“The real show is the Art Directors Club of Metropolitan Washington’s annual competition giving college students the opportunity to solve real life communication design problems. Student pieces are judged by a panel of designers and the winning pieces are displayed in the Art Institute of Washington.”

Concept: 925 Furniture is a starting-up company who produces easy to assemble hardwood furniture. They were in need of a logo and stationary set that would reflect the company’s products.

Design: This stationary set reflects the modularity and convenience of the 925 Furniture line. The logo itself breaks apart into 3 modular building blocks. With these pieces, a countless amount of arrangements and structures can be built. The cards, printed on balsa wood, can be used to showcase the variety of stains and finishes that are offered. Throughout the stationary set, there are diagrams illustrating how to arrange and rearrange the 925 logo blocks.

Julien Hauchecorne was dreaming about a highly finished business card design but did not know what was technically possible. I came up with two proposal and we consented to produce 500 of each project.

Business cards are printed on two subtle duplexed uncoated smooth paper manufactured by GFSmith to reach 700 gsm and both cards have a deep debossed monogram logo on the front side. The 500 cards are printed on the backside with a powerful lime green foil on an ebony black and dark grey duplexed substrate with a lime green foil fore-edge printing process on the outside edges of the business cards.

I know that this sounds pretty technical but I am afraid it is the only way to precisely describe both jobs.

This is the Business Card for my own company, “KONTUR design”. I wanted to create a well thought-throught business card that reflects my creativity. Because I like packaging design, I decided to wrap it in a fitting holder, and I used special paper with texture.
The flower is graphic and used like a seal. It can also symbolize a shutter to relate to photography-part of my business. The blue color stands for seriousness. The one who receives the card should feel that this is something more than the ordinary, become curious and want to show it to others. I often get very positive reactions when I give away the card, and I think the first impression is important in convincing the client.

What inspired?
First thing, and to be honest, the first thing anyone would think about this region is the Andes Mountains, but then it made sense, Marcia starts with an M… an M looks like a mountain… then the rest was plain design.
