The Compact SUV

Exterior

KIA is going to launch the 3rd Model in India named Sonet as this is a Compact SUV. After the successful launch of Seltos and Carnival KIA is all set for the 3rd one. This will come in two category - GT line and Premium Tech Line.The GT line has the Red extracts on the car whereas the Tech Line comes with the Silver highlights.

The front design of this SUV is really appealing with the Diamond Knurling on the Tiger Nose Chrome grill there is carbon fibre material at the end which is enhancing the beauty of this car. The red front clippers is not been mentioned earlier by the manufacturer seems to be a first in segment. The bumper is also having a great space to pass the air although coming with the Ground clearance of 205 mm.

The Day Running lights are flawless moving from the top to bottom with a great curve. As this is the GT line so there are some red coloured accents are present. The outer-look of the "Tiger Nose Grill" looks like a smiling face. In the end when the grill combines with the C-Pillars giving a whole Sporty feel.

The 16 inch dual tone alloy wheels gives the elegant look to this SUV. The design is also stealing the view from Top to bottom of the car. As the outer black cladding on the car gives the wider appearance to enrich the beauty of this automobile.

The new Mahindra Thar coming after a long interval of time but the changes happened in this would be required as there are lot of competitors that were exceeding day by day. The overall design is inspired by Jeep Wrangler. Let's have a look at this Off-Roader.

Exterior

Few Cosmetic changes are there as built on Body Frame Construction however in the front section the Grill design is revamped over some hooks founded on the hood are looking beautiful and giving a complete massive look to this 4*4 beauty. The round halogen headlamp and Fog Lamps are similar as the new LED Day Running Lights were installed. The front suspension system is independent.

As more variants are there due to high demand in the current market as Hard Top, Convertible and Soft Top Options also these changes are required now as to taken back the trend of the New Thar. This new model is more longer and wider as compare to the antecedent one. The convertible variant have manual adjustments as per the requirements.

The Atlantic Type 57 was the expensive car to be old before the World War II with the price tag of $12.45 Million now converted in to Bugatti La Voiture Noire which is revealed at Geneva Motor Show the expected price for this car is $18.68 Million including taxes.

Bugatti's La Voiture Noire is the most expensive new car ever made as the Italian Manufacturer put more efforts to make the design of the car pure aerodynamics so that the can meet upto all the possible parameters as Bugatti is well known brand for its Speed.

Having a look on the side view of this massive beauty is just telling that i am ready to fly with all the curves. The wheels are well designed to balance the vehicle while on the top speed as the spokes of the car is having strength and endurance to handle it in every situation made up with the composite materials in addition with lot of carbon fiber is used to make it more lighter.

The Design is purely inspired on the basis of High Speed machine running on four wheels as the Bugatti is always the trend setter for the Top Speed cars loaded with W16 Engine 8.0 Liters producing the 1479 HP from 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds and the Top Speed is 261 mph.

The LED Headlights of the car is nicely placed and are widen so that the vision can be more longer. ABOUT THE CAR

The Maruti Suzuki's new MPV XL6 based upon the design of present Ertiga with some cosmetic changes this car comes with some first new segment features. This is the first car for NEXA coming up with three row Seats presenting with better Crossover Styling.

EXTERIOR

Having a look from the front angle the view it gives the glimpse that car is having something makes it more flamboyant from the present model of this car that was Ertiga. The placement of the logo is perfectly arranged among the chrome grill. The length of the car is 4475mm, width of 1775mm and height will be 1770mm. The turning radius of 5.2 meters.

The new designed LED Headlamps with integrated Day Running Lights (DRL'S) along with the indicators.The size of the headlamps is nicely optimized so that it did not appear to be a giant lights.

There are some changes by which the car becomes 40mm wider and 10mm higher of the XL6. Ther ground clearance of the car is remains the same as 185mm.

The black 15 inch alloys and the mirror caps is same as available in Ertiga but the Black roughed theme is rocked all the way. Sometimes it feels like Maruti has to take some decisions to make larger wheel base for increasing the vehicle stability when the car is fully loaded with the passengers and the luggage.

INTERIOR

The Dual Tone Beige cabin is refreshing when enters into the cabin. The dash comes up with the well finished Faux-wood as in Ertiga. The 7 inch touchscreen instrument cluster is there in the cabin of XL6 supported with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Although it seems to be more darker cabin in all the Maruti's ambiance coming with the push button start/stop with key-less entry.

About the Car

Hyundai will launch its First Electric SUV in India on 9th July, 2019. After launching it is available in 16 Cities of India initially such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai and many more.

Globally Kona will be available in two Variants - 39KW battery pack with 312Km of Range and other is 64KW battery pack with 482Km in single charge.

Exterior

This Crossover gets something which makes its unique from the other Electric Vehicles present in the market. Kona is 4.2 Meters long and 1.8 Meters in width nearly same size as Creta. Somehow Kona does not look like a bigger SUV but this Crossover is get something to stand in the market.

Hyundai Kona is aerodynamic in design and size of this segment. The black plastic cladding all over the car makes it upstanding among the other crossovers in the industry.

The rear look of the car is similar to some models of Hyundai like Creta and Tucson but the section in the bottom with the indicators and back light is spliced from the Taillights giving a new essence to this flamboyance to this Electric Vehicle. Somehow it appears that the rear windscreen is small in size but it is designed to keep in mind everything according to the customer.

No Chrome Grills is there just a plastic cover to open the Charging Module of the car which makes the elevation of this car more approachable. The idea of the plastic module is more simple but it gives the protection to the charging zone.
The Lithium Ion battery is gets charged up-to 80% in just 54 Minutes with 100Kw DC fast charger which is very convenient.

