Design Lead – Carrier Implementation

The Design Lead leads discovery sessions with carrier representatives in order to capture and document data exchange requirements for carrier partner implementations. These requirements deal specifically with the flow of data between carrier systems and the eEnrollment, eBilling, eDirect, and eSales applications.

The Design Lead is responsible for communicating data exchange requirements to the Benefitfocus engineering team and for working with the Joint Carrier Tester to ensure that test scenarios adequately capture project requirements. The Design Lead serves as the primary point of contact for carrier representatives and for Benefitfocus associates for all requirements questions that surface during development, joint carrier testing, and the transition of the project to the Benefitfocus operations team.

In addition to creating detailed design documents for carrier partner projects, the Design Lead is also focused on process improvement at Benefitfocus. Therefore, the Design Lead is responsible for creating and improving Benefitfocus standard specifications and methodologies, as well as creating and maintaining discovery questionnaires and design templates related to data exchange.

This is a full-time position that requires excellent written and verbal communication skills in addition to exceptional organization and time management skills. A successful candidate for this position must posses the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively and must have experience with complex systems integration projects.

Responsibilities

.Manage multiple discovery projects simultaneously.
.Lead on-site and over the phone data exchange discovery sessions with carrier representatives.
.Capture and document detailed data exchange requirements for carrier partner projects.
.Work with carrier representatives to resolve open requirements questions and to obtain signoff on requirements documents in accordance with the overall project plan.
.Communicate requirements to the Benefitfocus engineering team.
.Work closely with engineering throughout the development process to answer requirements questions and to ensure successful delivery of data exchange features.
.Communicate project requirements to the Joint Carrier Tester.
.Work with the Joint Carrier Tester to ensure that test scenarios adequately capture project requirements.
.Keep project requirements documents current throughout all phases of implementation.
.Maintain and improve upon Benefitfocus discovery methodologies in order to ensure consistency across implementations.
.Maintain a thorough knowledge of the Benefitfocus eEnrollment, eBilling, eDirect and eSales applications.
.Maintain a thorough knowledge of 834 as well as all Benefitfocus standard data formats.
.Represent Benefitfocus in a courteous, professional manner everywhere.
.Maintain a positive, “can-do” attitude at all times.
.Work a full-time schedule and put in necessary extra time needed to meet project goals and milestones.

Experience and Skills

.Bachelor’s degree is required
.3 + years of experience in software development and implementation environment
.Prefer background in business application consulting with client-facing experience

Starting Salaries

Then there are salaries. Google is paying computer science majors just out of college $90,000 to $105,000, as much as $20,000 more than it was paying a few months ago. That is so far above the industry average of $80,000 that start-ups cannot match Google salaries. Google declined to comment.

Then later:

Colleges rarely teach the newer programming languages like PHP, Ruby and Python, which have become more popular at young Web companies than older ones like Java, he said. Other skills, like working with large amounts of data and analytics, can be acquired only at a few companies.

“There are few programs that actually teach those things, and yet that’s the primary people we hire,” Mr. Lee said.

CCA has location on both the East and West Coast, Paris, Spain and in Canada. CCA has been providing talent for over a decade and we do not plan to stop offering quality talent any time soon. I would love to have a team of USC students to build an Android App for Capital Connections Agency. I feel that this would be a great class project and something that your students, can also reference back to in the further. This will be the first talent booking agency android app made for mobile devices. After this task is done your school and students will get national news media attention. Thank you

Alumnus Talks about his Graphics and Video Game Company

You might want to hear from one of our successful alumni, Chris King. He will be speaking on Monday evening, 5:30PM, February 21st, at an event called "Midnight Innovation - Celebrating Engineering, Computing, and Entrepreneurship" as part of our Engineer's Week celebrations. Mr. King, along with his partner Michael Sechrest, have been described as the classic innovator in video gaming, and more recently Avatar-like visual effects (see here). He has created in the ten years since graduating a very successful company in the video game middleware industry, which is now moving into cinema special effects with resounding accolades. Chris will share his and Michael's adventures with our students and faculty in this session.

Pizza and soft drinks will be provided.

Chris will be joined by Jeff McElroy, Al Quick, and James Clark (from Bang Technologies, Inc.) who have served on USC's Research Foundation Board and have been long-time supporters of USC CEC. They will also be joined by Dean Kress and Richard Robinson, both builders of the Faber Entrepreneurship Center @ USC.

Here in Columbia there is a new initiative called IT-oLogy. Their goals are to

Change the face of IT by encouraging all students to consider opportunities available in IT
Advance IT careers by supporting networking and professional development
Grow the economy by spurring existing companies to create new jobs and attracting new companies to the state and region

The have a job bank which lists open jobs, check it out.
