When logging in to Exelare, you’ve probably noticed the little message that reads:

“Launch Exelare from a Desktop Shortcut!  Learn More”

If you click the link and follow the instructions, you’ll soon be launching Exelare directly from that desktop shortcut on your computer.  Here at cBizSoft, we refer to the desktop shortcut as running Exelare in “Desktop Mode”.

Here are just a few of the benefits of running Exelare in “Desktop Mode”:

Let’s drill down into more detail about what each of these benefits really mean.

Behaves like any other desktop based software program

Pretty self explanatory here.  When you launch Exelare from a desktop shortcut, the experience is the same as if the program were installed on your computer.  So instead of opening a browser, navigating to a website and logging in, you simply double click the icon on your desktop!  Additionally, once Exelare is running, you will see an icon for the software in your system tray, along with any other program you currently have open.  This is handy because it allows you to quickly switch between programs.  You don’t have to switch to your browser and then to the active tab inside the browser.

Increased local application storage means an even faster user experience

When running Exelare through your desktop shortcut, your application storage increases from 1 MB to 25 MB.  This means we can store more information on your local computer, thus improving the speed at which the application runs.  Keep in mind, Exelare was built to be fast no matter how you access it.  In fact, Exelare is faster than any of our competitors purely web based apps, hands down.  Running from a desktop shortcut just gives you a little bit extra – making the fastest product even faster!

Enhanced Integration with Outlook

You’ll notice in your options menu that there are three options for sending email.  Those options are

• Use Outlook if Exelare Started using a desktop shortcut, otherwise use Exelare

• Always use Outlook

• Always use Exelare

If you select the first or second option, Exelare will use your local Outlook program to send email.  This way you have a record of the sent email in Exelare and also in Outlook.  This can only be accomplished using Exelare from the desktop shortcut.  Otherwise emails you send will only be seen in Exelare.

An additional benefit is the ability to open emails from Exelare directly in the native Outlook format.  When viewing an email inside of Exelare, just open the email and you’ll notice the email is in Outlook format, complete with the full functionality of Outlook built in.

Mass Emailing Feature Enabled

The mass emailing feature is activated when you run Exelare in ‘Desktop Mode’.  It was implemented this way because running in ‘Desktop Mode’ allows Exelare to use your computer’s local IP address, instead of using IP addresses hosted by cBizSoft.  The benefit to this is that your sending reputation isn’t affected by other cBizSoft users.   It also means that we (cBizSoft) don’t place any limits whatsoever on your sending abilities.  It makes no difference to us whether you send 10, 10,000, or 100,000 emails each day.  As long as your ISP allows it, so will Exelare.

Our amazing development team has been hard at work building our new dashboards & reporting framework for Exelare.  The framework they have created allows us to build almost any kind of dashboard or report you can think of.  If the data is there, we can probably show it to you visually.

LinkedIn Browser Plugin (for Chrome)

As promised, our integrations with LinkedIn will always be improving.  Now in addition to sourcing and viewing LinkedIn profiles in Exelare, you can also add profiles directly to the database using our Chrome Browser extension!  Just log in to the Chrome web store and add the Exelare Extensions to your browser.  Once you enter your Exelare credentials in to the extension, you’ll be off and running.  Just find a LinkedIn profile and hit the button.  Its that easy!

Email Dropboxes / Gmail Integration

Most of our clients use Outlook for their primarily email client, but we have received more and more requests from users who would prefer to integrate Exelare and cBizOne with Gmail and other email programs.  This is especially important if you are a Mac user, since we don’t support the Mac version of Outlook with our xBar plugin.

