to launch its new models with diesel engine in the forthcoming auto expo. In fact, auto manufacturers like BMW, Mercedes and Audi are selling more diesel variants in comparison to their petrol counterparts.

India's second largest passenger car manufacturer, Hyundai also gearing up to launch the diesel version of its popular luxury model Hyundai Sonata. Maruti is also planning to launch the diesel version of its popular sedan model Maruti SX4 which is expected to be launched in Indian market in the first quarter of 2010. As Maruti’s popular models like its super hatch Maruti Swift and its sedan version Maruti Swift Dzire
are selling 65% diesel variants. Other auto manufacturers like Tata Motors, Mahindra and Mahindra, and Ford are also ramping up the production of their diesel models to tap this growing market.

Honda CRV which is the market leader in premium SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) segment, is now under pressure because of the launch of Toyota Fortuner in the same segment and with diesel engine.

Toyota-Kirloskar Motors (TKM) the leading auto manufacturer, currently selling there Toyota Corolla, Toyota Camry, Toyota Innova and the Toyota Fortuner, which sells more than 99% of diesel variants says, ”premium car customers need higher torque, power and performance that can be developed much better with advanced diesel technology,” said Sandeep Singh, the deputy MD (sales and marketing) of Toyota Kirloskar Motors. With demand outstripping supply, Toyota Kirloskar plans to increase production of the Toyota Fortuner by more than 60% this month.

Popular car models like Tata Indica, Tata Indigo, Mahindra Logan, Chevrolet Optra Magnum, Chevrolet Cruze, Hyundai Verna and Hyundai Sonata are continously seeing the growth in diesel model sales in the recent months. “Premium car customers travel long distances, so fuel economy plays an important role. With diesel cost being lower than petrol, the payback is quicker,” said Arvind Saxena, senior VP, marketing and sales, Hyundai Motor India.

Nissan to introduce Murano in India

Nissan, Japanese car major, is planning to introduce Nissan Murano in India by the first half of 2010. Earlier, it was to be rolled out in the current year. This premium SUV will be imported as Completely Built Unit direct form Japan. According to insiders, the SUV is expected to be priced between Rs 35 lakh to Rs 40 lakh. The SUV, Murano, is to be pitted against Mercedes Benz M-Class, Toyota Prado, Mitsubishi Montero and BMW X3. Nissan Murano is expected to be introduced in three variants viz., Nissan Murano S, Nissan Murano SL and top end model Nissan Murano line LE. The SUV will be powered by a 3.5 litre petrol V6 engine.

The new SUV will have rain sensing wipers, interior accents, mood lighting and memory seats. The Nissan Murano is supposed to have an 11-speaker Bose unit and a 9.3GB hard disk storage device. Meanwhile Nissan is also geared up to launch its compact car in India. The new small car will be Nissan Micra by March 2010. Micra will be produced at the Chennai plant which is owned by Renault and Nissan. Apart form India, the small car will be developed in China and Thailand. Volkswagen will soon introduce its Volkswagen Polo in India. It is believed that the company might showcase the new hatchback in Auto Expo 2010. some new reports also suggests that Toyota Prius might be displayed in the Auto Expo.

The petrol variants of Chevrolet Beat will be powered by the 1.2L, 1199cc MPFI petrol engine that produces 82bhp of maximum power and deliver great engine performance with good fuel efficiency. The diesel variants of Chevrolet Beat will be powered by the 1.0L, 936cc, three cylinder diesel engine that produces 57bhp of maximum power. This diesel engine of Chevrolet Beat seems bit lesser powered but it delivers excellent fuel efficiency.