Interior

The cabin of this Crossover is made by different materials with fine finishing and design in Dual Tone so that it look more elegant. The petrol engine will be a 1.5-litre, turbocharged unit capable of producing 143PS of maximum power. The diesel engine will be the same 2.0-litre unit that powers the Compass. Here, it produces 170PS of maximum power. While not confirmed, a leaked document suggests that the petrol-powered Hector will return a mileage of 14.16kmpl with the manual transmission and 13.96kmpl with the dual-clutch automatic. The diesel Hector, on the other hand, is expected to deliver 17.41kmpl.

The new Audi A6 is the 6th Generation of this all new sedan series. The downsized version of a capable Flagship cars from AUDI. From this new generation the expections are very high but it is not that satisfying. As with all new A8, A7 and A6 is a expression of the new Era of Design Language.

Exterior

The car looks almost same size as forerunner and maintained the similar footprints. As this version of A6 is seems to be the baby version of A8. With large surface, sculpted edges and striking lines this business sedan conveys its character of high tech and sophistication. There are obvious characteristics that bind them together as siblings though - a muscular hood, masculine flanks and a character-defining sharp crease over the rear fender.

The headlamp is stunning, with slim DRLs (daytime running lights) and great use of layering. The matrix LED headlamp is made up of 32 LED units, and is likely to be standard on the Indian spec. The taillights are the car's signature - with sharp horizontal LED lines and short vertical ones below it. Both are separated by a chrome strip that travels across the back of the boot lid and slices through both taillights.

The Porsche Macan has received a mild facelift for the 2019 model year and been revealed globally. The Macan is the smaller of the two SUVs offered by Porsche. Its current generation had debuted in India in 2016. For 2019, the Porsche Macan receives technology updates as well as new taillights. The LED lights at the rear are the biggest change you will notice on the exterior. There is now an LED strip that connects the taillights. In China, the 2019 Macan also receives LED headlights as standard.

Exterior

This stunning SUV has a mid-facelift segment which comes with new features but the front part of this car coming up with few changes in the front bumper with new headlamps and neither as the bonnet in this mid-facelift model. and wider front grill in the front section of the car.

More changes into the cabin features as the new 11 inch touch infotainment system is installed instead of 7 inch unit seen on the outgoing version which comes up with Apple CarPlay and Android Support. Also get the New Porsche Communication Management (PCM) seen on the New Cayenee. This module supports various digital functions and services such as intelligent voice control, real-time traffic information and “Here Cloud” connection, which offers swarm-based traffic data. Another addition to the Macan’s cabin is the new optional GT steering wheel which comes with a ‘Sport Response Button’. Like in other Porsche cars, pressing it would give 20 seconds of heightened engine and transmission response mainly for quick overtaking.

Also not easy is needling my way through downtown Mallorca’s combo of rush-hour traffic and
tricky one-ways in this weather. It’s not because of the car, of course, which in Comfort mode is as easy to drive as I remember the old one to be. There is a certain degree of heft to the way everything feels in a Porsche, any Porsche, especially when you compare it to rivals of a similar size and type. Compare the Macan to a Q5 or X3, for instance, and it’s not quite as light to steer, and the ride – though it’s on air suspension – does feel a little firmer.

The updated Macan is equipped with Traffic Jam Assist system. It includes an adaptive cruise control function and lane keep assist to offer semi-automated driving up to 60kmph. It also gets a new Off-Road Precision App that lets you record and analyse your off-road driving experiences.

The Macan facelift also features redesigned central AC vents that now sit below the infotainment screen. The new setup gives the Macan's ageing cabin a sense of freshness. The previous model had the central AC vents on either side of the infotainment screen. The new Macan also gets features such as a heated windscreen and air ionizer for better air quality inside the cabin.

Engine and Performance

The details is not revealed by the Porsche Motor but expecting is that this car coming up with Electric Engine along with Petrol and Diesel Engines.

However, we expect them to remain similar to the outgoing model, at least in India. Here, the pre-facelift Macan is offered with two engine options. The more affordable option is powered by a 2.0-litre (252PS/370 Nm) petrol engine that sends power to all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Porsche claims this variant of the Macan can go from 0-100kmph in 6.7 seconds.

The Macan Turbo is also available with a Performance Package which bumps the engine output to 440PS/600Nm while shaving 0.4s second from the standard Turbo’s 0-100kmph time.

Porsche also offers the Macan Turbo in India. This variant is powered by a 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine, which makes 400PS/550Nm, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. It has a 0-100kmph time of 4.8 seconds.

The interior is designed to keep in mind that the needs of the driver should be fulfilled as the low seats although not to everyone’s fancy, compliments the feeling.The quality of materials at large is good and we particularly liked the stitching on the leather seats which looks like it belongs to a more expensive car.

The ports for HDMI, USB and the 12V charging socket are hard to reach and to access the USB port for the rear, one has to get into below the front centre armrest to access it. As the touchscreen system is trending these days so it becomes a necessary part of the accessories.You get a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an eight-way power adjustable driver’s seat and a smart key (which can be used to turn the engine on and off, operate the sunroof and power windows and open the boot) are standard. The fully digital information cluster connects with the phone book, call history and music which is very reliable to use.

Look what we get new digital instrument cluster from the CR-V. When it comes to digital meter which is well designed as keeping in mind all the needs to get familiar with the driver perception. The work done on the meter console is really appreciable.

Less number of buttons on the gear box only some features are there which is parking mode, eco mode and Brake hold which is enough. Some empty buttons are there to get a proper mirror image of the gear box enhance the attention.

