Out of the rubble we see a Chevy Silverado emerge practically unharmed, after which the driver meets up with three other guys with Silverados who've also somehow survived the apocalypse. Unfortunately, the group's friend Dave wasn't so lucky. The reason: Dave drove a Ford instead of a Silverado. Ouch!

After a groggy homeowner finds a group of aliens inspecting the Chevy Volt in his garage, he tries to explain to them, unsuccessfully, how the Volt works. While he might be addressing the aliens in this commercial, in light of the confusion around the Volt's supposed "Electric"-car status, we've got a feeling that they're directing the explanation towards potential consumers as well.

The Acura NSX 2012 Super Bowl commercial is a Jerry Seinfeld fan's dream. You don't see the futuristic NSX Concept car all that much, but you do get a minute and a half of Seinfeld's humor.
For a second year in a row, car companies have decided to invest heavily in Superbowl commercials. With the auto industry recovery in full swing, auto makers such as Toyota, Hyundai, Kia, GM, and Volkswagen are all looking to make a splash with viewers. And at $3.5 million for a 30-second spot, it's a good bet that they'll do everything they can to get their money's worth.

This year's game, which is scheduled for Sunday, February 5, 2012 and is being held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, will be televised nationally by NBC. It is also the first Superbowl to be streamed online, via NBC.com and Verizon Wireless's NFL Mobile app.

Continuing the recent trend of releasing their Superbowl commercials beforehand, most of the car manufacturers ads are already available to check out. Here are some of the best we've seen so far:
