The Stew and Head Lice

The Brunswick Stew Festival held in Richmond last weekend turned out to be a fun event for us.

Shockoe Bottom (pronounced as "Shock-Ko") - what a weird name.

Although there weren't as many kids' entertainment like petting zoo, crafting and paintings as the year before, the girls nevertheless were having a good time.

Face painting for $3 each.

Didn't get a chance to take pictures of my favourite brunswick stew vendor but here is how the stew look like.

What's Brunswick Stew? Some of you may ask.

Well, it's a traditional dish from Southeastern USA and usually a tomato-based stew containing various types of lima beans/butter beans, corn, okra, and other vegetables, and one or more types of meat.

The stew essentially resembles a very thick vegetable soup with meat. The key distinguishing factor between soup and Brunswick stew is the consistency.

Most of the brunswick stews are being cooked in a large pot over low heat for a long period of time. Like overnight, to get the consistency and thickness, otherwise it would be vegetable soup with meat added.

We bought a couple of quarts - one was already gone and the other one is in freezer, waiting for a snowy day.

Annabel is still having head lice problem.

The other day, she was complaining itchy head again. Urrrrgh!

Immediately, we did a head lice killing treatment on her last weekend and to my upmost surprise, those freaggin dead lice we caught were enormously HUGE and FAT.

Gave me goosebumps by just looking at these dead creepy crawlers. Urrrgh!

And this morning, she complained her head was itching again. Double freaggin Urrrgggh!

So, I went online and try to find some natural remedies on how to kill those crawlers.

Found a website that has some awesome readers contributing tips and home remedies.

One woman said she used Vaseline. Coat the entire hair with vaseline. Comb it thoroughly with a lice comb to get rid of all the lice and nits. Then leave it on for overnight. Rinse and shampoo in the morning.

Uh ummmph, I'm not quite sure about vaseline. Kinda sound greasy and sticky to me.

Another reader said she used hot hair iron. Flat iron hair and pay close attention to hair behind ears and behind the neck.

Well, it does make sense that the heat from the hot iron would definitely kill those bugs but I don't have a hot iron. Would hair curler works the same? I wonder.

The last recommendations was from a lady who used baby oil. Same as vaseline - coat the hair with baby oil, comb thoroughly and cover hair with shower cap. Leave it overnight, rinse and shampoo in the morning.

BINGO.

Baby oil = checked.

Lice comb = checked.

Shower cap = checked.

Mission accomplished.

And this young lady is going to bed with a shower cap on tonight.

We will see how it goes in the morning.

It's Halloween night.

And every year, we never failed to have our pumpkins carved.

It's a fun activity for the kids and it didn't take too long but half an hour to carve two pumpkins today.

Here are the step-to-step how to carve a pumpkin.

First, you need to pick a nice round and big pumpkin.

The bigger the better.

Then, go online and look for the template/design that you like.

Emma picked a kitty cat.

Secure the template to the pumpkin using thumbtacks.

Then use this special pumpkin carving tools to poke and make an outline of the template onto the pumpkin.

This is how it looks like when you remove the template.

Next, use a sharp knife to cut the top off.

Scope all the ooey gooey guts and seeds out with a spoon.

If you like to eat "kuaci", save the pumpkin seeds and roast them in the oven.

They make good and healthy snacks.

Remember to clean it really well and pat dry.

This is the carving tool, just like a mini saw.

Alot of sawing done here.

Tada.... Our carved pumpkins for this year.

The Public School here is so much different from the school that I used to go in Malaysia twenty some years ago.

I mean, the teachers here are so interactive, not only with the students, but the parents as well.

The other day, we received an email from Emma's teacher, Mrs M saying she was having so much fun with the kids on P.J. Day.

Together with the email, there was a class picture with kids in their PJ.

Apparently, all kids in Pre-K were allowed to wear their jammies to school on that day.

Well, kids here go to school with their daily outfit, unlike most countries where students are required to wear uniforms to school everyday.

I remember how much I hated wearing my school uniform when I was in primary school. They were the most uncomfortable navy blue pinafore over white shirt that I dreaded myself to put them on every single morning.

With 90 degrees most of the time outside, you tell me... how comfortable this kinda uniform can be?

Little Emma is getting more playful nowadays.

I was folding laundry on Sunday evening, and here she came sitting on top of the empty laundry basket, being cheeky.

This laundry basket has been with us for almost 10 years. Still in good shape.

