We all know that the world is dealing with this Covid 19 pandemic and until know still grappling to survive. Since the start of January, the events’ industries (which our business belongs) have seen the decrease in bookings but still continue to push despite the news of a supposed unknown infectious disease. Come March 2020, the government started to imposed lockdown and the start of our nightmares.

CebuBalloons have been our family’s bread and butter. For 7 plus years, we strive to make it where it is now. From nothing to something and just a snap of a finger we have seen the business crashing down. From postponed bookings, cancelled events, as well as refunds left and right. We have to face these almost every day. Our main problem was on how to give refunds to each of the clients asking for it since when they booked; we also purchased the items needed for every event as we do not want to have the problem of not giving them what we promised to give them. As a result, we have overstocked balloons, party supplies, baking ingredients, styro etc. We did not foresee that this pandemic will not end anytime soon. We have a lot of stocks that we need to dispose in order to pay them but it was hard to dispose the stocks all at one time.

Aside from the problems with the clients, we also have to let go of our staff as we cannot pay them anymore. It’s very hard to let go staffs that we have worked for years and have been our companion in every event. We gave goods and money as well as exhausted all that we can do for them as we know they will also have a hard time coping with the situation. All the goods that we received from the government, we would divide it among them. We also have third party suppliers like the entertainers that we need to think about. Although they are freelancers and we do not have direct obligations to them, still we let them borrow money (our personal) so they can stock food for their families as their bookings have already been cancelled. Most of them lived by bookings and the coming days would be even harder.

All of these things happening at one time. It took us days and a few sleepless nights to figure out our first step to face the problem. Then we started posting DIY party supplies online so we can slowly dispose our stocks. We also sell desserts to somehow make use of the overstocked baking ingredients that we have.  There were obstacles every time we can come up with the solutions but we still keep pushing forward. We cannot surrender now, especially with our 3rd baby on the way. We have to keep it going.

After months of being quarantined, we have small income from the party supplies and still striving to stay afloat financially, mentally and physically facing the uncertain times. We are thankful to those clients that opted to rebook or put the event on hold instead of getting their money back. We thank you for your understanding that we too are affected by this situation. Rest assured that we will honor and give you our best service on your event date soon.

We have some plans and packages in place but we opted to put it on hold until Lisa gives birth to our baby. We will be posting it in August and hopefully you will continue to support us with our endeavors. Let us continue to pray that we may all have healthy bodies, minds and souls to face the situation we are in.

It has been a while since we last updated our blog. It is about time to inform our dear clients on the happenings regarding this business venture. We are very thankful that for the past 6 years, clients continue to patronize our products and services. We hope that in the next decade, there will still be customers who will trust us and make us a part of their momentous events.

Our enthusiasm to help customers embellish their party place is probably the very reason we continue to strive in this challenging business. Our passion to help the clients make their parties memorable gives us the advantage towards our competitors. We may not be good in other aspects yet but rest assured we continue to learn and improve every day. There are times when we cannot answer calls because of the workload – and many still wants to call outside the 8 to 5 office hours – but we make sure we will reply to all the emails and FB messages frequently. We added an FB automated reply to new inquiries so that customers can contact us for urgent concerns but if it is outside office hours, most calls are not answered because we normally set aside the phones and spend time with the persons we love.

Right now, we can accept up to 10 deliveries & setup in a day. With our two delivery vehicles, we can surely deliver and setup your orders 2 hours before the event. We also have a couple of staff that can work on their own and decorate the venue on their own – they will just inflate the balloons at the venue. The very reason we want the balloons already inflated in our warehouse is that it will only take us a few minutes to adorn the venue. Aside from that, we will no longer use the electricity of the party venue as some of them charge the customers P500 up for the electric consumption. For P2, 000 to P4, 000 packages, it usually takes us 10-15 minutes to decorate the venue. Even if we arrive at the venue 30 minutes before the event, during days with worst traffic jams, we can still finish the setup before your party starts. We usually leave the house 3 hours before event time and arrive at the venue at least 2 hours before the party starts to make sure everything is ready and the venue is already nice when you arrive.

Because of our occasional team outings, we tend to focus to the things that needed to be done when we go back to work. We know each others strengths and weaknesses but we continue to bring everyone up so that when someone is absent, another team member can do his job.

We are working hard on our sales flow, as some customers needs urgent help. Rush orders have become a thing recently and we are still working on how to handle these customers. We usually accept rush orders as we have buffer stocks in our warehouse that can suffice the client’s needs and we work harmoniously as a team. The problem is that there are occasion where we cannot answer to calls, especially during weekends, where we have several orders to finish. Most clients probably do not understand the “weekend workload” for these types of businesses but we are working hard with the team to organize and solve the problem. To avoid the rush though, we suggest that you book your party suppliers at least a month to get the best services. This way, your suppliers will have extra time to procure the needed materials and to plan how to go with the decors.

As a team, we love to unwind and think of some ways on how to deal with different kinds of projects. Sometimes we go to different places just to relax and not talk about work. We just want to clear and refresh our minds and body so we can continue to do what we love.

This 2019 will be a rewarding year. We will continue to improve our products and services. We will maintain our will to serve clients and take the hassle away from them. We will strive hard to achieve our goals and continue to be the best balloon shop in Cebu.

This has been a great year so far. Last summer, Mark decided to work as a part-time Real Estate Sales Agent to be able to understand the system and the sales strategies. We are expecting a very busy Ber-months and it is less likely that we can add a new blog to this website but we still hope to add 1 to 2 updates. 2019 will be another year of learning, innovation and new products. Right now, we already have a few things in mind to add to our list but we still have to iron it out to make sure the clients are getting the biggest bang for the buck. Hopefully, before December this year, we will do another community service and share some of our blessings to others. 2018 has been a great year and we pray that it will continue to be awesome in the remaining months.

Business is about making a system that works. If the system is a failure, you can revise it to make it better. Nobody in our company is well verse about business processes. We need to educate ourselves on how to make a better business system that is foolproof, so we can avoid lapses or give clients the wrong order. Being new to the business industry may also be an advantage for us because we tend to take care of our clients more because we think they are assets to the company. The more we pleased our clients, the more they refer us to their friends.

Even if we are still not very good with business systems, we always believed that innovation is one way to success. Having new products at reasonable prices will surely make the client say that he has the biggest bang for the buck. In the coming days, we will meet with the group and discuss new products and services that we can offer. We will also develop new packages that will entice potential customers to avail our services.

In the past several months, orders of Dirty Ice Cream, Inflatables, Mood Lights, Clowns, Magicians, Bubble Show and Styro Backdrop have increased more than 300% compared to a year ago. Balloon Decorations and Dessert Buffet continue to make us busy but we are still getting orders for Personalized Giveaways and Letter Standees. Once we can find a bigger storage area we will also add food carts to our product list.

We will continue to modernize our products and services so we will be the first to offer them. We do not want to be copycats, as it does not make us proud. The only satisfaction we get from imitating is if the client still appreciates our work.