The rear seats of the Civic are a tad low and that is done intentionally to liberate more headroom in a car with a sloping roofline. This makes ingress and egress difficult particularly for the elderly who are likely to occupy the back seats all the time. When you sit in them, you don’t get the sense of space that you expect from a D-segment sedan. In fact, the City seems to offer more space. The legroom is adequate but no more and the headroom, though not very tight is still scarce. It is surprising because Honda has always been the champion of carving out more space in a compact footprint.

Engine and Performance

Honda is offering the Civic in India with two engine options. Starting with the petrol, it’s the 1.8-litre unit that outputs 141 HP and 174 Nm. The engine is smooth and refined but the gearbox choice plays spoilsport as far as enthusiasm goes because it’s slow to respond, has the rubber band effect in the top-end and overall performance isn’t impressive for a Civic. The bottom-end isn’t strong and the more you rev the motor, the more it rewards you with progress. Redline comes in at 6500 RPM and the Civic petrol does have a good top-end, making a sporty snarl past 5000 RPM. A manual gearbox would have been really welcome in the Civic petrol as the engine is a gem but the CVT box doesn’t let one exploit the best out of this VTEC mill.

Coming to the better engine on offer on the Honda Civic, it happens to be the 1.6-litre i-DTEC unit that also powers the CR-V but unlike the crossover, the Civic uses a 6-speed manual gearbox and not a 9-speed automatic. The oil burner lacks refinement, is vocal, more so as you rev it past the mid-range. It does excel in drivability with good low-end lunch, turbo lag being very well contained. Top-end is lacking but the engine is free revving and reaches 4800 RPM on the tachometer. The 6-speed gearbox is smooth shifting and the clutch is light too.

The unveil took place at the first ever Audi Global Summit in Barcelona.The Bold and Elegant design always be a eye catcher. The language of the design shout out loud the truly luxury flooded with obnoxious technology and connectivity. The new generation Audi A8L will also be capable of advanced Level 3 autonomous driving, the first of its kind for any automobile globally.

Exterior

Judging purely on exterior design, probably not. In spite of the light show it performs every time it's unlocked, the A8 is understated, almost to the point of looking plain. The design is inspired by the luxury makers but not expecting the look with the older models of the Audi.

Even if the A8's styling isn't exciting enough for you, it only takes one glance to recognize it's a large car. The U.S. only gets the longer A8 L, which has a 123.1-inch wheelbase and measures 208.7 inches overall. Compared to the A6, that's an extra 8.0 inches of wheelbase and 14.3 inches of overall length.

Surprisingly, the A8 handles curves pretty well. It's no R8, but in Dynamic mode, it's more nimble than you'd expect a 17-foot, 4,700-pound luxury sedan to be. Does it understeer at the limit? Probably. But if you plan to take corners fast enough to find out, full-size luxury sedans probably aren't for you.

The front grill design becomes more wider and giving the elegant look. As for more power let the more air come into the engine section. All about the design is something similar with the other Audi models but somehow it looks courteous.

The Tail light is becoming s part of show stopper as the design is very new in this segment and the whole new look is revealed in this luxury sedan. More abrupt part is the tail light joining from the left section towards the right part looks amazing and inspiring .

Interior

With Audi's Virtual Cockpit and two large touchscreens, the center console is largely devoid of knobs and buttons. Thankfully, Audi also took the time to develop a system that's intuitive to use and responds quickly to inputs, so the lack of buttons shouldn't be an issue. Even the remote for passengers lucky enough to ride in the back seat is easy to use. The fact that Audi's high-resolution graphics look great is just a bonus.

We don't need to spend any more time with the cabin to confirm it's fantastic, though. Material quality throughout is top notch, with handsome leather, wood, and Alcantara suede covering almost every surface that isn't a display. The seating position in front is excellent, as is the A8's yoke-like steering wheel. Technically a four-spoke design, it features the usual spokes at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions, along with two more sprouting from the rim on the bottom half of the steering wheel. The result of this design is something that both looks very nice and is an absolute delight to handle. Form and function have never been so happy together.

But Audi's new layout for its MMI Touch Response system will take some adjusting to. Organized by tiles, it offers plenty of customizability, but older versions of MMI were dead simple to learn. MMI Touch Response feels far deeper and more complicated, like Audi is trying to do too much right out of the gate. Of course, it's very possible our opinion will change once we've spent more time with the latest version of MMI.

But the clean, modern design still feels fresh. The wood trim on the dash that retracts to reveal hidden air vents is an especially nice touch. If you're going to buy an A8, though, you better like piano-black plastic. It doesn't show fingerprints as much as you'd expect, but it's a major part of the design of the dash and center console.

The most protagonist part is the center lever and the whole outlook of the section appeared with lots of features which is very useful as the technology is reaching to the heights so it a very intricate part of the entire interior section.

In back, Audi offers two seating layouts. A standard bench does a good impression of the more impressive Executive Rear Seat Comfort package and its two individual seats. The center of the bench folds down, exposing cupholders, seat adjustments, and yet another display for controlling the rear climate, the audio system, the power blinds, the ambient lighting, and other systems.

On the other hand features are not finished yet the center console on the rear seat is there for the adjustment of the seats and the look of the panel is very attractive giving a fresh feeling when it comes to long drive. As most of the cars did not have this idea it is very unique.