And to my surprise, she had Tiger (our black cat) caged in and she was sitting there laughing out loud. Poor cat.

Note to self: To keep Tiger indoor next week. We lost Napolean (our 1st black cat) 8 years ago during this time of the year - Halloween. Uh-huh!!!

That's almost 70.00 Ringgit.

As long as MrT and the girls are happy, that's all it matters!

I'm not really a big fan of steaks. I'll take seafood (shrimps, scallops, crabs, lobsters) anytime over steaks.

While MrT and the girls had filet for dinner, I had......

Tada.... Stinky beans with Calamari.

I think I freaggin over-cooked the calamari - it was a little chewy but still taste good.

Oh yeah, it stunk the whole house that night. Haha!

And Challote, thanks for your comment. I know I'm no longer a spring chicken. I'm a woman, with two kids, and is approaching a big 40.

But you have to give me a little credit how well I keep myself to stay healthy and fit after being gone through two pregnancies.

I was pretty upset when I read those comments the other day.

Perhaps I need to evaluate how much make-up to wear, so not to look older and like a CLOWN!

Well, it's no surprise I'm not in a good mood again. Hope things will get better next week.

Smith Mountain Lake

Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia.

Will be here for three days. For work - Quarterly Team Meeting to be exact.

The journey took us 3 1/2 hours from Richmond, VA. The ride was pleasant - no major breakdown or bad traffic and thanked God, I wasn't driving.

Upon arrival, we hurried with our check-in and off we went to an hour meeting with the whole team - about 25 of us altogether.

Then we had two hours to chill out and freshen up before our 6:30 pm BBQ dinner at gazebo by the so-called beach.

It was freezing cold outside, so the hotel caterer had a bon-fire for us to warm up.

This is going to be a post with lots of pictures and captions.

Things that we have been doing over the past few weeks and some random pictures that I find they are too funny and would like to share in here.

My eldest sister, Amy who resides in Hong Kong, recently sent me some mooncakes and a couple packets of instant noodles.

It says on the packing "Abalone Noodles"...

So, I got creative that day and added some fresh prawns (shrimps for American) since I couldn't afford abalone. :-(

The next day, Amy called and asked how do I like the noodles. I found out later that the noodles supposed to be cooked and eaten as dry version. Duh!

As the weather gets colder, it has been a struggle for us every morning to make sure the girls are dressed properly to school.

They both would pick and choose what to wear every morning and could spent up to 20 minutes to finally make up their mind.

It has gotten to the point that I had to close my eyes sometime and just let the girls pick whatever that they wanted to wear.

Now you tell me if this girl would be warm enough in this outfit with 60F outside?

What has been going on her mind with that blue socks with pink t-shirt and red skirt?

No, she didn't get that from me, for certain, as I can proudly say that I'm pretty good with color combinations when comes to my attire.

As been told in my earlier post, Annabel's hair was infested with hair lice.

Looking at the nits gave me some goose bumps.

So, on the day we discovered that, I drove to CVS Pharmacy to look for some hair lice treatment for her.

This hair lice killing shampoo costed a whooping $19.99.

And the shampoo was pretty effective, I would say. See the dead lice?

We are still debating if we should have her hair cut short. Urrghhh!

How often do you clean out your refrigerator?

My mom used to clean hers every three months or so. She would cut the power off, took ALL the stuff out of the refrigerator, wiped it down with warm water and tossed whatever that she would think no good anymore.

The whole process would literally took her a few hours to complete.

I, on the other hand, clean my refrigerator ONCE A YEAR!

Yup, I'm that lazy. Ha!

How do you like my refrigerator now? That Sponge Bob Square Pants sippy cup was Emma's chocolate milk.

Three full 13-gallons bags of expired condiments, salad dressings, sauces, marinates and stuff that I won't go into details - ALL in the trash.

With the cleaning mode on, we headed to the master bedroom and cleaned out the side table.

I will be going away for a 3-days meeting in Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia - leaving on Monday next week. No kids for 3-days. YEEHAW!

There will be pictures of people that I work with in my next post (including picture of my boss who resembles Jennifer Garner, someone says and I agree!) but what I'm really excited about is the "Halloween Theme Night Dinner" on Tuesday.

I have been lazy updating my blog again.

It could be due to the winter blues (if there is any) or I was just plain lazy.

There have been alot going on with me lately which I won't go into details for now.