Being original has its advantages. The ones that can distract the success of legitimate businesses are those unregistered shops who think they cannot be reported to the authorities anytime. They may need to pay a hefty fine or they may end up in jail. These illegal businesses, which do not pay taxes, tend to price their products and services at very low costs. They break the prosperity and competitiveness of the whole industry because they are not playing fairly. Their time is limited.

There were hesitations in closing our storefront but because most of the customers would prefer to discuss online or though the phone, we decided to stop the operation of our physical store and focus on online sales and marketing. Now that we have more time on online marketing, we can now easily sell our other products such as Clowns, Ice Cream, Inflatables, Mood Lights and many more.

We understand that we are the best balloon shop in Cebu when it comes to online marketing. We have a well-managed website, heartily done to gain first-page search engine rankings. We have a regularly maintained Facebook page, with a decent number of followers and we have several other secondary pages that are related to our main FB page.

We are doing very well with our online shop. In fact, we already have four online staffs that work in their own homes, spend nothing for jeepney fare going to work, and can work without taking a bath and changing pajamas. They take care of the online inquiries, phone calls and creative designs.

Having a storefront may be great for others who are in the same industry but for us, it is just an added cost. It used to be beneficial because we need to have the “trust factor” of having a storefront. So that customers will think, we will never run away from them. Now that we have been in operation for 5 years, many clients know and trust us already. The satisfied customers help in promoting our business to their friends and family. All we have to do is give the customers what is due to them and they will keep on returning and bringing in more customers to the business.

Our production area is now located in our small house in Basak, Mandaue City. It is just a few meters from the old store. A sketch is in our Contact Us page so that those who have items for pick-up can easily find our location. We are still registered with the DTI, BIR and Local Government to give new and existing customers the peace of mind that they are transacting with a reliable company. We all know that there are many bogus online shops and they can easily run with your hard-earned money.

We are now planning to extend our house to have a bigger and better space for production of balloon decors, giveaways and styrocrafts but our savings is still not enough. Hopefully, by April we can start the construction.

We are very thankful to the customers who continue to recommend us to their friends, even with the rise of the online shops. Rest assured, every time we setup a decoration, dessert buffet, styro backdrop, etc we do it with all our heart. Sometimes, we get tired but we strive to give each client the best product and/or service that he/she deserves.

Aside from the huge savings from the monthly rental, common area usage, commercially priced electricity and water, we are also saving money from our internet usage, cellphone load and security.

Because of the savings, we can still give the same delivery amount to our clients, even though the TRAIN law is fully implemented already. Prices of gas and diesel are higher but we continue to sell most of our packages with free delivery and setup.

The drawback of staying at a secluded village compared to having a store in a prime location is that other suppliers can no longer deliver their items to us because of the size of the vehicles they are using. We have to pick up some of our items for sale at the suppliers’ location.

This year 2018 will be extra fun! Working online has never been better. Yes, we spend a portion of our money through online ads but it is mostly through organic work that we get clients to avail our services and products.

The function room at the basement area and the two function rooms in the 2nd floor are very memorable not just for Cebu Balloons but also for the people it served. It has reached milestones that many others are yet to achieve.

No one from Royal Concourse can give the final name of the replacement yet but it is definitely a hotel. It will take about a year before we can see another high-rise building in this area. Hotel Elizabeth, Golden Prince Hotel and Golden Peak Hotel are nearby but this does not stop the management to venture into a much bigger business because of the profit possibilities.

Because of the increase in competition, we have decided to make our services much better and more affordable. We will continue with the existing packages and devise other budget-friendly ones. We are not planning to increase our delivery charges anytime soon, even if the TRAIN Law has been implemented by the gasoline stations already. Some of our packages with free delivery will remain, as it is, except for far areas such as Cordova, Talisay, Liloan, etc.

Until now, we are still 50-50 if we are closing our physical store or not. Closing our store means a hefty amount of savings per month but it also means there will be no more walk-in clients. We are planning to rent a small office, paint it with pink to make it catchy, possibly around 10sqm, just to accept bookings, but there are no final decisions yet. Maybe a small stall in SM Cebu will make a difference but there are no definite plans because it also means huge monthly rental. We are still asking for divine intervention to help us in all the strategies and decisions we will be making. This quarter will be super busy in terms of business administration, hoping that by summer, we can reach our quota, bring our team to Camotes or Bohol, chill and zip lemonade along the beach, while watching the beautiful sunrise or sunset.

We have been in the events industry for some time but we can say that we still have a lot to learn and discover. We hope that the more seasoned decorators, those who are 10, 15 years or more in the industry, can add to this blog so we can also learn their tricks on how to make a party venue awesome. Be it a Christening, Kiddie Party or Debut, these few helpful tips below will surely make your function room’s ambiance become great.

1. Always stick to the color combination – If you want (or your client wants) Pink and Purple be sure you stick to the color motif. White is always a great addition to any combination, but limit it to a desirable amount. There are people who are strict with color schemes so ask first if it is Baby Pink (Lighter) or Fuchsia (Darker) or you can use both. Being certain with your color set will surely make your decorating faster and more appropriate to the theme. Accent colors can be good and lovely if it blends well with the color combination of the theme. 2. Be extra careful when using duct tapes and packaging tapes – masking tape is preferred – Most of the time, using duct tapes can do the job for you when decorating the venue. It has a tougher hold compared to the scotch tape and masking tape. In some cases, when parents of the celebrant are the ones decorating the venue, they use duct tapes or masking tapes to secure everything – tarp, stick balloons, ceiling balloons, flower vases, etc. This can look fine during the event celebration but after the party, it will surely be a mess. Removing duct tapes requires a lot of time and effort. Sometimes the paint is removed or the stick-on material of the tape will remain. If the paint of the activity area is damaged because of the sticky tape that you pasted, you will surely pay for it after your event. So if you do not want trouble, be sure to ask the manager or venue coordinator first what kind of tapes that they allow – most of the time, they only allow masking tape, the same tape used by painters to separate colors when painting a wall or ceiling. By getting the services of an experienced balloon decorator, you will surely save yourself from the trouble caused by damaging parts of the venue.

3. Ceiling drapes takes time and extra work force – For the more experienced stylist, decorating the ceiling will only take 1-2 hours but for the newbie, it can take 3-4 hours. For a full ceiling setup that includes cloth, pompoms, balloons, etc, it can take 5 hours if you have a seasoned decorator but if you do it yourself, it will take you longer. The reason why balloon shops and event stylist are pricing this service at a higher rate compared to your estimation is that it requires a lot of effort to climb the ladder, beautify the ceiling and check it a hundred times if it looks fine. If you want to do it by yourself, start with ceiling swags (or a few cloths) and finish it. If you and your partner have more time to decorate, you can then add the pompoms and lanterns in the middle part, and then your extra time will be for the addition of the balloons.

