The Executive Com met yesterday afternoon to make plans for CC-30 con suite party on Sunday night after the historical masquerade. "Southern Hospitality" will be the theme for our party. We may not be able to Get the Queen of the South, Miss Paula Deen as our Guest of honor but you better believe we’ll be having some fun with a few of her recipes.

I just checked the ICG website's list of upcoming cons. I can think of very few good reasons why we can't at least contact them ALL and tell them about Costume-Con 30!! Please, everyone, if there's a con in your area, any kind of con!, drop off some fliers. They can be printed from the link on the main page of our web site. You only need to put a few of them out to make a difference. They may not even know about us yet - and they should! Really, it's for their own good, right? RIGHT!

contribute! I'm trying to limit all program participants to 2 panels or
less so they don't go insane, so please don't think I'll overload you.
Right now I'm especially looking for someone who can talk about costume
books, show off costumes with rhinestones and sequins, teach distressing,
fashion history, making and transporting large props, online costuming, and
pockets and buttonholes. I also have 20 program slots to fill with new
ideas, so if you have something original I'm open to hear it! All
registered members should have gotten a programming questionnaire, but if
you're coming but haven't bought a membership yet or your questionnaire got

OK, everyone, it's time to get serious about CostumeCon 30! With just over 3 months to go, I (for one) am getting REeeeeEEEEeellllLLLLy bouncing up n down excited!! Really! Time to be building costumes, but also time to buy those memberships. Every day someone on the committee has another great new idea for us, and we may need 3 weeks to fit it all in - but it's gonna fit. I promise.

This is also the time to think about volunteering for something. We will need ninjas, den parents, gophers and techies. Gophers & techies are needed in con ops as well as all for the masquerades. Various table-bound folks will need breaks, so we could use some of you for that, too. Volunteer for stuff. All you get for your work is our undying thanks and appreciation, but hey, what more do you need? We suffer for our art, right?

Costume Con 30 is excited to announce a new event! On Monday, May 14 there will be a special day-long seminar on How to Run a Masquerade to wrap up the convention. Fifteen experienced Costume Con and WorldCon Masquerade runners and staff will conduct classes in many topics, including how to set rules, working with tech, how to choose judges, and setting up a green room. The eight hour session will end with an hour-long discussion on how to bid for and run a Costume Con with Costume Con's founder and owner Karen Dick. Masquerade runners and potential runners for competitions big and small are invited to learn and share their knowledge at this special event. Yesterday's walk-through of the hotel went extremely well! Out tech team measured everything in sight, and will post a new stage diagram soon. It is pretty much the same as the old one, so no surprises. The stage will be 16x24', with wings left and right. Default will be entry stage left and exit stage right, but both sides can be used, if you like.

The con suite has also been scoped out, and declared adequate. Lots of places to sit and schmooze, with an exit onto the pool deck. We'll also have some seating out there, so you can come from the hot tubs (plural!) and sit with a snack.

We will have 5 static function rooms opening onto the atrium, and some other spaces will also be used. Please volunteer to be on panels, or to suggest topics to be included.

Most of all, if you haven't already done so, JOIN! This is going to be SERIOUS fun!!
You don't want to miss out!

We're getting closer, folks!! I hope you are all working on costumes, cactus hand puppets, dolls and quilts. On our part, we are working on filling the large dealers' room with irresistable goodies to tempt you. OK, you heard the lady. Send your designs for the future Fashion folio in awreddy! The more the merrier, and you don't even have to sew anything (yet).
The next big thing to work on is your entry into the Quilt Contest and Display. We know you don't just make costumes, so come out of the quilt closet and put your best quilts on our walls!