Despite all the mess around, we found out a few days ago that Annabel's hair was infested with kutu (hair lice). Oh great! I certainly do not want to deal with that, at least not now.

She has since had a treatment to kill all the lice but what really throwing me off is the nit picking and I have been religiously doing that for the past couple of days.

So, with that being said, there will be alot of checking and making sure that she is lice-free for the next couple of weeks.

Thank God, Emma is safe from those nasty bugs but we still have to keep an eye on her hair daily.

It's almost 8:00 pm and I haven't had my dinner yet, so I'm off to cook myself some instant noodles. Haven't had any appetite to eat lately, not even a plate of nasi lemak or char keow teow would do any good, not now definitely. And I won't even want to tell you how much weight I have lost lately. It's freaggin scary is all I want to say.

Sorry for the pissy mood and I'd better stop right here before I started to curse!

The Nursery Rhyme Night

The girls' school had a Nursery Rhyme Night from 6:30 to 7:30 pm last night.

The thihg I like about public school system here is the Principal and teachers, all chip in and organize all kind of after school activities that involves parents and children to take part in these activities which they believe set to aid in a child's development.

Like last night, we were invited to a Nursery Rhyme Night and many parents turned up to support the program.

Since the Nursery Rhyme Night starts at 6:30 pm, we had to rush out to have our dinner immediately I got home from work.

The easiest and simpliest dinner we could get in a short period of time is of course fast food.

So, we make a quick stop at KFC...

bought 2 laptop boxes for the girls...

and I have a side of macaroni and cheese. Pretty good, I would say. Cheesy and Saucy!

The laptop box came with a leg, two sides, a pack of graham teddy bear and a drinks.

We barely had enough time to eat comfortably, probably spent 10 minutes or so to chow our food and had to hurry out of the restaurant, into the car and off to the school.

We made it to the school just right on time.

The Humpty Dumpty team. The lady to the right is Emma's teacher, Mrs M. Love their custome so much.

Hickory Dickory Dock - the two ladies are kindergarten teachers. Ooooh, all dressed up and looking cute.

And there were "Mary Had A Little Lamb" and "Itsy Bitsy Spider" - no pictures though.

Then, we participated in some kind of activites.

Helping Emma to do some craft.

I guess you could figure out what we were doing.

We didn't stay long - probably about 45 minutes or so and hurried home to watch our favourite TV show - Survivor.

Who's a big fan of Survivor here?

I love watching the show. All because of him.

A day at the farm...

So, we went to the Chesterfield Berry Farm today and we had a blast.

It was a Girls' Day Out for us (yours truly, MsA&E and Katelyn. The weather was awesome - just the right temperature in the high 70s.

We left the house at 11:45 am....

... and the ride took us 30 minutes, all the way out to the country. What a beautiful day!

It was packed with people.

The first thing the girls did was to take pictures with the farm animals.

Not real animals though but still cute.

Then the girls went for a duck race. The big guy on the right was cheating. Shame on him. Boo boo!

Pony or Horse Ride for $5.

Moon Bounce...

and Paintball were at no charge.

By now, I was getting tired.

Thanked Buddha, the girls wanted a train ride.

So, we hopped on the John Deer train....

and off we went for a breezy ride.

The 5 minutes train ride didn't do any good for me. I was still tired and hungry. So hungry I could eat a damn horse.

I was ready to pass out, so I had the girls settled down and we had some lunch - BBQ Sandwich and Hotdogs for the girls.

Lunch was good. Felt alot better and I was ready to go home and take a nap. I know that ain't gonna happen.

So we walked around for a while, went for a hay ride, picked our pumpkins, bla bla bla bla...

The next thing I know, they wanted to have their face painted.

And that the highlight of my day.

Why..???

Coz I had my face painted too....

Who in here religiously put on your face mask once a week, please raise your hand..?

I have to admit I'm very concerned about my physical and facial appearance as I'm approaching the BIG 4-0, hence proper skin care is vital for me.

Proper skin care means cleansing it properly, religiously, everynight. Keep your skin moisturized by applying lotion or cream. Then once a week, you should include the use of Facial Mask and Exfoliation.

Thursday night, my eldest took a picture of me while I was trying to complete my weekly skin care regime with a facial mask.

And here is picture of me the next morning, with a fresh cleaned face and make-up...

all ready to go to work.

Halloween is just a month away.

The girls are getting excited and wanted to get some Halloween decorations for the house.

Annabel was busy making her own homemade Halloween cards for her friends at school and here is one of them.

