FLORHAM PARK, NJ – For the third year in a row, the Georgia Mining Association (GMA) gave its President's Safety Award to BASF sites, including Middle Georgia (kaolin), Hartwell (mica), Attapulgus (catalyst) and Savannah (catalyst). This is the top safety award given by the trade association and takes into consideration all mining companies in the state of Georgia. The award is given to the company in Georgia's mining industry that has the best overall safety record among companies working in excess of 500,000 man hours annually. LA MIRADA, Calif. – Jan. 29, 2009 – E.T. Horn Company, a leading distributor, manufacturer and marketer of specialty chemicals and ingredients, today announced the promotion of Bob Ahn to president of the Industrial Groups and Vince Anderson to vice president of the Coatings and Building Materials Group.
According to E.T. Horn President Jeff Martin, the industrial side of the company’s business accounted for 56 percent of its gross profits in 2008 and continues to be a stable and reasonably fast-growing sector.
“Ahn’s skills in managing principal and customer relationships have helped to drive the growth of our Coatings Group for more than a decade,” said Martin. “His straight-forward leadership skills, diplomatic style and innovative methods make him well suited for the challenges ahead.”
Ahn was previously vice president of sales for the Coatings & Buildings Materials Group. He started with E.T. Horn May 1996.
“I’m looking forward to strengthening E.T. Horn’s position as the leading supplier of specialty raw materials in the West and Southwest by providing our customers with products, solutions and services that greatly exceed expectations” said Ahn.
Martin said Anderson’s “highly organized methods” and “tenacious business attitude” have been the key to consistently successfully managing many industrial coatings accounts. Anderson hopes to build on that success.
“As the leading specialty chemical distributor on the West Coast and in the Southwest territory, my goal is to lead the Coatings and Building Materials Group to new heights,” said Anderson, who originally joined E.T. Horn in 1996 as a senior account manager. “Part of our focus will be on attracting new principals and customers that seek innovative products and solutions.”
Martin feels that despite the recent financial crisis and many principal mergers and acquisitions, E.T. Horn’s position and reputation in the marketplace has been key in allowing the company continual growth opportunities.