4. Decorating early is OK but be sure you are allowed – Going to the venue at a very early time will surely give you extra hours to spend for your decoration. Just be sure you informed the manager ahead of time that you would be there early to start beautifying the place. You can also inform them if it is fine to go there the night before so you will have enough time to rest and enjoy the party the following day. There are days that you are not allowed to decorate the place early because there is still an on-going event. Parties that start at 11am or 12nn usually ends at 3pm. The staffs will then clean the place and you can only start decorating at 4pm. What if the party starts at 5pm? So be sure to plan ahead of time to make everything right. Inform the venue coordinator about your plan so you can have a “Plan B”, if you need any. Availing the services of an experienced Balloon Decorator can be your last resort. It can only take them 30 minutes to convert the venue into a more festive environment.

5. Outdoor venues can be extremely frustrating – Yes, some outdoor venues look good on pictures after it is decorated by balloons, flowers, etc but only because pictures are “still” or the objects are not moving. Decorating an outdoor venue can be punishing because of the heat of the sun and, most of the time, the strong winds that can easily carry the lightweight balloons and flowers. When decorating an outdoor party place, use heavier objects such as vases, frames, glass, etc. If you really like a balloon decoration or styro backdrop, make sure you use a sturdy metal stand to support the things that you are putting as decoration. You can also use fishing lines (nylon) to stabilize the balloon pillars and tightly secure the balloons on sticks in place. Flying balloons can be easily decorated but just be careful because this might hit someone who is puffing a cigar and it can blow to his face because it is inflated with hydrogen. To avoid the frustration, you can ask the help of some friends who have done it. If you avail the services of a balloon shop, be sure to prepare extra cash as some of them charge for the rental of the metal stands and the payment for the pullout of the items.

Yesterday, we started procuring the stocks we need for the next 3 to 4 weeks. We already have buffer stocks in preparation for the sudden or rush bookings. In the middle part of December, we will purchase the fast moving materials once again, to cater to the customers who will celebrate their parties near Christmas and New Year 2018. Recently, we have decided to stop the printing of balloons. We have discovered that printed balloons do not last for a long time especially during hot weather. Check our blog on the “7 things that balloons do not like“, so you will further understand how to take care of the balloons. We have also limited our orders for Dessert Buffet Packages to at least 2-3 in a month and refer the potential customers to our friends in the business. Expect adjustments to our dessert buffet packages this 2018 to streamline the services we are offering. We have also found several reliable suppliers to help us reach more customers in the coming months. We are also working on new packages that will make us a one-stop shop for kiddie party celebrations.

Aside from upgraded mood lights, we are now offering follow lights, laser lights, bubble machine and fog machine rentals. You may contact Mark directly for these services. Our Ice Cream in Tube is now better because it is made using a machine instead of the old school manual mixing, which made its name as “dirty ice cream”.

There have been changes in the work force. There were a couple of additions and reassignment of tasks. We hope our human resources will be smoother and faster in the coming days to serve better during the fast-paced months of November to January.

We have also acquired a new 12-seater van a few months back and decided to bring our old surplus delivery vehicle to Mindanao. Aside from the usual delivery of balloons, party supplies, styro crafts and giveaways, we are now delivering tourists to different attractions here in Cebu. Recently, there have been many different type of balloons in the sold in the market. Even with the variety, they still falls in the 3 basic types of balloons. Balloons are made out of latex, which basically are saps coming from rubber trees. The moment it is inflated, it starts to decompose. Because of the other content added to a balloon to produce different colors and shine, some balloons does not degrade fast. Some of it end up in the ocean, especially those that are released to the sky. These balloons that stay in the ocean, kill some of the sea creatures because they think these are food or part of nature. Being an environment conscious balloon decorator has its advantages in a nice way. Without further ado, here are the 3 basic types of balloons.

1. Standard Latex Balloons

These are the balloons often used for stick and flying balloons. The standard latex balloons are not shiny and does not cost a lot. These are the type of balloons that are printed with black or blue ink. A set of letters are assembled and a thin layer of ink is added on top of the letters or characters. The standard latex balloons are then inflated using a manual or electric inflator, then rolled over to the letters with ink. To avoid the wet ink to scatter to the other balloons, each are well-positioned. After printing, a pearl glue is added to the balloon to make it shiny and last longer. Balloons inflated with Hydrogen or Helium does not last long if a pearl glue is not covering it. The hydrogen or helium particles get out of the balloons easily without the balloon glue.

2. Pearlized Latex Balloons

Although these type of balloons cost 20 to 30 percent more compared to the Standard Latex, Pearlized Latex Balloons are shiny and thicker. They are very good for stick balloons but it can be used for flying balloons as well. It saves the hassle to prepare and apply the pearl glue because it is shiny already. If you want to use Pearlized Latex Balloons for Flying Balloons, you still have to apply pearl glue to make is last a day or two. The printed Pearlized Latex Balloons burst easily when exposed to extreme heat. Direct sunlight, humid air and pointed objects are the main villains of balloons.

3. Metallic Balloons

Can also be used for stick and flying balloons, Metallic Balloons are usually for decorations. These are the most affordable type of balloons because of the demand. It comes in different sizes and most of it are used to make an amazing design or sculpture using balloons. Most of the time, these Metallic Balloons are used in Arches, Pillars, Centerpieces and other decors. It is also nice to use these type of balloons for stick and flying balloons but adding a print is discouraged. Printed metallic balloons burst easily because of chemical reaction of the balloon composition and the ink. It is also best to add a pearl glue to the metallic balloons if you are adding hydrogen or helium to it.

In the market today, you can see many different shape, sizes and types but all of these still fall to one of these three different types. If you are a newbie to the industry, you try to experiment what works and what doesn’t and make sure you take notes and avoid doing the same mistakes.

The Skewer Trick

You can do many things with balloons aside from making them as balloon decorations or embellishments for a party. Without further ado, here are the top 6 simple balloon experiments.

1. The Skewer Trick

By using a barbeque stick and adding a small scotch tape on the area where you are going to insert the skewer stick, the balloon will remain inflated until you remove the stick. There might be a small hole created by the skewer and air will gradually go out but you will still have enough time to present the trick to your audience before you pull out the stick. The scotch tape or clear tape holds the surrounding part of the balloon where you inserted the stick. This will make it intact and avoid being busted.

2. Balloon-powered Car

Using LEGO blocks or a plastic car toy, simply attach the opening portion of the balloon to the back part of the car, where the spoilers are usually located. You can use a glue gun for this experiment. By inflating the balloon using your mouth or a balloon inflator, the balloon will gather air inside of it. Because of its elasticity, the balloon will let the air out of its opening, creating a motion that will enable the car to move forward.

3. Bed of Tacks

Using one tack can make the balloon burst but using multiple tacks can make it stay inflated. This is because the pressure point is distributed evenly in that area of the balloon. Usually, the balloon will stay inflated for a few hours but very tiny holes created by the pointed part of the thumbtacks will deflate it. Exerting just the right amount of force will make sure the balloons stay as it is. Using too much force will eventually burst it.

