If you bought a Ducati bike the dealer would present you with two keys, with the red coloured one used for the control system and another, black coloured key could be used to ignite and drive the motorcycle.

While Ducati motorcycles are wonder to marvel at with their great speed and fascinating sound, one fails to imagine how this deadly machine is reduced to juts a pre-programmed robot without the red key. With the red key you can have control to the Electronic Control Unit of the Ducati that is the nucleus of the motorcycle.

Although you can ride a Ducati with just using the black you would not be able to start the bike after make any modifications or changes in the settings. The red key is unique for every Ducati bike and could not be copied or duplicated at any other place or at a local locksmith. If at all you would damage the red key or lose then the only place where you could get a replacement for it would be the Ducati manufacturing plant. Even at the plant the only way to replace the red key would be to change the Electronic Control Unit of your bike. Now that could be quite a costly situation. Why? Because a new Electronic Control Unit would also need a new ignitions system and a gauge cluster to help it function smoothly. For this you may have to shell out quite a lot of money. This is practically one of the main reasons why most owners feared losing the red key. The red key was a unique control key of the bike and came with an in built anti-theft system as well. This anti-theft system would help you switch off the Electronic Control Unit of the bike through remote operation when stolen therefore disabling the thief from riding far away. It had a unique set of codes that would match with its corresponding Electronic Control Unit. However due to its size and nature the little red key was a difficult key to manage.

If you are a Ducati owner you definitely did not want to risk the chance of losing your red key by carrying it with you all the time. Taking all this into consideration Ducati replaced the red key with the Electronic Control cards in 2007. Although there was not much difference at all in the features and characteristics of either the red key or the electronic control card, Ducati owners still felt that the card was much more manageable due to its comfortable size and shape like that of a credit card which enabled them to carry it in their pockets along with their authorized driving license.

The main concern however remained about replacement in the event of a loss or damage. The cards came loaded with a chip that had all the requisite codes and programs required to control the Ducati. Owners still hoped that there would be some way in which the replacement issue could be sorted out. To their pleasant surprise owners of Ducati motorcycles finally had their prayers answered. A company named ECU Meistro came to their rescue and helped owners of the Ducati produce red keys or electronic control cards in the event of a loss or damage. However due to the uniqueness of the great engineering with which Ducati motorcycles were built with they could only produce one key or one card at a time for a particular Ducati motorcycle, which means producing or owning a duplicate set of red keys or electronic cards is not possible.

If you get your key or card replaced the older one irrespective of its location and age will cease to function. ECU Meistro managed to do this by using a computerized program to extract the set of codes from the Electronic Control Unit of the Ducati which would be required to produce another set of keys. The same codes would be then programmed into a new set of keys or printed onto a new card chip and its details would simultaneously be fed into the Electronic Control Unit which in turn would deactivate the older version.

All this could be done at a price that was nearly the quarter of what would actually be spent at the plant earlier. The Ducati motorcycle which was always incomplete without its red key or electronic control cad is totally complete now and is attracting more and more buyers which were otherwise turned away because of this unique but dangerous feature.

Los Angeles-based tuner Misha Designs has presented its new aftermarket pakage for Type 955 (2002-2006) and Type 957 (2007-2010) Porsche Cayenne models. The body kit features a new front bumper, hood, side skirts and front fender flares. Seen from the back, the ride showcases a different roof spoiler, updated rear bumper with diffuser, along with rear fender flares.

The designers haven’t forgot to add the LED daytime running lights and a set of 22-inch Black DPE CSR05 alloy wheels with a five-spoke concave configuration, wrapped in performance tires.

The tuner mentioned that the new body kit only requires minimum bodywork hence it will replace the stock bumpers and side skirts using factory mounting points.

Abt Sportsline has presented its plans to introduce a tuning program for the seventh generation of the Golf.
We’ve previously seen a couple of pictures with the tuner’s work on the sixth-gen Golf with the GTI Last Edition and from the looks of it, some of the styling features have been assimilated by the new project.

At the heart of this tuning package lies a modified 1.4 TSI engine with an increased output from 122 HP – 90 kW to 160 HP – 118 kW. The 2.0 TDI can also be improved to churn out an extra 20 HP from 150 HP – 110 kW to 170 HP – 125 kW.

On the syling part, the vehicle will be presented in Geneva wearing a new set of 19-inch alloys wrapped in 225/35 R19 tires. Seen from the back, the vehicle showcases a quad exhaust setup, along with a custom sports suspension and several styling changes such as a rear diffuser, side skirts and splitter.

Similar to the new Fiat 500 GQ edition announced just yesterday, Citroen has teamed up with the Italian-language men’s edition of Vogue magazine in creating this special edition convertible dubbed the DS3 Cabrio L’Uomo Vogue. Unveiled at the Milan Fashion Week earlier this month, the one-of-a-kind, stylish reinterpretation of the DS3 is painted in Stardust matte grey and comes with a canvas roof covered in subtle motifs reinterpreting the monogram canvas.

Other special features include a laser-engraved special DS logo on the mirror housings, and seats upholstered in BlackBrown watchstrap Club leather that combines with pearl-effect stitching on the dash and front panels. The one-off model is set to go under the hammer at a silent auction to raise money for the “Women Create Life” project, a World Health Organization initiative that funds activities to improve women and children’s health. The auction will take place at the WHO Headquarters in Geneva on 6 March.
