Hey, it's pajama Sunday at my house. The CMS software is excellent for a first time blogger, I am enjoying learning how it works. But, as you can see from the Children's Photo Albums, I kinda messed things up...So I am waiting for the Tech Guy to figure out my errors so I can go back and add all those photos. I might be able to use Sushi and ice cream to make this happen, but he's a busy man so we'll wait till he has time. Until I can get back into Cat Lady Diary, Marcy is going to help me paint and decorate some birdhouses that I'll sell in my shop this summer. And there is a Law and Order marathon on USA so I'll have my detective friends to keep me company today..Thanks for stopping by!

I Love This Rug

Here's my Marcy Stein, on the new rug brought by the "man who brings chicken & Shrimp" (more on him later). The Children's Photo Albums are up and working and I will continue to add photos to them regularly.

Good news, a computer tech is coming over Monday morning...oddly, the issue I thought would be easiest to fix (blowing the crumbs out of the keyboard with an air gun) is the one he doesn't think he can fix. I'll keep you posted.

Hello Friends...no technological advancements today. On the contrary, my cell phone flatlined, and now the laptop shuts off unexpectedly because it's getting too hot. Well yes, the build up of Utz potato chips, chocolate covered cranberries and crunchy cat treats under the keys may be preventing proper air flow. Here I am, up near the ceiling, everything is satisfactory. I can't get close enough to the tree so you'll have to move the ladder if you'd like to see me chew the leaves.

The computer tech was helpful, Mommy hopes the people at Dell continue to provide excellent customer service and send a new battery and power cord, both wore out in just over a year. If the Laptop has to go bub-bye in a box Mommy will be down at the Provincetown Library making blog enteries and printing. Note to slot machine enthusiasts: the change machine connected to the printer in the front lobby gives back $3.50 in change for $1.00 and gives you four copies. Of course if this happens to you, give the money back to the library, it's the right thing to do.

I'm Little Stevie Katz and this ball represents the sun, which is not out today, it's cold and stormy on Cape Cod and the boiled chicken has run out. There is a small amount of Honey Ham in the tall cold box that I am keeping my eyes on.

Mommy is getting a new motherboard tomorrow! And the man is making a house call to install it. Dell Computers is doing it free of charge (they overnighted a new power cord yesterday). We must give a big paws up to them, excellent customer service in our native language (English).

Yes, I know what you are thinking, "Is that bubble gum flavored ice cream next to Little Stevie Katz?" Yes, yes it is. Please note that the can of whipped cream is not the regular full size but a smaller, (petite if you may) single person size. I'm not really big on ice cream, but I have a friend who really likes it so when I am especially missing him I will eat some in bed late at night. I think he would strongly object to the bubble gum flavor..."Um, maybe you should speak to your therapist about your candy issues", I can hear him now.

Pink always catches my eye and I'm sugar/curious...feels like a summer afternoon flavor. Did I have ice cream for dinner instead of the planned cabbage and tofu stirfry? Yes, yes I did. Will having pink ice cream make up for the lack of love I am feeling these days? Sadly, yes, it will.

The whipped cream is always a hit with the kitties, it really gets them racing around the house so we'll be busy tonight. I found these great lace hearts on sale at JoAnn's Fabrics, so I'll probably be up late (hopped up on the sugar) decorating them with seashells or something. Here on the Cape it's always something with the seashells. Gotta go, Little Stevie is demanding to be brushed. Thanks for listening.

Mommy took a drive up cape today and met this seagull in the parking lot at CVS. Unusual?

Yes, I do think so because several other wet shoppers were taking notice of him as well.

I think he blew over from The Orleans Yacht Club.

I picked up a bag of organic vegetables at the wonderful Orleans Whole Food Store and a

flyer (printed on recycled paper of course) from a place called The Earth Center down in Chatham.

They believe in giving the world encouraging energy through thoughtful motivations and real actions.

I'm pretty sure these guys were on WOMR a few weeks ago and it was a wonderful program about

the growing demand for "green" building on Cape Cod. Mommy loves to hear good news like that.