The other day, I was sitting in the den eating jello while doing some work on my laptop. Surfing actually.

My youngest asked to have a couple spoonfuls of the jello and minutes later, she said it was good.

Hmmmmm Mommy, it waaaaaaas good.

Yeah I know and I love it.

She then looked at me with her eyes wild open, as big as frog's eyes, both hands on her waist and said...

"like"... not "love". Love is when you love somebody.

I was like... Huh? Are you correcting my English?

I had the biggest shock of my life. My Oh-So-Smart-4-years-old daughter was CORRECTING my English.

I still couldn't believe it and it AIN'T FUNNY AT ALL...!!! ohshuddup!

Summer is officially over and we are welcoming fall season. My favourite season of the year.

We have a fairly chilly weather here in Richmond at night. Temperature goes down to low 60s at certain nights and up to 80s during the day.

Perfect weather for me. Love it. Uuuhh no... Like it. Opppssss!

While cleaning out the closet last weekend, I found this sweat pants and jacket that I bought last year during the store clearance. It is still brand new with tags on and everything.

So, I put it on and off I went to do my grocery shopping.

Now, I have a new nickname - Sporty Spice. Oh, whatever!

Dinner was good tonight.

We had Chicken Supreme over steamed rice. Simple and easy.

Sauteed some sliced mushroom.

Mixed cream of mushroom soup, milk, water and white wine and bring the mixture to boil.

Pour the soup mixture onto the browned chicken fillet.

Into the oven.

At 400F for 45 minutes.

And voila. You have the easiest and super-delicious dinner ready in an hour. OH so good.

Asian Store Revisit

One of my favourite Chinese festivals, beside Chinese New Year, is Mid-Autumn Festival also known as Lantern Festival or Mooncake Festival.

It is held on the 15th day of the eighth month in the Chinese calendar, which is usually around mid/late September or early October in the Gregorian calendar.

I remember when I was a kid growing up in my mom's house in Perak, Malaysia - every year I would patiently wait for this day to come particularly for the lunar prayer at night, moon watching, lantern playing and chit chatting with friends and family.

My mom would prepare all the food offerings for the prayer and we (me, my sisters and brother) would be so busy playing with brightly lit lanterns and eating pomeloes.

Well, I haven't had a chance to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival with my family in Malaysia ever since I moved to USA. Nine years, to be exact.

And I'm craving for mooncakes.

So, a trip to the Asian store yesterday, I came home smiling with a piece of Five Kernel mooncake in my hand.

Mooncakes are round or square Chinese pastries measuring about 4-5 inches diameter and 2 inches thick.

A thick filling usually made from lotus seed paste is surrounded by a relatively thin crust and may contain yolks from salted duck eggs.

Mooncakes are rich, heavy, and dense compared with most Western cakes and pastries. They are usually eaten in small wedges accompanied by Chinese tea.

Five Kernel mooncake - A filling consisting of 5 types of nuts and seeds, coarsely chopped and held together with maltose syrup. Commonly used nuts and seeds include: walnuts, pumpkin seeds, watermelon seeds, peanuts, sesame, or almonds. In addition, the mixture will usually contain candied winter melon, jinhua ham, or pieces of rock sugar as additional flavouring.

There is only one word to describe this mooncake. DELICIOUS!

I'm going back to the store to get my Lotus Seed mooncake next week.

Back to the Asian Store Revisit.

Almost every trip I made to this store, I would ended up buying a pound or two of their fresh shrimp.

They are a little cheaper than the usual grocery stores here but I just love the head-on shrimp which you can't get anywhere else in Richmond except the Asian store.

$4.99 a pound for pretty large shrimps.

About the size of my palm.

See the "yellow stuff" on the shrimp's head. They are the best part of the entire shrimp.

A pound and a half shrimps ready to be cleaned.

How to clean and make your shrimps look all pretty...???

I'm glad I learned this from my mom many years ago. The correct way to clean and cut off the unneccessary part.

First, cut the tip of the head off. You don't want to chew on those eyes and rostrum, right?

Then, cut part of the tail off. Don't ask me why. Ask my mom!

Finally, cut all the swimming and walking legs.

And VOILA!

You have all cleaned and pretty looking shrimps - according to my mom.

And this was what I had for dinner last night.

Sambal Udang & Sotong with Petai (Shrimps & Squid with Stinky Bean in Chilli Paste)

Oh, I bought some Squid too.