4. Balloon Hovercraft

Using compact discs and covers of sauce containers can make this Balloon Hovercraft experiment work. The air coming out of the balloon pushes from the bottom of the disc that will make it levitate. This is a similar concept to the puck in a table hockey game.

5. The Magic Balloon

This trick involves a balloon filled with water. It may look weird why most people uses dark-colored balloons for this trick but this is because they want to conceal the water inside. The water inside the balloon will offset the heat of the flames. Because of the elasticity of the balloons, it will simply expand a little bit and distribute the heat to the water.

6. Balloon Blow Up

For this science experiment, you need baking soda and vinegar. Put baking soda in a plastic bottle container and the vinegar inside the balloon. Put the lip of the balloon to the opening of the bottle while pouring the vinegar to the container. When baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) reacts with vinegar (dilute acetic acid), it will generate carbon dioxide, which blows up the balloon. The expansion of the balloons is relative to the quantity of baking soda and vinegar mixture. Notably, this is similar to the Coke (soda) and Mentos (vinegar) experiment. If you mix these two, you will create a fun explosion if its outside your body but inside, you’ll surely be in trouble.

Most of the clients that visit our store have seen our balloon decoration packages online already. They are just there to get ideas on what to add to their upcoming party or pay the bill. Because this is usually the case, we can just schedule to meet up the clients in a much convenient place such as the malls or coffee shops. Based on experience, customers no longer need to go to our storefront and transact. They can just communicate with us through our FB messenger, or send an email or contact us through cellphone or landline. For the payment, they send it through remittance centers such as Palawan Express, M. Lhullier, Cebuana Lhuillier, RD Pawnshop, LBC and Western Union. Some clients also prefer to “bank transfer” or “bank deposit” their money; we have BDO, BPI and UnionBank.

If we continue to get low sales from pure walk-ins, we will close the storefront and focus on online sales.

You can choose the air-conditioned room at the 4th floor of the hotel building or you can have a pool party. They have spacious party places that can hold at least 100 guests and their staffs are very hospitable and accommodating. We also held our 2nd son’s 2nd birthday party here – and it was amazing!

2. Waterfront Hotel Cebu

Located just in front of the Cebu IT Park, “>Waterfront Hotel Cebu has several function room options. You can either party inside The Port, a restaurant that offers an “eat-all-you-can”, or you can go to the function rooms inside the Casino, or better yet, choose any of the function rooms inside the hotel. Most of the concerts and huge events are held in this hotel, which means parking areas and traffic is something to consider during special occasions. The price per person may be a bit expensive at around P1,000, but you will surely get what you paid for.

3. Golden Cowrie Lahug

Also known as Hukad, Golden Cowrie in Lahug is now one of the go to party places because of its Filipino food servings. The elegant wooden and glass combination design inside the restaurant is perfect for a simple celebration. Rooms are relatively small but if you only have about 30 to 40 guests, these can be perfect. There have been upgrades in the facilities and the restaurant underwent a facelift a couple of years ago. As a side note, this is a special place for us because this is where she said “yes”, during our 2nd anniversary as couple.

4. Chika-an sa Cebu

Regarded as one of the best restaurants in Cebu that offers Filipino dishes, Chika-an sa Cebu is a nice party venue for a social gathering. The function room at the 2nd floor can fit about 40 persons but if you have more guests, they can stay at the areas near the room. Aside from sumptuous offerings, it has a huge parking space and an old school ambiance.

5. Cebu Northwinds Hotel

Situated beside Golden Cowrie Lahug, Cebu Northwinds Hotel is great for any occasion. It can be a wedding, debut or kiddie party. Parking your car here may be a bit challenging during peak days. Aside from the party place at the top floor of the building, you can also hold your party in the ground floor. It has an elegant function room and you can choose from a wide-array of food servings.

6. Avida Tower

Located inside the IT Park, the Avida Tower is one of the high-rise buildings in the area. It has a nice indoor-outdoor function room, near the poolside of the condominium. Any celebration is perfect here but there are a lot of restrictions in the decoration, which means you should plan ahead the needed embellishments that you are planning to add. You can bring in your own food caterer and other suppliers and just rent the space exclusively for your celebration.

You can do more research about these party venues near IT Park or you can go there directly to check the place for yourself. Ask also for the prices and inclusions of their packages. Check also if there are hidden costs, corkage, restrictions, etc.

Like paper that does not like to be soak in water to maintain its solid state, other non-living things has their own foe that can change its physical form. Until now, there have been misconceptions that balloons can last for a very long time because it is elastic but the truth is that it really depends on how you handle them. Balloons do not like

Balloons do not like these seven different things. We hope that this will reach to as many people as possible to give them an idea on how to maintain the balloons, especially if they are already inflated and decorated at the kiddie party venues.

1. Pointed Objects

Obviously, we all know that balloons do not like pointed objects. Sharp objects such as needles, knifes, thumbtacks and pens are enemies of balloons especially if they are inflated. Unless done on purpose, these pointed objects should be away from the balloons to make the inflated balloons last longer. It is also wrong to pinch the raw or un-inflated balloons because you will not be able to inflate them. The air will just go out of the hole or the balloons will burst while inflating it.

2. Heat of the Sun

One of the biggest threats to the health of the balloons is the heat of the sun. Under direct sunlight, metallic balloons can last longer compare to standard latex balloons but both will only last for a couple of hours during high noon, in a tropical country such as the Philippines. The heat for the sun will make the air inside the balloons become dense and it will react to the latex of the balloons. Once it creates a very small hole in the balloon, the balloon will burst.

3. Ink for Printing

Unlike other countries that use water-based inks for printing on the balloons, here in the Philippines, balloon printers in general are using gas-based inks that can react to the rubber of the balloons and make it thin. Once it is expose to direct sunlight or even under humid temperature, balloons can easily burst because the thin area will be easily torn apart. Some balloon shops uses a paint thinner to lower the viscosity of the ink, making it dry fast. Nonetheless, paint thinners are like kerosene that can also react to the rubber of the balloons. So, to make the balloons last longer, choose a plain balloon without print or use a water-based ink such as Tulco.

4. Gas and Kerosene

A volatile flammable mixture of hydrocarbons, gas and kerosene can burst the balloons in just a few seconds. Want to play a trick at someone holding a balloon? Swipe a small amount of gas using your fingers to the balloons, then wait for a few minutes and you will hear a kaboom. Doing this trick under the heat of the sun can only take a few seconds to make the balloons burst.

5. Fire & Flame

This is also pretty obvious that balloons do not like fire. The latex of the balloons will deform, which will eventually making it pop. Notably, you should keep the balloons inflated with hydrogen away from any fire and flame. Unlike helium, hydrogen is not only flammable but it is tagged as “explosive”. Meaning, if you bring the hydrogen-inflated balloon near a fire, it will burst then make a fiery sound. Check this blog about Hydrogen and Helium so you will have an idea.

