Yes, brilliant. buzz has a built in bridge to winamp, this would be useful.

I could be wrong, but if iTunes is using the GForce visualizer plugin, you will need to obtain clearance to use the output in your own video. It's not free of copyright to use. At least that's what I remember reading somewhere once. Probably the EULA. It's the same idea behind the many generative music software devices that can be found on the web. Some let you use the output with permission, other outright deny any use outside personal use/listening experience.

hey, not sure if this is the place for this post, but here's what i got:

i'm looking to rip the itunes visualizer to make a music video of my own, using the itunes video as source material. is there some kind of video filed saved or is it algorithmic and visualized on the fly? any ideas how to accomplish this?

i'd go with a novation remote sl. i've got the 25 key one and it does everything i want. plenty if buttons, faders, knobs, and even drum pads and a x-y pad. plus, since you're new to music making, you'll love the automap feature, which means it automatically assigns it's knobs and faders and whatnot to relevant things in your daw of choice. almost covers them all...