And I will tell how my mom taught me the correct way to clean Squidward in my next post as I'm a little tired tonight.

Had a long day cleaning the whole house. From top floor down to the den. But I'm glad it's all DONE and it feels good living in a clean house.

Shoes... Shoes... and more Shoes.

I personally think this entry is written specially for all the ladies out there.

But if you don't mind looking at pictures of my shoes collections, then enjoy at your own leisure.

I don't remember per say how many pairs of shoes or heels I have in my closet, but when I decided to take pictures of them and blog about it... Holy Schwenky... I have LOTS of them. Mostly in black or brown colors.

Some of the heels, I wear them all the time. Like everyday. To work.

A few pairs of them that I bought from the bargain store aren't that comfortable. So they were just sitting in my closet - collecting what we called D.U.S.T.!

And trip to the store last weekend, I came home with another two pairs of heels.

The first two pictures are the heels that I newly bought. Love them to pieces.

Some of you might not too fancy about the white thread sow around the heels, but it does look good. Something different, you know.

I'm so much into brown heels lately. Give me a brown heels, and I'll go dancing with you.

Now, here are the rest of my shoes/heels collections:-

This 1 1/2-inch heels is fairly new too - wish it was an inch or two higher.

Bought this pair early in the Spring. Really cute with mini-skirt.

Had it for a while and haven't had a chance to wear it yet. I guess denim heels is kinda hard to go with any of my outfits. I was in love-at-first-sight with this heels.

Wore it a couple of times and didn't find it that comfortable. Heels #1 collecting dust.

I've completely forgotten about this pair of heels till I took them out from the closet.

Heels #2 collecting dust. This is one heavy pair of heels. Weigh at least a pound. No kidding!

Aha... This is one of my favourite. Wore it almost everyday during the summer.

This one is fairly new too. Replacing the above and been wearing it alot lately.

Bought this "go-clubbing" heels 3 months ago and it's still brand new sitting in my closet.

Heels #3 collecting dust.

This is probably one of my oldest pair of heels. See how worn out it is but they are the most comfortable heels in my collections.

The only metalic silver open toes heels I have. Very cute with short jeans or mini skirt. Or a summer dress.

My favourite pair of winter boots. Bought it really cheap. I think it was 8 bucks or so.

Very similar to the above. Still brand new. Bought it since it was on clearance for 8 bucks too.

Love it. Love it. Absolutely love it. Can't wait to put them on this winter.

So, the girls went back to school this week. It was MsEmma's first day at school attending Pre-K.

I cannot say enough "thank-you" to Buddha how glad I'm ever since school started. The girls would be at the bus-stop at 8:45 am and stay in school till 3:45 pm. Everyday except Saturday and Sunday.

That's 7 hours of free daycare for MsEmma - 100 dollar extra a week to spend.... on shopping!

First day to school...

With her new dress that I bought from Marshall for 3 bucks...

All pretty and ready to go...

That little teddy bear pinned to her dress is her ID with her full name, school bus number, classroom number as well as her teacher's name.

All Pre-K students have the same school bag provided by the school for easy identification. Ain't that cool..??

There she goes, off to school like a big girl.

Yup, that's one hot bus driver we have.

She did very well at school on her first day. No fuss and no crying at all.

Now I have to wait for another 12-13 years before the girls are out of the house. To college. And I will be one "Free & Easy" happy woman.

Labor Day weekend. 3-days at home. Bored to death.

Friday night, took the girls out to the foodcourt at the mall for some chinese dinner.

Stir-fried Loh Mein & Chinese Fried Rice with Bourbon Chicken was good - the girls finished their dinners in no time.

Whenever we go to the mall, there are 3 stores that I definitely would make a stop and walk around looking for bargains.

1. Bath & Body Works.

Absolutely love this Cherry Blossom Body Lotion.

Want to know how I smell everyday..??? This Cherry Blossom Body Lotion rocks the house.

US$10.50 for 8 oz fl bottle.

Oh, if you are a big fan of body lotion, Bath & Body Works has a new scent called P.S. I Love You.

It's very new to the market and on the shelves now. This is my second choice. Same price - US$10.50 for 8 oz fl bottle.

And I bought a bunch of 2 oz trial bottle for US$1 each.

Others that I like are Rainkissed Leaves, Wild Honeysuckle, Cucumber Melon, Sweet Peas. Oh, the Japanese Cherry Blossom is not bad too.