Chevrolet Beat will be packed with advanced third generation features that will offer excellent luxurious driving experience with this car. It will be stylish premium hatchback with its stylish exteriors and impressive interiors. Toyota Avanza to launch in India

After the huge success of Toyota Innova and Toyota Fortuner, now Toyota Kirloskar Motors Limited (TKML), a subsidiary of Japanese auto major Toyota Motor Corporation, planning to launch Toyota Avanza in India. Toyota Avanza can be consider as a sub Innova product as it will be smaller MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) and after the launch it will take place below the Toyota Innova. It is expected that Toyota Avanza price will fall in the range of Rs 6 to 8 lacs as company don't want t o affect the sales of its own product Toyota Innova. Toyota Kirloskar Motors planning to capture more market share in Indian market in MPV segment with the launch of Toyota Avanza. Toyota Motors also planning to launch two more model other than the Toyota Avanza, its small car and Toyota Prius which will be launched in Indian market in next year.

Both cars, Toyota Avanza and Toyota new small car seems to be mass segment product for Indian market while the Toyota Prius which will be the high end car and it will be priced in range of Rs 16 to 18 lacs. At the Tokyo Motor Show, the senior executive of Toyota Motors confirmed that they would launch a second people mover, after the Toyota Innova, into Indian market.

The senior company official said that they are working on to develop an all new model, which will go on sale in next two years. As Toyota wants to play safe with this new model and they don't want to affect Toyota Innova sales, so it is expected that the all new Toyota Avanza will be a five or six seater MPV which will be powered by the sub 2.0L diesel engine. The company official also confirmed that Toyota Avanza will be a people mover and not an SUV.

Hyundai Used Cars expansion plan on cards

Hyundai Motors India, a largest passenger car exporter and second largest passenger car manufacturer in India plans to expand its used cars business in Indian market. In India used cars business is continously growing from past few years and to tap this growing used cars market, Hyundai Motor India has takes a fresh initiative to focus on its used car arm Hyundai Advantage which deals with the used cars business. In recent festive season Hyundai buys all car models of any make under its exchange scheme. Hyundai Motor India first launched the Hyundai Advantage in year 2006 to cater the needs of its exchange customers. Initially, Hyundai introduced six used cars centers across six prominent places across the country.

The Hyundai Motors India, Sr V-P, Marketing and Sales, Arvind Saxena said “Today, Hyundai Advantage boasts of 69 used cars dealers across 49 prominent places in India and the company plans is to ramped up this number up to 108 across in 59 more cities by the end of this year and it will be revamped by 200 operational used cars dealers by the end of next year.”

He added that, “India is a very large used cars market which is approximately 1.3 million cars per annum. It is expected that this number will be grown up exponentially in the next few years. And to tap this growth we want to focus aggressively on Hyundai Advantage, as it will not only help us to retain our old customers through exchange and upgrade schemes, it will also make an interesting business proposition given the phenomenal market for used cars in India.”

Premier Rio launched in India

Today on 28th October, Premier Automobiles has launched its awaited compact SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) model Premier Rio in Indian market. Premier Rio is a luxurious compact SUV model which has been launched with three variants EX, DX and LX and all these three variants are priced in the range of Rs 5.25 lacs to Rs 5.95 lacs (as ex-showroom prices in Mumbai). With the launch of Premier Rio, Premier Automobile which was the well known name in Indian auto market for its car Padmini, tries to come back in Indian auto market. Also the launch of Premier Rio will surely make competition tough in this segment which is currently dominated by Maruti Gypsy, Mahindra Bolero and Mahindra Scorpio. Premier Automobiles has launched Premier Rio as a joint venture with the Chinese auto manufacturer Zotye Auto.

The Premier Rio will be imported as a CKD (Completly Knocked Down Unit) from its parent company Zotye Auto and it will be assembled at company Chinchwad based manufacturing plant near Pune. Premier Rio is powered by the 1.5L, 1489cc, Turbo charged diesel engine that produces 65PS of maximum power at 4000rpm with 152Nm of maximum torque at 2250rpm. This turbocharged diesel engine delivers good engine performance with better fuel efficiency.