Our new Email Dropboxes allow you to use almost any email client on the planet to link email messages to contacts and candidates inside Exelare.  We even have a special email address that lets you parse resumes just by forwarding them to your very own Resume dropbox address.  Anyone with access to Exelare can start using the Dropboxes immediately!  Just log in to Exelare, go to your Email Dropbox settings and you’ll see the instructions (detailed blog post coming shortly as well).  To get you started, here are a few videos covering each flavor of Email Dropbox:

Advanced Call List Management

As a recruiter or account manager, your call list is extremely important.  We tend to live on the phones.  We have just improved the call list management window in Exelare and we think you’re going to love it.  You can easily snooze multiple items in one fell swoop, mark calls as done, or delete the calls if you don’t need them any more.  Additionally, hyperlinks to your linked contacts, candidates, jobs & companies quickly take you to the record in question so you don’t have to manually search for anything!  You can also now minimize the reminder window so it doesn’t obstruct your view during a call.

Multitasking Functionality

As many of you already know, Exelare is not just a web based software.   Exelare is a Rich Internet Application (RIA).  That means it is fully web based, but it behaves like a desktop program.  You as the user will see the benefits immediately.  Now you can open multiple records at once, multiple emails, notes, appointment, call and interview windows.  Unlike static HTML applications, you don’t have to save what you are doing before you go to the next thing.  Now you can feel free to multi-task to your hearts content!  We think that’ll lead to more placements!

As many of you already know, our next generation of cBizOne is called Exelare.  Exelare is a Rich Internet Application that lives inside of your browser.  The majority of our new developments have been taking place inside of Exelare.  Unless you’ve been diligent about logging in, you probably haven’t noticed these new developments. But fear not!  I’m going to let you in on some of the most interesting new features.  Read on below and then log in to Exelare to try them out for yourself.

New Themes

When we first made Exelare available to our Alpha users, we were using the “classic” look many of you are probably already familiar with.  However, with the unique Silverlight framework, we have the ability to produce multiple “themes” that live on top of the same user interface.  Check out our new “modern” theme in Exelare.  Just click on the options menu button on the top right hand corner of your screen and choose the “modern” them.  You can always switch back and forth between modern & classic as you see fit!  As we continue to grow the platform, it’s possible you’ll see even more custom themes in the future.

LinkedIn Integration

One of the most requested features for Exelare has been integration with LinkedIn.  Our team spent countless hours soliciting feedback from our users and scheming on the best way to integrate with the LinkedIn platform.  We’ll let you decide for yourself, but we think you’re going to love what we’ve done with it.  Now you can easily Source Candidates, Import your connections, and even link and update your candidate profiles directly to LinkedIn – all without ever needing to leave the Exelare interface!  The first time you try it, you’ll need to connect to your LinkedIn Account and give Exelare permission to connect with it.

Faceted Search

In Recruiting, finding the right candidate is what our jobs are all about.  Therefore it is imperative to have the absolute best search capabilities possible.  Improving on our already lighting fast advanced search, and industry only live search bar, we’ve come up with an impressive addition to our search arsenal.  Introducing faceted search!  Use custom facets determined by you to easily drill down to sub-sets of search results.  For example, start a search for “Sales, Marketing & Business Development” and then easily filter down results based on locations, salary ranges, groups or anything else you can think of.  Use it in conjunction with Live Search to find your perfect candidate faster than you ever thought possible.  We can’t wait for you to give it a try!

CareerBuilder & Monster.com continue to be one of the most popular places on the web to post jobs and source candidates.  That’s why as part of our new sourcing platform, we’ve chosen these two major sites as the logical first integration’s.    Now its easy to source candidates from CareerBuilder and Monster directly from the Exelare Interface.  Type in your search terms, pull in the results and with one click you can import any candidate directly in to Exelare.

Luckily this is just the beginning.  It took us awhile to get our new sourcing framework just right – CareerBuilder & Monster.com are just the beginning.  Look for additions to other popular resume boards coming in the very near future.

We have always received great feedback about our mass emailing tools inside of cBizOne.  It only takes seconds to find a list of candidates or contacts and quickly send out a personalized campaign.  It really was a no-brainer to bring this same functionality to the Exelare Platform as well.  As of today you can easily send email merge campaigns on the fly to 2, 10, 100, or of course thousands of recipients with just a few clicks – there are no limits!