6. Rough Surfaces

Rough, stony and uneven surfaces such as concrete of floors with no tiles, or grasses or sharp stones, will make the balloons deflated in a few hours, if not busted. This is because the rough surface can make a very tiny scratch to the balloons, without bursting it, but making the air inside the balloon to go outside of it gradually.

7. Stress

Both inflated and un-inflated balloons will deform or burst when subject to stress. It may be elastic but it cannot handle too much stress. Probably, the only time the balloons are stretch on purpose is during a balloon bursting game. During clean up, hotels and restaurants typically use pointed needles to burst all of the balloons if the clients and guests do not bring them home. Stretching them takes a lot of time and effort to do, especially if the supplier is only using high-quality balloons.

Inflated balloons can last 2-3 months when placed indoors, especially in a cold place, such as malls. When it is subject to stress or exposed to direct sunlight, it can burst easily. Take care of the balloons to make it last longer. Keep them away from the seven things above. Tell also your friends about it. Sharing can only take a few clicks.

The good thing about this lean season is that these businesses can be more innovative and think of ways to bring in more clients before the busy “ber-months ” will start. Adding new products and services is a good thing to start during this low season. Giving promos and freebies are also good ideas.

We have seen a different pattern of bookings now that classes have started. Most of the parents chose a weekend for their Christening celebrations and many of them move their kids’ birthday party, that fall on a weekday, to a weekend.

Weekends usually become extremely busy and all the resources will be deployed when necessary. We usually plan the flow of the bookings to make sure we arrive earlier and we will be able to deliver and do everything needed. There are still a few balloon decoration projects from Mondays to Thursdays but Fridays to Sundays will surely be busy. Preparation, planning and proper team coordination is needed to make sure lapses are avoided. We have also prepared a “plan b” if some of the things do not work out as planned.

Because we inflate 90% of the balloons in our store, it is still acceptable if we arrive in the venue 30 minutes prior to the party. Nonetheless, we usually plan for a 2-3 hour leeway to make sure everything works out well and if unavoidable errors occur, we still have enough time to correct it.

Aside from the costly repair and maintenance of the surplus van we bought 5 years ago, our electric balloon inflators and other equipments are starting to show signs of failure, which means we have to purchase a replacement very soon. Our laptops and phones are starting to get old and batteries drain fast. We will soon replace these things so we will be able to streamline the things that we needed to do to make the clients happy.

Yes, it is still a struggle. 5 years in the industry is still not enough to learn and experience everything – and for us it is a good thing because we will never stop learning and innovating. There are ups and downs. We still make mistakes but we make sure our alternate plans are enough to make the clients 100% satisfied. We know that we already have competitive prices but we are still looking to make our prices a little lower once our discounted tax application is approved next month.

More surprises will be coming soon. The struggle is real and we want to conquer it. We know that there will be light after the tunnel.

We are already doing basic event coordination if clients get a combo birthday party package from us. We make sure the entertainers, such as the clowns, magicians and bubble show, will arrive on the venue earlier. It is our practice to inform them again (after the client pays for the booking) regarding their upcoming schedules and inform them again on the day of the event. This will make sure that the expected suppliers will arrive at the party place. Another example is that photos posted on Facebook might have fewer balloons than the actual package so it is possible that customers will think that they might not be getting the best deal. We really do not like to give clients a big shock when they see the actual number of balloons included in their package. 1. Lola Saling Restaurant

Located in Mandaue City beside Gaisano Casuntingan, Lola Saling Restaurant was one of the most affordable restaurants in the area. It serves delicious native food and it has a couple of function rooms for different events. Birthdays and Christening celebration are regular at this place but there are Weddings and Debut sometimes. Bought by Jollibee Foods Corporation in 2015, Lola Saling Native Restaurant will soon become another Jollibee restaurant this mid 2017. It will have a drive-thru counter and the 2-storey building can be a function area option very soon.

2. Cebu International Convention Center

Now a house to many of the families who suffered from a fire that raze a huge part of Barangay Guizo, Mandaue City in 2016, the Cebu International Convention Center used to be a venue for huge events such as weddings, corporate parties, concerts and debuts. Kiddie parties and christening are also celebrated at the smaller function rooms in the basement. It has been closed since the October 2013 Bohol earthquake having suffered major damage and has fallen into disrepair. The convention centre features an International Media Center, a large Plenary Hall, an Exhibition Hall and several Meeting Rooms.

3. Merillas Restaurant

Situated at the back portion of the Avon Plaza Building in Capitol Site, Cebu City, Merillas Restaurant was one of the best options for small-size events back in the days. It offers a delicious buffet that will surely the guest remember the place. Intimate gatherings such as meetings and kiddie parties are the most events handled by this party place and they will make the restaurant exclusive only to the party. Based on the restaurant’s Facebook post in July 2014, they will be announcing soon their new location as soon as they will finalize everything but until now, no further announcement has been done.

4.Choi City Seafood Restaurant

Featured as one of the best restaurants in Metro Cebu, Choi City Restaurant was one of the few luxurious Chinese-Filipino restaurants in the area. It closed in early 2016 and there were no announcements if it will have a comeback or a different restaurant name. It used to be a function room for team meetings and kiddie party venue for most Filipino-Chinese families. It was strategically located inside the Banilad Town Center, one of the known areas in Cebu and it has one of the cleanest function rooms. For some reason, the restaurant decided to close down and now, photos are the only remembrance of the place.

5. The Villa Pilipino Restaurant

The Villa Pilipino Restaurant (Galleria Fuente, Mango Avenue Branch) closed down in early 2017 for some unknown reason. They continue to do business in Lapulapu City as they also have a restaurant there. The Villa Pilipino Restaurant offered delicious native food and desserts and the restaurant can accommodate 60 to 80 guests. It used to be a good option for those who are celebrating a small-size party because of its location. The parking area of the restaurant is a bit of a challenge but other than that, the restaurant was a good choice. Now, the only way to experience their servings is to go to the island of Mactan.

Shipment of Party Supplies

We have done a number of product shipments to many parts of the country already but it is notable that we only accept deliveries of products that are ordered one month or more. We really do not want to fail the clients by letting them receive their ordered items days after the event. Because of this hesitation to ship in just a few days, we are only limited to a few clients. Our balloons wholesale has also been put on hold because of the shipment concerns.

In the coming days, we will be making a solid plan on how to ship items in just a short turnaround time, possibly a week. This one week starts when the client pays the order then ends when they receive the items. Some products, especially the personalized giveaways, needs 2-3 days to produce, which makes it a bit of challenge for us to send the items in just 7 days. The courier takes 1-2 days to deliver the items and this depends on the location of the customer. Isolated areas can take 2-3 business days.