Mommy just hired a new tech guy!! We are so excited we celebrated with ice cream for lunch. Well ok, since the OTG (old tech guy) abandoned us it has been ice cream for lunch everyday, but not out of sadness, just because ice cream is delicious and what else am I going to put the Butterscotch sauce and whipped cream on?

We love and bless OTG, and wish only the highest good for him. Did I ever tell you that he was eaten by a tiger in one of his previous lives? Oh, more about that later.

I must share this glamourous photo of Daisy the Curly Cat with you. Mommy is so smitten with this little girl, I think she is my favorite feline (not currently living in my house of course). She is just a dollbaby. None of my children have been bitten by the fashion bug...I did manage to get this faux fur stole onto a sleepy Little Stevie Katz but sadly, she did not enjoy it. In our house we have a magical talking box filled with Mommy's friends who keep us company and play us music. What is it you ask?, it's Outermost Community Radio, WOMR 92.1 in Provincetown. Womr is one of the few remaining nonprofit, non-commercial, educational radio stations left in this country.
There's Captain Frank with real country music, Hillary Bamford with Friday Folk, Bluegrass, lots of jazz, Legs up and Dancing with Lady Di, Herb Talk and even Mulligan Stew (which makes us hungry). Oh and so much more including my favorite, "Democracy Meow".
Mommy says they are awesomely passionate DJs the likes of which can't be heard anywhere else in the known world. We take her word because our paws can't work the dial. (Grown-ups can also listen on the inter-net) Tune in and pledge to support the greatest little radio station ever, WOMR!!!

Weekend Meditation/Catfight!

It's me, Marcy Stein with some flowers Mommy brought to a meditation workshop this weekend. There was chanting, breathing, and magical energy work. There was no chicken, whipped cream, or unattended butter dishes for me this weekend. I did chew on some of those fuzzy greens and threw them up under the kitchen table.

Today Mommy went to Northside Marina to help Matthew paint his sailboat. He bought her fried clams, a portabella mushroom burger, and a caramel milkshake at The Chocolate Sparrow in Orleans. I'm a fussy eater so none of those things appeal to me and I'm not sure if I would enjoy all that sand between my delicate toes. A happy Mommy is good for me because now she is filling my belly with Temptations treats! Yeah Matthew!

Remenber last Wordless Weds when my photo was me acting aloof at the vet's office? They shaved me! Well just a spot on my arm. I was not making my Pee-Pees and acting cranky. Mommy did a lot of Reiki on me thinking I had a blockage that needed to be dissolved but the Doc said there was none. I do have a kinda exotic and mysterious thing called "FLUTD" (Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease). I have new delicious crunchy food and Mom says I have to drink a lot more water. I'm a good boy and I do it!

Thanks to all the nice peoples at CARE Cape Animal Referral & Emergency Center in South Dennis for being nice and gentle with me! They even have Acupuncture! Do you peoples of the internet think acupuncture could help me loose a little weight like the Doc said or should I just keep chasing the laser light?

So Summer is here and Mommy has to go to a place she calls Mommy's Little Goldmine every day from after breakfast till just before our 11PM snack. She says at the Goldmine she sells treasures to the happy Cape Cod visitors. This is confusing to us because there is no gold there. There must be bacon because that's what she tells us she brings home to exchange for our house and food and heat. There has been no actual bacon in the house since Mommy went Veg. "Love Animals don't eat them" Mommy says. This stuffed shark is a big hit with the childrens Mommy says. Well, not so much with me.

Greetings from Me... David! We are having a little rain here in Provincetown but no worry... The day is brightened by a visit to Farlands!, our wonderful little neighborhood market. Here Mommy gets de-lish treats like the Homemade buttermilk cinnamon bun pictured here

Oh and the stuffed grape leaves, tofu in peanut butter sauce, and the amazing bread puddings!
Everyone is helpful and happy at this little gem of a market and you can call ahead with your order, it will be ready in a beach cooler when you arrive! When visiting Provincetown, visit Farlands, on the corner of Bradford and Conwell. I am not allowed to drive but they have parking for you if your mom lets you. Mom says I'm not on her insurance.