HotLists & JobLists

Marketing your talent and of course your open positions is extremely important in a number of different staffing & recruiting business models.  This is why we have always put a big focus on tools that let you effectively manage both candidate HotLists (advertising talent) and JobLists (advertising jobs).  Our HotList & JobList functionality is unique in that you can dynamically send out one job or hundreds of jobs with just a few clicks to any number of recipients.  Being one of the features that put cBizOne on the map back in 2000, we had to keep it for you in Exelare.  Go ahead and give it a try!  You’ll find the same ease of use as you already love in cBizOne.

Advanced Email Options

In addition to the features mentioned above, we’ve also added a few other cool features for email inclined users.  Now its easy to setup multiple email accounts/identities so you can send email on behalf of company email accounts, or even other users.  We have also implemented custom email signatures for easily changing the body of your email messages on the fly.  Create an unlimited number of email signatures for quick reply templates, or different signatures for different lines of businesses or departments.  Email accounts and custom signatures are just another way we help make you a faster recruiter!

So there you have it folks.  As you can see, we’ve been hard at work bringing new features to Exelare.  You can only expect more and more good stuff to come!  Keep in mind that we are still technically in an Alpha Release so you can and will see small errors from time to time.  We are working hard on eliminating any of these before our official Beta Launch.  Your efforts in using Exelare as Alpha users help us to identify these small remaining bugs so we can launch it that much sooner.  So yes!  Please let us know if you see any!

If you are a current user of cBizOne Cloud, you are welcome to begin using Exelare at any time as an additional access point to your data.  Use cBizOne at work, and Exelare while in a different location.  Or Exelare at home, and cBizOne while at work!  It doesn’t really matter since both interfaces share the exact same database.  Any work you do in Exelare is saved in cBizOne and vice versa.  Who knows, you might end up liking Exelare so much that you start using it on a daily basis.  I know I have!

Getting the word out about your team’s open jobs is an extremely important part of the recruiting process.  You want to make sure that the positions you recruit for are reaching as large and as targeted of an audience as possible.  Direct recruiting and phone calls are always going to be a major part of what recruiters do every day, but marketing your jobs online is also an extremely important part of the equation.  Anything we can do to help you automate that task will save you time and as a result hopefully help you make more placements.

If you are a cBizOne Cloud user, you know that you already have the ability to automate the posting of your jobs to sites like Indeed & SimplyHired.  That’s good because both of these sites are the leaders in online jobs aggregation.  However, these sites are no longer free.  Today we are announcing a new integration with a great up and coming site called Glassdoor.

If you are already signed up for auto-posting to Indeed & SimplyHired, your jobs are now automatically being posted to Glassdoor as well.   This means more potential job seekers coming your way at no additional cost to you (Free Advertising).  Since Glassdoor has almost 2 Million unique visitors per month, this integration has a real potential impact to your business.  We sincerely hope it benefits you and your firm.

If you aren’t familiar with Glassdoor already, it’s worth taking a closer look.  Like Indeed & SimplyHired, Glassdoor is a jobs aggregator – but with a social twist.  Through their service, job seekers have the ability to connect through their personal Facebook accounts and view connections they might have inside of the companies and jobs they are interested in applying for.  This means that if your jobs are posted on Glassdoor, job seekers can quickly see if they are connected to your team members in any way.  It definitely helps to encourage conversion rates.

Wait, what?  Indeed, SimplyHired, Glassdoor?  Eh?

If you find yourself wondering what we are talking about here, don’t worry.  We are here to help.  Many of our cBizOne Cloud clients have not yet setup auto-posting to these sites.  Additionally, based on our last announcement we made regarding Indeed & SimplyHired, users were disappointed that these services are no longer free.  Moreover many clients were not interested in paying for the service.  The basic service from Glassdoor is free.
