top-40.org net-label is presenting 2 new albums.

<img src="http://top-40.org/top_2009/top06_FSB_Spy_device/Spy%20device.jpg" style="border: 0;" onLoad="if(this.width > 550) {this.width = 550;}" onmouseout="nd();" onmouseover="if(this.width == 550) {return overlib('', ol_fgcolor='', ol_bgcolor='', ol_width=147, ol_offsetx=22, ol_offsety=-7, CAPTION, '');}" onclick="if(this.width == 550) { window.open('templates/NB2/resizefix.php?originalsize=http://top-40.org/top_2009/top06_FSB_Spy_device/Spy%20device.jpg', '_blank' , 'scrollbars=1, toolbar=no, resizable=1, menubar=no, directories=no, status=yes'); return false; }" />

Another installment in the "spy" series by F.S.B.
Often we can't identify that we're under permanent surveillance. Who knows, maybe this hasteless humming we can hear every night is not a fridge in the kitchen or a power block in the TV-set? Maybe it's a malfunctioned spy device. Lost transmissions are now being spot. Tune in...

<img src="http://top-40.org/top_2009/top07_KBC_Shipenie/icon.jpg" style="border: 0;" onLoad="if(this.width > 550) {this.width = 550;}" onmouseout="nd();" onmouseover="if(this.width == 550) {return overlib('', ol_fgcolor='', ol_bgcolor='', ol_width=147, ol_offsetx=22, ol_offsety=-7, CAPTION, '');}" onclick="if(this.width == 550) { window.open('templates/NB2/resizefix.php?originalsize=http://top-40.org/top_2009/top07_KBC_Shipenie/icon.jpg', '_blank' , 'scrollbars=1, toolbar=no, resizable=1, menubar=no, directories=no, status=yes'); return false; }" />

KBC "Hissing"

In our researches we're never before really introduced to hip-hop. Filling this lacuna, we're presenting experimental project, which is like nothing you heard before. In brutal and raw style noise, field recordings and rap are combined altogether! In a halting voice, while drifting through the noisy urban dust storm, the rapper is shouting out his own intimate truths, in a crude and straightforward form, holding his almost broken dictaphone in a weakening hands.

Also, for everyone who enjoyed our previous album "Dropout" we recommend to check the second chapter of it. DropouT "Telephone station breakdown" is out now on http://quietzone.in
this is great for exporting a project to other DAWs, or even to save CPU Load.... do don't have to bounce down to audio and be limited!!!

The de-facto pro-studio standard is absolutely still Pro Tools, particularly in studios that do a lot of tracking. Many project studios are using Logic--a somewhat comparable Logic system might cost 1/5th what a Pro Tools system would.

Some pro-mixing/post studios are switching over to Logic (www.reeq.mu is a good example, and a great studio as well).

I'm sure Ableton is the most popular DAW in live use, but lots of other things of similar function get used besides DAW's (Max, PD, Muse Receptor, Traktor, etc.).

Hi all, I am new to the forum although I've been following CDM since quite some time. I registered to share my experience with nanoKontrol which at the moment isn't very pleasing.

I bought the nanoKontrol last week because of the great price-value combination that it seemed. I immediately hooked it to my favorite VJ app and all seemed fine> the controllers were easy to set up, the nano seemed responsive and precise, etc..

All seemed ok and I was happy.. until friday night when I took the nano to a gig. As you probably know at the gigs things get really intense and there I first noticed problems with responsiveness> if I moved two sliders together, the software would register only one!! After some examination it seemed that nanoKontrol can't send more than one MIDI control message at the same time! Or least not reliably.. I finished my gig disappointed.

On saturday I had another gig, so during the day I tried to fix things.. I googled a lot, and found out about Korg's updated USB driver for MAC OS X which I installed and hoped for the best. I also checked that everything was ok in my software and in general with the sw part of the setup. (before nanoKontrol i was using Evolution UC33 without any problems)

Unfortunately saturday gig was the same story as friday's = nano still couldn't simultaneously send more than one MIDI control despite the updated driver! This means that whenever i had the need to change two (or more) parameters simultaneously I basically couldn't! I had to first change one parameter and then another with a few milliseconds delay! I was and still am really disappointed.

I keep on looking into possible solutions, but for now it seems that there is not much hope left .