Engine and Performance

The A8 is not, however, a pleasantly quick car. Audi will launch a V8-powered A8 in the future, but it's launching for 2019 with nothing more than a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6, good for 335 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. Getting to 60 miles per hour takes 5.6 seconds, a number we'd categorize as “leisurely” for a flagship luxury sedan. An all-wheel-drive BMW 740i – a car with only 320 hp and 330 lb-ft of torque – takes just 5.1 seconds to hit 60, while the Mercedes-Benz S450 4Matic (362 hp and 369 lb-ft) does the deed in 5.4 seconds.

Executing passing maneuvers in the PCH's few passing zones required more planning than it should in a vehicle of this stature. The eight-speed automatic downshifted quickly, which made the A8 feel deceptively quick at the start of a passing maneuver, but as speeds climbed the engine started to run out of steam. The V6-powered A8 simply doesn't have the staying power it needs.

Aside from these passing situations, though, this remains a likable combination. The 3.0-liter V6 is quiet in everyday conditions, but it sounds pleasant and refined when pushed. And the eight-speed auto is charming. It’s composed and relaxed when puttering around town, but in Dynamic mode, it’s an easy transmission to have fun with. Kick it into the sportiest setting and work the wheel-mounted paddles, and (along with DAWS) the A8 starts feeling far sportier and engaging than it has any right to.

About the Car

Ford has given its Flagship SUV a nip and tuck for 2019.
The New Ford Endeavour face-lift appears to come with several minor cosmetic updates, along with a host of new and updated features. The New Ford Endeavour face-lift model is officially launched on 22nd of Feb 2019 updated with the front and rear bumpers along with 18 inch alloys. Also the front grill is remake by adding some more chrome slates into it.

Exterior

The less changes from the last model as the SUV is upgraded with some of the features but the outer look is somehow not changed. The front bumper looks more elegant with wide central airdam and silver frame around it. The skid plate design has been unchanged whereas the fog light has been revised. Although the projector headlamps and LED day running lights is unaltered.

On the other hand the 18 inch alloys looks very appealing with new bolder six-twin spokes while the rest is remains unchanged, including the engine badging right above the front wheel arch.

The rear look of the car is continued featured with same bumpers, taillamps not more changed as comparing with the front look .The OVRM's, roof rails and foot-board is carried over from the present model of this massive SUV.

Interior

Moving to the cabin look of the SUV is lurking. The small details were upgraded which is very quintessential for this new Face-lift model. The dash board and front console looks pretty identical with the same placement for the touchscreen display, air con vents and the driving mode dial. The infotainment system has been updated with company's latest software supporting with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with Ford's very own SYNC3 connectivity system.

The different types of driving which attracts the driver towards the off-roading specially with this beast powered by massive engine. Other features will include power seats from both driver and front passenger, an engine start-stop button, and although we do not get see it here, a panoramic sunroof as well.

Under the Hood

The existing 2.2-litre four-cylinder and 3.2-litre five-cylinder diesel engines have been carried forward from the pre-facelift model. Internationally, both units have been replaced by 2.0-litre unit that is available in single-turbo and twin-turbo versions.

Interestingly, the 2.2-litre unit will be offered with the choice of a manual gearbox with 4WD. The manual 4WD variants had previously been discontinued on the pre-facelift 2.2-litre model. The larger 3.2-litre diesel will be offered solely with a 6-speed automatic gearbox as standard, along with 4WD.

Ford has also revised the variants on offer with the facelifted Endeavour. It is set to retail only in Titanium and a new Titanium+ trim. The entry-level Trend variant offered on the outgoing model will be discontinued.

The updated Ford Endeavour will rival the likes of the Mahindra Alturas G4, Toyota Fortuner, Isuzu MU-X and the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport when it goes on sale.

Maruti Suzuki Wagon R went on sale in India on January 23, 2019, and the car has received a generation upgrade after 8 years. The new 2019 Wagon R is completely different from the model sold in Japan, making it the third-generation model in India. The new Wagon R is based on the company versatile 5th generation Heartect platform, which makes it stronger and more rigid than the previous generation model. Furthermore, the new Wagon R has also grown in size and its now longer by 60 mm, wider by 145 mm, and the wheelbase has also been increased by 35 mm. The height of the car, however, has marginally come down by 25 mm.

Exterior

The new Maruti Suzuki Wagon R employs a new design language and is now more stylish and a little more upmarket. Up front, the car comes with a new face, with new twin headlamps, a larger grille with a chrome slat at the centre, and an all-new bumper with a large central airdam with trapezoidal housing for foglamps on either side.

The increased length of the car is quite apparent from its profile, and the car comes with the company’s signature floating roof design element.The new Wagon R’s comes with bold shoulder lines and sharper character lines along the wheel arches.

The rear section of the car has also been heavily updated and now the car comes with a new set of larger vertically positioned taillamps, which are placed higher, besides the windshield. The tailgate is also new and now features a rear windshield wiper and a chrome slat with the Wagon R lettering at the centre. The bumper is also new and beefier and comes with black cladding for protection. Maruti offers the new Wagon R in six colour options - Superior White, Silky Silver, along with four new colours - Magma Grey, Pearl Nutmeg Brown, Pearl Autumn Orange, and Pearl Poolside Blue.

The new 2019 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R now comes with a more upmarket cabin with a nicer-looking dashboard that comes with two-tone black and beige treatment. The centre stage is taken by a touchscreen infotainment system, with a manual air-con system placed below it. On either side of the infotainment system, the cabin features vertically placed air vents with round vents on either
end of the dashboard, but the aircon system is just a manual unit and not an automatic one.