Maitreya Doshi, The chairman and managing director of Premier Automobiles, said that the Premier Rio is not going to compete with the other SUVs, “ours model is a much more compact model.” Premier Ltd. will source 20%-25% of the parts for the Premier Rio from Indian suppliers.

Premier Automobiles plans for 20 dealership showrooms in India initially and in the upcoming month’s company have plans to extend its business. Premier Automobiles has plans to produce 500 units of the Premier Rio every month till March 2010 and it will be ramped up depending on demand.

Maruti SX4 Automatic launched in India

Maruti Suzuki, India's largest passenger car manufacturer has launched the newer version of its most popular luxurious sedan model Maruti SX4 with new engine and some cosmetic changes in its interiors. The newer version of Maruti SX4 will be powered by the new generation advanced VVT (Variable Valve Timing) petrol engine which is also BS IV compliant. Maruti has launched also the automatic transmission version of Maruti SX4 which will be equipped with the four speed automatic transmission gearbox. The all new Maruti SX4 is the first A-3 segment sedan model in Indian auto market which will be powered by the BS IV compliant petrol engine. Maruti has set Maruti SX4 price in the range of Rs 6.68 lacs to Rs 8.35 lacs (as ex-showroom prices in New Delhi).

Premier Rio launch tomorrow

Premier Automobiles plans to come back in Indian market with the launch of Premier Rio in SUV segment. According to the company official Premier Rio will be launched in Indian market on 28th of this October in Mumbai. Premier Automobiles will launch Premier Rio in Indian market as a joint venture with a Chinese comoany Zotye Auto. According to the company official, Premier Rio will be imported as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) kits from its parent company in China and it will be assembled here at the company’s manufacturing plant at Chinchwad near Pune which has an annual capacity to produce 20,000 unit of cars. The company has still officially confirmed the Premier Rio price but it is expected that Premier Rio price will be fall in the range of Rs 5.5 to 7 lacs. According to the sources, Zotye Auto had bought the rights to the last-generation vehicle from auto major Daihatsu which had stopped production this particular model a few years ago.

Premier Rio will be a compact SUV model and it is expected that it will be equipped with the 1.5-litre, 1496cc, 4 cylinder engine from Peugot product portfolio and it produces 65bhp of maximum power. The launch of Premier Rio will also will also mark the entry of a Chinese four-wheeler company in Indian auto market. The company official is said that they are working on to make a new dealer network for Indian auto market and they comprising of as many as 50 outlets which is expected to happen by the end-2010.

Premier Rio will be the first of its kind in the Indian auto market, because of its compact size as no other car models are available in compact SUV segment. However, Skoda plans to launch its compact SUV model Skoda Yeti in Indian market that is expected to be launched in Indian market in January 2010.

The launch of Premier Rio is going to make the way tough for Mahindra Scorpio, Tata Safari and Mahindra Xylo, Mahindra Bolero, Chevrolet Tavera and Toyota Innova because of its highly competitive price tag. Despite the lower price tag, the Premier Rio isn’t likely to compromise on technical specs, performance and other equipment levels.

Volkswagen Polo ready to launch in India

German luxury car manufacturer Volkswagen ready to launch its premium hatchback model Volkswagen Polo in Indian market very soon. The top company executive said that Volkswagen Polo will be launched in Indian market in the first half of 2010. Volkswagen initially looking for the 50% of localization for Volkswagen Polo to reduce its overall manufacturing cost. The company plans to launch Volkswagen Polo in both petrol and diesel trims and according to the senior company official all variants of Volkswagen Polo will be available in the range of Rs 4 to 6 lacs.

"The Volkswagen Polo will be launched in Indian market early next year. The hatchback version of Volkswagen Polo will be launched in the first quarter of 2010 while the sedan version of Volkswagen Polo will be launched in the second- half," Member of the Board and Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Neeraj Garg, told. He added that the testing of Volkswagen Polo is going on and it will be launched with both petrol and diesel engine option.