To me this is a severe limitation and I hope Korg will fix this in future revisions of their USB driver or in the controller firmware update.

That said, I (would) really love the nanoKontrol for its compact size, easy setup, and Kontrol Editor software which makes the configuration of nano very intuitive (if not fast)!

Cheers,

On Summer Clubbing3, knockouts include Nervous label-mate, OSCAR G.’s, “Back To You” (RICHIE SANTANA & PETER BAILEY Mind Control Mix) featuring TAMARA WALLACE, and TRISTAN GARNER versus CRYSTAL WATERS’ “Gypsy Woman 2009,” the latter an update of an addictive classic and the former a classic in-the-making.

THEO gets his tribal groove on with UNION JACKERS’ “Drop” (PROK & FITCH Mix), until MARCO V. ups the progressive-house ante with the peak-time energy of “Unprepared.” MIXIN’ MARC gives a nod to early house with an unforgettable vocal sample in “Dreamin’” (RUDI STAKKER Mix), though the compilation wouldn’t be whole without RALPH FALCON’s “Whateva” (TOM STEPHAN Remix) featuring ALEX K. and ALAN T. In all, THEO grabs onto the friendly, happy, welcoming vibe he creates each summer and polishes it to a high luster.

A New York native, THEO PISANI cultivated his love for dance music through years working in radio, beginning as program director and mixshow coordinator on college radio stations at Bryant College (Rhode Island), Brooklyn College (Brooklyn), and Stony Brook University (Long Island).

After college, THEO scored commercial radio gigs at WLIR, WBLI and WXXP (which later became WDRE/Party 105), mixing on live broadcasts. At WXXP, THEO was hired by VIC LATINO as mixshow coordinator and eventually was named music director. (WDRE is a BDS-monitored station also broadcasting into Nassau County on 101.5FM.)

Today, THEO’s dynamic mix of house music is heard each week on Party 105 (105.3FM, Fridays live 5-6pm, and Sundays 2-4am ET), and on Sirius XM (“Air” on BPM, Saturdays 2-3am ET).

Off-the-air, THEO can be heard deejaying in leading clubs including: Cielo, m2 and Pacha (New York City); Neptune Beach Club (Long Island, NY); Harrah’s Pool (Atlantic City); and Nocturnal (Miami).

Official Summer Clubbing 3 release party @ Cielo (July 16th)

For the third year in-a-row, THEO has been hailed by DJ Times Magazine as ranking among “America’s Best DJs” (presented by Pioneer Pro DJ), a fan-powered poll that has seen THEO consistently placing in the top 10. THEO is also endorsed by Red Bull.

My ribbon is made from rubber black conductive bag which protects
electric parts(like CMOS) from static electricity.
Like this.
http://www.tradeeasy.com/supplier/36460/products/p1012225/black-conductive-bag.html

You can also use black paper which include carbon. It can
be usually bought in the stationery shop.

It is cut like the tape shape, then it is pasted to the vinyl
chloride seat. So it stabilizes.

I think the black paper is easier to cut than conductive bag.
But usually, it has so much resistance than conductve bag.
So electrically, I recommend to use the conductive bag.

You can check inside photo of my ribbon controller here.
http://torigoya.main.jp/RibbonController_en.html

I hope that it serve as a reference.

Sorry to lower the tone of the forum, but I can't resist popping in to mention that you'll find reviews of (legitimately) free netlabel and/or Creative Commons albums at the amateurish and sporadically updated blog, Catching The Waves. At the very least, you'll discover links to better websites than mine, full of oodles of free music just waiting to be downloaded for free.

All the music is given away for free with the artists' full knowledge and approval, although they won't say no to purchases and donations. It's not an attempt to replace the current music business model but merely a way of developing an alternative revenue stream. (If that's what the artists want - some just like to give it away because they can.)

So, if you feel like filling that spare corner of your iPod/iPhone/generic-mp3-player-attempting-to-emulate-an-Apple-product, please head over to CTW and scoop up some trip-hop, minimal, electronica, IDM, experimental, ambient, classical, folk, rock, pop and a tiny amount of classical music (I must expand that last category). There's no advertising, fees or registration. It's all free. You get the mp3, the whole mp3 and nothing but the mp3.

Creative Commons-licensed music is the music world's best-kept secret - please help to spread the word.