The car also gets a new steering wheel that comes with controls for music and telephony, while the new instrument cluster seems to offer more information. The 2019 Wagon R also gets new fabric upholstery in match beige tones with increased space both for the front and the rear occupants.
The car also gets new dual tone brown and beige fabric upholstery with 60:40 split seats at the rear. Features and Equipment The new Wagon R comes with a new infotainment system, called the SmartPlay Studio.

The system is all new and comes with smartphone connectivity function that allows you to connect three phones at a time. The system also comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with voice control and navigation and more. Safety features including Driver airbag, ABS (antilock braking system) with EBD (electronic brake force distribution), front seatbelts reminder, speed alert system and rear parking sensors are standard across variants.

Engine and Performance

The new Maruti Suzuki Wagon R comes with two petrol engine options under the hood – a 1.0-litre three-cylinder motor and a bigger 1.2-litre four-cylinder K-Series engine as well. The 1.2-litre is the same motor that has been powering the likes of the Swift and Baleno, and it offers the same output of 82 bhp and develops 113 Nm of peak torque. The 1.0-litre unit makes 67 bhp and 90 Nm of peak torque. Both engines are paired to a 5-speed gearbox, along with an optional 5-speed AMT or AGS unit as well.

Price and Mileage

The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R is priced in India from Rs. 4.19 lakh to Rs. 5.69 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The car now also offers an increased mileage of 22.5 kmpl in the 1.0-litre version and 21.5 kmpl in the 1.2-litre version, in both manual and AMT options. In India, the car competes with the likes of the new Hyundai Santro, Tata Tiago, and the Renault Kwid among others.

All New Electric Luxury

About the Car

Let’s address the elephant in the room right at the outset. Toyota's Camry costs Rs 36.95 lakh. Yes, it’s Rs 27,000 LESS compared to the car it replaces. But, by no stretch of imagination, can it be called affordable. On one end you’ve got the Superb from Skoda that’s throwing heavy punches and undercutting the Camry heavily on price, on the other there’s the Honda Accord that’s desirable but priced in a way that hurts your property buying decisions. Let’s not forget that the Camry faces a very credible threat from within the stable in the form of the Toyota Fortuner. We know we’re talking of apples and oranges.

It’s an uphill task for the Camry, sure. We drive the latest generation of what’s a global favourite, and widely hailed as among the most reliable cars you can ever buy, to answer just one question: Should you even consider buying one?

Exterior

‘This can’t be a Camry!’ were our first thoughts when we saw the suave sedan roll up on the fancy 5-star hotel porch. Forgive us for being blunt, but the outgoing generation wasn’t exactly a sight for sore eyes. This, on the other hand, looks good enough for you to want it. We don’t really remember the last time the design on a Toyota car was such a strong point.

It’s grown bigger in size and it shows. With an added 35mm in length, 15mm in width and a whopping 50mm in wheelbase, the Camry looks fitter than ever to be the Saaheb-mobile. With the 25mm drop in height and bigger, 18-inch alloy wheels filling up the large wheel wells, it looks, dare we say, sporty!

Of course, there are bits that we’re not too fond of. For starters, the airdam grille up front makes you wonder if there’s any bumper at all. Then there’s the C-pillar that appears unnecessarily bulky.

Rounding the package off are LED everything. You get bi-beam full-LED headlamps, LED daytime running lamps, LED fog lamps as well as LED tail lamps. It’s like Toyota wanted to save energy here too! We also see chrome being used in a thoughtfully restrained manner. A small splash on the grille, a little dollop around the window line and some more garnishing on the tailgate (with embossed C A M R Y lettering, no less) seal the deal.

Toyota’s Camry then, doesn’t look like the straight-cut textbook luxury sedan anymore. Now, it seems, that it has a personality. And that’s always a fantastic starting point!

Interior

‘This can’t be a Camry!’ No, you’re not reading the same paragraph again. For someone used to the old Camry, the interior will come as a pleasant surprise. While the old one felt a bit too Corolla from every way you looked at it, this feels unique. And, just like the exterior, you sense Toyota has actually put some thought into design instead of following a textbook

Cocooned by the seats, it’s easier to take in the in-cabin experience of the Camry. A prominent Y-shaped accent on the dash immediately grabs attention. Finished in a sombre dull grey, it underscores the gloss-black panel (that houses the touchscreen) above it while complimenting the subtle, light-coloured wood finish that’s around the car. While the gloss black surface looks appealing, we can’t help but wonder how it will hold up to dust and cloth wipes over the years. It looks like a soft target for fingerprints as well as swirl marks. Ice blue ambient lighting strongly contributes to the sense of opulence in the cabin.

As far as storage is concerned, we feel the front door pads are hilariously small to hold anything significant. But Toyota has made up for it big time by offering a massive storage box under the central armrest. You also get a couple of cupholders next to the gear lever and a cubby under the wireless charging dock that can be used to park your phone.

Move to the rear bench and you’d immediately notice better kneeroom. The stretch in wheelbase is definitely paying dividends. Headroom should be adequate for the average Indian. But if you’re 6ft or above, you’ll feel a bit close to the roof and would want a little more support for the under-thigh as well. There’s enough width here to seat three. But the armrest doesn’t sit completely flush, nor feels likes a comfortable place to rest your back against — so we’d suggest using the Camry as a four-seater lounge.

Flipping the central armrest down into use also lets you use the pop-out cupholders. And while it seems like it does, the central portion of the armrest doesn’t open up like the old car. You’ll need to use the storage space in the door pads or the seat back pockets to store your knick-knacks. Since we’re talking seat-backs, it’d have been nice to see a fold-out tray here. You know, when you want to grab a quick meal or work on the go.