We are thinking of shipping our items not only occasionally but as frequently as we can. We will start with 1-2 staff and add a couple more if the number of order arises. We will also be spending on online ads, particularly on Google, Twitter and Facebook to get orders nationwide. We are also thinking of getting radio ads and local newspaper placements once we are done making the system. We will also be shipping our Paper Crafts and Styro Crafts to a have a wider variety of products.

Aside from commercially transporting our products locally, we will also try to enter the international market. Shipment might be costly but some customers may be able to afford it. LBC, JRS, ApCargo, and other reliable shippers can surely help us on this planned venture.

The customers will handle the freight costs but we will make sure that they are paying the right amount with just a very reasonable margin of error as we roll this out very soon. The longer we do the shipment service, the easier for us to understand and tell the customers the exact amount they will be paying depending on their location.

We are hoping that this will help us increase our sales and achieve our very high targets this 2017. If you live outside of Cebu and you are planning to order from us, just keep posted.

Off-season

There are many things to do during the off-peak period of the business but we will just share a few of them below, based on our own experiences. We will be turning 5 years this year but we know we still have not seen many of the “wonders” in this very competitive industry. As employee or owner of the business, here are some of the things that you can do during the lean season.

1. Develop better marketing strategies

Think of better advertising plans and discuss it with your team. It can be both online and offline but make sure you consider the cost of the possible campaign. A better marketing strategy is to develop the existing ones and not just rely on the old tactics if it is no longer working. You can spend money on radio ads, or sponsor an event or spend money on fliers, brochures or avail the services of an online marketing team. There are many ways to promote the business and even expand it, just make sure it is a reasonable plan to avoid high costs without the proper return. At Cebu Balloons, we will be needing the help of an Executive Secretary and/or Social Media Manager to promote and manage the online stuffs.

2. Write blogs

Writing a written record of personal and business experiences and observations can be very rewarding. Take notes of both good practices and bad practices and learn from them. If you are making mistakes, it means you are doing something. Just make sure you learn from the blunders that you did and try not to do it again. Write also the good practices and experiences that you made so you can share it to others especially to your teammates and your loved ones. Writing down blogs is also a stress reliever and it can exercise your brain tissues and make you think of better ideas for the business.

3. Spend time with special people

The off-season is the best time to spend with people that matters to you the most – your family. Of course, you can have time with them every day but it is different if you have a “Family Bonding” with them. Spending quality time with the people you love will not only make them feel that you exist but it will make them believe that they are special. You can go fishing with your dad, have a countryside trip with your partner and kids, visit an aging aunt and uncle, or have barbeque and drink wine with a close friend, etc.

4. Sort out business-related documents

The off-peak season is a great time to organize business-related documents and files. Gather them in one area so you can easily browse through the files whenever you need them. The first quarter of the year is usually for business renewal. During this time, documents must be filed and sorted out to avoid confusion and mistakes. Separate the documents for business renewal from the receipts of expenses. Put them in one sturdy folder and organize the related documents nearby. Having a well-organized documents section will save you a lot of time.

5. Introduce products and services

Having a wide-variety of products and services will not only make you busy during the peak season but it will also make your off-season not really “off”. The problem with having too many products and services is that you might not be able to focus on the main products of the business. Having a sideline during the off-season can surely make the business afloat and prepare for the busier days. Think of innovative products that will catch the attention of your existing client base. Make unique and affordable packages, add flair to your existing product line, etc.

6. Invest on your health

As the old saying goes, “Health is Wealth” – and we say, “Yes it is”. Staying healthy everyday will make you think of better ideas to improve the business and serve your customers well. We know it is better if we devote time for our health not only during the off-season but also during days when it is also tough to think of exercising – when bookings and orders keep on coming during the busiest months of the year. During the lean season, we should stay fit and have a good cardio workout. A 30 to 45-minute jog or walk in the park is enough to make our body and mind stay fit. Make sure you also take in something healthy such as green leafy vegetables, root crops, fruits, green tea, etc. You can also go hiking, mountain climbing or biking. Join sports club or train in martial arts is also a good way to stay fit.

7. Share to the community

Return some of your income to the community you are living in and you will surely be blessed with so much more. This can also be part of your product promotion but the main concern here is to help the less fortunate folks in your town. A feeding program is a good way to share your blessings to others and it can also make them feel loved even just for a day. Giving food packs is also a nice way to help the needy – it can make them eat for a few days. Share your used clothing and stuffs to the poor and it will be very useful for them. Better yet, buy them new and good quality things that they can use, such as blankets, pillows, pants or shoes, so it will last longer and they can use it for months. In this small-time venture, we occasionally do “Community Service” even before we are still new to the industry. Some of the photos are posted online, not to brag but to inspire others to share what they have to the less fortunate people.

At Cebu Balloons, we try to be busy during the whole year by having a wide-array of products and services. Based on our experiences, the first two quarters of each year will be part of the off-season but we have already made gradual adjustments. During our first year, we develop Cebu Dessert Buffet, to give clients more options, and then we made Cebu Giveaways. Two years after we have a couple of staffs join a stryocraft ideas training and then we started Cebu Styro Crafts. Last year, we introduced our Cebu Paper Crafts (Cebu Souvenirs) and added more products to our personalized giveaways. This year, Cebu Mood Lights was born and in the coming months, we will be adding more products and services to cover the off-season months and achieve our seven-digit gross monthly income target next year.

It has been a while since we last wrote something on this blog site as we are also taking time to update the other websites that we manage. We will do our best to add a weblog at least once a month just to keep our customers updated on what is new with the company.

Last year, 2016, was full of lessons and experiences. There were difficulties but we still managed to provide the needed products and services to our customers and we gathered unsolicited and inspiring feedbacks from the people that we have served. Parents, their kids and the visitors that attended most of the children’s parties were amazed at the very affordable and nice decorations that we provided. We also catered to Debuts, Weddings and other milestones.

This year, 2017, will be a year of new services and products. In fact, just last month, we launched our Cebu Mood Lights business and we are planning to add a sound system to the business once we get enough funds to buy the needed equipment. We also bought a new heat press that is particularly for small prints such as logos on shirts, prints on small muslin bags, foldable fans and many more. We can now produce small sublimation prints faster as we now have a couple of heat press machines. The other one, a 6-in-1, which can also print on shirts, caps, mugs, plates, etc., was bought 2 years ago because of our plan to promote the subli-printed shirts. Apparently, orders for printed shirts are not good unless we lower the price significantly, which is no longer reasonable. We also started our Cebu Paper Crafts business but prices for most items are not yet finalized as we are still busy with other stuffs.

We are also planning to buy an industrial laminator and an ID making set. This will enable us to accept bookings for plastic ID’s and other related products. A button pin maker is also in our list of equipment to be procured this year. Our main plan to buy our own Tarpaulin Printer may take a back seat now but we are targeting the 4th quarter of 2018 for the purchase.