2. Claire's.

For the girls - not really.

I'm not much into Victoria Secret. They do have nice and sexy lingeries but they are just way too expensive for me.

That comes with a matching panty. Ha!

Now I can't wait to go back and do another round of lingeries shopping.

Merdeka Party

The Merdeka Party went well. All invited guests, including babies, came on time.

We began our feast as soon as the guests arrived and basically stayed at the dining room table the entire time - eating and chit-chatting.

The Chicken Curry turned out good.

Sambal Udang with Petai was a big hit.

Unfortunately, my Mee Curry was kind of disappointed. It was a little bit less tasty than those Mee Curry sold in KL.

I guess I added too much water than the recipe was called for. Oh well!

Loh Hon Herbal Tea with Longan & Red Dates from my guest.

A healthy bowl of cut watermelon from the same guest.

Yam Cake (Woo Tau Koh) from another guest. This was really good.

Fearsome Fours

I always thought Terrible Twos and Thrashing Threes are awful till I recently discovered Fearsome Fours.

Don't get me wrong. I love both my girls to death but sometime, they can really drive me up the wall.

And this morning, I'd have enough and let it all out.

I was wondering the other day why my bathroom tissue went through so fast. I mean, I have to buy a 12-pack every week on my grocery run.

This young lady was spending her quiet time playing in the bathroom with my bathroom tissue, the contact lenses' solution, hand soap, mouthwash, toothpaste, towels, bandages - basically anything that she can find in the bathroom.

When I sat her down, questioned and explained to her, she said she was sorry, gave me a smile and ran away.

I'm so not looking forward to a full year of Fearsome Fours. What would be Fives?

Fabulous Fives..? I seriously hope so.

Hair Makeover

Couldn't get myself comfortable in bed.

Been tossing and turning all night.

Finally an hour later, decided to turn on my laptop and surfed a bit.

Found nothing interesting to read. None of my frequently visit blogger had their blogs updated today. Urrgh!

Logged on to my bank account to check the balance. Hmmmm, moolah gone down the drain fast this month paying bills, shopping, fast food, take-outs and unneccesary charges. (Note to self: spend less on shopping next pay period).

After a couple minutes of surfing, found an interesting website - The Hair Makeover, so I decided to have a little fun.

Yeah, I'm in the hair thingy again. It's so weird that I think I'm going through some kind of phrase with my appearance.

I would go crazy at some point, over my clothing; what to wear to work, the top should go with this pants, not that; summer dresses for Monday, Wednesday and Friday and so for.

Then come next week, I would change my path and pay more attention on shoes. Heels for today, flats for tomorrow or perhaps tennis shoes day after (I wish!).

And now, here I'm in my hair thingy.

For the past few days, I have been thinking of changing my hairstyle and the color too.

I would probably keep my long hair, maybe get a perm or change the color to light brown/dark blonde.

So, here are some pictures of the makeover. Tell me which one do you like the most.

No. 1 - this is ok but bet it's hard to maintain. Would probably spend an hour styling.

No. 2 - not bad but would cost a bomb to get this curly look. I'm talking probably $150-$200, US Dollar.

No. 3 - Hmmm, just ok. Not sure about this one though.

No. 4 - love this. Look so natural on me.

No. 5 - Just ok, but don't think I will go for this one.

No. 6 - One of my favourite but way too blonde. I probably can ask to change the color to darker blonde, eh..?

Or I might cut my bangs but keep the length of my hair.

No. 7 - My favourite bangs so far. Looks a little younger on me.

No. 8 - I like the long bangs but it is just way too blonde, I think. Will go light brown if this one was choosen.

No. 9 - Oh la la... Like the hairstyle thought but definitely won't go so crazy on bleeching my hair.

No. 10 - This I would think I need to have a big hair to achieve the look. Won't work well on my limp and greasy hair. Oh well!

Or I might go a little crazy and cut it short.

No. 11 - Not too bad. Easy to maintain and save lots of time. And shampoo too!

No. 12 - Love the style and the color too but this would also cost a bomb - cut, perm and color and at least 3-5 hours in the salon.

No. 13 - Aaaah, not much into this. Too short for me but I do look alot younger with this hairstyle. No?

No. 14 - This would be the shortest. Kinda like it too but not the color. Never look good in dark black hair but I seriously like the hairstyle.

No. 15 - Ha... This would definitely make me look 10 years younger, eh..?