Volkswagen has recently setup its 500-acre manufacturing plant at Chakan near Pune which has capacity to manufacture 1,10,000 units of car per year. Volkswagen has invested around Rs 3,800 crore at this manufacturing plant.

Volkswagen is currently selling two models in India Volkswagen Jetta and Volkswagen Passat in premium D segment. But now company planning to capture more share in Indian market as more than 70% of car buyers falls in small hatchback segment in Indian auto market. Volkswagen also plans to introduce in premium small car model Volkswagen Beetle and premium SUV Volkswagen Touareg in Indian market very soon.

Other than the Volkswagen Polo some models are also going to launch in Indian market like Skoda Yeti, Toyota Prius, Maruti Eko, Tata Indicruz, diesel version of Honda City, Volkswagen Phaeton and newer version of Honda Jazz and Fiat Linea.

Tata Manza: festival bonanza

This is festival time for all of us and for auto companies too.....! We have seen four car launches in the current month- Chevrolet Cruze, BMW Z4 and Tata Manza. Tata cars are awaited with much excitement and curiosity as it known for its innovative technology and experiment with machines. So keeping the same spirit, we started to cover the Tata Manza. We were all amazed to see the new Tata Manza as it is having altogether new avatar.

Let me tell you that Tata Manza is launched in four variants both in petrol (quaorjet) and diesel (safire) engine- Tata Manza Aqua, Tata Manza Aura, Tata Manza Aqua (ABS) and Tata Manza Aura Plus. The price tags of all these variants starts from Rs 4.8 lakh to 6.75 lakh. The models are available in different hues like breeze blue, dew white, grey noir, gold satin, infinity black, minimal grey and monarch red.

The quaorjet diesel engine with a displacement of 1248cc churns a maximum power of 90 Ps at 4,000 rpm and develops a maximum torqe of 200 Nm at 1750-3000 rpm. On the other hand, 1368cc petrol Safire engine generartes same 90 Ps at 6,000 rpm while it develops 116 Nm at 4750 rpm. Overall length, width and height is 4413 mm, 1703 mm and 1550 mm respectively. The fuel tank of the car is 44 litres. It sports ventilated disc brakes at front and drum type at rear.

In the showroom, Roshan Motors, Jaipur, the sales officer was more excited than us when describing the features of the sedan. He used his all energy and knowledge to make sure we were convinced.

As far as comfort and convenience is concerned, the higher end variant has one shot power window down movement at driver side, rear power windows, tilt adjustable power steering, height adjustable driver's seat, lumber support for front seat with two way adjustable, rearseat center armrest, cup holder on rear seat center armrest, boot lamp and ample legroom at front seat. The dashboard of the car is equipped with 2 din music system, audio controls on steering wheel, bluetooth connectivity, USB playback and infrared remote for audio. Driver information system sports digial clock and fuel consumption, distance to empty and ambient temperature indicator.

The sexy sedan comes in attractive two-tone beige interior colour scheme, vanity mirror and light on co-driver's sunvisor, illuminating ring around keyhole, storage tray and pockets and bottle holder on floor console.

Chrome plated grilles are there in higher end variant of Tata Manza. A beep sound would be turn on if the seat belts are not used when driving. Let's see the exterior of the car. Rear lamps are in new shape and the complete rear side look seems to be borrowed from Logan. In addition to this, height of the back is reduced as against Tata Indica Vista.

Outer door handles, front and side rub rails are painted in body colour. Only the higher end variant is having electrically controlled outer rear view mirror. Same is the case of chrome inserts on rub rails and door handles.

No variant is equipped with alloy wheels.

Tata has equipped Tata Indigo Manza with most of the latest safety features. These include collapsible steering, high mount LED stop lamp, child lock on rear doors, immobiliser, central locking, remote controlled keyless entry, ABS, dual front SRS airbags and retractor, pretensioners and load limiters on front seat belts. Dual airbags and retractor, pretensioners and load limiters on front seat belts come in Tata Manza Aura Plus.
