I got out my trusty Canon PowerShot G3 last night before I went to bed and set it up to take this time lapse video of a lily. The G3 has a built-in intervalometer. So this was set to take a picture at 5 minute intervals over a 7 hour period. I thought the lily would open up at a pretty linear pace but it didn't. Most of it's movement was in the last hour. So when I do this again I need to judge when that hour is and reduce the interval time.
I've moved house so it's been a bit quiet round the website for a couple of months. I finally came to the the end of my tether with the daily commute between Glasgow and Edinburgh. I'd been doing that for three and a half years. I have no idea how I managed it for so long and it's only now that I'm not doing that journey everyday that I realise how much of an impact it had on my life. I now have a short cycle to work, mostly on a cycle path. What a difference it makes. This is a short clip from a trip to Lower Largo in Fife last Sunday. It's the first time I've been there. A nice wee place. It was very cold though. Brrr. Didn't know anything about Lower Largo till I did a google search when I got back home. It was the birth place of Alexander Selkirk who apparently provided the inspiration for Daniel Defoe's "Robinson Crusoe" novel which I have to say have never read or been interested in. This is the inscription on the wall at the Alexander Selkirk statue.
I took this video clip back in April 2006. A saturday evening drive to the Loup of Fintry. I found this place doing the GCNPAX geocache last year. I've discovered some really great places that I would never have known about had it not been for geocaching. I made a short video last year about geocaching if you haven't heard of it before.
I live in Glasgow but work in Edinburgh and sometimes, once in a blue moon, I'll go for a wonder round the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh at lunchtime. This is a video from a lunchtime visit last week.
The Clyde Tunnel in Glasgow runs under the River Clyde connecting the north and south sides of the City. Some quick facts - it's 2500ft long, has a gradient of 6 percent and was opened in 1963.

I used two stills cameras going through the tunnel. One facing the road (Canon Ixus 50) and one facing me (Canon PowerShot G3). I was planning to mention some facts going through the tunnel but it was too dark for my G3 to pick up and it was rattling a bit on the tripod. But I wanted to try the picture-in-picture thing so I pop up at the beginning and end for no apparent reason!

Last day of 2005 in Rothesay

Just back from visiting my Gran. And as one of the boats had broken down again I had some time to spare before the last boat so I took some photos of various lights and stuck them into Photo Story 3 UPDATE - If you're having problems viewing the video above you might like to try the lo-res version. Photo Story is great but the wmv file it produces uses a special codec to decompress the video and you may not have it if you're using an older version of Window Media Player or you're on a Mac. Thanks to Gary for checking it out on a mac.
The Serpentine Road in Rothesay is a squiggly road leading up to Canada Hill. A bit like Lombard Street in San Francisco. I drove up (and down for good measure!). On the way down you can briefly see views over to Rothesay Bay.