No. 16 - Hairstlye is okay but just wasn't ready to go with white color hair.

Whutchu think?

Emma's Birthday Party

So, Emma's birthday was on the 18th.

We bought some cupcakes for her friends at the daycare and a birthday cake for her at home that night.

Yup, my baby just turned 4. Still couldn't believe she will be going to Pre-K in 3 weeks.

And today, we invited some of her friends to ChuckECheeses for her birthday party.

This young lady wasn't in the best of mood....

but as soon as she saw Chuckee, her mood completely changed from a sour plum to sweet apple pie.

MrT took this picture as soon as we pulled in the carpark. Just love the smiley faces on the girls. Eh, why I look so fat in the picture...? Alahai..!!!

During the summertime, we like to cook most of our food on the grill. Be it steaks, hotdogs, tuna or hamburgers, the grill in our backyard has been our "bestfriend", working "his" b@tt off almost everyday.

In addition to being a fun summertime activity, grilling foods offers many other advantages.

One of the most beneficial advantages of grilling is that grilling, particularly grilling meats is far healthier than other methods which are used to cook meats.

I have to admit that I enjoy outdoor cooking alot as it cuts down the energy cost of using stove and oven in the house.

But for some particular reason, this young lady wasn't happy at all. If only I can read her mind!

And here is me, all smiling in MrT's mom's jammies. It's one of the most comfortable 100% cotton jammies I have in many.

I had a doctor appointment with my GP last Thursday and upon arrival at her office, the nurse checked my BP, measured my weight and all the whole nine yards. It turned out that my BP reading is NORMAL. 122/83. WTF?

Dr Sebastian said my BP is perfectly normal - nothing to worry about but have to re-check again in a couple of weeks just to be sure. Aaaah, it's a never ending story and I'm not going to sweat about it.

So, I'm very fine - very healthy. Just a little stress from work sometime, I guess.

Gotta go to bed now. Had a great party today and more pool time tomorrow. Arios!

Dawn said MrT was 47. I asked MrT how he feels about that and he said, "Darn, I guess I'm an old man..."

aint-super-woman said he was 37. MrT did a victory dance after hearing me said so. Aiyo, he can't be younger than me.

So Ladies (aint-super-woman & AuntieYan @ Makcik Blogger), your surprises should be in the mail soon. I have to apologies it's gonna take a while for me to get it shipped out. I'm SUPER busy with work and on weekends, the girls worn me out.

Went to have my blood pressure checked again this afternoon at my doctor's office.

Not good. It was at 140/90. The first time I had it checked a week ago, it was 148/88.

Had to get with my Family Practice and see what I need to do. It would be either I have to change my diet (cut down on salt intake and all the whole nine yard) or put me on medication.

I'm seriously not ready to deal with my HBP. I mean, come on, I'm still very young - not even 40. I have been eating healthy when I was on diet - mainly fruits and vegetables and I have not had a clue why my freaggin BP reading went up the roof.

Sorry I'm in a crabby mood and not ready to die of heart attack, so any advice on High Blood Pressure is very much appreciated.

It's MrT's birthday today.

I was going to stay as quiet as possible so that I don't have to invite the entire neighborhood over for a birthday party and work my *toot toot* off. That of course work out very well.

But anyhow, at the pool this evening, Barb (Annabel's friend, Ava's mom) did ask what we are going to do for MrT's birthday.

She's one of the super-friendly-soccer-mom type of woman in our neighborhood and I wasn't really surprised at all how in the world did she know MrT's birthday.

So I told Barb (short for Barbara, not Barbie... Haha!) we are going to have Famous Dave's BBQ Ribs take-out for dinner....

... and the girls, Cheeseburger with steak fries.

Dessert was ice-cream cake from Coldstone Cremery. Sinfully delicious and extremely expensive.

Last weekend at the grocery store, I found something that I really like.

I haven't had Udon for ages, so I grabbed a couple packs and cooked myself a sumptuous bowl of Udon for dinner.

It turned out not bad at all. Instant, quick and full of flavour.

Of course the presentation is far way out from what was shown on the packet itself but nevertheless, it was indeed one of the most satisfying meal of the week for me.

Had an annual check-up today. Not good. Blood pressure reading hit the roof. 148/88. Nurse said it should be 120/80. WTF!

Gotta check my BP in within two weeks. Pray for me, please.

Had alot in mind. Can't find the answers yet, so I'm off to bed hoping for a better tomorrow.
