What We Learnt on SCAMP 09 - by Skye PJ

1. While taking a relaxing walk on the beach, watch your step. Just trust me. 

2. Christians work as a team, like the Turtles, for the good of the world, like the Planeteers, and are part of one body, like the Power Rangers. 

2.5 Depending on what season, there may be a green Power Ranger. 

3. It’s a big bag, but it’s got two towels, a sleeping bag and a pillow. I win. 

4. There is no such thing as a quick game of Risk or Settlers. 

5. I looked like I escaped from the Thriller music clip. 

6. Lauren and Rachel did set up that tent all by themselves. Thank you very much. 

7. Take four: “I’m sure the fly goes this way… maybe.’ 

8. Camera + open shutter + torch = Mad, mad fun. 

9. Ryan paints a creepy Dora the Explorer. 

10. Henry the turtle/tortoise guards Royce’s Bible. 

11. Pretty sure Solo is the best card game ever. 

12. Mafia is quick becoming SCAMP’s official sport. 

13. Certain people get voted out, every time. No exceptions. If they don’t, they are probably mafia and should be voted out. 

14. I’m going to Red Rooster and I’m bringing: An annoying word game with no rules. 

15. Why are there never enough cups? 

16. Secretly, everyone’s dancing to the radio in the shower. 

17. 5:30? Why, birds? Why? 

18. Last one on the water eats poo! 

19. I have a never-ending stockpile of lollies and chips. 

20. Two tents, four people and all their luggage into a tiny Getz? Ryan is the packing King. 

21. No one knows who Putin is, Andrew, and it is pretty damn difficult to act it out. 

22. Fui Fui Moi Moi? Are you serious? 

23. “Moses… Abraham. Jesus said, ‘I tell you the truth…’” If you just say random words from the Bible, people think you’re reading the passage and shut up fairly quickly. 

24. There are never enough torches, and always too many guy-ropes. 

25. Eliot, you’re creeping out the kids. Go was your facepaint off. 

26. A simple game of volleyball can be made so much more exciting by commentation like a horse-race. 

27. Or a tennis match. 

28. Or a chess game. 

29. All theological discussions are better at 1am. 

30. When you’re repacking your bag: You’re being optimistic. Everything needs a wash. Even if you didn’t wear it.

Term 4 is always a sweet, sweet term. The winter blues vanish, you finally beat that cold, you notice the days are longer, the nights are warmer, the sky is blue-er. School takes it easy for a bit. You start to lose that moon-tan as you hit the beaches. And EV Youth enters its last (and possibly sweetest) term of the year.

Jesus. Epic games. Cracking talks from the Bible. JCAMP. SCAMP. And a killer end of year party. Get excited!