We are hopeful that it will be a busy 2017 for us. If our targets are achieved by the 3rd quarter this year, we will sell one of our old delivery vehicles and buy a better and bigger one so we can accommodate more deliveries in a day.

2016 was a very busy year. It was very rewarding and we are thankful that we have served many repeating customers, which, for us, is already a testimony that we are doing fine and they are pleased with our products and services. We always believed that there is no elevator to success. Everyone who wants to succeed must take the stairs. We have been on the stairs for over 4 years and we are enjoying it. There have been a few rough climbs but overall the journey has been pleasant and full of great surprises and rewards.

Changes in plans in 2016 were due to the customer needs. Last year, we bought a high-end photo printer to cater to bulk orders because we can now print faster and the quality is much better compared to standard printers. We also bought a printer containing pigment inks, which is used for our t-shirt printing but unfortunately, the t-shirt printing is still not getting its traction because of the high cost of technology compared to silkscreen printing. Another investment last year is our high-tech paper cutter, which can cut any shape at high speed. We are using it mostly for our personalized dessert buffet toppers but we have more plans for the machine this 2017 as we have discovered that there is more to it than we thought of.

We will have new investments this year. We are planning to add several mood lights, a light stand and a controller so we can go full blast on mood lights rental, which are perfect for debut, weddings, corporate events and of course kiddie parties. We will buy a button pin maker this year so we can have more varieties for our giveaways. We are also looking at a sound system but it will probably come later this 2017 because of the cost. New products will include round-shaped ref magnets, new keychain designs, inner-colored mugs, sports jug and a few other items, which will remain secret now until we launch it.

Promoting the business has also become a challenge recently and we are now asking several marketing experts to help us advertise the business. Flyers, brochures and calling cards may not be as effective today compared several years ago. Because of the fast pace of technology, the sales and marketing battleground is now in the internet. There will be a couple more staffs to help us in our online marketing this year.

We are looking forward to a very busy 2017 and we will do our best – as always – to never fall short on a project. We wish everyone a prosperous 2017 and may all of you reading this will have a healthy body and all the good things that you deserve will come your way. God bless you always!

Aside from the Birthday Celebrations, Christening Parties, Debut, which are the regular social gatherings that we serve, this December the bookings for Christmas Parties, Store Openings and Product Launching have been tripled compared to last year. The companies that we’ve served in the previous years’ continue to patronize our products and services and there are also newcomers, which we think will also get our services next year.

There have been many plans this year but only a few were implemented because of the budget and time constraints. We launched our T-Shirt Printing, Personalized Fans, Personalized Pens and a few other products this year and we also bought a couple of high-end photo printers, a cutting machine and other equipment for mass production to make sure we cannot just beat the deadline but deliver it way ahead of time without compromising the quality. One-week used to be our standard deadline but now we can do most personalized items in just 3-4 days.

We have some exciting products next year and we are looking at adding Mood Lights, Sound Systems, Personalized Sports Bottle, Calendars and many more. We will also add a couple more freelance staffs to help us accommodate the inquiries.

Maranga Family – Christmas 2016

We are so blessed this year that we also shared it not only to our staffs and family but also to the people in our community. We will do our best to do more community services next year as we have been extremely busy this year and spent most of our very short free time with our kids.

Because we are featured in one of ABS-CBN’s local shows early this month, we probably got more customers than expected. We hit our sales target as early as third week this month and we will be targeting a much higher goal next year.

The “word of mouth” is also silently promoting this small business to big companies and we are also using free social media platforms to promote the business relentlessly. This website has become stable in its rankings in the past year as other similar shops are using our targeted keywords and unknowingly also promoting our business.

Do not forget that Jesus is the reason for the season and in everything that we do, we should do it for His glory. Let us continue to love each other and share our blessings to others. The reason this website is taking the backseat now is that we are extremely busy working on other related businesses. Now that we are gradually getting orders for the other ventures, we will go back to developing our main company – Maranga Cebu Balloons and Party Supplies.

The BER-months have been tremendously rewarding. Bookings of Balloon Decoration Packages and other stuffs in most days make us think of adding 1-2 more teammates. We have also invested in printers and high-tech machines to help us mass-produce the items that our prospect customers need. Adding a new heat-press equipment, a button pin maker and a PVC ID maker are also in the pipeline. We hope these plans will materialize early next year after we have computed all the costs during December as well as the income tax return for the whole 2016.

December is usually the busiest month for many businesses. Because most companies celebrate their Christmas Parties during this month, they tend to spend large amounts to make the event more memorable and festive. Aside from venue and food, they also pay for the decorations, photo/video coverage, lights and sounds system, dessert buffet, giveaways and many more. We also give an annual bonus (on the same day they first worked at the company), aside from the performance bonus that we give them every week – note that it may not be very huge yet compared to others but we feel that our staffs feel rewarded, inspired and motivated. We are also working on giving them a bonus this December as we are performing nicely in the past few months and we were already able to purchase some of the tools that we need.

Expecting to get a significant rise in bookings after the feature, we will do our best to procure, ahead of time, all the needed materials for December and prepare some buffer stocks for unexpected large projects.

We are conscious that we do not have a strong sales team or physical frontline yet but we are doing our best to improve in the field. We are grateful to anyone who expresses his or her concerns to us. These types of messages encourage us to innovate and improve not only for our own benefit but for the pleasure of upcoming customers as well. In most cases, we get positive testimonials, which you can see on our Website’s Testimonial Page, Facebook Testimonial Album and Facebook Review Page but there are instances that we just cannot please everyone. If we get a negative feedback, we would be glad to accept our failure and learn from it. We are not afraid of criticisms and we always believe in the Japanese proverb “Fall down Seven times, stand up Eight”.

We are very sorry if there are any unpleasing incidents and please accept our apologies for the mistakes we have done. We understand that some of our store sales staffs are not very good at explaining to customers yet. We are training them from time to time, based also from the limited sales knowledge that we (as owners) have, so we can try to handle all customers correctly. Unfortunately, not anyone in the whole team has a profound knowledge on customer service. If we think we made a “sales mistake”, we try to analyze it and make a better way to close a deal.

Most likely, the only reason we continue to strive in this business is that our output products and services, speaks and sells for us. We are sorry if we do not have a strong frontline but we can assure you that our products are professionally and meticulously done.

Aside from our mental limitations when it comes to sales, we are also physically drained during weekends as most of the events such as birthdays and christening are transferred to a weekend. We usually work 3-4 hours more during weekends just to give a nicely done product to all the customers the following day.

Recently, we have been meeting with the whole team on a regular basis to discuss what needs to be done and improved. For example, we will be doing something about the sample balloon colors, which a number of customers are interested in when they visit the store. The initial plan is to make a folder that shows all of the balloon colors and its availability, as some of the colors, including mint green, peach and maroon are rare colors and are only available on some occasions.

