Chevy's 2012 Super Bowl ad promoting the Silverado plays on the 'End of the World' predictions of the Mayan calendar, opening up on a devestated city in ruins. Out of the rubble we see a Chevy Silverado emerge practically unharmed, after which the driver meets up with three other guys with Silverados who've also somehow survived the apocalypse. Unfortunately, the group's friend Dave wasn't so lucky. The reason: Dave drove a Ford instead of a Silverado. Ouch!

For a second year in a row, car companies have decided to invest heavily in Superbowl commercials. With the auto industry recovery in full swing, auto makers such as Toyota, Hyundai, Kia, GM, and Volkswagen are all looking to make a splash with viewers. And at $3.5 million for a 30-second spot, it's a good bet that they'll do everything they can to get their money's worth.

This year's game, which is scheduled for Sunday, February 5, 2012 and is being held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, will be televised nationally by NBC. It is also the first Superbowl to be streamed online, via NBC.com and Verizon Wireless's NFL Mobile app.