There’s plenty of equipment here to be kicked about. Let’s start with the 8-inch touchscreen that takes up most of the real estate on the dash. That said, the layout is intuitive to use with physical keys for practically everything being well within reach from the driver’s seat. Touch response isn’t anything out of the ordinary, and the user interface is easy to grasp as well. Issues? Well, there’s no Android Auto or Apple CarPlay on offer here. And the quality of the video feed from the parking camera could be better.

Paired with this touchscreen is a 9-speaker JBL sound system. Sound isn’t bombastic as the maker’s label would lead you to believe. It feels pleasant and crisp at higher volumes. But at lower levels, it sounds a bit hollow. The tiny subwoofer placed on the parcel shelf manages to just about add some thump to the output. That said, this doesn’t come close to the output from the Superb’s 12-speaker Canton audio system.

More features are there on the front console of the driver side so that different modes can be selected easily as per the need which is very efficient as compare with the other cars.

Engine and Performance

The petrol engine makes 178PS of power and 221Nm of torque. That’s a solid 18PS and 8Nm extra compared to the older engine. On the electric end of things, the system has moved from a 650V to a 245V setup. Power output from the electric motor has reduced, from 143PS to 120PS. Torque too is lower than before — 202Nm vs 270Nm. That said, the combined output of the hybrid drivetrain is higher than before at 218PS (vs 202PS).

Also, yes, the Camry has gained a negligible 30kg compared to the old car. That said, it feels ages better to drive. Much like the old Camry you first need to get used to the sheer silence when you start it up. The pin-drop silence is because the Camry starts up in EV mode. Look for the small ‘Ready’ light on the instrument cluster for your cue. Get going and it’s only the electric motor that drives the front wheel. It feels at ease pushing the car along upto 35-40kmph, under low load conditions. Prod a bit further on the throttle and the 2.5-litre petrol engine comes to life with a small gargle.

Switching to Sport mode makes the throttle snappier, and the petrol engine is on song more often. This is the mode to be in if you like fast-paced highway cruising. Overtaking takes nothing more than a dab of the throttle, and maintaining triple digit speeds feels like second nature to the Camry.

Piecing this experience together is the e-CVT. This too feels more polished than before, responding to part-throttle inputs better. That said, you will hear the engine revving its way to glory for a second or two before you actually see progress. It still doesn’t like being hurried, and would prefer you had predictable inputs on the throttle.

Security

To keep you safe, Toyota is offering 9 airbags on the Camry. There’s anti-lock braking, brake assist, vehicle stability control and traction control as well. You also get front and rear parking sensors that lets you park this behemoth without breaking a sweat.

About the Car

The Kicks is a redesigned and re-engineered model just for India. It's meant to be a more premium alternative to their Terrano SUV, and it packs in a few segment firsts to uphold that more-premium claim, over the whole segment too! Under the skin, it's a mix of some of the best of what we've come to expect from cars of the Renault-Nissan alliance.

Exterior of the Car

While the Kicks in most other markets around the world is based on the same platform as the Micra, this one inherits the Duster’s tough DNA, and is based on an updated version of the M0 platform that also underpins the Renault Captur. However, like the Duster, the Kicks has a proper SUV stance with its tall upright cabin, a flat bonnet and tough body cladding, all of which give it a beefy, macho appearance. What has also helped is that a lot of the design work and final detailing has been carried out in India and, truth be told, the designers have managed to blend the edgy detailing and robust architecture quite nicely.

Design elements like the sleek projector headlamps that flank the signature V-shaped grille, the sharp cuts on the flanks, the boomerang-shaped tail-lamps, the 17-inch diamond-cut alloys and the roof rails, all work well. And so do the blacked-out pillars, which along with the two-tone orange and silver paint scheme are a unique combination. In terms of size, the Kicks is also larger than the Creta in every dimension. It is also 55mm longer and 32mm taller than the Captur.From a drive technology point of view, the Nissan Kicks has a Hill Start Assist feature, Vehicle Dynamic Control (Nissan's name for a stability program) as well as a 360-degree camera for reversing and driving into tight spots. The camera works until the vehicle crosses 10 kilometres per hour. The 'All Round View' feature is a first-in-class USP and is really useful in tough situations. As for drivability, the road to Bhuj was very straight and level for the large part so there was not much one say on the handling front. Ride quality however on the few bumpy, rather undulating asphalt was better than one would have expected, although these were factory fresh cars.

Nissan seems to have gone the distance to lift the appeal of the interiors. The chocolate brown leather cladding on the dash gets white contrast stitching, the door pads are beautifully finished, there are brushed silver accents and you even get quilting on the leather seats that lend a premium touch. What really gets your attention, however, is the new 8.0-inch floating touchscreen that not only looks good, but is smooth, slick and performs well. Also attractive are the ‘butterfly-type’ meters that flank the digital speedometer and then there’s the steering that’s nicely built too.

The dummy buttons on the steering wheel, however, are quite an eye sore and the fuel gauge looks unusually large as well. Also, on closer inspection, you can see a few hard plastics in not-so-important places and some carryover bits from its siblings have been included, ergonomic flaws intact – stuff like an elbow rest that sometimes fouls your elbow when you change gear, a narrow but deep glovebox and the seats that are placed a bit too high. In addition, there aren’t any cupholders in the central console, there’s no elbow box and, in this era of smartphones, there’s just one USB slot. The saving grace here, however, are the door pockets that are large and easily hold 1-litre bottles.

The display of the speedometer is very reliable and gives more confidence as the speed is shown in digital meter in the middle of the panel. On the other hand rpm meter and other reading as present. Cruise control is there in the car which makes it more empathic towards the rivals of this Intelligent SUV.

The upright seating position means visibility is good; the front seats are broad and accommodating and there’s more lateral support on these very comfy cross-stitched leather seats. While there’s plenty of seat adjustment, the steering only adjusts for rake, and not reach. Also missing, is a dead pedal, and space in the footwell is compromised due to the protruding centre console.

Getting into the rear is quite easy thanks to doors that open wide. There’s a reasonable amount of space in the back, and while the dark interiors make it look smaller than it is, there’s plenty of headroom and adequate kneeroom. What is also nice is that even a third passenger wouldn’t feel unwelcome here thanks to the adequate seat width and an almost flat floor. And another nice touch is the dual-operable parcel shelf that can be opened from inside to access the large 400-litre boot.

What is it like to Drive

The Nissan shares its powertrains with the Duster and Captur, so it gets a 1.5-litre diesel mated to a 6-speed manual and a 1.5-litre petrol mated to a 5-speed manual (not tested here). There are currently no automatic options.

The diesel engine is the familiar 110hp K9K motor that makes 240Nm of torque and here its character remains largely unchanged. As before, it’s a bit rough at idle but smoothens out once it starts spinning faster. There is a fair bit of turbo lag below 2,000rpm and at low speeds there is a fair amount of clatter too. Turbo lag, however, is a bit less than on the Duster or Captur and as the engine is eager to rev it rewards drivers with its meaty mid-range performance once the turbo starts singing. It’s at its strongest between 2,100-4,000rpm, so remain in its powerband and overtaking on the highways is rather effortless and performance is strong. What’s also nice is that this engine feels smooth and jerk-free at low speeds and neither the clutch nor the gears are cumbersome to use. The steering is a bit weighty at parking speeds, but it lightens up as soon as you start to move.

What’s also quite impressive is the manner in which it rides. Happen to miss a speed bump or a pothole at speeds, no problem – the Kicks simply takes it in its stride, only tossing your mildly, no big crash from the suspension; and the ride remains composed and settled at speed, too. Even at low speed it does its best to keep road shocks to a minimum. Then there’s the handling, which is neat and tidy too. The turn-in is quite sharp, especially at speed, and this means you need a steady hand on the wheel, and there is some body roll too, but straightline stability is good and it does have a fair amount of grip around corners. The body roll is well-contained and the brakes give you a fair amount of confidence too.

About this phenomenal SUV by Tata Motors

Indians everywhere have been gushing with pride at our very own superpower of a carmaker playing on the global field. For a time, some of them even foolishly assumed every new Tata Motors vehicle that followed would be a rebadged 'Jaguar' or 'Range Rover'. That misconception has since blown over, but many learnings from the British brands have made their way to Tata’s cars – and now, a decade on, we’re getting the first tangible collaboration between Tata and JLR.

Tata Harrier since it was previewed as the H5X Concept at Auto Expo 2018 in February (and perhaps even prior to that) it really doesn’t need much introduction at this point. It’s a rival to the Mahindra XUV500 and Jeep Compass that will be launched in January 2019.

Outlooks of the Car

Tata Motors promised a design very close to the H5X Concept from February 2018, and after seeing what they did with the Nexon, expectations were very high. Yes, they’ve had to give the styling a dose of reality in production form, and the result has already been polarising, to say the least; but to these eyes, this is one of the most striking SUV forms out there, price no bar. I was sceptical of the low-set Xenon projector headlamps, but in the flesh, the design really works, especially when it’s all lit-up at night. The blade-like LEDs at the top do double duty as daytime running lamps and indicators, and look very aggressive – especially leading up from the gloss-black ‘Humanity Line’ grille.

In profile, it’s just the right mix of the Nexon, the H5X Concept and the Discovery Sport – well-proportioned, with swollen wheel arches and a gently rising window line that ends in a thick blacked-out D-pillar. This provides a floating roof effect and there’s also a nice, brushed-metal panel with 'Harrier' emblazoned across it. The only let-downs here are the ordinary-looking and small 17-inch wheels; the 235/65 R17 tyres have tall sidewalls but the large wheel arches crave a bigger size. Fun fact: if you can find the Discovery Sport’s 18-inch wheels aftermarket, they’re a direct bolt-on fit.

The headlamps loaded with high quality Projector Lamps with elegant look. It is the proof of intricating the small parts to become dignified perosnality.

Interior of the Car

Interior fit and finish has been something Tata has struggled to get right with all its cars, even the most recent ones; so it’s a wonderful surprise to see how much things have improved here. You have to look quite hard to find an ill-fit set of panels or a rough edge. Materials in this car are on a new level for the company, too, with things like a soft, faux-leather dash top, a rich-looking slab of imitation wood on the dash and thick metallic door handles. I also like that the soft leatherette upholstery is finished in chocolate brown, rather than black or the passé beige. However, though the front seats are big and supportive, the lumbar support they serve-up seems excessive.

Although the Harrier’s cabin feels plusher and more premium than the Compass, it’s not quite as well put together as the Jeep. The dashboard design is simple, minimalistic and elegant, and as I said earlier, the mock wood actually looks convincing. The 8.8-inch touchscreen, coupled with the central AC vents, looks like a cohesive freestanding unit, while the HVAC controls sit in a neat little recess bound by a brushed-silver strip. Even the door grab handles are finished in perforated leather, look rich and feel solid to grasp. The only bit of design I’m not a fan of is the steering wheel, which just doesn’t have a premium look, feel or finish to match the rest of the cabin.

