After shooting this wedding, there is no doubt that destination weddings are our favorite. This wedding was amazing for so many reasons. We love love love Isabel & Eli. St. Thomas wasn't too shabby either.

Their Story, by Isabel:

"Eli and I met at work my second year of college. It might not have been your classic “I-spotted-him-across-the-room-and-just-knew” love story, but when he still liked me after watching me model our store's winter outerwear for men (toboggan hat included), I knew I had someone special. We had so much fun together, and I remember thinking one evening, as we shared Chinese food and a game of Uno, that I had found the man I wanted to marry. By the end of that year, though, we realized our lives were leading in different directions, so we ended our relationship. But it was one of those loves that never really goes away – the kind where you always wonder, 'what if?'
 
When our paths crossed again three years later, we both realized that we were, in the end, better together. We picked up right where we left off, and in March of 2010, Eli proposed.
 
We decided to get married in the Virgin Islands with just our immediate families present. Eli had always wanted a beach wedding, and St. Thomas was beautiful and easily accessible. It also allowed us to focus on the parts of the day that were most important to us. Our wedding day was absolutely perfect – from the weather to the steel pan drummer to the phenomenal photographs – and we were so happy to get to share it with the people we love.
 
Back when we were dating in college, my favorite story to tell was that on our first date, the fortune under the cap of my Jones Soda read, “Your love life will be happy and harmonious.” I had no idea then just how happy it would be. I also had no idea that there would be iguanas at my wedding, but in the end, everything – from the reptiles to my husband – was so much more than I ever could have imagined."

We shot an engagement session for Jae K & Joe in Richmond a few weeks ago. Their wedding is coming up next year. I've enjoyed a lot of sessions, but this was one of my favorites. Lots of reasons. First: It was Jae K and Joe. Second: They're awesome. Third: Richmond. Fourth: We really like Jae K and Joe. Fifth: Richmond is also awesome. 

Cassie shot a lot of this session, because I was still crutching around with my broken foot. I pitched in here and there - enough to get a tiny bit of credit. Not a lot, just a bit. Here are a few of our favorites, followed by a slightly longer slideshow. Can't wait for the wedding!

Sarah & Ben. VA Tech vs. UVA. But this rivalry is madly in love. Cassie and I rarely get to shoot together, but we covered this one as a team, and it was great! The wedding was held at a family home in Orange, and had what you could say is about the most unbelievable rural view you could ask for. Rolling green hills, historic homes, a beautiful pond... I could have given my camera to a monkey and gotten great shots. Luckily we're a hair more experienced than monkeys. Sometimes we work with people who we enjoy so much we could be friends with them, and this was one of those events. It was actually sad for us when the night ended. You can tell from the photos that everyone, without exception, had a great time - including us! Cheers to Sarah & Ben. I had a great time editing these photos, and remembering your wedding! I should say first of all that I thoroughly enjoyed working with Maeve, Travis, and their families. What an unbelievably nice bunch of people! I say working, but that's a loose term when I'm having fun. This crowd knew how to cut loose and have a great time. Some weddings, it's like pulling teeth getting people out on the dance floor. That was most definitely NOT the case here. The floor was packed, all night long, bobbing to a fantastic band. But a bit about the before-the-party-action. After the ceremony was over, we took a ride down to Old Town Alexandria. It's an incredible place to shoot. We had enough time to go to a couple different spots, and the wedding party was very patient while I made them walk a few blocks on a weekend down King Street. We ended up finding some really interesting buildings, and I got some shots that I really like. But what stood out to me the most about this wedding was how much FUN it was! Maeve, Travis... Thanks you so much for letting me be there with you both! It was great going back through all the photos during editing and remembering the wedding. Cheers! Here are some pics. :)

Jaron had the privilege of shooting the ever beautiful Sarah P. for both her bridal session and her wedding. She's the kind of bride that makes our job a breeze. You can't get a bad picture of her! We love, love, love the birdcage veil she wore in the bridal session. Classy sassy! Here's some of our favorite photos from the bridal session. We had a great time touring around Richmond's many photo opt spots. This is on our top ten list of favorite sessions. Stay tuned for the wedding photos we'll post at a later date.

Here's one of the weddings from the past summer. I had such a great time at this wedding. I love love love Xan & Allen! Xan is so full of life, and it really comes across in the photos. She makes my job easy. The whole crowd at this wedding was awesome. It was one of those high energy parties with lots dancing and laughing. The party even continued after the reception ended. They twisted my arm <wink> and invited me to celebrate with them. It was great to put down the camera and enjoy the after-party party with them.