I have stopped wrestling with the Hyper (hot?) link code. After 3 hours of tweeking it I think I have written it correctly, but the blog entry template itself won't accept HTML, or at the least this kind of link without it being given permission somewhere in preferences. Mommy can't find that place, and if she did...well lets's just say there are things she's not supposed to touch and she don't always know what they are. It's another cold, rainy day on Cape Cod, perhaps the children will pose for some dark, brooding cat photos. Feels like a sushi day.

Reincarnation of "Bat Boy"

Here's Marcy Stein (looking a little like "Bat Boy" from The old Weekly World News. To the right are Kristopher, Little Stevie (foreground) and Arjuna in the way back. I am holding the camera and a Ziploc bag full of boiled chicken that my father brought. Since I am pretty much a vegetarian they only get "Meat Treats" on occassion, such as a visit from Jaju (thats grandfather in Polish). Dinner tonight was pasta in a shrimp sauce. With the tomato base no one could smell the shrimp, except for Kristopher who had two shrimps from my plate without anyone taking notice. Then I started feeding him the stir-fried carrots from my cabbage, celery, and carrot mixture. He is such a good little boy. Here are ten foods that Kristopher enjoys:

I accidentally changed one of my camera settings and then could not get a decent photo of the children all morning. And there was a huge ladder in the living room...cats love ladders! Kitten in a barrel of Sharks

Ever feel like a kitten in a barrel full of sharks?

This is my first try at what they call "rendering", that's what the boy in the video* called it, I call it cutting out part of the picture (Kristopher) from the background, which was a storm door. Then I "merged" it with another photo using "layering". All this happened in a fabulous program called the Gimp. Love the Gimp.

*Youtube is proving to be a wonderful source of educational videos, more on this later. I am trying to track down the font the tech guy used to make the CLD logo, does anyone out there recognize it??

Spring is for the birds

It was a sunny weekend on Cape Cod and Mommy finished up her birdhouses...you can check them out here We tried to play the "hide the cat treats in the plastic eggs and roll them around till they open up" game but not one of them had the patience. They much rather have Mommy deposit the treats directly into their mouths. Well, so would I.

This is a photo of the seagull who showed up in the backyard, perhaps hoping for some jelly beans or marshmellow peeps. What this photo does not show is the stream of fecal matter he expelled into the birdseed dish when he found its contents not to his liking. This is the most unhappy bird I have ever seen.

Welcome to Cat Lady Diary...The life of a Cape Cod woman who shares her home with six cats. February is the launch month of Cat Lady Diary and I'm delighted you've come along! The children have been pestering me for their own web site and the tranquility of the Cape Cod winter has finally brought their little cat head dreams to life. I'm Mommy, I run a retail shop and website based in Provincetown MA and this is my first blogging adventure. My goal is to give you 28 postings and pictures in 28 days while I learn the mechanics of the CMS blogging software. It's what they call "open source" and is free to use,(my favorite kind of software) so in addition to my cats and Cape Cod, I'll be giving you some what of a software review as I go along. Today's task is to try and post the children's "photo albums" on their profile pages (I think), But I have a feeling I will be told that is wrong,,, so perhaps on pages somewhere else. I would also like to figure out how to import a font style and size. Learning these things on my own makes the Tech Guy very happy, or at least happy he doesn't have to deal with me.

Blue Boat Meditations

Mommy went down to the beach to meditate after waiting at the shop for the town inspector to come and do the yearly once-over. He never arrived so it was basically an exercise in resisting the temptation of the milk chocolate covered cranberries and the caramel filled bog frogs.

I am grateful for the reason to go into town, which resulted in my much needed beach meditation. Going out into the world, taking action and engaging in what we love is what we all should be doing. For the simple pleasure it brings to us now. Our actions need not be judged by what benefit they might produce in the future, the future doesn't even exist.