For all this quality, though, a few ergonomic flaws have crept in. There are two USB ports in this car – one at the front and one at the rear – but we wouldn’t blame you if you never found them; they’re hidden from view and tricky to access. There’s no lock-unlock button anywhere, and while the huge wing mirrors might look good on the outside, they’re set very high and create a massive blind spot around the A-pillars.

When you get to the back seat (not too much of a climb up, incidentally) you realise the Tata Harrier would also make for an excellent chauffeur-driven car. Rear-seat space is positively huge, which you can thank the long, 2,741mm wheelbase for. It’s not just legroom though; the seat is wide and flat so it can comfortably take three people, the windows are big and you sit high up so there’s a great view outside, and if you’re wondering where the rear AC vents are, they’re in the B-pillars. The seat itself is also very comfortable; but a huge omission that’s bound to irk potential buyers is a sunroof – the market simply demands one in cars of this segment. Despite its size, there’s no third row of seats, however, there will be a seven-seat version of this car in 2020.

Exhilarating Features

On the equipment front, there’s a lot of what you’d expect from such an SUV. Keyless entry and go, auto climate control, a rear-view camera and rear parking sensors, cruise control, six airbags, auto headlamps and wipers, and cornering lamps make up the basics. Then there are features that’ll wow you, like the 9-speaker JBL sound system with a subwoofer, and puddle lamps that project the car’s silhouette on the road (yup, just like a Range Rover).

A key piece of kit is the dual-screen system comprising the 8.8-inch touchscreen and the 7.0-inch screen in the instrument cluster. The big screen uses the latest version of Tata’s interface, which is much smoother than the one in, say, the Nexon; but it's still shy of the best in the market, like Hyundai and Ford. It gets the features you expect, including Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and the best part is you can still access the car’s functions while using either smartphone interface. More interesting is the 7.0-inch screen that takes up two-thirds of the instrument binnacle; it includes a digital tachometer and a very detailed fuel computer. It also has displays for the various driving modes and even relays media and navigation info from the main screen so that you don’t have to take your eyes too far off the road. For all this, though, there are some pieces of equipment missing that rivals do offer. The front seatbelts aren’t height-adjustable, the driver’s seat isn’t powered, and of course, there’s the lack of the all-important sunroof.

The smartmeter with lots of attractive features in it. Large digital display which tells about each and every feature which is activated which is a very sedate look feels more confident when eye catches the sight towards the console.

New Drive Modes in the segment with manual transmission is the various types of modes like Electronic Stability Program, Hill Assist and Tractional Control. These features makes this car a complete pack of adventures loaded with different control with manual transmission. This is going to be a challenge for the opponents.

Under the Hood

The Kryotec 2.0L Turbocharged Engine loaded with 4 cylinders. The displacement of the engine is 1956cc with power f 138bhp@3750 rpm. Torque produced by the Kryotec engine is 350Nm@1750 rpm. Comes with manual transmission with 6 speed gears. The drive train is Forward wheel drive.

Safety

In this present spectrum the security is most prominent factor needed. Tata Harrier consist of 6 Airbags as standard with ABS, ESC, Hill descent control to make one of the safest SUV's around.

What's like to Drive

What potential buyers will also miss are an automatic gearbox and AWD – and for now, the Harrier gets neither. It’s front-wheel drive only and with a sole diesel-manual powertrain option. It’s the same Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre Multijet II motor (Or Kryotec in Tata parlance) you’ll find in the Jeep Compass, which, incidentally, is one of this car’s main rivals. In the Harrier, however, its power output is a lower 140hp, but it has the same 350Nm of torque.

To drive, it’s actually rather good. The clutch and gearshift action are impressively light for this sort of big diesel car (certainly more so than the Jeep) and it’s quite responsive off the line. Like other Tatas, it gets three drive modes – Eco, City and Sport. The first two don’t feel all too different, and that’s good if you want to save fuel; it doesn’t make driving feel like a chore. However, when you want to drive briskly, even City mode just won’t cut it and you’ll want to shift up into 'Sport'. Even in this mode, however, you’ll wish there was a slightly stronger top-end for overtaking. The mid-range is good enough for most needs, but only out on the highway could it feel lacking, especially while overtaking. At a more relaxed pace, however, this SUV is very comfortable holding a three-digit cruise.

And that comfort will extend to the Harrier’s occupants too, as it feels absolutely rock-solid at speed. The Discovery Sport’s independent front suspension has been retained, but at the rear is a new torsion-beam set-up – Tata’s own. They’ve done a stellar job of it, too, because this SUV is just superb at hammering out bad roads. It’s so tough and unfazed by even the largest and sharpest of potholes, you feel more than comfortable dropping two wheels off the tarmac on a narrow road; even at high speed, you’ll barely feel it in the cabin. It can feel a little lumpy at lower speeds, but that soon vanishes as you move along.

At low speeds, you’ll also find the steering a bit heavy; it’s an old-school hydraulic unit (like the one in the Hexa) and not a more modern, more expensive electric power steering (EPAS) unit. But you’ll enjoy the steering at higher speeds for the greater sense of control it’ll give you. No, that doesn’t make this car a sharp handler, and sporty, it certainly is not (there’s a fair amount of body roll) but what it is instead is tough, planted and confidence-inspiring.

Though it’s only front-wheel drive, they’ve made it a point to include a Terrain Response System on top-end cars, which adjusts the electronics for low-traction situations – namely wet and rough-road driving. In fact, there are a huge number of electronic driver aids, including off-road-specific ABS, hill-start assist, hill-descent control, traction control, stability control, corner-stability control, brake pre-fill, brake wipe, rollover mitigation and even hydraulic-brake-fade compensation.