When it comes to the party entertainers, we cannot easily give a go signal to customers, as all of the entertainers (clown, bubble show, magician, stilt walkers, acrobats, etc) are freelancers. Meaning, they are also contacts of other party shops. Perhaps, the good thing about us is that we limit only to a few contacts based solely on the feedback given by previous customers. We are more concerned on advertising our main products – which are the balloons, personalized desserts, giveaways, styro crafts and paper crafts (coming soon)- rather than the added services, which are out of our control. We apologize if our staffs do not explain this to you.

We have a website, FB page/messenger and other social media accounts, which you can access anytime anywhere and we prefer talking to you online because we can easily give you links to packages and sample photos of our decorations. If you are planning to avail our products and services in the future, you may just send a message on our official FB page (http://www.facebook.com/CebuBalloons) and we will be glad to reply to you ASAP – meaning, after our decorations because we are also the ones personally delivering and decorating the balloons at the venue, at this time. Actually, it is a very rare occasion to get a feedback from our potential customers for a bad service. To pronounce the word, you have to initially sound like a sheep when you say “baa”, followed immediately by saying the word “lun”. Two-year old kids can easily say this word because most of their parents delight them with this object. Some kids start by saying the last word only but they will be able to articulate the word in due time with ease. Listen to the video below for the correct enunciation of the word.

Now that you can say it correctly, make sure you also spell it properly. There should be “two LLs and two OOs”. Balloon is the accurate spelling, not baloon and definitely not ballon.

About Cesar Ritz

Born in the Swiss village of Niederwald, Cesar Ritz is the youngest of 13 children in a poor peasant family. At 12 years old, he was sent as a boarder to the Jesuit college at Sion, and at fifteen, having shown only loosely imaginative leanings, was apprenticed as a sommelier at a hotel in Brig. While functioning there as a trainee wine waiter he was dismissed by the client of the hotel from his position, saying, “You’ll never make anything of yourself in the hotel business. It takes a special knack, a special flair, and it’s only right that I tell you the truth—you haven’t got it.” He returned momentarily to the Jesuits as a sacristan, then left to seek his fortune in Paris at the time of the 1867 Universal Exhibition.

Even though there are already a number of uncanny designs, such as the balloon arch, pillars, 3D sculptures, cake arch and many others, these typical stick and flying balloons will continue to amuse children of all ages. Parents can also go for the long balloons for their decorations. The 260Q Long Balloons or the standard size will usually fit any planned design but there are other sizes too.

Known as the “standard type” of balloon, this common latex type of rubber is the matte type, which is typically not shiny. The “metallic type” is the more preferable because it has a shiny finish and it is pleasurable to watch. Another type of classic balloon is the “pearl type”. This is the sort of balloon that is tough enough to last under direct sunlight compared to the other common variety of balloons.

Most classic balloons, when made into a flying balloon, usually go through a process of gluing. This way, the flying balloons will last longer under the heat of the sun and the hydrogen or helium inflated to the balloon will not get out of the latex or rubber easily. The reason why most flying balloons deflate in just 3-4 hours is that the air that is filled inside the latex already evaporated because there is no “glue layer” on the outer portion of the balloon. Bare hands often apply this glue layer or with gloves and these usually smell terrible.

2. Abuhan South – Also known as Antonio’s Place, Abuhan South is one of the top Pool Party Venues in Cebu. They offer a sumptuous buffet at a very affordable rate per person. There are two outdoor but roofed function areas in the restaurant. Both areas have their own kiddie and adult swimming pools. Sound system is free of charge and the lechon has a P500 corkage, as of this writing.

3. Montebello Hotel – Aside from the several function rooms surrounding this Garden Hotel, customers can choose to hold their kiddie parties or Christening near the Pool Area. Unlike other Pool Party Venues, you cannot make the swimming pool exclusive to your guests unless you make prior arrangements to your Sales Representative at Montebello. It is one of the grandest and most amazing hotels in Metro Cebu. You would not believe that this hotel exist in an Urban Area, at the back of Gaisano Countrymall in Banilad.

4. Cebu Wetland Resort – Located in N. Bacalso Avenue Extension in Tagunol, Basak, Cebu Wetland Resort is also one of the most affordable Pool Party Venues in Cebu. Entrance is at P150 per adult and P120 for kids. You can choose to bring your own food or ask the management to allow a caterer to take care of the foods for you.

5. Villa Teresita Resort – Situated in Biasong, Talisay City, Villa Teresita Resort is also a good option for birthday celebrations. Entrance for adults is at P100. You can just rent a cottage and bring your own food for your guests to enjoy.

6. Meritz Resort – Owned and Managed by the operators of EC Taxi, Meritz Resort in Pagsabungan, Mandaue City is a nice option for birthday parties. You can bring a caterer to help you with the food and there is a P100/head charge for the guests. You have to hire a sound system service if you are planning to hold a program or games for your kids.

7. Banilad Sports Club – Also known as Sandtrap, Banilad Sports Club is a fine option when it comes to food and overall ambiance. The place looks very appealing to the sports-minded and the swimming pool is big enough for a birthday celebration of 50 to 100 guests. It has a big parking area outside and the venue is located in an isolated area, near the road leading to Maria Luisa Subdivision in Banilad.

The price per person is the same in every room and there is a minimum number of persons if you want to avail a function room. The venue, use of electricity (lights and sounds) is free. The rate per person is at 330 or 350, which depends on the inclusions of the food package.

Golden Prince Hotel – Located in the busy highway near Ayala Center Cebu, which is very accessible to public vehicles, Golden Prince Hotel and Suites offers a function room at P550 per person only. They have large private function rooms at the 2nd floor of the hotel and they can subdivide the rooms to cater to smaller groups.

Mandarin Plaza Hotel – Priced at P500 to P700 per person, Mandarin Hotel offers a luxurious treat to your guests. Function rooms looks very classy because of the grand chandeliers and mirrors surrounding the place. The food of the hotel is very delicious and there is a spacious parking area in the basement of the building.

Pino Restaurant – Known as one of the most affordable Party Venues in Metro Cebu, Pino Restaurant offers and eat-all-you-can to walk-in guests but you can make one of their rooms into a private function if you book the minimum number of guests ahead of time. Casino Español de Cebu – One of the most attractive and classic venues in Cebu City is Casino Español. To achieve the World Record, we need to discuss the initial plan with the Local Government of Mandaue City and Lapulapu City. Upon approval, we will prepare the funds for the raw materials and labor cost. The plan is to set up the Balloon Arch along the railings of the Bridge to make it sturdier and last longer. There will be metal rods to support the big balloon arch from strong wind. Based on our estimate, 1.05 kilometers is about 17,040pcs of Balloons. The total cost of the raw balloons, including the metal support would be about P80,000. Store staffs are willing to offer their time and effort for free just to achieve this act. An accomplishment like this will surely make everyone in the company proud and more motivated.

We are hoping that we can do this within the year or next year. We will have to ask for the guidelines from Guinness World Records first so one of their representatives can come and check what we are doing.
